Blog Tour - Twisted Together (Monsters in the Dark #3) by @PepperWinters ~ Ava's 5++ Star Review and Giveaway
Q no longer looked devilish but royal.
My heart flew free, fluttering to the ceiling.
“Donne-moi tes mains.” Give me your hands. The order whispered through the golden light, quintessentially him. His raspy, melodic voice had a power over me he wasn’t aware of. I instantly locked my wrists together, jutting them toward him.
Q didn’t say a word as he accepted my gift, wrapping soft, black fabric around me. The silk looked like morbid blood, as if I’d slashed my wrists in a fit of insanity.
The moment he’d restrained me, Q tugged the cord, making me stretch even further across the table, securing it somehow. Once tied, he strolled back toward me, setting my heart jumping and body dissolving under his intense stare.
My back was icy cold while my front was toasty warm. The two sensations, coupled with my lack of mobility, made my lungs suck in air as if oxygen was about to go extinct. The closer Q came, the more lightheaded and woozy I was.
I flinched as he cupped my ass.
“What are you going to do?” I didn’t bother testing the binds. I knew Q—he had a way with ropes—there would be no chance of escape.
“Sometimes, the only way to make your dreams come true is to shatter them,” he said, circling me like a predator. “Sometimes, the only way to make your nightmares disappear is by facing them.”
"Tess and I were formed in the dark. The dark had moulded us, changed us, almost broken us, but in its black embrace we would find healing and peace."
*I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.*
Q and Tess had already been to hell and back so, I was unsure how much more they could survive. When I think of the events in Twisted Together, it actually is quite the perfect ending and the tables had to be turned for this couple to survive.
“Intertwined, tangled, knotted forever,
our souls will always be twisted together,
our demons, our monsters belong to the other,
Bow to me, I bow to thee, now we are free”
Q proved again and again that he would go to the end of the earth for Tess. But it was time for Tess to step up and prove her worth to Q. Tess was broken since returning to him and she had to find her way back to the girl she was but also, she had to make peace with her actions and her new persona. I had always been a fan of Tess, I seen strength in her weaknesses and I never doubted her love for Q since the very beginning but I fell for Tess completely in this book, she came into her own and it was her turn to prove how far she would go for her master, Q. I adored the change in her and may have even done a fist pump or two when she stood up for herself and became the new and improved Tess 2.0.
“I’m Tess Snow. And I would survive or die. I was done just existing.”
“His dark taste unlocked the final piece of the true Tess. My journey was over. I’d gone from weak to strong to tamed. I’d gone from lost to scared to found.”
“My life would never be the same. The chrysalis of the Tess I never thought I’d find finally cracked its final layer. I emerged into my new world wondrously happy, courageously strong, and deeply in love.”
Q, my beautifully broken Q. Never have I wished more for a book character to be real. I love the bones of this man. Q has battled with his inner monster for his entire life and he never felt worthy of Tess yet by the end of Twisted Together Q had finally met his equal. He would still be forever haunted by his past but he took solace in Tess and with her by his side, he was making peace with whom he was. This was probably my favourite part of the entire series.
"For the first time in my life I'm vulnerable, all because I fell in love."
“By marrying me, you’re taking all of me. Everything that I am. All that I will be. You’re accepting my lightness, my darkness, my fucking eternal spirit.”
“Once you’re truly mine, I might find the guts to show you a little of what I’ve hidden all my life. I want to welcome you into my world. I want to share everything that I am. I want to teach you everything that I know.”
I felt every emotion possible when reading this book, Tess and Q have been through so much and I feel like I have lived through it with them. Twisted Together broke my heart at times when I was reading it, but I powered on, as I knew, the end was in sight and it would be worth it. This couple had come too far and survived through the unimaginable not to make it to the other side. I knew their ordeal would make the victory that much sweeter.
“When I say the words ‘til death do us part’ I’ll mean them. There’s no escape once you sign the contract, Tess. Call me old fashioned or a possessive bastard, but you’re mine. Forever.”
“I let her pour everything from her soul into mine. I would bear it all for her. I would make her whole by sharing her pain.”
Usually in a story, you survive the roller coaster of emotions and then their journey abruptly ends and I’m left feeling bereft as there is no debriefing and I am more often than not left with more questions than answers. In Twisted Together, there was plenty of ‘after’ with Tess and Q, their healing was just as important, (if not more) than their ordeal and I was glad that we were given the time to witness them convalescing and simply being as one.
“His heartbeat thudded, and I knew I wouldn’t have one lifetime with this man-I would have multiple. I refused to believe death would tear us apart. He was me as I was him. There would be no separating us.”
I adore Pepper Winters' writing; I seriously can't get enough of it. My pages are full of ever colour imaginable as I highlighted passage after passage. I felt every emotion alongside Tess and Q, I was sucked into their world and I didn't come up for breath until I was done. Some people may find the content a little uncomfortable or hard to read, I worry my ease with the content should be more alarming to me ;-) I embraced Tess and Q and I lived in the dark with them, the metaphor of dark and light (especially at the end) was so fitting for this couple. I loved every word that graced the pages.
“Tess, I will protect you till my last breath on this earth-and even longer if I can. You’re mine. You should expect nothing less.”
I also have to mention the increase of French used in Twisted Together, Q was hawtt!! I really need this on audio book so I can have a sexy French man whispering in my ear! Q exudes power 24/7 but with him speaking to Tess in French and with Tess now on an equal footing and answering him back in his mother tongue, this was one smokin' couple!
"Jamais. Ils ne prendront plus jamais ce qui est à moi." Never again. Never will they take what's mine."
“Je suis à toi. Je suis ton monster dans le noir pour tojours.” I’m yours. I’m your monster in the dark forever.”
Tess and Q had a lot going on, that goes without saying. The drama was amped up, the stakes were higher and my nerves were frayed. But amongst all of that, Tess and Q wouldn't be who they were without the raw sexual connection they shared.
“With eyes locked, we froze at the temptation of sex. The room dripped with anticipation. I bit my lip as he pushed forward, stretching, taking. He stopped halfway. His eyes glittered, looking at where we joined. The basest of human acts, the rawest form of love.”
There is a teaser at the end of the book, hinting there may be more to come in the form of a novella from Tess and Q. I could read about this couple from now to eternity so I do hope this is true and I would happily read a sexy novella from this couple (no more drama for them I hope as they have been to hell and back).
Twisted Together is the perfect conclusion to Tess and Q’s journey. Fans of the series will love how it ends and for newbies I suggest this is one collection you immediately move to the top of your TBR pile. Pepper Winters is the Queen of dark romance and you need to meet my favourite book couple of all time, now!

Pepper Winters wears many roles. Some of them include writer, reader, sometimes wife. She loves dark, taboo stories that twist with your head. The more tortured the hero the better and she constantly thinks up ways to break and fix her characters. Oh, and sex… her books have sex.
She loves to travel and has an amazing, fabulous hubby (who speaks French—hot!) who puts up with her love affair with her book boyfriends. She loves to hear from her readers so hit her up at email@example.com
