“You need to decide which is the greater risk. Losing him, or losing yourself to him.”
*I received a copy from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.*
This is my third book in the Wicked Play series and all I can say is, they keep getting better. What I loved most about Bonds of Courage was the switch up, it was no longer about a Dom claiming his sub, this time it was the Domme’s turn to play.
Vanessa Delcour is as tough as nails as they come. Hardened by her past experiences, she puts work first whilst having plenty of pleasure on the side. Vanessa was not a lady to mess with and I immediately loved her. The storyline was fresh and I couldn’t wait for her to show pro hockey player Holden who was boss. Although that was no problem as he certainly was more than willing.
“Jesus. The woman had balls bigger than most men’s. He wouldn’t be surprised if she had a pair hidden under her skirt. Hell, she probably did, and he bet they belonged to the last man who tried to challenge her. And damn, did that turn him on.”
Holden walked a fine line when it came to his desires. As an athlete in the public eye, he had to be very discreet about his extracurricular activities and if word got out that he liked to be dominated rather than dominate, that would ruin his reputation immediately. But he could not deny his urges and from the very first moment he discovered Vanessa’s role in The Den, he knew he had to be hers.
“His Mistress. The term struck a chord in him that strummed with pleasure. This-her-was exactly what he’d been looking for since he could define what it was he wanted. And now that he’d found her, he was sure as hell he wasn’t letting her go.”
My favourite part of the Wicked Play stories is the build up between the two characters. I find it exciting. I know Holden and Vanessa are going to be together, it’s the back and forth banter and the accidental falling in love that makes me read with a smile upon my face. I loved reading about a Domme relationship and I found Vanessa very empowering. The scenes between Vanessa and Holden were smoking hot and the writing even more so.
“She buried her nose into the space between his shoulder blades, closed her eyes and let her hands roam. Every nuance and breath that was Holden was absorbed into her senses to become part of her.”
“He floated in that fucking awesome cloud of nothingness and everything and simply gave her all that he was to her.”
“His roar set her free. She cried out, her higher pitch blending with his roughened note in perfect harmony. Together they found the quiet. They found their peace.”
Vanessa had a very tough shell to crack. An incident in her past left her untrusting of men and she tried her best to keep Holden at arm’s length but she underestimated his charm and soon found out she was wishing for the impossible.
I loved Holden; he wasn’t your average hockey playboy. He had a heart of gold and paid his dues by giving back to the community. This showed his softer side and his reverence for Vanessa had my heart melting.
So far, I have read this series out of order and it can be done. I can follow each storyline easily, it just makes me desperate to go back and read about the other couples. The Den is a great setting and holds an array of intriguing characters.
Vanessa’s sister intrigued me and I’m glad she is getting a story in the series (and the final one at that) and from the synopsis it sounds explosive. I am a firm fan of Lynda Aicher’s erotic series, she manages to blend the perfect mix of BDSM and romance to have me falling in love with the characters and caring for their welfare.
Bonds of Courage was another well written addition to the series and I can’t wait until I have read them all. You must read this book and fall in love with Vanessa and Holden just like I did.
“He inhaled, his nose buried in her hair, and soaked in everything. Her scent, her warmth, the weight of her in his arms, each dip and curve pressed against him. And finally, he breathed. That was when he knew that this was better than any orgasm. Better than any Scene in her playroom. This was love.”
“There’s been no one but you since that first night at The Den. Don’t you know by now that the only woman I want is you? The only Mistress I’ll ever submit to is you.”

Lynda Aicher has always loved to read. It’s a simple fact that has been true since she discovered the words of Judy Blume at the age of ten. After years of weekly travel as a consultant implementing computer software into global companies, she ended her nomadic lifestyle to raise her two children. Now, her imagination is her only limitation on where she can go and her writing lets her escape from the daily duties of being a mom, wife, chauffeur, scheduler, cook, teacher, volunteer, cleaner and mediator. If writing wasn’t a priority, it wouldn’t get done.
