Blog Tour: A Beautiful Distraction (Hard Feelings #3) by Kelsie Leverich~ Stacy's Review & Giveaway! @BerkleyRomance @KelsieLev
“It was hell. Being completely, absolutely alone in the world. It had ripped her open, branded her with a pain and anger so vehement there was no differentiating them.”
Fallon Kelly. Not only do I love her name, but I love her attitude! This chick made me happy, especially in a world of book chick’s that make me unhappy! She’s haunted by her past and in desperate need for a reprieve towards her future. She knows exactly what she wants and needs. And all of those needs are necessary ones, yet not quite attainable in her eyes. She has needs and issues! Yup! That’s right, she has issues-- Can I say it again??? She sleeps in her office issues-- She needs a man issues-- Fallon basically needs a life, she just doesn’t realize it yet. Not until Mr. Bad boy himself needs rescuing.
“Hate to point out the obvious, but you sleep alone, girl. In your office. I don’t think whether or not you drool or snore is the issue here.”
Enter First Sergeant Rafe Murano. Yes… That’s right, you heard me right. He’s a hot military man who never held back at war, and who most definitely won’t hold back now that he’s home. Little Miss Fallon has no clue what she just put herself in the middle of. She decided to rescue Rafe one night, but what she doesn’t realize is that Rafe might be the one rescuing her.
So this is how it goes… Fallon owns a Burlesque club. Rafe just happens to be there one night with his friends and sees some dude assaulting this chick right? So Rafe does the admirable thing and defends the chick by beating the crap out of the bad guy. Fallon being the owner swoops in and grabs Rafe to take him away. I mean he was only protecting one of her dancer’s right? OHHH! And I forgot to mention something! Fallon who doesn’t dance anymore, begrudgingly agreed to dance for one of her workers this same evening. This is the whole reason that Rafe and Fallon laid eyes on each other in the first place!! Oh geez! Ok so basically Rafe is looking HOT in the audience drinking whiskey out of a tumbler, looking all sexy and slithery in his chair… staring at Fallon on the stage dancing and BaBam! Ex-Ballerina meets Rafe! Not the best summary, but you get it.
“She was elegant and strong. Nothing about the way she danced was intended to arouse the men in the crowd. No, she moved like she was trying to seduce herself. Like she was the only person she was dancing for. It was sexy as hell.”
So after all of that, Rafe and Fallon go on the cutest/sexiest little adventure together! Fallon tries to act like a badass and pretend that her feelings for Rafe are in-superior to his feelings for her, which is total entertainment because it’s so obvious how much these two want each other! Rafe is super cool and not afraid to bring Fallon to her knees. (figuratively) Sorta ;) And Fallon is just a huge contradiction to herself! She wants’ so badly to protect Rafe, yet she can’t find it in herself to see her own vulnerability that needs to be unlocked. It’s such a DUH obvious thing! These two want and need each other, period.
As these two struggle through the course of this slightly complicated love weave, they realize that maybe they aren’t right for each other. And in fact they might just be toxic for one another, but love has a way of sneaking itself around the most curious of hearts and what these two manage to pull off is just so perfect for them and them alone. The character development was really well done, and I felt the depth of the story completely!
“Just tell me yes, gorgeous, and I’ll steal your thoughts from you and give you nothing but complete, numbing pleasure.”
This novel was steamy, sweet and a great read! I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who has an affliction towards hot Military dudes who know what they want, and slightly inhibited undercover independent women who “have no clue” what they want. I was very pleasantly surprised with how this book turned out, and I actually had a huge honkin grin on my face when it was over. I love these types of stories, and I LOVED Rafe and Fallon!
