I received a copy of this book from Simon and Schuster UK, in exchange for an honest review.
Let me start by saying when I agreed to review this book the only thing I really knew about it was that it was nearly 600 pages. I had looked briefly on Goodreads saw that it was a fan fiction, but didn’t think much about it. It was only after mentioning to a friend on FB that I that I discover it was a One Direction fanfiction. My first reaction was oh no!! I'm not a fan One Direction I didn’t know if I really wanted to read it. But not one to be put off I dived right in, and I have to say I’m glad I did, as I really enjoyed this book.
I don't know what to tell you about the storyline as a lot happen and there so much drama, but what I can say is that when Tessa meets Hardin it all beings, her life, and her heart will never be the same.
“From our first encounter, Hardin changed my life in ways that no amount of prep college course or youth could have”
What can I say about Hardin and Tessa except that for the most part, they annoyed and frustrated me, and I can’t say that I ever loved them. Tessa got on my nerves, and Hardin was a jerk most of the time, they were too much alike; they loved to fight, and loved to make up, and made some bad choices. So many times I want to tell them to grow up, or smack their heads together, or give them a good shake, especially Tess, but them I would remember how young they were.
“My feelings for Hardin are so confusing. I hate him one minute and want to kiss him the next. He makes me feel things I never knew I could, and not just sexually. He makes me laugh and cry, yell and scream, but most of all, he makes me feel alive”
Their relationship was volatile to say the least. You saw the Good, the bad and the ugly side of it. It was passionate, heated, fraught, explosive, intense, hard, consuming; I could go on forever listing adjectives that could describe their relationship! And as much as they irritated me, and oh boy they did, almost every couple of pages, as they did also make me smile, as when they wanted to be they were sweet and cute together.
“Hardin is like a drug; each time I take the tiniest bit of him, I crave more and more. He consumes my thoughts and invades my dream”
“You can’t resist me, Tessa, just as I can’t resist you”
The ending was shocking, an OMG moment, and not what I was expecting to happen. I just couldn’t believe what I was reading, and it safe to say I now have a strong dislike for Hardin, and my heart broke for Tessa. And as much as I liked the cliffhanger ending… the final chapter, but I did think did it need to take 582 pages to get there? There was a lot of unnecessary drama between Tess and Hardin. However, that being said, it didn’t feel like it was nearly 600 pages as the chapters were short, and it was a surprisingly quick read.
Overall, I did enjoy the book all 582 pages of it, told from Tessa’s POV. The mixture of secondary characters, the arguments, and the steaminess that added to their story, and some I like and some I didn’t. To be honest, it was addictive reading, and I didn’t want to put it down. I have to say in some twisted and crazy way I want to read the next book or should I say the next two or three books that are planned, as I’m now with Tess and Hardin’s on their emotional roller coaster, Journey, and I just don’t want to get off it yet”
“I never wanted to be any other way until I met you”
“This is us, all anger, passion and now love”
I would recommend this book, don’t let the length or the One Direction tag put you off as with the name changes, and the storyline it not significant at all. I would only say be prepared to have an emotional explosion!!!!!
Final Note! I have talked about One Direction more times this week than I ever have before. Lol
