Blog Tour: Inflame (Explosive #3) by Tessa Teevan~ Double 5 Star Review's, Excerpt, Teasers & Giveaway
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Tessa Teevan has done it again with the third book, Inflame, in the Explosive series! This oh so sweet and sexy read will grab you from the first page.
Solider Kale Montgomery meets school teacher, Lucy Dawson on the day he is fulfilling his godfather duties for 'Bring Your Daddy To Work Day'. They immediately hit it off. However, Kale is known as a ladies man. No settling down for him. Soon enough their playful banter turns into flirting and eventually into friends with benefits. With Kale's upcoming deployment, the 'what are we question' arises. Neither one wants to admit it, but they have fallen for each other. Hard. When lines are crossed, their past comes back to haunt them. Obstacles are thrown their way. It challenges their beliefs of love. They are reminded why they always stayed away from love. But this is Kale and Lucy. Their love is like no other.
"I have every intention of making her mine, but until I know she’s ready, hell, until I’m sure that I’m even ready, I’ll bid my time and continue to be her best friends... I know that in the end it’ll be more than worth it. Waiting for her will be worth it."
Time apart does nothing to dim the flame (pun intended) between Kale and Lucy. Their passionate summer fling is so much more than they ever imagined. Friends with benefits? Sexy times with your best friend? What more can you want? They soon learn that the thought of being without each other is no longer an option. Life makes so much more sense when they are together. Even when life throws curves, Lucy and Kale face them head one. No matter what, Kale and Lucy always find HOME within each other.
“Home isn’t just a place for me, babe. It’s wherever you are. So we could be at my place, at your place, or in a van by the river. As long as I’m with you, then I’m home.”
Inflame is so much more than a friends with benefits or friends to lovers story. Why? Because it goes much DEEPER than that. The connection between Kale and Lucy is felt the moment they met. The reason they never found true love? Because their souls were still looking for each other. That is the kind of love that exists between them. Their love goes beyond what they could have ever imagined. They found love when they least expected it-when they weren't looking. But love doesn't work that way. It finds you when you're ready. With the right person. Inflame attests to that.
“All my time with you is the best times infinity, Kale Montgomery.”
Kale Montgomery. You have absolutely stolen my heart when I least expected it. You are not only drop dead gorgeous, you are kind and you also hold the most beautiful soul I've ever met in a hero in a story. Kale loves with everything he has. With all of his heart and soul. With conviction. Kale. Just. Loves. He protects. He is possessive, yet compassionate. He will make you laugh. He will also make you cry. And you will love him even harder through both.
"And just like that, Lucy Dawson shines the light in my life and my dark thoughts completely disappear."
While you can read Inflame as a standalone, I highly suggest you read the other books in this series. The author has a talent for allowing you to go beyond reading her stories. You live them. You want to crawl inside her books and become friends with these sexy men and their sexy, sassy, and fierce women. Her characters are genuine. She holds nothing back. As a reader you experience raw emotion in her books, and Inflame adds to that.
This is how the series started for me… With a “fuck” something. Can I just say how much I love that the series hasn’t lost its tempo? Awesome.
Tessa Teevan is probably one of those “special” Authors that we only come across once in a lifetime. Her books are not pretentious, or overgrown, or too cliché. Her books have real meaning and guts and heartfelt banter and love of real life. The reason why I love this series goes far beyond book boyfriends and casual sex. The reason why I love this series is simple. Every single character has a meaning and purpose. EVERY character pulls you into to them as if they were a portion of your heart that you cannot get back. To say this series has stolen my heart would be an inadequate disclaimer. This series and this writer own my crazy little book heart, and I could only hope that you all feel the same love and emotion that I have.
Best friends with benefits right? Yeah you’ve seen the movie-blah blah blah… But this isn’t like those movies! I’m sure you’re asking yourself why not? How is THIS book different? Well let me tell you why… Am I going to tell you exactly how it’s different? Hell no, but I will give you some insight on why you need to read this book.
“I don’t do relationships either Lucy. I just want to get to know you and have some fun. No feelings, no strings, no nothing”
Lucy and Kale have an unconventional relationship to start off, He has a past and so does Lucy. And if you’ve read the first two books in this series you might have a tinge of what’s going on with them. I’m not going to ruin the book by telling you all of the previous drama, but it sucks. And why are these two forced together? Well they aren’t really, that’s the point. I firmly believe that Kale isn’t forced into anything. He’s just that good of a guy. Are you confused yet? GOOD, read the first two books *he he*
“The night I met Kale Montgomery, I knew I was in trouble. I just didn’t know how much.”
This I will tell you… Lucy is an amazingly strong woman, as are all of Tessa’s female characters. Lucy I actually felt was the most like me personally, so I grew an attachment to her early on. She’s strong yet fragile without knowing her worth. She doesn’t need a man to show her what she holds in her strength, yet when a man does-- it feels too good to be true. She’s an over optimistic under-believer. Yes, I just coined that phrase. Ha!
“I’ve always thought the whole puppy-dog-eyes thing was a farce, but now that I’m staring into his, I’m a believer. They’re two of the most beautiful I’ve ever seen, and I could get lost in them for days.”
Either way the chemistry felt between these two is unruly and almost forbidden. Not that they were doing anything wrong, but the romance and sexy times just seemed almost “unclassified” like they were trying to hide a truth that nobody cared about , yet only they yearned about. These two are truly best friends.
“We’re in this together, no matter what. You’re my best friend and so much more. Don’t forget it.”
The story of Kale and Lucy goes far beyond anything that could be misconstrued as “friends with benefits” Kale is truly a stand up dude with a heart of gold. And I just loved every stinking part of his protective sweet dirty ways when it came to Lucy! Not only is he sexy, but he’s unbelievably smooth and heartfelt. This man will steal your heart. Is there drama? Oh hell yes there is! What would a book be without some heartfelt tears and pain? I cried and laughed and cried again. This book will melt you. I’ve been recommending a lot of summer reads lately, and this book is truly an all seasons read. Recommended wholeheartedly!
“She is my heart, and nothing anyone says or does will ever be able to rip her away.”
She looks me over, and I love the fact that she’s checking me out. I don’t know why I’m so drawn to her, but I am, and I want to get to know her better, at least where the bedroom’s concerned. Eventually, she extends her hand, and I give a firm handshake, the kind she wanted when we first met. “Please, Kale, call me Lucy.”
Shaking her hand, I say it out loud. “Lucy. I like it.”
“That’s fortunate since I’m stuck with it. Okay, Montgomery. As much as I love flirting with a hot ass soldier in the parking lot of an elementary school, I’ve got to get going. Maybe I’ll see you around?”
She starts to walk away, but I grab her hand, reeling her back in. I’m not ready for her to go, yet I don’t want to seem like some crazy stalker guy.
“Can I see you again? You know, outside of an elementary school?” I ask, my eyes bearing down into hers, begging for her to say yes.
She hesitates, and I’m afraid she’s about to say no when she finally responds. “I don’t date. I’m not looking for anything serious, so if that’s what you’re looking for, I’m the wrong girl.”
My cock practically sings at her words. A no strings attached relationship with a hot teacher right before I deploy? I couldn’t have asked for better luck.
“I don’t do relationships, either, Lucy. I just want to get to know you and to have some fun. No feelings, no strings, no nothing,” I tell her, and watch as a look of relief washes over her.
She starts digging in her purse and I watch as she scribbles something on a piece of paper before hanging it to me. “Number’s right there. Call me when you’re feeling adventurous,” she says. Before I can say anything, she spins around and swiftly walks away, leaving me to wonder just how adventurous she can be.
The Explosive Series
Ignite (Explosive #1)
Incinerate (Explosive #2)
I'm a twenty six year old book junkie who is also obsessed with sports. Bengals, Buckeyes, Reds are my teams! I work for the government during the day, hang out with Air National Guard on the weekends, and have been married to my own book boyfriend for over seven years. We currently live right outside of Dayton, OH with our two cats.
If I’m not writing or looking through tons of photos of hot men, all in the name of research, then you can probably find me curled up with my Kindle, ignoring the rest of the world. I love my sports almost as much as I love my books. My other obsessions include red wine, hot men, country music, and all things Grace Potter.
