Warning: If you don't like cheating, love triangles and M/F/M then DO NOT read this book.
I'm just a little pissed off every time I think about what happened in this story. Nobody is perfect and these characters are certainly no exception. Their flaws and faults make me want to pull my hair out!
Amber was good at the beginning of the book but once the story really started to progress, I grew to hate her. So much so, I hope she disappears and a new heroine comes and takes her place in the story. It seems she went from a smartass confident girl, to a spineless cheater in the matter of just a few chapters. Part of the problem with her is Brock's influence. She's just too weak and needy for affection that she let's him talk her into stupid things she has no business of doing especially given her upbringing. It made me so furious that she didn't have a mind of her own. Even now weeks after reading the book I am still angry at her!
Brock was arrogant right from the beginning. The cheesy lines that came out of his mouth made me roll my eyes. Do girls really fall for that kind of crap? On the surface he may seem like the all American good looking football star, but I believe his soul is pure evil. In my unprofessional opinion he is a borderline sociopath. And what kind of man continues to let Amber act the way she does, knowing what he knows and just letting it all slide off his shoulders? Maybe these two are the perfect couple. A couple that frustrates the hell out of me, and yet I still feel the need to follow through with book 2 to find out what fate has in store for them.
The one bright spot in this whole story was Ryder. He was sweet, charming and had such a loving heart. His only downfall was being best friends with Brock, and getting involved in the crap they did together. Oh and falling in love with Amber. Can he please leave this book and get an amazing story of his own?
The whole Hailey drama was totally misplaced and not needed at all. It didn't add anything to the story and seemed to come out of nowhere. Amber, Brock and Ryder already had enough going on to keep the reader busy.
I'm not even sure i'll be happy either way the story turns out. On one hand, I want Amber to choose Brock because I don't like either of them and they could both self-destruct together. On the other hand, I want her to choose Ryder so that I get to see more of his personality and maybe he can turn Amber around into a girl that deserves the love he has to offer.
I'm still not entirely sure how I feel about this book. It made me angry and frustrated for the most part. I liked and had moments of love while reading as well. I guess that means I hated to love it, but really did like it? The one thing I do know is, I really need to find out how it all ends. Damn cliffy's
