Oh my goodness talk about a near perfect hero! Nico really has it all! Covered in tatt’s, check! Prince Albert, check! Possessive and protective, check! Sense of humour, check! Okay, you get the point. Oh wait, just one more, insanely sweet without compromising his bad boy cred, CHECK!
From the very first chapter I was hooked. Nico had me smiling like the crazy fangirl that I am. The moment he set eyes on Sophie in chapter one was like YES! I just knew I was going to fall in love. And boy did I ever! Dear sweet Sophie didn't stand chance, and neither did I.
Sophie is super sweet and extremely naïve in the sexual sense. She is also endearing, funny and unassumingly sexy, something that Nico couldn’t seem to resist. She had shut herself off from the world other that her job and the one best friend she left back home. Circumstances from her past made her afraid to date, or really to come into contact with most people. It’s a good thing Nico came along, he doesn’t take no for an answer. And who could resist him and his ice cream anyway? Certainly not this girl!
Now, as much I loved the characters in this book, some of the storyline left me with the need for more details. Jax and Ashlyn for instance. I wanted to know the how, where and why that event happened. Not that it just happened and then oh… it was resolved. And without giving spoilers, there was also the Sophie ordeal where Nico did some serious damage to people that hurt her. I wanted to know what happened after that. Why exactly were there no consequences for him. How did that all play out?
Anyways, other than those few details I really needed more of, this was an excellent read! I couldn’t put the book down, and I am so happy there was a HUGE epilogue too! It was great to see the progression of their new family dynamics. And just to let you know, this was the first book in the series that I read. Now I have to go back to the beginning and hope to fall for the other Mayson brothers as much as I did with Nico.
“I knew the minute I saw her that she was it.”
Oh Nico, Nico, Nico… This man I swear!!
There is definitely something to be said about a man like Nico and a book like this. And the fact is simple—sometimes you just really need it. I’ve read several stories where the man is overly possessive and too abruptly whipped too soon. And to be honest, they are annoying as hell! What is different about Until Nico? I’m not exactly sure, like at all. I have no clue why this book was different, it just was. Is Nico stubborn and demanding and overbearing? Yeah, totally! But he’s also not a dick. He’s probably one of the sweetest, hottest, most stand-up dudes around and I found it really hard not to love him. He’s strong and aggressive and sexy and kind, and everything to the one that needs him to be.
“Tell me good morning with your mouth, Sophie.”
Basically Sophie and Nico meet each other in a very unconventional way. And the minute Nico sees Sophie he’s done for, like REALLY done for. Is it cliché? Yeah, a little but honestly I didn’t care. The way he relentlessly pursued Sophie is honestly what any woman would die for, so I’m gonna go ahead and throw cliché right out the window! Because I believe men like Nico do exist. He is honestly a PERFECT book boyfriend.
“Even in sleep he looks dangerous”
When Nico starts going after his sweet Sophie, he realizes that she has some major walls up. She doesn’t date AT ALL. She lives alone and has virtually no friends. She obviously has a past that is making this happen for her, but she’s reluctant to even speak about it. Nico refers to her as his “skittish kitten” and that couldn’t be further from the truth.
“You are the kind of woman that makes a man feel like he has it all, or make him feel like he has absolutely nothing.”
Nico is a headhunter, his natural reaction is to seek out a problem and diffuse it. So when he sees apprehension in Sophie’s eyes he obviously wants to find out what the cause is so he can squash it. The only problem is that—the closer Sophie and he grow, the more he realizes what a challenge it’s going to be to protect her. And trust me when I say he HAS to protect her. Nico is the epitome of an Alpha male. And it is OHHH SOO HOT! If that man told me to eat a stick of butter I would probably do it.
“It’s only right I make you feel safe, because you make me feel whole.”
The love grows quickly and fast, I’m not gonna lie. BUT it totally works for me! To be honest I was worried around the half way point that I would get bored. But I totally didn’t. SO much more stuff happens. I CRIED… LIKE REALLY CRIED! Not once, not twice… I can’t even count! I cried happy tears, angsty tears, sad tears, happy tears again. It was just very emotional in the last quarter of the book for me.
On top of all of that, the whole gut of this story is ultimately based around family, and how important it is to love one another no matter what. The family dynamic is one of those things that I yearn for in books, and this one most definitely had that, LIKE A LOT! Nico’s brothers and their families are a crucial part of why Nico is the great man that he is. And SOPHIE! She came across so weak and fragile at first. And to see the power of hope and love change her into a strong, secure woman was just perfect. SO perfect.
This book definitely has some insta-love going on, but please don’t let that sway you!! The characters alone are great enough to carry you along. And NICO! Ahhhhh. My co-blogger told me he was wonderful, and I will always trust her from now on because Nico was EVERYTHING, if you could bottle a perfect man it would be him.
“I knew that he was everything I wanted and needed. I knew deep down, even the night I ran away, I would have to go back to him; I wouldn’t be able to stay away.”
