“Elpidio is your rebirth, your second chance at life. You are a victim of circumstance, not a sinner by choice.”
I’ve been a huge fan of this series from the beginning and even from book one, Ally’s mystery man was hinted at so I couldn’t wait for the big reveal. I must admit when I found out who he was before starting the book, I did wonder how Tillie Cole would link their two worlds, how would it be made believable that two unlikely people would cross paths and fall in love. Now, after reading the story, I have to say the author did it flawlessly.
Ally has always been a romantic at heart. She helped her cousin and best friend through their toughest times and she was their biggest cheerleaders when it came to them finding true love but Ally put other’s needs before her own and then she used work as a shield, another excuse to keep her heart locked away. But when she discovers Elpidio’s marble sculptures, she’s moved. The sculptures speak to her and so begins her love for Elpidio and his work but the only problem is; no one knows who this elusive artist is.
“I knew to many, the idea of being in this man’s company would be a living nightmare. But, to me, being in his strong arms was the sweetest of dreams…my heartfelt wish come true…my bolt of lightning.”
From the moment I started this book I couldn’t put it down. I adore Tillie Cole’s writing and the excitement, tension and hope grew with every page. I was rooting for Ally and her man from the beginning and the characters we know and love from the series were very much a part of the story too.
Elpidio stole the show; Sweet Hope was ultimately his story. Elpi struggled with his past actions and he refused to accept Ally’s kindness but the more time they spent together, Elpi learned to open up to Ally and to finally confront the demons he struggled with daily.
“She was light. A blazing golden light. When you’re locked in perpetual darkness, you’ll do anything to fucking chase that light.”
Sweet Hope is a heart-breaking story filled with love, redemption and of course hope. I strongly recommend reading this series in order. Although books one and two aren’t really necessary for this particular storyline, I felt my knowledge of Rome and Molly added to the reading experience and my eyes were tearing up with every chapter.
I’m sad to see this series come to an end but it couldn’t have ended on a more perfect note and it will be one of my favourites series’ of all time.
