ExcerptKyle And, damn, she's got so many damn secrets. I can see them lurking beneath the surface but she has them locked up tight. It's going to take time to get her to open up enough to share them… if she ever does. Hell, it's going to take a long damn time until I can let her know how I feel, how I’ve always felt. I don't want to scare her away. At least we're getting a little closer. She's feeling more comfortable around me. In all the years we've hung out in our group, especially the last three with Lisa and Luc dating, she's always kept me at a distance. At first I thought it was because I had girlfriends, but even when I was single she didn't let me in. In truth, I'm jealous as fuck over her friendship with Stewie. They're almost as close as she and Lisa are. The jealousy clawed at my chest Wednesday night with a viciousness I'd never experienced before, and all because Stewie was touching her. It wasn't sexual by any means and his innuendos and flirting were harmless. He isn't into her like that, at least not anymore, not like I thought he was. At least I don't think so. Damn it. His parents are just as fucked up as Myah's mom. They trust and rely on one another and I know for a fact he doesn't want to ever fuck that up. Besides that, he thinks of Myah as more of a sister—well maybe not. Maybe it is more for him. He is her protector, her confidant, and it pisses me the hell off. I want that job. Maybe in time. I'll have to keep it slow and steady and not push or pressure her in any way, or I'm afraid she'll book it the hell out of my life and it'll all be fucked.

The sound of the garage door going up startled me, setting me into motion. It was a good thing I had been trained to make split second decisions with limited information because that skill set was being put to the test right now. I moved toward the kitchen as I ran the possible scenarios through my head. If it was Serena using a friend’s place to lay low, then I was in the clear. If it was a boyfriend or family member of the dead author, I was probably screwed. A cleaning person or friend, I might be okay. The bottom line was, I had no way of knowing which scenario I was about to face, but it didn’t matter. There wasn’t a chance in hell I was going out the back without knowing if the person walking through that door was Serena.
Right as my decision was made, I heard the sound of the garage door lowering, quickly followed by the door connecting the garage to the house opening and closing. A deep feminine sigh resonated, but I stayed in position, on the other side of the refrigerator and out of sight. The sound of footsteps got closer and then a woman entered the kitchen. I hadn’t meant to make a noise, but I shifted as soon as I realized who was standing in front of me. I moved toward her so I could cover her mouth and get her under control before she screamed and one of the neighbors came to see what was wrong. And holy fuck, there was plenty wrong with this situation since the woman was supposed to be dead.
I absolutely adore reading - always have and always will. My friends growing up used to tease me when I would trail after them, trying to read and walk at the same time. If I have downtime, odds are you will find me reading or writing.
I am the mother of two wonderful sons who have inspired me to chase my dream of being an author. I want them to learn from me that you can live your dream as long as you are willing to work for it.
When I told my mom that my new year's resolution was to self-publish a book in 2013, she pretty much told me "About time!"

THE GIRL I WAS BEFORE (Falling #3)
NA Contemporary Romance
Release Date: June 23, 2015
I’m the selfish one. I suppose that’s the nicest thing people say about me. I’ve heard the other things, too. “Paige Owens is a pretty girl with nothing else to offer. She’s just a good time at a party. She’s stupid, heartless, cold and useless. All she cares about is getting a guy to look at her. Why would anyone want to be her friend?”
Some of those things are true. Others were true. They’re all hurtful.
None of it matters.
I’m ready to make the hard choices. I’m ready to face the consequences. I’m ready to be the girl I was before, and I’m done being the one who lost her way.
I’m ready to become the girl Houston Orr sees when he looks at me.
Houston isn’t a star athlete. He doesn’t play in a band. He’s never going to be president, and his life is so far away from simple and easy it isn’t even funny. He wasn’t part of my plan. But I’m starting to think plans are overrated, and maybe our stories are what we make them. And mine depends entirely on me, and the choices I make…starting now.
Houston is my fairytale. He’s perfectly imperfect. He’s poetry and life. He’s truth and heartbreak, all rolled up in a tall body with dark hair, broad shoulders and green eyes that lull me into submission. He’s nothing I ever thought I wanted, but the very thing I need. He’s the only guy I’ve ever really loved, and he thinks I’m a princess. I fell into him, and now I’m holding on.
But sometimes life takes away our ability to choose. Sometimes…things aren’t in your control. Sometimes, it hurts to be selfless. My only hope is that when it comes time to choose, I get it right.
Welcome to my once upon a time and wish for happily ever after.
I received a complimentary copy in exchange for an honest review.
Selfish. Heartless. Useless. Just a few words to describe Paige Owens. Until Houston Orr. He sees Paige. He sees through her. He just sees HER.
Whether you’ve read the series or this is your first time, you quickly learn how everyone feels about Paige. She is not everyone’s favorite person. Her deceitful ways have built her a reputation. But something deep down tells you that there is something about this girl. Something beyond the surface. Something more than the person she portrays on a daily basis. There is so much more to Paige Owens than I could have ever imagined.
As much as Houston becomes a game changer for Paige, she did the same for him. He lived a pretty mundane and monotonous life until Paige came crashing in. She came with a force and he had no chance but to meet her head on. But Houston knows he cannot just dive in. His life? It’s complicated. It’s not his own to live. Not anymore. But Paige? He can’t get enough. He’s drawn to her. And you feel their electricity. You feel their need. Their want. Their desire. It’s overwhelming. It’s intoxicating. And it might be dangerous. Because with feelings like that? It’s easy to get burned.
“This strong goddess who doesn’t need anyone to save her, but damn does she need someone to believe in her.”
What happens when life doesn’t let you choose? Your circumstances and the man you irrevocably fall in love with? What happens when life simply just happens? When love alters life? Suddenly things that were once important are not. People and statuses become insignificant. Paige is done being THAT girl. You feel the moment when things shift. It begins with him. Houston? He is unexpected. He is truth. He is light. He is everything. Houston sees the broken girl that he wants to desperately to put back together. And people never see Paige. They see the exterior. Houston sees her heart.
“With Houston, I’m me – I’m my flaws and my good stuff all at once. And he seems to want both parts.”
Paige’s story absolutely captivated me. The author effortlessly bared the soul of a character that as a reader I never thought I could relate to. But in the end I think I related to her the most. Paige has the most beautiful heart. But that heart was hidden under so many layers. Houston Orr uncovered that heart the moment he met Paige. The moment his heart started to beat in sync with hers. Houston has the most beautiful soul. He speaks love. It pours out of him. While life challenged Houston, he did what others couldn’t do. He loved harder. But this is no fairytale. Their journey is not perfect. Their love? It’s heartbreak. Because loving Houston means being selfless.
“I’ll always come. I’ll always pick you Paige. Always...you.”
The writing is flawless in it’s execution. Every word breathes meaning into the life of this story. Can we talk about the first kiss? This author has a true talent in capturing the most intimate moments. They are beautiful and inspiring. The Girl I Was Before is unlike anything you will ever read. It’s genuine. The characters are real. You will FEEL everything. The author allows you to fall in love with Paige as she never wavers from her true character. And that? It was my favorite part. Despite the circumstances and choices to be made, Paige and Houston loved loudly. They loved fiercely. Not with their words, but with their actions. You were never told about their love. You felt it the entire time. What a powerful way to end a series that will stay with me for a long time to come.

No prison can keep me from seeking revenge. Especially when it comes to her.
She, the woman who put me in jail.
I swore that Iâd come for her, to claim what belongs to me: Her life.
Iâm not a good man. On the contrary, I love to be bad. Itâs in my veins. Just like itâs in my veins to ruin her.
Sheâs an actress, pretending to be a saint, but we both know that isnât true. One way or another, sheâll pay for what she did.
I will hunt for her. Make her fear me. Make her body mine.
Bad deeds never go unpunished ⦠And I always go out with a bang.
WARNING: This book is a DARK ROMANCE STANDALONE - it has a non-conventional ending. This isn't rainbow sprinkles & unicorn fluff. It's a dark, thrilling journey of two people clashing over love, lust, and hatred. Heed the warning. Contains graphic violence, alcohol, drugs & other disturbing content.
No Cliffhanger. Stand Alone.
Her skin glistens in the darkness, and my eyes hone in on her like sheâs a diamond ready for the taking. Pictures of her and Phillipâs faces hang above her head, with movie awards stacked on top of a shelf to the side. A perfect shell for an imperfect heart. Sheâs incredible ⦠and she will be mine.
She is all I can think about, as she lies there in her bed, silently sleeping the night away.
She has no idea that Iâm lurking in a corner, hovering close to her defenseless body. She smells of roses and expensive wine, and when she rolls over and her chest is exposed, I lean over her and take in her scent. Breathing out hot air on her skin makes her arch up toward my mouth, her mind unaware of what her body desires.
Sheâs so closeâ¦all I have to do is grasp, and sheâs mine for the taking.
Sheâs a devil in disguise. A vixen. A seductress, but I wonât let her beauty distract me from my goal.
I fucking hate her to death.
Literally. Iâm going to kill her.
But doing it now would spoil all the fun. Sheâs defenseless and doesnât even know Iâm here. Thereâs no fun in chasing an oblivious prey. I want the hunt. I want to feel the adrenaline and smell the fear as she runs for her life.
She deserves whatâs coming for her, but Iâm not going to give it to her that easily.
Iâll watch her from a distance; Iâll make her sweat and think sheâs going insane.
And then, when sheâs at her lowest, Iâll strike.
Sheâll never see it coming until itâs too late.
And then, sheâll be begging for mercy.

Batting her hands away, I said, “I’m fine. You can go.”
Every word took effort, and I couldn’t be sure if she understood me. Every syllable was strung together like Christmas lights.
“Why are you doing this?” she cried, coming close again.
I tried to half crab walk and half drag myself across the floor in the opposite direction. Her presence was a curse with her being so close, and I couldn’t touch her. It had to be overkill on her part. I knew I’d gone too far when my head hit the wall with a resounding thwack. I could barely understand the pain that floated over me.
I laughed determined to speak the words before the stars I counted over my head faded to black.
“Why am I doing this? The only thing I had worth living is gone. I finally understand why my parents left me. It’s obvious I’m not worth anyone’s love.”
“Ethan,” she said again. I couldn’t be sure because my sight was failing me, but it appeared as though she may have been silently crying.
I blame the liquor coursing in my veins because I did something I hadn’t done in too many years to count. The floodgate opened. The damn I’d walled up since the day of my father’s death broke.
“He left me, Jess. He couldn’t be bothered to stay alive for me. And then Mom left too. She never loved me.”
“That’s not true.”
She was close. Soft hand warm hands found either side of my face. When my eyes opened, I was forced to look in her tear stained eyes.
I couldn’t be sure if she heard me or if I’d tumbled into a bizarre nightmare. I spoke through lips I couldn’t feel and a tongue that was as dry as stale bread.
“It is. She couldn’t stand to look at me and be reminded of all she gave up only to be left with the scar of my birth across her belly.”
She tried to silence me with a finger, but I wasn’t done. With noodle arms, I tried to push her away.
“And you. You’ll never forgive me. And how can I blame you.”
A warm pair of arms circled me as her body pressed next to mine.
“Ethan, you are worth everything.”

“Hey there,” a deep voice rumbled against my ear.
When I turned around, I was eye level with a wall of leather with white patches sewn into it. One read VICE PRESIDENT and the other, BEACH BASTARDS. The man wearing the vest had long blonde hair that draped over to one side of his head, revealing the shaved area beneath. He had a beard, not stubble, a full-on beard that was a few inches long and very well groomed. He stood well over six feet, his frame lean yet very cut and muscular. I couldn’t tell what color his eyes were because his lids hung heavy and were slightly reddened. His entire neck was covered with colorful tattoos and when he went to light a cigarette I noticed that the backs of both of his hands and were covered in ink as well.
“Hey,” I answered back, trying to assert my newly found false confidence.
He was beyond attractive. He was gorgeous. If I had to end up in someone’s bed, I imagined that being in his wouldn’t be half-bad. He sniffled, drawing attention to the light dusting of white powder trapped in his nostrils.
“They call me Bear. You belong to anyone?” he asked seductively, leaning in toward me.
“Maybe…you?” I winced at my choice of words. Of all the fucking things I could have said, THAT was what came to mind? Stupid fucking mouth. Nikki was right. I spoke first and thought second.
Bear chuckled. “I’d love that, beautiful, but I got something else in mind.”
“Oh, yeah? What would that be?” I asked, trying to keep my tone light although my mind and heart were racing.
“This party? It’s for my buddy. And he was down here for a total of thirty minutes before he hightailed it upstairs to drown himself in a bottle of Jack. He’s like a cat in a tree, can’t seem to talk him down. It’s understandable, seeing as he’s been away a while, but I figure you can help me out.”
He hooked his finger into the front of my skirt and slowly dragged me toward him until my nipples were flush up against his chest. He pressed his fingers into the skin right above my public bone and I resisted the urge to jump back by biting down on my bottom lip.
“The BBB’s have never really been his thing.” He paused when he saw the confused look on my face at his abbreviation. “Beach Bastard Bitches.” He explained. “But you? You’re new. You’re different. You’ve got this cute little innocent thing going on, but I know you’re not or you wouldn’t be at this kind of party if that was your deal. I’m thinking he’ll like you.” Bear brushed his lips against the side of my neck. “So maybe you go up there. Make him happy for me. Make little him happy by wrapping those gorgeous lips around his cock for a while. Then when you’re done, bring him back down here to civilization. And maybe later, if you’re a good girl and do what you’re told, we can go back to the clubhouse and have some real fun.” He grazed his teeth along my earlobe. “Think you can you do that for me?”
“Yeah, yeah I can do that,” I said. My skin prickling from his touch. And I could do it.
“What’s your name anyway?” Bear’s hand slowly traveled up the back of my leg, pushing up my skirt, it came to rest on my ass cheek, which was then exposed to anyone who might have been looking in our direction.
“Doe. My name is Doe,” I breathed.
“Fitting.” He said with a chuckle. “Well, my innocent looking little Doe.” Bear leaned in close and surprised me by planting a soft kiss on the corner of my mouth. His lips were soft, and he smelled like laundry detergent mixed with liquor and cigarettes. I was just beginning to think that the kiss meant that he’d changed his mind and didn’t want me to send me away to his friend, but no such luck. He pulled away abruptly and turned me around by my shoulders so that I was facing the stairs. He swatted me on my ass, propelling me forward. “Up the stairs you go, sweetheart. Last room at the end of the hallway. Be good to my boy, and me and you will get to play later.” He sealed his words with a wink and as I made my way up the stairs I turned back and flashed him a fake smile. I hoped the guy at the end of the hallway was like Bear, because then maybe it wouldn’t be so bad.
Then a thought hit me that had me fighting back the tears that sprung from my eyes with a sudden force that almost took me to my knees.
I’d officially sold myself, and the price was far more than any dollar amount.

I ditched the vapid, soulless high-society life of Los Angeles for the promise of something more meaningful in rural Ohio. Accepting a track scholarship for college, I tried running my way to happiness, but instead I ended up sleeping with my French professor and falling head over heels for him.
When that relationship fell apart, so did I.
Barely hanging on by a thread and using the most absurd coping skills, I was determined to hide behind my past indiscretions. That was, until I met Tiberius Jones. Never in my wildest dreams did I think I’d learn the truth about love from a six-foot-five basketball player.
A broken heart and spirit has left the life of Tingly Simmons in shambles. Determined to move forward and concentrate on running track and finishing college, she runs into Tiberius Jones. A basketball player that would truly show her all about love and all that it entails. Tingly soon learns the heart of Tiberius. Despite his past and what he has been through, he loves harder than anyone she’s ever known. Her destructive behavior does not faze him. He sees through her. The person she tries to bury inside. His heart recognizes his own heartbeat within hers.
“Feel that, Rex? That’s my heart beating for you.”
I think the best part of the story was watching Tingly and Tiberius fall for each other. While their connection was instant, their love story was not. Tingly always felt judged by her past. Tiberius never cared if she had one. He only saw her. But just like her past, Tingly ran every time Tiberius got close. Every single time. I do not want to go into too many details, but I found their story to be refreshing as it was not the usual cookie cutter romance. They have differences. They have pasts. But their feelings for each other never waver. In fact, it grows stronger. Despite the circumstances.
“If you’re gonna run, run to me, your future, to being happy.”
I really think that more books like Vérité are needed as the book world simply needs more diverse books. And I don’t mean diverse in just backgrounds. But books of heroes and heroines with different abilities, talents, etc are needed in the literary world. I applaud the author for contributing her words to this void. With that being said, why a 3.5? I had several issues with the story. While I thought it was a well written NA contemporary, it fell short for me in the sense that there were many stereotypes embedded in the story. Every single stereotype of interracial romance you could think of was in Vérité. I would’ve liked to seen the author push things further, however like I said I do commend her for writing this story and putting these words out into the world. If you want to read a unique story of the power of love , acceptance, and the importance of self-worth, then I suggest giving Vérité a try.
“Tiberius saw through all the bullshit and made me feel worthy, and that alone set my soul ablaze.”

Blog Tour: Loving Dallas (Neon Dreams #2) by Caisey Quinn, Find out why Caisey loves Dallas and Enter the Giveaway!
In the second novel in bestselling author Caisey Quinn’s Neon Dreams series, a country rock band and its members embark on the rocky road to fame and find love along the way.
Dallas Lark is so close to achieving his dream of making it big in country music that he can taste it. Arriving in Nashville after signing with sexy, successful manager Mandy Lantram, his life goes from tragedy and turmoil to one lucky break after another—except it isn’t really luck because Dallas has sacrificed everything for his career, leaving behind his band, sister, best friend, and high school sweetheart, Robyn, in the pursuit of fame.
Robyn Breeland is a successful marketing coordinator and promotions specialist for a thriving liquor distributor out of Texas. She loves every aspect of her job: coming up with new ideas, traveling, hosting promotional parties and exclusive events—until it brings her face-to-face with the man who broke her heart, prompting her to erect a steel cage around it.
When their paths collide and they’re forced to work together, Dallas and Robyn realize that the old spark they thought they’d extinguished might still be a burning flame.
Of all the concerts in all the world, she has to be at mine. In fucking Denver of all places. Literally the last place in the universe I would expect to see her.
My mind can’t stop replaying our exchange. Or how lovingly that dress clung to her mouthwatering curves. Seeing her conjured up memories I keep firmly locked in the box of Robyn that I never open. Ever.
Seeing her unexpectedly reminded me of the first time I ever laid eyes on her and practically transported me back in time.
“God, I love this song,” she’d announced the night we met. “Come dance with me.”
She’d grabbed my hand with surprising strength for a petite redhead who couldn’t have weighed a hundred pounds soaking wet. She had the kind of raspy voice that instantly made you think of dirty talk. Or maybe that was just me. I had just turned sixteen and was basically a hard-on with a pulse.
Gavin had raised his eyebrows and smirked as she dragged me closer to the truck blaring the music. She shook her sexy ass and sang at the top of her lungs, off key, but proudly off key. I couldn’t take my eyes or my hands off her. For several years.
