Blog Tour - One Love (Gypsy Brothers #7) by Lili St. Germain ~ Adriana, Ava and Derna's Reviews and Kindle Giveaway!
*I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review
The end I have been looking forward to the most has come! Even though I could not wait to get my hands on this one, I took my time to savor the last time I would have Juliette, Jase, and the others on my hands.
This last installment in the Gypsy Brothers series starts right were the last one left us off at. Juliette has quickly become one of my favorite heroines. From the very beginning she has been kicking some serious ass while being tortured emotionally and physically by Dornan. This book did show us a more vulnerable side to her, but once again she picked herself back up and went to finish what she started.
One Love was not as action-packed and twisted as the previous books, but it was still very good. The action picks up towards the ending, but I was hoping for a bigger blowout from the beginning. I did hope things went down differently because I kind of already had an idea how it was going to end (I was partially correct), so I just wished there was an element of surprise to the ending.
Apart from all the ugly going around Juliette and the gang, there were some sweet moments with Jase. He, for one, kicked up a notch and showed his badass side as well.
Overall, I enjoyed this novella. The ending was perfect for this story even though I did wish that there was a bit more action and bloodiness (but that's just me ;D ). Fans of this series will love this one, and if you haven't picked it up yet, now is the time to!!
“The thing about bargaining with a madman is that you never know how far he’ll go.”
It was the final showdown between Juliette and her nemesis Dornan. I’ve really enjoyed this series and I couldn’t wait for the final instalment. I was expecting an epic ending to the series and of course I wanted Dornan to get what he deserved.
Although this book is slightly longer than the others, I read it in no time. I was turning each page; desperate for the moment Dornan and Juliette came face to face. I think I went into this book with high expectations; I had a rough idea what I wanted to happen so although it wasn’t as explosive as I had imagined, it was still well written and a fitting end to the series.
My favourite part of this book had to been Juliette’s attitude. It’s like she emerged hardened from everything that happened to her and she wasn’t taking any prisoners. I loved this tough girl; she wasn’t messing around this time.
“Press those goddamn buttons. Come on, asshole, if you’re here to dance, let’s fucking dance.”
“I assure you, I’m not the monster in this fucked-up fairy tale. But whatever helps you sleep at night.”
I thought there might have been more drama in the book, but Jase and Juliette had a place to be and they didn’t mess around getting there. I do wish Dornan appeared sooner, perhaps more drama could have been created here but with that being said, the last 20% was action packed and I’m sure many fans will be pleased.
“What, you think you’re getting out of this alive, Donny boy?” Jase asks. I glance at him, something squeezing inside my chest. My dear boy. My Jase. We might just make it out of this yet.”
I love that Lili could still manage to capture some lovely moments between Jase and Juliette. They had been through hell and it still wasn’t over but they had each other and their bond only strengthened.
“He kisses me, even though we’re both covered in… blood, and I kiss him back. It’s not pretty, and it’s not nice, but that’s okay. Because, in our own world, it takes the taste of death in your mouth, bloody and warm, to truly understand what it means to be alive.”
Sure that quote may not scream romance to some, but for these characters I have grown love, it was perfect for them.
The time came, for the big showdown. I wasn’t on the edge of my seat with nerves but I did enjoy how it all went down. It ended the only way it could and it offered closure to one small part of the series.
“I level my eyes at him and really look at him. Just me and him. Juliette Portland and Dornan Ross, in one spectacular face-off. Only one of us is going to leave this room alive, I know this now, and I hope to fuck that it’s going to be me that leaves without the aid of a body bag.”
Surprisingly, I didn’t mind the ending. If you read the author’s note, Lili explains the ending and I agree, it would have felt disingenuous if it had been rushed or covered in hearts and flowers. That isn’t the life Jase and Juliette lead. I will wait to see what the future brings but for just now I can enjoy a good ending to my favourite serial to date.
If you are new to this series then go get book one immediately and binge until you have read every single page. You will not regret it. Honest!

One love was the final book in the Gypsy Brothers series by Lili St Germain and the one I have been waiting for!!! It was going to be the last showdown between Julz and Dornan, and I was desperate to know how it was all going to end.
“The thing about bargaining with a madman is that you never know just how far he'll go”
One Love picks up where Two Roads ends, and we find Julz on her quest to find and ultimately to kill Dornan. I’m not going to say anything more about what happens, as you just need to read it. I will say for the most part the storyline had everything that I was expecting. It was violent, bloody, action-packed, had some twists and turns.
"The saddest thing about betrayal is that it never comes from your enemies."
I did think it wasn’t as dark, and messed up as it could have been and as some of the previous novellas were, however saying didn’t mean I didn’t love/like it. I just think I was getting impatient, as the whole time I was reading it I just wanted Julz to find Dornan, so that he could meet his ending. I understand we need to know how she finds him, and how others such as Jason, Elliot, and Luis play a part in this. But I wished their showdown had come sooner in the book, and played out longer. I hate that man!!! And I wanted him to suffer in the worst possible way. Haha!!!
“I cannot rest until he’s dead and buried, a rotting corpse in the cold ground, a memory and nothing more. Dornan Ross needs to burn for the things he’s done”
I did devour this book in a few hours, and that says something again is the testament to Lili’s amazing writing. I was glad that Lili wrote what she did at the end after the story had concluded. As the ending wasn’t what I was expecting, well it was for that evil psychopath Dornan of course but for Julz and Jason. So after reading what she had written it all made sense, this was Julz’s story on her revenge on Dornan and it now over. Her story with Jason is now only just truly beginning.
“I can’t bear to be away from this man, not even for the six hours we’ve been separated, let alone the six years we endured apart”
Overall, I have loved this series, being on Julz’s passionate and crazy journey of vengeance, redemption, and retribution. It is one of my top favorites for 2014, and I would like to thank Lili as I said at the beginning of my review of Seven Sons. I love my fighters especially MMA ones. I had not read a biker book before, and therefore the Gypsy Brothers series (Gypsy Brothers #1) was my first intro to the world of bikers. And I have to say what an amazing one it was. I will certainly be reading more.
If you haven’t read this series then, you’re in for a treat as you can read it all in one go. No waiting for the each one to come out. If twisted dark romance stories are your thing then, you won’t be disappointed. I would highly recommend that you 1- click the whole series now.
I’m looking forward to reading more from Lili 2015.
