There are about five seconds of calm and blissful ignorance after I crack my eyes open. Five seconds when I stare at the white ceiling looming not far from my face, as my eyes adjust to the dim light, Las my brain just sits idly, waiting for the neurons to start firing.
And then the avalanche of confusion hits.
Where am I?
How did I get here?
What the hell happened?
I roll my head and find my sister’s face only a few inches away. “Kacey?” I whisper.
She moans, and my nostrils catch her rank breath. I cringe and turn away. Too quickly, it would seem, as a sharp, stabbing pain pierces my brain. I cringe a second time.
We’re in my dorm room. That much, I can quickly deduce by the cramped space and a few personal belongings. But I don’t remember coming home.
What do I remember?
My hand slides feebly up to my face to give it a good rub while I pick through my foggy memory, trying to piece together the night… Bits of blurry images flicker so faintly that I’m not sure they’re real. Shot after shot. After shot. Orange, blue, green . . . Kacey and me doing the robot on the dance floor? I groan and immediately wince at another throb of pain in my head. God, I hope not. From there . . . nothing. I remember nothing. How can I not remember anything?
Kacey moans again and I’m assaulted with another wave of that foulness. Swallowing several times, I accept that my breath can’t be much better and that I would kill for a bottle of water. I push my sheets off my body with slow, uncoordinated kicks.
And I frown as I take in my exposed flesh. Why am I . . . Oh, right. I was wearing that stupid toga last night. That doesn’t explain why I’m in nothing but panties now, but my head hurts too much to think about tha . . . Whatever. It’s only my sister. And Reagan, but she’s a girl.
I struggle to sit up, groaning as I push my hands back through a mess of knotted hair, squeezing my temples to relieve some of the pressure. And why does my head feel ready to burst! I think if someone walked in here with an axe, I’d stretch my neck out for a clean cut.
There’s already a vile taste in my mouth when a surge of nausea hits me. I need water. Now. With shaky arms and legs, I rock my body around and down, not wasting time with the ladder and hoping I don’t step on Reagan’s head. If I can just make it to the mini fridge and chug a bottle of cold water, I’ll feel better. I know it…
A second later, as my feet hit Reagan’s plush white shag rug by the bed, I get my second shock of the morning.
An ass. A male ass. And it’s not just an ass. It’s everything. There’s a very large, very naked guy sprawled out on Reagan’s bed, his legs and one arm hanging off the edge. By the mess of honey-blond hair poking out from beneath the covers in the corner, I can see that Reagan is buried somewhere in there.
I can’t stop staring. I’m standing there in nothing but underwear, the room is spinning, my mouth tastes like I drank sewer water, and I’m frozen, focused on this naked man in front of me. Partly because he’s the last thing I ever expected to see when I climbed down. Partly because he’s the first naked man I’ve ever seen. Partly because I’m wondering what the hell he’s doing here.
And . . . what is that on the top of his left ass cheek? My curiosity overtakes my shock as I step forward cautiously, hesitant to get too close. It looks like . . . a tattoo. It’s red and puffy. I’ve seen pictures of fresh tattoos and that’s what they look like. Like, really fresh. It’s a fancy scroll font and it reads “Irish.” Irish? I frown. Why is that word jogging my memory . . . ?
The floor creaks as my weight shifts, startling me. I abruptly back away. The sudden movement makes the crammed room spin. Water. Right. Now. With wobbly legs, I stumble toward the fridge and my robe that hangs on a hook by the door. Unfortunately, our dorm rooms are tiny and, let’s face it—I’m an ox in a closet when I’m nervous. My back slams into Reagan’s dresser, hitting it hard enough to knock over an array of her glass perfume bottles. I hold my breath, hoping the loud noise isn’t enough to wake up the naked giant.
No such luck.
My heart stops beating as I watch the guy’s head roll over to face out. He cracks open his eyes.
Oh. My. God.
It’s the Jell-O thief. It’s Ashton.

For a brief second, I seriously contemplate pushing the emergency button and stopping the elevator, so I can push her back against the wall and kiss her fiercely before pulling away and leaving her. Regain a little of my control and power over the situation.
But as the elevator continues up and my arms stay at my side, I realize that I can’t go through with it and honestly I have no idea why. She’s messing with my head and I don’t know what else to do besides stare at my reflection in the shiny steel doors for the rest of the elevator ride. When the doors open, I let out a breath of relief, glad we’re coming to the end of this strange, silent journey. As we approach Violet’s dorm room toward the end of the hall, I spot Kayden and Callie standing in front of the door. They’re smiling as they talk to each other and they make it look so easy, so natural, like it’s as simple as breathing. But even breathing is difficult for me sometimes.
Callie says something and Kayden laughs, but when he sees me walking up the hallway with Violet his expression fills with inquisitiveness.
“What’s up?” he asks as we walk up to them. He glances from Violet to me, then his eyebrows arch, his eyes widening a little.
Callie steps out of the way as Violet moves out of my arm and drags her foot as she moves up to the door. “Are you okay?” Callie asks, looking down at Violet’s ankle.
“Yeah,” Violet answers with indifference as she punches in the code to their room with her finger. The lock beeps and she shoves the door open, tossing her book aside as she starts to shut the door behind her. I’m about to call our stubborn challenge a tie, when she pauses with the door still open a crack, her eyes sparkling with life for the very first time, and says, “Thanks, Mr. Stoically Aloof.”
“You’re welcome, Violet with no last name,” I tell her and then she shuts the door.
One of Jessica’s many talents is that of writing incredibly fucked up characters. Violet and Luke certainly did not escape this fate in their story.
“Take whatever you want. Nothing I have left in me is worth anything anyways”
Violet has been shuffled from foster home to foster home since the age of six when her parents were murdered. Never finding the right fit, or coming across horrible “parents” within those homes, she never really felt loved or even wanted it because of the fear of it all being taken away from her again.
Then Violet moves in with Preston, her new foster dad. He uses her to sell drugs and scam college kids out of their money. And then one night she jumps out of a window to escape some angry kids, she ends up kicking a guy in the face on her way down, and that guy is Luke. And so their journey begins.
“I only want girls who can suck my cock and smile about it, without asking for more.”
Luke was no stranger to a messed up childhood. With a father that left, a sister who committed suicide and a mother… well let’s just say she will never be winning the mother of the year award. He was forced to do things no child or even adult should be subject to. Why would you make your child do that?! I’m surprised Luke didn’t fall into the same patterns as she did.
Violet and Luke come together, begin to open up to each other and start to learn that there are feelings between them that neither of them have ever experienced. But before it all really begins for the emotionally troubled couple, it all comes crashing down with the unexpected discovery of how their pasts connect them together. A devastating and shocking one that may be impossible to overcome.
In true Jessica Sorenson fashion with this series, it does end in a cliff-hanger. I did feel the story moved too slow for me. And as much as I appreciated the struggles of each character, I felt it was just dragged out a little too much and took up too much of the story. I liked the book, not as much as the first two books in the series, which happen to be two of my favourite books. I am looking forward to the continuation of Violet and Luke’s story, I just wish it could have been tied up in one book.

He gripped my ass tighter. I let out a sound I had no idea I was capable of. I was so fucking turned on. His movements on me were making me so wet I could feel it soaking my panties. His mouth moved from my neck to my ear. "You gotta quit making those sounds, baby." He kissed the spot behind it. "I'm starting to lose it."
Then he took my mouth in his, moving into me harder, pinning me to the wall. My leg on the floor moved to wrap around him. I needed him closer to me; I needed more of him.
He started to build a rhythm again. I felt that slow burn building low in my stomach. I didn't know how the fuck he was doing it. Or what the fuck he was even doing. But I didn't want it to stop. Ever. "Oh my God, Logan." I was panting; my head threw back against the wall. He was on my neck. Sucking. Hard. He was going to leave a mark. I wanted him to.
"Matthews! What the fuck are you doing?" A deep voice yelled.
I screamed, dropped my legs, ducked, and hid behind him.
Oh. My. God.
Reality set in.
What the fuck were we doing?
"Fuck." he spat. His hand went down his pants to adjust himself before turning around.
"What the fuck do you think this is, Matthews?"
Oh. My. God.
Kill me now.
"Go home!" I was too embarrassed to look past Logan to see his coach's reaction.
"Yes Sir." Logan sounded like he was about to laugh.
What the hell?
"I'll cover for you." His coach sounded different now, like he was trying to contain his own laughter. "Fuck, I wish I was in college again," he said, before I heard his footsteps walking away.
I don't know what emotion was on my face when Logan turned to me, but he laughed.
"This shit's not funny!" I whispered loudly. " I almost let you have me" I motioned with my finger at our surroundings. "Right here!"
He didn't respond. Just looked me up and down and licked his lips. His eyes settled on my face, as he brought his hand to cup my cheek.
And then his face was so close to mine; I could feel his breath on my lips. He rubbed his nose against mine. "Wait here," he said, his voice low, laced with desire. "We're not even close to being done. I'm going to take you home and I'm going to fucking finish what I started. And when I'm done with you, you won't even remember what happened just now. All you'll remember is how I make you feel when you're screaming my name."
*I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.*
I had a soft spot for Logan Matthews after meeting him in More Than This, he was an ass at times, but he was sweet and his heart was in the right place. At the end of More Than This Jay McLean wrote a sweet epilogue, but left a twist on the very last page about Logan that left my open mouth. Thus, I was really looking forward to reading Logan’s story in More Than Her.
I really enjoyed the storyline, and it’s one that I can’t say too much about as it will give away too many spoilers. I will say it’s full of angst, steamy moments, funny moments and emotional moments. The first 25% of the book jumps between the past and present, and then after that it stays in the present, this works really well as I liked the flashbacks.
The past allows you to see how the relationship started with “Her” how he fell for “Her” and how he messes it up because he doesn’t know what to say, and how to deal with his feelings. The present lets you see what happens when they see each other again eighteen months later, the chemistry, the emotions, and the attraction they have for each other is still there. They are both still hurting, and Logan wants to make right the mistake that he has never gotten over.
“Any asshole that has you, and is stupid enough to lose you, is a fucking idiot….. Trust me I would know”
“I wish I could forget the past. Forget what he did. Forget that he hurt me. Because I want so badly - more than anything else to be able to forgive him. And maybe, just maybe, we could be everything I hoped for.”
Told from Logan and ‘Her’ POV, you get to see how they feel about each other, their insecurities and how they fight to make the relationship work. Jay writes it in a way that you can’t help but connect to them and fall in love with them. Their emotions were my emotions, when they were happy, sad or pissed off so was I. It was heartbreaking to read at times. These two are perfect for each other, and you can’t help but root for them.
“The thing about Logan was that he had that power over me. His presence could make me forget all the emotions I felt before he entered a room. Because the second he’s here, it’s all him”.
“You and me. We’re going to make new memories. Ones that you aren’t afraid of. And it’s going to be amazing.”
You really get to see a different side to Logan, and I loved being inside his head. You see the real Logan; where he comes from; learn about his past, the reason why he finds it hard to love, and his heartbreak. I just wanted to give him hugs. His love for “Her” is undeniable; everything her does is for her. He’s devoted to the woman he loves.
“I can't give you much or anything at all. But when I say those words to you, it won't just be words—it will be me giving you something that means something. And you deserve to know that, to feel that. So please, let me be the first to say it—because I need to be able to at least give you that...and when I do—those three words will be yours, forever. And so will I.”
Again I loved the secondary characters; Logan’s dad, Kayla, Jake, Cam, Lucy, Heidi and Dylan, loved them all. Like before, I love their friendship, banter and how they all are truly there for each other.
“She makes you happy, son?" he asked quietly. "No," I said, shaking my head. "She makes me whole.”
Overall, I loved this story and like the first book Jay’s writing style pulled me in from the start. I was hooked and didn’t want to put it down. I love watching characters grow and mature. I will warn you it does end on a cliffhanger, and I knew this when I started the book. Therefore, I had mentally prepared myself hoping that it would soften the blow when it happened, and it did but only slightly as I was still anxious. I liked it, but I did shout at my Kindle. I can’t wait to read the next book More Than Him (Due for release in February). I know that they have a tough time ahead, and a few hurdles to overcome, but I can’t wait to be on that journey with them and hope they get the Happy Ever After that they both deserve.
If you have read More Than This then you need to 1-click this one now, and if you haven’t then you need to 1 click them both now. You won’t be disappointed.
“I’m trying really hard not to be the person that you think I am. I’m not that person. At least not with you.”
“I hate him. I hate him. I hate him. I hate him so fucking much, I want to push him up against the wall and punch him in the face. And then I want to lick it. Then rip his fucking shirt off and finger his abs while he does that annoying manly chuckle that I love. I hate him. Stupid Fucking Logan Fucking Matthews.”
“And that’s how we stayed. In each other’s arms, holding on to this night. I didn’t want to let go. Ever. Maybe it was too soon. Maybe it was too intimate. Maybe it was too perfect.”
“She became more than just my girl she became my everything“

Pieces For You is a captivating journey of survival, healing, and sacrifice—teeming with honesty, humor, unexpected twists, and love’s unsurpassed endurance.
• This story is appropriate for readers 18+
• Though Only For You is a part of the For You Series, the book can be read as a stand-alone.
I am speechless. I didn't think this book would affect me the way it did. Powerful. Emotional. Beautiful. Genna Rulon's Pieces For You is a story that starts with your heart in small pieces, and it is slowly put it back together again. The author made two people that were shattered, whole again. I got all the FEELS with this one!
"I love you in a way that will never ebb or fail—it will thrive and deepen every day. I don’t want to experience life without you ever again; I don’t want to live without those pieces of me.”
While this book can be read as a standalone, I recommend the first book, Only For You as you truly get to understand the back story of book 2 a little more. We are introduced to Samantha (Sam) Whitney as she survived the unthinkable. After weeks in a save haven, she returns to real life to adjust again. Griffin Evensen has always had a thing for Sam. However, he has always been in the background, waiting patiently. Once he hears of the incident, Griffin realizes life is too short to not tell someone how you feel. Eventually, him and Sam end up in a routine of spending time together and ultimately fall in love. With Sam's past, love isn't easy. She has a so much to deal with, but Griffin is there every step of the way. I swooned over Griffin the entire book. He gave me goosbumps. He made me cry and laugh. He made me FEEL. His actions to protect Sam jeopardizes his relationship with Sam. You NEED to read and find out what happens! I cannot say too much without giving it away. This story of loss, hope, and true love is honestly one of the most beautiful love stories I've ever read. Love is powerful.
I am still reeling over this book. I had to write my review right away as I wanted to capture all the emotions I felt as the book ended. I loved the first book in the series with Hunter and Everleigh. But this book blew me away! Watching someone so fragile fall in love was beyond words. Sam found solace in Griffin. She found that if someone could love her with such conviction then she should love and be loved.
The writing style of the author is flawless and captivating. She has a way to grab you into the story from beginning to end. You become so engrossed in the story and connect to the characters that putting the book down is not an option. The characters are so genuine and you feel every emotions expressed in this book. Every. Emotion. Whether they laugh or cry, you are in that moment with them. The author doesn't tell this story, she allows you to LIVE it.
This book is so much more than romance. It is about love conquering all. About a woman surviving and overcoming the unimaginable. I applaud the author for taking on such a difficult topic. No matter what, Sam didn't play the victim. She overcame. She realized her worth. That she not only deserves to love, but also to live. And she did so, passionately. This amazing story cannot be recommended enough. With love and hope all things are possible.

“I love that you love me, professor.”
“I love loving you, beauty.”
Since their intense, passionate beginning, Professor Dean West and his wife Olivia have fought dark secrets and betrayal in order to save their marriage. Now reeling in the aftermath of a personal tragedy, Liv and Dean are driven further apart by a vindictive threat to Dean’s career.
Struggling to stand on her own for the first time in years, Liv is determined to defend her husband and prove herself. Then an unexpected letter dredges up old insecurities and endangers Liv’s newfound independence. As Dean fights for his professional life, he is forced to confront his worst fear when he discovers that he can’t protect his beloved wife from her own painful past.
Oh, how I've loved this series! I have followed Dean's and Olivia's love story from the very beginning, and they will forever live in my heart as one of my favorite literary couples ever. This book, as with the rest in this series, is full of romance and passion, and the love between these two characters will bring you to your knees. One thing I absolutely loved about this series from the start, was that we got to experience life after the happily-ever-after. This author portrays married life-- the ups, the downs, the struggles, and triumphs, in a very authentic and genuine way. I feel like I've come full circle with this couple. I've laughed with them, cried with them, and rooted for them the entire way. To see their journey end is bittersweet, but Awaken was a lovely conclusion and it definitely did their romance justice.
"My husband and I will always be two people living one life of perfect imperfection"
For Dean, who is comfortable in the role of Liv's "knight in shining armor," this is a struggle. He always puts Liv's well-being and safety above all else, and, being so far away, feels like he isn't able to protect her as much as they both need him to.
"...Still scares me sometimes. How much I love her. All this stuff about her needing me, relying on me, depending on me… when I’m the one who can’t take his next breath without her."
“Somehow, always, everything is okay when it’s just the two of us alone together.”
"You're the only woman I want to look at, beauty." His deep, affectionate voice warms me to my toes. "The only woman I can see."
"Pie love you, professor," I whisper. "Have faith in me, okay?"
Ah, Liv." He presses his lips to my forehead. "I don't have faith in anyone but you."
As someone that has followed this series from beginning to end, I must say this is one of my favorite romance stories EVER. We are taken upon a journey between two beautiful individuals as they live their life as man and wife. Their all consuming, passionate love captured my heart the moment I started reading. Their epic conclusion to their story is bittersweet. While Dean and Liv may stay with me forever, I was so happy the way their story ended.
"You and me, professor," I whisper.
"You and me, beauty."
Knowing that this was the end of Liv and Dean's journey, I took my time with this one. I held on to every word, every sentence of their story. The writing? Beautiful. Flawless. Breathtaking. You do not read this story, you simply LIVE it. It continues the issues that Dean and Liv faced in the first two books, but on a much deeper level. How much can this couple have thrown at them? Despite it all, they have each other and that is what matters the most.
"...my beautiful wife. Wanting her is like breathing. Needing her is in my blood. And loving her will always be the beat of my heart."
Do you hear my heart beating? Yes, it's for Dean West. He is the epitome of romance. He loves Liv with such a need and such a conviction that gives you all the FEELS. His love knows no boundaries. His wife, Liv is everything to him. Despite his right and wrongs, he does everything with her in mind. Their intense love and chemistry is beyond words. While their need for each other is highly erotic, it is also passionte and romantic. These raw emotions added to the story in that the love they share is undeniably beautiful.
I cannot recommend this intense and passionate story enough! While I gave the conclusion a four, the entire series gets a 5+++ from me. Yes, off the charts. The only thing that I wanted to see more in this story was perhaps something less predictable. I also wanted more time with Dean. This journey with Liv and Dean has been nothing short of amazing. This ever after story is deep, all-consuming, and beautiful. Love is limitless. Love is powerful. Love never fails.

Title: Surrender To Me
Author: Ashley Piscitelli
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Category: New Adult
Release Date: December 15, 2013
Rebecca Chase has never been interested in dating, and definitely not in relationships. She only had two goals in life, to get her college degree and to get the hell away from her house. When she meets Lucas everything that she thought she had wanted was now turned upside down.
Lucas Masterson has it all money, fame, and his dream job of being in the music industry. He knows that most people are just out for themselves and will use him as much as they can. When he meets Becca he realizes that he never really knew what he wanted. He thinks that she is the most amazing person he has ever met, but can he balance her and his crazy life?
Can two people who come from completely different worlds make it work or will the people trying to tear them apart succeed?
Get ready to get lost in this crazy romantic adventure and surrender yourself to Lucas and Becca.
Celebrity rock star, Lucas Masterson has it all. But is missing one thing. He finds that in Rebecca (Becca) Chase one day in a parking lot. He has car trouble and she does not hesitate to help. Lucas is drawn to Becca immediately. What he finds even more intriguing about her is that, she doesn't realize who he is, or perhaps she does and does not care.
Lucas and Becca end up on a date and sparks fly. This intense, passionate couple fall for each other rather quickly. While some may not like insta-love, including myself, I found this to be believable. Can we really put a time frame on feelings and love? Not where it concerns Lucas and Becca. They had a lot of chemistry and their lives made so much more sense as they were together. Being a rock star has its pros and cons, especially when trying to have a relationship. The past comes back to haunt both Lucas and Becca. It is insistent on keeping them apart. However, what Lucas and Becca have is real and undeniable, so they fight for each other. They fight for their love as they surrender to their feelings.
I found this to be an enjoyable story. I will definitely be reading the next, as I feel that Lucas and Becca's story is far from over. There is so much more to find out about the two of them. So much more love to be shared and explored. I look forward to the continuation. If you are looking for a steamy fast paced romance, then this is for you.
Rebecca Chase meets Lucas Materson in a parking lot of a liquor store, he is having car trouble, and he asks her if she can help jump-start his car. There is instant attraction between the two. Lucas feels that there is something different about Becca, and he persuades her to go on a date with him the next day. Becca not up with celebrity gossip doesn’t know whom Lucas is, Becca is shocked when she ends up at a concert that night with her best friend Jen and sees Lucas up on stage.
Becca is a quiet, independent normal girl. She is not into dating or relationships. All she wants is to get her college degree and leave home. I did find Rebecca frustrating at times as I felt she was a little naïve, a little too trusting. Lucas is a rock star who has it all; his dream job, fame and money. He has some trust issues, as he knows people may use him to get what they want because of who he is.
“To her, I wasn’t Lucas Materson the celebrity; I was just a guy in a parking lot trying to get a date with her. I can only hope that won’t change now that she knows who I am”
Rebecca and Lucas was a cute couple; they are feeling things that they have never felt before, the chemistry is intense thus resulting in plenty of steamy scenes. The way Lucas is with Becca and the way he doesn’t hold back in telling her his true feelings I thought was sweet. But that being said I did feel that their relationship was rushed and felt a bit forced at times. It was a bit too insta love for me.
The storyline was told from Becca and Lucas’s POVs about two people from very different worlds who fall in love. It not all smooth sailing as drama, insecurities, self-doubt, jealousy and secrets get in the way. I liked the storyline I just wish it had been longer as to me some parts were rushed, and had it been longer these parts could have been developed more. There were times that I felt I was being told rather than shown what was happening.
Surrender To Me was a sweet, romantic easy read. Secondary characters such as Jen added some humour to the story; she was a great friend, and support for Becca giving her some great and funny advice. The texts between the two made me laugh.
Overall, even though this book was fast paced I did like it. The ending you could say was sort of a happy one as there wasn't a cliffhanger, but it was one that also lets you know that Becca and Lucas’ story will be continued. I will certainly read the next book, as I’m curious to see what happens next.
“I’m not usually a sucker for the shy girls, but this one has something…. different”
“I don’t know why this thing is so hard for me. I want Luke; every time he touches me it’s like my whole body is on fire.”
“After our first date, I knew she was the one to make me change my ways, and since then I haven’t been able to control myself around her; she fills the empty place in my soul that I’ve harboured for so long”
“If you really feel a connection with this girl, then go for it and screw anyone who has a problem with it” ~ Lucas’s dad
“I know you aren’t used to people taking care of you, but you’d better get used to it with me. I take care of what’s mine, and you Rebecca chase, are mine”

Can she move forward or was she always destined to fall?
*This is an Adult Contemporary Romance Novel. Recommended for readers 18+ *
Cassey Emerson grew up with a rough life in a trailer park with her awful parents. Fast forward years later, after a lot of hard work, she left that behind and is now a publishing assistant at Knight Media. The day Cassey meets the heir to the Knight Media throne, Kyler Knight, sparks fly. The attraction between them can be felt immediately. This was such a great story and I enjoyed it from beginning to end.
Kyler Knights is more than your typical womanizer. Not only is he handsome, but he is a hard worker and goes after everything and everyone he wants. I love that this story has a strong female lead. She is intelligent, resilient and knows what she wants out of life. Finally a female lead that I can truly relate to. This story was more than your average fall for your boss story. It was heartwarming, genuine, and truly a great story. The chemistry between Cassey and Kyler is undeniable. While they seem to have a friends with benefits arrangement going on, it turns in to so mudh more.
With love, there is also drama and heartache. Cassey and Kyler were no exception. There were some twists and turns in the story I was not expecting. It was refreshing to read a story like this one in that the storyline was different than what is out there. Watching Cassey and Kyler surrender to their feelings was beautiful. Love was never easy for either, but together it made sense. I love the underlying message of this story. That with love all things are possible. In all things choose love. Cassey and Kyler are proof of that.
I really loved that this book was written in both Cassey and Kyler's point of views. It allowed me to connect to them on a deeper level. It also gave us a lot of insight into their feelings about each other. I enjoyed the writing style, as the story flowed nicely and it was very easy to keep up with the dual povs as it went back and forth.
I am hoping that their story continues. While this book is a standalone, I don't feel like their story is finished and would love to know what happens to Cassey and Kyler. If you are looking for a sweet and steamy romance, then this is for you.
We’re completely naked, and the feel of Kyler’s hard muscles beneath my fingertips is sending my libido into overdrive. He rests his hands on my bare hips, circling his thumb slowly, and pushes me towards his King size bed. The edge of the bed hits me behind my knees and Kyler stops.
“Lie down on your stomach,” he instructs. His voice is deep, commanding and dark. I shiver, causing Kyler’s cock to harden against my thigh. I spin around and crawl onto the bed, deliberately swaying my hips side to side. If he wants to drive me crazy, then surely I must return the favor. I lie down, propping myself up on my elbows and look behind me from over my shoulder. The bed dips and Kyler moves closer on his knees. His hands slide around my waist and he lifts me up so that my bum is propped in the air. I feel him lean down, blowing hot air across my shoulders and biting the soft flesh of my neck. A moan escapes my lips. He’s driving my delirious and the fun hasn’t even begun yet. “Tonight, I will take what I want from you, as many times as I want and you will love every second I’m doing it,” he growls. “I won’t stop until you’re completely and entirely consumed with pleasure, and filled with nothing but me.”
His words leave my breathless and wet, and he knows it. I close my eyes as he leans back. His hands move around my bum, rubbing slowly until his fingers brush my soaked entrance. One finger slips in and then another, and he rubs slowly, adding a bit more pressure. I whimper and push my bum out more, wanting to pull his fingers deeper. I hear the sound of foil ripping, and then his fingers disappear. I’d be disappointed but I’m too wound up for what’s about to happen next. The only sounds are our collective heavy breaths and it only adds to the heady anticipation.
Kyler shifts behind me and the head of his cock probes my sex. I like it; how he makes sure I’m ready to accept all of him. He pushes in a little further and I feel myself stretching to accommodate both his generous length and delicious thickness. His hands tighten around my waist and he enters me fully until I feel his thighs pressed against mine. “Oh God,” I moan, clutching the comforter in my hands. ‘”Feel me, baby,” Kyler breathes harshly hissing through his teeth. He starts moving faster, in and out, and just when I think I can’t take anymore, he slows. He’s prolonging it, I know, but I need him to deliver on his promise to take from me what he wants over and over and over again.
“Kyler,” I moan out his name, a plea.
“I’ve got you,” he says.
His hips increase their pace and he pushes into me faster and faster and I bite my bottom lip. I feel it building, deep inside. Kyler’s hand reaches into my hair and he pulls my head up. My back arches and his stroke deepens, making me scream out in pleasure. My body is on fire and I’m slowly losing my mind, but it’s the most glorious feeling ever. Kyler’s balls slap against my skin and the sound encourages him to go even faster, and harder. He lowers his body and cups my breasts from behind, never slowing his hips.
“Jesus,” he growls next to my ear. “You feel so fucking good.”
“Harder!” I scream. “I want it harder!”
The bed shakes beneath us as Kyler’s murderous strokes harden, the sound of slapping skin filling the air around us. His hands squeeze my breasts and the tip of his cock hits me deep. Every. Single. Time.
“You,” he bites out. Slap. “Are.” Slap. Groan. “Mine.” Slap. Moan.
Kyler’s hand slides down my sweaty torso and stops between my slick folds. “I can feel myself moving inside you,” he grinds out. “Do you know how hot that is? Do you know how crazy it makes me?”
“Hmmm,” I whimper. He starts rubbing my clit and pushes into me, once. Twice. When his cock hits my core the third time, my body explodes and my orgasm shatters the world around me. I shake, my body pulsating as Kyler finds his own release. He collapses into me, our chests moving up and down while we catch our breath.
“I’m not done yet,” Kyler says. “Not even close.”
He wraps his arms around my waist again and pulls me up, sending an after-shock wave through my system.
“Kyler, I don’t think - ”
“Ssshh,” he interrupts me. “Trust me.”
He stretches his legs out in front of him and I’m straddling him, my back to his front. He lies down on the bed and grips my hips. He starts moving me, slowly at first, until I’m sliding up and down his cock. He wasn’t lying when he said he has stamina. It’s been ten minutes since our first orgasm and he’s already hard again.
“I need to see you,” I tell him.
“Ok,” he replies, lifting me up so that I can turn around. He slips back inside me and I press my hands to his chest. He rests his hands behind his head and smiles up at me. It’s smug. “Your turn,” he says. “Ride me.”
“With pleasure,” I tell him with a smug smile of my own.
I start moving and rotate my hips, around and around and then up and down. Kyler’s breathing accelerates and I know I’m doing it right. I bring my hands up and rub my breasts, pinching my nipples between my thumb and forefinger.
“Oh fuck,” Kyler breathes harshly. His eyes watch me carefully and even with only the moonlight streaking through the large windows of his bedroom, I can see his eyes are black. Seeing him so turned on, because of me, only encourages me and I decide slow and steady isn’t going to cut it. Kyler has unleashed something in me and there’s no way I’m shoving it back. So I lean back and steady myself on Kyler’s thighs, digging my nails into his taut muscles.
“What are you - ” his words are cut off when use my legs to move up and down his cock. I’m in complete control now and the power is an absolute turn on. I increase my pace and start bouncing, riding Kyler hard. Our skin starts slapping again and my moans fill in the silence in the room. Kyler’s fingers dig into my hips, and without warning he sits up and flips us over before slamming into me again. Something about it tells me he doesn’t like that I was in control but I’m too close to the edge of another orgasm to care right now.
“Yes!” I cry out. “Yes! Yes! Oh fuck me, YES!”
My back arches, my toes curl, my nails bite into Kyler’s arms and another explosive orgasm rips me into pieces. I scream Kyler’s name as he joins me, our bodies humming and vibrating together. He leans into me, resting on his forearms on either side of my head, and keeps rotating his hips as we ride out our wave of ecstasy.
“Fuckit, woman. You’re going to kill me.”
He kisses me, his tongue probing my mouth as gently as his cock moves inside me. Slow, lazy circles.
“I could think of worse ways to die,” I chuckle into his mouth. My hands slide down his damp skin and I clutch his tight bum, grinding my hips into his and pushing him deeper. I’m too exhausted, yet completely satisfied, to go another around, but I like having Kyler inside me. He brushes my hair off my sweaty forehead and kisses the side of my mouth.
“Shower?” he asks.
“Uh-Uh,” I reply, shaking my head.
He chuckles and I feel it travel to where our bodies are still connected. He sucks in a breath, his eyebrows lifting up in question.
“You need rest,” he states emphatically. “But let me clean you first.”
He goes to move but I wrap my legs around him. He looks down at me, a determined shimmer in his eye.
“Ok, baby. If that’s how you want to play…” he trails off. Seconds later he’s lifted me off the bed but has managed to keep us glued together. He walks us to the bathroom, me wrapped around him in every sense of the word, and steps into the shower. He shows me what he can do in the shower and it has nothing to do with getting clean, and by the time we climb into bed, I’m asleep before my head hits the pillow. Kyler’s arms tighten around me, pulling me close into his chest.
I’m asleep, but I can still feel the smile on my face.
And I’m happy. But I shouldn’t be.

"Everyone in the world has a spark, a light inside that guides them, keeps them alive.”
Myxini School for Children specializes in training young men and women who have powerful sparks. Strikers are taught to manipulate fire. Trackers learn to find animals in the most formidable terrains. Handlers are instructed in communication with large predators. But forty years have passed since the last time they had a Reader – a student with the ability to read minds.
When Lark Davies enrolls at Myxini, he knows there aren’t many like him, but he doesn’t realize just how rare his abilities really are. He thinks nothing of being asked to keep his spark a secret; after all, he can barely control it. Thoughts and emotions flood unbidden into his mind until he can scarcely walk or hold a conversation. But just when he needs it most, his ability fails him.
Larks meets Khea, a small frightened girl who mysteriously insights his protective nature. He has no explanation for the curious strength of their relationship, and it doesn’t help that she is one of the few people in the world whose thoughts can’t be read. As he struggles to get to the root of their unique bond, Lark begins to unravel more power than even his mentor expected, but in the process makes himself a target to political leaders eager to take control.
Lark has the Reader spark. Before he went to Myxini, he had no idea what a spark was and that there were more like him out there. I liked Lark. He's sweet, caring and really protective of Khea and of those closest to him. I loved seeing him grow up through the years and learn more and more about his spark, and how to use it. I liked Khea, but wish I had more time with her to get to know her and connect with her a little more. I loved seeing her go from this scared little girl to a strong young woman. I also liked Mathias as well as Avis, even though I didn't like him at first but he grew on me by the end.
The plot was interesting, but at times I found myself getting a little bored (mostly when the political stuff came into play). I liked learning about all the little islands in the world that R.S. McCoy created and about the people in them.
Overall, I liked this book. I liked learning about their world and the different sparks. I recommend it to anyone looking for a different kind of book.
She wore light blue, and held her blonde hair out of her face with a braid. She looked better than when I last saw her: she'd put on a few pounds which got rid of her starved look, her clothes fit properly, and she was clean. Girls at Myxini wore brown fitted pants, and her narrow knees were the only hint of what she'd been like before.
I ran over to her as soon as I saw her, but the blank expression she wore made it clear she wasn’t all that pleased to see me. It had been months, and I'd almost thought she'd gone home, or hadn't had a bright enough spark after all. I could have jumped and yelled from excitement to see her.
“Lark, have you met my mentor Mathias?” She turned to look at a middle aged man who stood behind her. I couldn’t get a read on either one, though it was hard to tell in the commotion of the training area. He wore the gray coverings that all mentors wore, and despite the age on his face, his golden hair matched the yellow pendant about his neck; which itself was inlaid with a black stone spider.
“Where have you been all this time?”
“Training, of course. Haven’t you?”
“Well, yes, but–. Why haven’t I seen you?”
“Mathias is responsible for all my lessons.” She was cold and dismissive, almost as if I bothered her. I couldn’t believe it. Why is she being so weird? I only wanted to make sure she was safe, that she was taken care of. What happened?
With a wave of dismissal she walked past me to challenge Parvani and I was sure my mouth dropped to the ground. Does she have any idea what she’s doing?
“Is she crazy?” Micha asked. He seemed more worried for her mental faculties than her general well-being, though I couldn’t disagree.
They stood and faced each other as Sinha commenced the fight. Khea was at least a full foot shorter than Parvani and looked like she could be her toy. I didn’t imagine Parvani was going to let her down easy.
In a moment of what must have been suicidal desire, Khea lunged, blocked a punch, and landed her fist square on Parvani’s cheek before the larger girl dropped onto her back on the ground. It was the most impressive display I had ever seen. Once she knew what she was up against, Parvani put in real effort to fight, and for a while, it seemed as if they were evenly matched. The final blow came when Khea grabbed Parvani's wrist, spun around her, and forced her to the ground. “Yield,” Parvani let out, defeated.
Without a word to me or Micha, Khea walked back to Mathias and he led her away. It was all I could think about the rest of the day, and into the next morning. What happened to Khea? Where has she been all this time and why is she so distant now? And since when was she some sort of combat master?
The next day Khea returned alone and challenged Shaz, a move that made me feel that Micha might have been right. Unlike Parvani, Shaz only lasted a measly few minutes before the pain in his leg prompted a yield. That time I was able to catch her before she left.
“Hey, Khea. What’s going on? Why won’t you talk to me?”
“I’m sorry, I’m not allowed to.”
“You’re not allowed to? Says who? That Mathias guy?” It seemed outlandish that anyone should be prevented from seeing me, particularly Khea.
She nodded before she replied, “I’m not supposed to talk to you. Please leave me alone.” Right then a boulder fell from the sky and crushed me. I just wanted to make sure she was alright. Why would someone prevent that? What made it worse was that she went along with it. She hadn’t fought against it or refused to follow his rules. My insides ached in a new kind of pain.

Title: Rome (Marked Men #3)
Author: Jay Crownover
Genre: New Adult
Publication Date: January 7, 2014
Publisher: William Morrow an imprint of HarperCollins Publishing
Event organized by: Literati Author Services, Inc.
Cora Lewis is a whole lot of fun, and she knows how to keep her tattooed bad boy friends in line. But all that flash and sass hide the fact that she’s never gotten over the way her first love broke her heart. Now she has a plan to make sure that never happens again: She’s only going to fall in love with someone perfect.
Rome Archer is as far from perfect as a man can be. He’s stubborn and rigid, he’s bossy and has come back from his final tour of duty fundamentally broken. Rome’s used to filling a role: big brother, doting son, super soldier; and now none of these fit anymore. Now he’s just a man trying to figure out what to do with the rest of his life while keeping the demons of war and loss at bay. He would have been glad to suffer it alone, until Cora comes sweeping into his life and becomes the only color on his bleak horizon.
Perfect isn’t in the cards for these two, but imperfect might just last forever . . .
I’m going to have to give Cora top billing in this review. I loved her brief appearances in Jet and was looking forward to see what Jay brought to the table for her in Rome, and she didn’t disappoint. Cora is fun, funky and cool and has no problem telling people exactly how it is. And that’s exactly how she get’s Rome’s attention. Well that and by pouring beer all over his head! Cora is the cool, outgoing, outspoken girl you want to be, but are too afraid to be. Or the best friend you’d want, but are too scared to actually talk to her. Either way, she is pretty awesome.
Cora was looking for perfect man after being royally screwed over by her ex. She was insanely attracted to Rome, but he far from her picture of perfection. Until Rome showed her just how perfect he was for her.
She put her friendships on line with some risky decisions in order to bring Rome and his family back together again. She would do anything for him, to protect him and to heal him. She was strong when he couldn’t be and he never hesitated to return the favour. They helped each other find their way to happiness. And that’s what love is all about.
Rome… the hunky, hot, hero with a heart of gold that has that natural need to protect those around him. When he arrives back home after his final tour of duty in Afghanistan, he has a difficult time adjusting to his new life. Not only is he now retired from the military and unsure of what to do next, but he comes home to find everyone around him happy-in-love and seemingly not needing him anymore. He’s the big brother that had always protected his friends and family. He’s confused and angry at the world and at all of those that surround him.
And one cannot go without mentioning Brite. He is the owner of a dingy little bar Rome stumbles upon. He see’s the former lost soul he once was in Rome, Brite gives Rome a new coping mechanism to keep his mind and hands off the booze. He gives him purpose and a new job. And it was a pretty cool tradition that is handed from bar owner to bar owner and eventually Rome becomes that man in charge. It was a total awe moment for me, the way Brite did it.
This book really had it all. Chemistry, hot sex, AWE moments, and most of all the love and acceptance between Cora and Rome. It was also great to get glimses of Rule and Jet’s relationship progression with their girls, that’s another reason why I love series like this. You never really do have to fully let go of them all.
I am a huge fan of Rule (he’s still my number one of the series), but Rome certainly gave him a run for his money in the book boyfriend status order. Now if you haven’t read this series yet it’s about time you go and meet the Marked Men!
I love to write, love to read and all I’m interested in is a good story with interesting characters that make the reader feel something.

Title: Wake For Me
Author: Isobel Irons
Series: Life or Death #1
Genre: Romantic Suspense
Age Group: New Adult
Release Date: December 15 2013
"Finding the man of your dreams can be hard... Especially if you're unconscious."
When Viola Bellerose breaks up with her “up and coming” Irish rock star boyfriend, the feisty winery heiress takes it in stride—by making out with a hot stranger and accidentally crashing her Mercedes into the East River. Whoops.
Somewhat unfairly, in her opinion, Viola now spends her days in a coma, trapped inside the prison of her own body. With each passing day, she finds herself becoming more lost in a world of vivid and terrifying dreams, in which a tall and tortured doctor often appears in a romantic role.
First year intern Sam Philips is barely surviving his complicated life, dealing with his older brother’s death, avoiding scary charge nurses and working endless hours--all while competing against his fellow interns. His solace is the time he spends with his favorite patient, the girl he’s nicknamed Sleeping Beauty. Convinced that her coma can’t last forever, Sam spends hours at her bedside, spilling his secrets to the unconscious girl.
But what the outwardly shy Sam could never guess, is that his Sleeping Beauty is actually aware. That she's secretly hanging on his every word, and falling head over heels in love with him. That even as Sam tries to save her, someone else might be trying to kill her.
How is a girl supposed to fall in love with her doctor (and vice versa) when they have never interacted since she's in a coma? That's the question that I asked myself after reading the synopsis for this book and I, of course, had to read it and see how the author was going to make that happen.
Viola is in a coma after a car accident. Most her time is spent in these frightening nightmares that she can't seem to escape and start getting mixed with reality. Sam stops by his favorite patient's room as much as he can to talk about what's going in his life and is one of the few people that believe that she will wake up. I liked Sam. He was sweet, protective and a little dorky (which I loved). Viola feels like her and Sam are a perfect match even though she has only heard his voice and doesn't even know anything about him other than what he tells her on his visits. She was feisty and had a take-charge attitude throughout the story.
I liked the whole doctor/patient in a coma plot. It kind of played in my head like a Grey's Anatomy episode as I was reading it. I also really liked that the book is written in dual pov so I was able to not only be in Viola's head, but I also got to see what was going on with Sam. There's a little mystery thrown in. Someone is plotting against her and she has no idea who could it be. I did find it boring at times and I felt like a couple of questions I had were left unanswered.
Overall, I liked this book. It had romance, a different kind of plot, and a little mystery and suspense. The characters were likeable and relatable. I recommended it to anyone who's looking for something a little different.
In real life, I am (among many things) an indie film director and TV producer with a deep–some might even say obsessive–appreciation for onscreen storytelling and a lifelong book habit that I just can’t seem to kick.
In film, there’s nothing I like better than a JJ Abrams “show, not tell” character reveal, or a Joss Whedon banter session. Or an Erik Kripke-level “bromance.” And of course, I’m a die-hard fan of the will they / won’t they trope, where the fans start shipping two characters agonizingly long before they share their first kiss. Or in Hart Hanson’s case, like three frigging years before. (That’s right, Hart. I’m talking to you, you incorrigible tease.)
In my novels, I use my visual storytelling skills to show the reader an entire menagerie of hidden worlds. When it comes to imagination, there is no production value and no budget. But if there was, I would spend it all and then some. To me, my characters are real people, who just happen to live in my mind. Before I write, I scout locations to set the scene, I hold exhaustive casting sessions to find the perfect quirks that will ignite the maximum amount of conflict. Then, I throw in some tricky, but believable situations that allow my characters to expose themselves–sometimes in a figurative, emotional sense, other times quite literally. Rawr.
Finally, I sit back and let the story unfold. If it sucks, I cut it. I tell my characters–sternly, but calmly–to reset and do it again, but this time give me MORE. Show me MORE. Make me laugh or cry or want to hit something MORE. And then, when I realize I’ve read through the entire thing in one sitting and–Holy shit, is it really that late, and Oh my God I am SO hungry! Have I even eaten today? That’s when I know it’s ready to be unleashed into the world.
Vivid characters. Vibrant settings. Relatable problems. Together, these elements combine to form the Ultimate Literary Crack. Or, as I like to call it, “Promoting Literacy through Shameless Addiction.”
