I have read Emma Hart's previous books under the New Adult genre and really liked them. Late Call is Emma's first Adult book and I really enjoyed it.
High class call girl, Mia Lopez is. She's confident, frank, sexy, and can make any man's desire come to true. But Mia is just the feisty woman Dayton hides behind. She knows she's great at her job and loves it. She makes more money in a week than the average person makes in a couple of years. Her initiation into the call girl business is not really the usual. She is actually following the footsteps of a close relative after she needed some quick money. What Dayton didn't realize at the time was how much she was going to enjoy it. I loved how unapologetic Dayton was and the fact that she was a strong that didn't need a man in her life, made me love her even more.
Then one day, her past comes crashing in. She receives a late call. The client's name is unknown to her, but who she didn't expect to see was the love of her life.
Aaron Stone had no idea the girl he was hiring was the only woman he's ever loved, Dayton Black. So he comes up with the great idea to hire Dayton for the next few weeks. Aaron was one hell of a demanding man. He wanted things his way and that was the only option. He was also very stubborn which caused a few entertaining arguments between him and Dayton. I was a little flabbergasted at the fact that this man, with all his qualities, didn't seem a bit concerned at the fact that the woman he loved was now a call girl! I would've thought a man in his position would've been pissed and thrown a temper tantrum demanding Dayton to quit asap.
Overall, I really enjoyed Emma's adult début. Her writing really shines in this one. The ending will have you craving the conclusion to Dayton and Aaron's story. If you're looking for a fun, sexy read with a strong female lead, this one is for you.
“The bottom line remains; he is my client. Not my ex-boyfriend. Not the love of my fucking life. My client.”

Mia Lopez is a call girl. Mia is good at what she does and she knows it. Mia was not always the strong, sassy girl she is now. Dayton Black hides behind the confident façade of Mia. After a family tragedy, Dayton struggled for money so her aunt (of all people) introduced her to a world of fortune by giving men what they most desired.
“Fuck well, get paid well. That’s how my life works.”
“This is where I’m comfortable, my home. Men watching me, wanting me, wishing they were they guy whose arm I’m clinging to. That’s my life. That’s where I excel. Making them watch me. Making them want me.”
Dayton’s heart has been broken once so it’s Mia’s job to protect it from the world and make a name for herself as a call girl. That is until a late call comes in and Mia is hired for one night. Trouble is her client just happens to be the one person that can strip Mia bare and expose Dayton and all the heartache she locked away.
All Aaron Stone wanted was a pretty girl on his arm for one night. Never did he think fate would hand him the one that got away. I’ve recently become a fan of second chance romances and Late Call is no different. Aaron and Dayton met when they were too young and circumstances prevented them from making it more permanent. It was great to see them get a second chance. Well if they don’t kill each other first that is!
“Your game is very, very dangerous, Miss Black.”
“And you get to play if for a whole six weeks. Aren’t you lucky?”
I liked Mia/Dayton she was initially hard to connect to as she held back, not letting Aaron or anyone else in but the more time she spent with Aaron, her walls started to come down and that’s when I got to see the real girl underneath.
“I can’t believe he’s fucking with my twenty-four-year-old mind as easily as he stole my seventeen-year-old heart.”
Aaron Stone has all the attributes of a good book boyfriend. I didn’t fall completely head over heels for him, I’m hoping in the next book he will win me over unequivocally. He had Alpha tendencies, but I felt he didn’t quite leave his mark. I think that was due to the fact Dayton was such a strong character as well and they both fought for control.
“And fuck you and your defiance, Dayton. Just for five goddamn minutes, surrender control. Let me in.”
“I can’t not feel it. It calls out to me, and that’s exactly why I can’t touch you again right now. If I touch you, being mad at you and wanting you this badly will end up in you coming again. Likely on my tongue.”
I did question his acceptance of Dayton’s profession, he seemed to take it on board a little too easily and that’s when I wanted him to appear macho and stake his claim. I’m sure any red-blooded male would have some issue with her occupation of choice.
“So you do it for the money?”
“Well I certainly don’t do it for the lack of fucking orgasms.”
Dayton and Aaron had great banter together, they constantly bickered and Dayton displayed her independence at every turn. This made for some very funny reading and gave the book a fun, sexy feel to it.
“Close your mouth, sweetheart, or I might be tempted to fill it for you.”
I enjoyed Emma’s writing in this book it didn’t feel rushed and the time frame was covered well. There were lots of sweet moments and plenty of hot ones too. I did wish for Aaron’s point of view a few times, especially when they first reconnected, I wanted to know how he really felt towards Dayton and what his intentions were after hiring her for six weeks.
I liked the twist at the end, even though I had previously read this same situation in a book a few days before it really worked for Dayton and Aaron, as I wasn’t expecting it. Things are left up in the air, enough to leave you wanting more from them and to read their conclusion.
Late Call is a strong début into the adult genre by Emma Hart. There’s a sexy business man to swoon over and a feisty call girl to root for. Add jet setting, sexy banter and love into the mix and you have yourself a great read.
By day, New York Times and USA Today bestselling New Adult author Emma Hart dons a cape and calls herself Super Mum to two beautiful little monsters. By night, she drops the cape, pours a glass of whatever she fancies - usually wine - and writes books.
Emma is working on Top Secret projects she will share with her followers and fans at every available opportunity. Naturally, all Top Secret projects involve a dashingly hot guy who likes to forget to wear a shirt, a sprinkling (or several) of hold-onto-your-panties hot scenes, and a whole lotta love.
She likes to be busy - unless busy involves doing the dishes, but that seems to be when all the ideas come to life.
