I believe in love at first sight.
Now I know soulmates exist.
Nothing has ever been easy for us.
Every fight, every struggle, has been worth it.
I’m stubborn, but what woman isn’t?
She’s hard work and I love the overtime.
He’s frustrating and unpredictable. I hope he never changes.
I love driving her crazy. That’s half the fun.
Lou’s sexy curls.
Honeybee’s pink nose.
He still looks at me like I’m precious and unflawed.
She treats me like I’m the center of her world.
Our future will be full of happiness.
Despite everything, we’re two of the lucky ones.
I took the bait.
She was a lucky catch.
He is the wind in my sail.
She’s the anchor that grounds me.
The wake our love made is beautiful.
Every day I thank God for her.
No matter the hurdles, we’ve jumped them side-by-side.
No matter the obstacles, we’ve made it through together.
For better or for worse, I’d do it again.
I’ll love and protect her all the days of my life.
We made it.
We always will.

My beloved Casey. Your heart is so full. Generous. So beautiful. Casey loves with his entire being. But Casey and Blake? They both loved through pain. Through time. Their love endured. And it bears all. I have been on this journey with Casey and Blake since the beginning. Each book made my heart beat a little faster. My love for these two...a little deeper. And Anchor? I held on to every single word.
Anchor. If you’ve read the first two books in the series you know what Casey and Blake have been through. How many ups and downs they’ve endured. The adversity they’ve had to overcome. But regardless of the circumstance, their love is worth it. Every. Single. Time.
“Loving you forever would have happened whether I got to keep you or not.”
Casey and Blake are no strangers to obstacles . For their love shatters. But their past still haunts them. What they’ve endured to get to where they are is still something they think about. How can they love freely? What do you do when you finally get to love the one person you love more than anything in the world? You love deeply. Unabashedly. Without pretense. You love brazenly. Fiercely. You simply love.
“My love for you owns me. It consumes me. It makes me reckless and sane, with it I’m both weaker and stronger than I’d ever be without it.”
Anchor is the conclusion to a profound and moving love story. This series is for those who believe in the power of love and all it entails. For those who know that love doesn’t see people. It sees their hearts. And that love tethers to the soul. The author is brilliant in the delivery to the conclusion of Casey and Blake’s story. Her words are powerful. Poetic. Her words simply speak love.
“And she loves him. Undisputedly. Unapologetically. Unconditionally. Untamed and completely.”
I will not bore you with the specifics of Anchor. Or where the plot goes. That is for the reader to experience. To truly lose yourself once again in their story. But what I will tell you? Their love? Their love saves. Their love is unforgiving. It’s fierce. Overwhelming. Consuming. They love LOUDLY. You never question or apologize for love. Love simply has no boundaries. For love goes where it belongs. And that is their story. It’s real. It’s raw. It’s not pretty. But it’s theirs. And it’s one of the most beautiful love stories I have ever read.
“...because I carry your heart in mine.”
What an honor to have watched two people fall irrevocably in love. Two people that had no business falling. But love doesn’t care about circumstances or time. If you thought you understood the depths of their love. Or their story. You are mistaken. You cannot simply understand their love and everything it encompasses until you read Anchor. Without a doubt Casey and Blake have been through it all. Their love is a testament to what true love really means. Their love wins.

Tattooed Emotions is book One in the Tattooed Series by Alicia Rae. As I'm a fan of Alicia, I was looking forward to sitting down on a lazy afternoon to read this one.
Raelyn Jennings has been given a second chance at life. She had gone through a tough time and, as a result, it has left her guarded with her heart, and fearful of what the future hold that is until she meets Damien Heathman.
“It was as though he’d been given the power to make me feel, to awaken my empty soul and bring light to it”
Damien is sexy and confident alpha, who knows what he wants, and once he meets Raelyn, he knows she is what he wants and will do all he can to get her. Damien but has dark secrets of his own, and a painful past one that still haunts.
“Take me as I am, Raelyn”
Tattooed Emotions is an emotional, touching story about love, second chances, moving on from the past, fear, and trust. My heart went out to Raelyn with all that she has gone through. I loved her fighting spirit. I love Damien’s sexy and dominant side, but I also love his protecting and compassionate side with Raelyn. Raelyn and Damien are perfect together, their chemistry is undeniable, their passion is intense, their connection was strong, and the pull that they felt for each other was even stronger.
“My breathing slightly hitched when our bare skin connected. The delicious spark of electricity passed between us, and there were simply no words to describe it”
Overall, I enjoyed this one. Alicia with her amazing writing has done a great job of making me feel for these characters, as their emotions are real. The storyline flowed well and kept my interest from the very first page. There is a cliffhanger ending, but in true Alicia style it is not one the left, me wanting to throw my Kindle. It was one that left me looking forward to November when Raelyn and Damien story will be continued. I have a feeling it will be another emotional read, especially when we learn about Damien dark secrets and painful past.
Tattooed Emotions definitely one to one click today!

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I have loved this author’s writing since the first time I read one of her books. Her writing evokes emotions. It places you in the story and within the hearts of her characters. Unfolding Desires was no different.
“I wanted a love that made my heart soar and my knees quake.”
Roxie is left heartbroken. Her love for a man shattered by a secret. Something he never admitted to her nor himself. You do not see this coming. Determined to get on with her life, she vows that no man is ever worth the fall. She doesn’t do relationships. She gets what she wants from men and moves on. David is a bit of a womanizer. He seeks one thing and moves on. When David meets Roxie, sparks fly. They spend one night of passion together. It’s a night that shakes both of them to their core. Neither one expected a connection. But it’s there. They feel it in their heart beats. But hearts can be broken. And who wants to deal with that...again?
“The thought of being David’s only...it was more than I could ever hope for.”
Circumstances bring David and Roxie back into each other’s lives. They never have forgotten the one night where their souls connected. Where they wanted more. But broken hearts don’t seek out love. For love destroys. The attraction still remains. The pursuit is entertaining. I loved watching them fall for the other. It's endearing. Special. It made me smile. Laugh out loud. I was with them as they handed the other their heart. But when tragedy strikes, choices are made. Was love really worth it?
“My heart softened and fully entwined with hers. She became a part of me, one I never wanted to leave.”
I would describe the love between Roxie and David as magnetic. Magical, overwhelming, fierce. Your heart beats with them. Their love was profound, and all consuming. So when Roxie says love wasn’t worth the fall, it’s because David had yet to be the one to catch her. Until now. He loves her fiercely, he loves her softly. He loves her through the walls she has placed around her heart. His love knows no boundaries. His love is everything she ever desired and more. Roxie’s love for David is strong, unwavering, and never ending. Despite the choices made, their love always remained. Even when challenged. Their story is SO much more than a second chance at love. It's much deeper than that.
“With you, it’s different. I want it all. I want your smiles, your laughter, even your tears.”
The writing in this story is moving. The author effortlessly writes a book with characters that make you believe in love and all it entails. How love can change a person’s heart, how love heals. How much love makes you feel. While I consider this to be lighter than the first two books in the series (can be read as a standalone), Kristy Love has a true talent for writing heart stopping romance. Her words are meaningful, inspiring, and will leave you breathless.
“You never fail to take my breath away.”
I laughed, I loved, I lived. I hoped. Unfolding Desires was a beautiful and poignant story about choosing to love whole heartedly while risking the chance of someone breaking your heart. But love is always worth it. Love perseveres. It overcomes. Love bears all. Love wins. Always.
Screw Harper and her stupid self. I leaned my chin into my palm, a polite smile plastered on my face. Her best intentions aside, I was out on a blind date, which she set
up. I nodded and laughed softly, trying to appear that I gave a shit about this guy.
I made the mistake of telling her all the feelings and thoughts swirling through me as I watched my sister and her husband. She immediately told me she had the perfect guy for me. He was, according to her, sexy, interesting, and not the victim of a lobotomy. My number one requirement in men was that they not be boring or stupid.
His name was George. And George fell so far short of that hopeful mark that he set a new IQ low. I was amazed he could chew and talk at the same time without choking on his food. He was doing a good job of spraying it all over the table, and me.
I was going to kill Harper.
“Do you want to go back to my place and wrestle in the sheets?” George asked. Apparently he thought he was able to charm the panties off any woman.
“Oh, George, I’m not that kind of girl.” He didn’t need to know that I was exactly that kind of girl. I wanted to escape his bad jokes and stupidity. This date cured me of any misguided desire to have something more with anyone.
I let him pay the bill and then followed him outside with enough distance between us to keep from touching. Was stupid contagious? I didn’t want to find out.
As soon as we exited the restaurant, George leaned in to kiss me and I jerked away as though he were on fire. “I’ll see you around, George.” I left him there, his lips puckered and ready to launch.
I sped away as quickly as my heels would allow, got in my car and laughed to myself as I raced off. I called Harper and the bitch sent me right to voicemail.
“You are officially the worst best friend in the history of best friends. This guy had a combover, Harper! He had black hair dye on his forehead like he’d just had it touched up today! And I swear to God he hadn’t brushed his teeth in at least a year.” I took a deep breath to collect myself. “I love you dearly, Harper, but, if you ever set me up on a date again, I will poke holes in all of your husband’s condoms. That pesky-ass stork will be at your house all the damn time.”
I hung up and flung my phone on the seat next to me. I wasn’t sure what to do next. I didn’t feel like going home yet, but at the same time I wasn’t sure where to go. I pulled into the park- ing lot of a club named Allure. Maybe a drink would help me feel better. At the very least, I could lose myself in some music.
Once inside, I went to the bar and ordered a margarita. I sipped it, scanning the club, looking for any single guys and not finding any. It was a good thing I didn’t have any interest in hooking up tonight.
I finished my margarita and ordered another. My hips swayed to the rhythmic beat. Once I had my drink, I went onto the dance floor, holding my glass and dancing as best I could without spilling. My hips swung and my feet moved to the music.
I chugged the rest of my drink and set it on a table at the edge of the dance floor. Moving back into the crowd, I closed my eyes and got lost in the music. My arms were raised high above my head when big hands slid around my waist, pulling me back into a strong body. I smiled as we moved together. With my eyes closed, I enjoyed the feel of his strong body against mine and the way his hands glided over my curves.
We danced to three songs, my back to his front, before he spun me around and I looked up into David’s gorgeous blues. My breath caught in my throat and my heart slammed to a stop.
“Roxie,” he said as he moved his lips to my neck. His teeth nipped at the tender skin before he ran his tongue over it. My eyes fluttered as his hands kept moving over my body, even though we were standing still with a throng of people grinding and dancing all around us.

What an ending to this addictive series! I read this in one sitting as I refused to put it down. Once I was thrown back in to the world of Evan James and Reagan Spencer, everything stopped. I forgot how much I missed these two and how much I needed to know how their story ends.
If you’ve read the first two installments you know that Reagan and Evan had a falling out. Feelings are discovered and secrets come to the surface. Neither one could have predicted that this could have threatened the foundation of just the start of Reagan and Evan.
“She was the anchor holding him steady as he headed into uncharted waters.”
The connection between Evan and Reagan is even stronger this time around. Their banter, their sexual tension is at an all time high. While their relationship is threatened because of Evan’s addiction and Reagan’s secret, neither can deny that they feel something so deep for the other. They try to work and be cordial, but they know they are never the same. Walking away isn't an option. So much growth occurs between Reagan and Evan. Not only as individuals, but as lovers as well. Something shifts with these two. And you feel it. They become intimate on a whole different level. It's endearing and beautiful.
“Evan James was in her soul.”
This was a perfect ending for Reagan and Evan. It was realistic and genuine. It was THE ending for them. Their life is not full of butterflies and rainbows. They both struggle with their flaws. What they do know is that they fell irrevocably in love and would not change their journey to finding each other. Once again, the authors wrote a seamlessly erotic and passionate novel that had me engrossed in the story from the very first page until the end. I highly recommend this entire series.

“SO LET ME get this straight.” Dr. Glover lifted the end of his pen to his lips as his eyes narrowed on Evan over the top of his glasses. “The woman we’ve been discussing over the past few weeks finally shows you that she wants more, and you left her in an emotional heap in her office. Did I get that right?”
Evan stretched his long legs out in front of him. She thinks I fucked a prostitute the day after I left her apartment, so, yeah, that’s about right. Sighing, he leaned back into the worn leather couch. “You left out the part about her being a liar. And not someone I met in the last few weeks. She had an agenda.”
“So did you.”
“And what the hell was that?”
“You wanted to fuck her.”
“Jesus, you get right to the point, don’t you?”
“Well, that’s what you do. Isn’t it?”
I thought it was until I became obsessed with a leggy fucking blonde. Evan glared at the man whose eyes he swore fucking twinkled. “Even if it is, what therapist talks like you do? I’m positive they don’t teach you that in Patient-Client Relations 101.”
“I’ve always been a firm believer in no bullshit. I told you that the day you walked in and tried to lie to me. We aren’t going to make any progress if you don’t trust me and I don’t trust you.”
“Yeah, yeah, I know. You’re just—”
Evan waved him off. “Nothing. I guess I’m still trying to process the fact that Reagan is that little girl from so long ago. A whole fucking life ago. It’s… I don’t know,” he said, running his fingers through his hair in frustration. “It’s disconcerting. She knew me before.”
“And that bothers you.”
“Fuck yes, it bothers me. I was ten years old the last time I saw her. Innocent. And now I’m…this.”
“You’re awfully hard on yourself. I wonder if you’re upset over what you’re saying or over Reagan thinking bad of you.”
And there it was. The truth he didn’t want to admit. Reagan accusing him of being with anyone hours after he’d been with her had infuriated him. Which was ridiculous, because he knew what he was. The demons he’d been trying to fight. Why would she assume anything but the worst? But with that anger came embarrassment and shame. He hated that she’d seen him on that corner. Hated that she’d seen him with Layla. But how the fuck could he ever convince her otherwise? And why would he even want to?
“She’s a liar,” he said.
“And you’re a sex addict. Fantastic pairing.”

Title: Storms Over Secrets (Over #3)
Author: J.A. DeRouen
Genre: New Adult
Release Date: September 14, 2015
Promises are lies dressed up for the party.
Secrets poison the fairest of fairy tales.
Lies stain the purest of loves.
I’ve paid the ultimate price for my choices. The tendrils of those sins bind me to my past. The remnants of my love hold me captive.
Then he walks into my life, and makes me believe in second chances. He awakens feelings in me I know I shouldn’t have. I yearn for a future without guilt. With him, I dream of a love untainted.
Regret is a far-reaching emotion. It barrels through time like a blazing comet, and its path isn’t always straight. No matter what I feel, I cannot bring myself to regret the time I’ve spent with Cain.
But it doesn’t mean I can have him.
My name is Celia Lemaire and this is my story of broken promises.
Storms Over Secrets is the third book in The Over Series, a group of interconnected standalone novels.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Breathtaking. Emotional. I am in absolute awe of the sheer beauty and strength of this story and the characters. If there was a recipe book with the must have elements of romance, this would be THE book to include.
“Let me wash it all way, Celia.”
Celia Lemaire’s life is tainted with her past. She is consumed with guilt and regret because of the secrets she kept long ago. Secrets that haunt her an entire six years later. She blames herself. She thought her love could save, but she soon learns that sometimes, just sometimes love isn’t strong enough. Or is it? Cain Bennett feels a pull towards Celia the moment they meet. They hit things off right away, easily falling into a funny and light hearted banter. Cain has never wanted a relationship or to even get to know someone on that level. He’s content with his life. He has everything he needs. But Celia? She’s different.
“Promises will be the death of me; this is the one truth I know with complete and utter certainty.”
Celia made promises. Promises she know she’s always meant to keep. But they tear at her. Her spirit no longer the same. Stuck in the past, while living in the present. You feel her anguish. You understand her pain. Her heart is not hers to give away. And probably not ever. As Cain tries to get to know Celia he encounters her guarded heart. And he wants in. Celia tries to ignore her feelings. Why give into something that cannot belong to you? What happens when a love so powerful and consuming threatens the secrets and promises in the past? Well Cain’s heart SPEAKS louder. He does something so selfless. So moving. He finds Celia’s heart and literally takes it as his soul tells him that her heart beats for his.
“I feel it. I feel you. And no matter what you say, I know I have your heart. I know it beats for me.”
While this book is full of heartache, it’s also one of the most beautiful love stories I’ve ever read. Celia cannot fully give herself to Cain. Not without going through the storm. But eventually being without Cain is no longer an option. She wants the pain, the ache. She understands choosing love over secrets and promises comes with a price. And she wants it all. She wants the storms. Because love with Cain? It’s worth it. He’s worth it. His love is all consuming and powerful. He loves fiercely. And she wants nothing more than to embed herself in his heart.
“I know he was the love of your life. I get it, I really do. But what if I told you that you were mine?”
The connection between Cain and Celia is electric. Their story? Addicting. Putting this book down is not an option. The author puts you within the pages of their story. The characters are forever ingrained in my heart. And I have no doubt they will find a place in yours. Celia and Cain love with a love that is so paramount. They love unconditionally. Without boundaries. They love with everything. Despite the secrets and promises, their love triumphs. But this is no easy story. I could never compare this to anything else as this book is in a class of all it’s own. It’s not predictable. Their story goes places where others don’t. I found their story inspirational. Captivating. The writing in Storms Over Secrets is flawless. The words are mesmerizing .The author truly shows how much heart she puts into writing in not only the execution of the story, but the depth of her characters. Has there ever been such a beautiful love story?
“The key to finding love and keeping it is embracing the stains...the scars...”
Storms Over Secrets is an emotionally charged story that moved me. It is thought provoking, heart breaking , and a true testament to all that love encompasses. For love prevails. It overcomes
Blog Tour ~ Heart- Shaped Hack by @Tgarvisgraves Includes Derna' Review, Excerpt, The first five Chapters and a Giveaway
*** I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review ***
I was so excited when the Arc of Heart-Shaped Hack by Tracey Garvis-Graves appeared on my Kindle. I’m such a fan of this author, and as most of my book friends know On The Island is one of my favorite books. So with my Kindle in one hand and a cup of green tea on the go I got comfy on my sofa and dived right in. And that is where I stay for the rest of the afternoon, as I couldn’t put it down. The more I read, the more intrigued I became and the more I wanted to find out what was going to happen. So it’s safe to say I loved it from start to finish Kate, and Ian’s story was a brilliant read.
“Always choose love. Always choose the adventure. You’ll never regret it”
Kate was strong, kind, and selfless. She was more understanding than I would have been when Ian gave her very little information about himself. But that was one of the reasons why I like her she gave Ian a chance and she didn’t let her head rule her heart. Sometimes you have to go with that gut feeling and hope it doesn’t steer you wrong.
“She wanted to do more than kiss him. Lots more. All of this with a man she knew very little about”
Ian was an enigma to me at first, and it wasn’t that I didn’t like him because I did. He was a little cocky, but I could tell his heart was in the right place. I was just cautious, as his behaviour at first glance seemed a little unethical to say the least. But I have to say like Kate it didn’t take long for Ian to win me over there was just something about him. There was so much more to this Robin Hood, who was charming, and confident than meets the eye.
“Come on over to the dark side Kate. I’ll save you a seat next to me”
I loved Kate and Ian together such sincere characters. I adore watching their relationship developed. It’s romantic, sexy, funny (basketball game) understanding, tender, and heartwarming. They made me laugh many times with the banter that they shared together. These two were perfect for each other.
“You made it so damn easy for me to love you and just as easy to like you.”
”I fell in love with him so hard, and never saw it coming”
I like the storyline it was such an interesting concept, I loved the premise of the story and it showed that Tracey did her research. It was certainly interesting learning about hackers who knew there were “black hat” hackers “gray hat” hackers and “white hat” hackers well not me but I do now. Oh, and so do two boys aged 13 & 16 who asked what book my review was about, and it was great as it not only were they surprised but it prompted an interesting conversation about hackers. I have to say I’m grateful for “white hat hackers” .
Overall, Heart-Shaped Hack was it was and sweet, funny, romantic, smart, emotional and an enlightening read. After reading it, my advice would be to don’t try to work out what is going to happen just go with it. Tracey knows what she is doing, and she likes to throw in a few twists to keep you on your toes to stop the story becoming boring. Don’t get me start on what Tracey did to my feelings at about 70% talk about emotional, but as Tracey knows I love her, so all is forgiven.
Tracey with her faultless and captivating writing pulled me in from the start and didn’t let me go. So much so that in between finishing this book and writing up my review I have gone on to read two more of her book Covet and Cherish as expected I just loved them.
I highly recommend that you one- click Heart-Shaped Hack today.
Kate was taking a break and having coffee and a muffin at Wilde Roast Café when Ian slid into the booth and sat across from her. He was wearing a lightweight cream-colored sweater with a tan-and-green-patterned shirt underneath, and he smelled good.
Confused, Kate looked around. “Where did you come from?”
“I walked in the door like everyone else.”
“Do you live nearby?” Kate lived in the St. Anthony Main neighborhood of Northeast Minneapolis. The food pantry was conveniently located on SE Main Street, which was a short three-block walk from her apartment. The quiet brick-paved street was lined with restaurants, shops, and a movie theater and included a stunning view of the Mississippi River and St. Anthony Falls. There were also bars that featured live music and plenty of green space in nearby parks.
He shook his head. “Not really.”
“Then why are you here?”
“I felt like talking to you again. You’re seated, so you probably won’t try to strangle me this time.”
“How did you know where to find me?” She was tucked away in a back booth instead of one of the tables near the windows that looked out over SE Main, so it wasn’t like he’d walked by and spotted her.
He held a steaming cup of coffee and blew on it to cool it. “I tracked your credit card activity. According to Capital One, you bought a cup of coffee and a muffin here twelve minutes ago.”
“You tracked my credit card?” Her voice sounded rather loud and shrieky.
He held a finger in front of his mouth. “Shh, Katie Long Legs. That information is for your ears only. How’s your coffee? Would you like a refill?”
Kate did not appreciate being shushed, but she lowered her voice. “Are you some kind of cyberthief?” she whispered. And since when were criminals so well-dressed and impeccably groomed?
“I did not steal your credit card number. I simply accessed your account to see where and when you’d used it last. Then I came here.”
“If you wanted to talk to me again, why didn’t you just go to the food pantry?”
He looked at her like it was obvious. “Because you’re not there. You’re here at this café.”
“If you’re not a cyberthief, then what are you?”
“I’m a hacker.”
“Is there a difference?”
“When you said you steal from the rich to give to the poor, I thought you were kidding. Is that how you get the money?”
“I don’t steal it. I appropriate it from people who shouldn’t have it in the first place. Then I give it to those who are more deserving.”
Kate twisted her napkin. “I can’t keep the money. I’ve already spent the first two donations, but if you come back to the food pantry with me, I can return the most recent one. It’s still locked in the safe because I wasn’t planning on going shopping until tomorrow.”
“No, Katie. I don’t want it back. It’s for you. It’s for the babies.”
“It’s wrong,” she said quietly.
“It’s against the law.”
“Trust me when I say the people I took it from don’t want the law involved any more than I do.”
“What are you saying? That you’re a thief who steals from other thieves?”
He wrinkled his nose, and it was adorable.
“It sounds so distasteful when you say it like that. I prefer master appropriator of ill-gotten funds. You can call me master for short.”
“I have lots of things I’d like to call you. Master is not one of them.”

He was someone who belonged in my wildest fantasies instead of a rest stop in the middle of Nebraska.
A sexy, cocky, Australian named Chance was the last person I expected to run into on my cross-country drive.
When my car broke down, we made a deal. Next thing I knew, we were traveling together, spending sexually-tense nights in hotels and taking unplanned detours.
My ordinary road trip turned into the adventure of a lifetime. It was all fun and games until things got intense.
I wanted him, but Chance wouldn’t make a move. I thought he wanted me too, but something was holding him back.
I wasn’t supposed to fall for the cocky bastard, especially when I knew we’d be going our separate ways.
All good things must come to an end, right?
Except our ending was one I didn’t see coming.
I like this book, I did think after reading the first few chapters is Chance going to be cocky Bastard or more of an annoying bastard. But actually the more I continued to read I would agree he was a cocky bastard and one that I loved.
“Name’s Chance. “Chance Bateman. Some of my friends call me Cocky.”
While I can’t reveal too much of the storyline, I will say I loved the first part of the book more than the second part. Aubrey and Chance's road trip together was great fun. They both make me laugh many times with their back and forth banter. I liked the chemistry they had, and with Chance’s dirty mouth I can see why Aubrey fell for him.
“Attraction is way too tame for what happens when I look at you. I want to fucking conquer you.”
I did like the second half it was still funny, and it’s let you know the reason Chance was reluctant to get too close to Aubrey. The reason had crossed my mind but then was swiftly forgotten until I came to part two, and I said to myself... Ah ha! I liked you get to see a different side to Chance. He was persistent I will give him that. But I will say there were a few rolling my eyes and frustrating moments because of some the actions of both Aubrey and Chance.
However, with that being said, I enjoyed Cocky Bustard was an entertaining, fun, sexy read. One that I stayed up till early hours of the morning reading as I wanted to see how it was going to end. I’m big a fan of VI Keeland and I have not read anything by Penelope Ward before, but I will now.
I would one click this one and meet A sexy, cocky, Australian named Chance! Oh and a very funny goat.
With a huff, I got out of bed and stood on my tiptoes to look out the peephole. Why were those things always so high on the door anyway? I was surprised to find no one standing on the other side. Maybe I’d imagined it.
I flicked on the lights. The sound wasn’t coming from the entrance door. It was coming from an interior door I hadn’t even noticed before.
I unfastened the top lock and cracked it open just enough so I could see what he wanted. And there he stood.
Wearing only dark gray boxer briefs that hugged him like a second skin.
It took a minute to understand what he was doing there, even though he was holding up a toothbrush in question.
“I thought we had established I wasn’t a serial killer already.”
I opened the door wider.
Oh lord. Stop that. Right now.
“I must have left my toothpaste in my saddlebag in the car.”
I swallowed hard. “Uh huh.”
He cocked his head to the side, and his brows dipped in. “Can I borrow yours?”
“Oh. Yeah, sure.”
He walked past me and let himself into my bathroom. I waited at the door.
“You got an awful lot of girly crap in here for one night,” he said with a jumbled mouth full of toothpaste from the bathroom. “Private Collection Tuberose Gardenia.”
He was reading my Estee Lauder perfume bottle.
I heard him rinse and spit. Then there was a gargling sound. He used my mouthwash, too. Sure, help yourself.
He walked out and flicked off the bathroom light. “Is tuberose a rose?”
I shook my head, still confused by the whole situation going on.
“That’s why,” he murmured.
“I couldn’t figure out what you smelled like all day. Not sure I ever smelled a Tuberose before.” He shrugged and walked back into his room but not before turning back. “Even those little black lacy underwear smell like tuberose.”
My eyes bulged. I’d taken off my bra and panties and left them on the bathroom counter.
“Relax. I’m teasing. Do I look like an underwear sniffer to you?”
“Night, Aubrey.” He graced me with a dimple and disappeared.
AH-BREE. Damn him.
I locked the door and checked it twice, unclear if it was for my safety or his. His voice saying my name was on audio replay inside my head, getting softer and softer like a soothing lullaby with each breath as I drifted off to dreamland.
Until the knock came again.

“I wish you could see...that you could...feel what I do when I look at you. How you make me feel when you’re close.”
What I really enjoyed about this story was that it’s about REAL people. There are so many times where authors create this unrealistic world of characters that are perfect. Too perfect. Perfect face and body. Perfect jobs and lifestyles. Sometimes, the reader just wants to read someone genuine. Relatable. And I found that in Nathan and Kourtney. They are people. And people have flaws. Some that are seen and unseen. And despite their insecurities at first, Nathan and Kourtney love SO hard.
“You’re enough for me. You’re everything I’ve ever wanted.”
Can we talk about that epilogue?! It was so different and creative. I found myself giggling through the whole thing. It was PERFECT for Nathan and Kourtney. I enjoyed the natural chemistry of these two main characters. I felt for them.I laughed with them. You watch two beautiful people fall for each other. They throw away their inhibitions, take down their walls, and they love. Fiercely. They let go. They live. This was my first book from this author and definitely not my last.
Known as the quiet one with the big laugh, Melanie works for the sporting teams of a local university. Her (box) office job, while demanding, is rewarding as she cheers on her team to victory.
While seriously addicted to coffee, and somewhat challenged with all things computer-related and technical, she relishes baking, cooking, and trying new recipes for people to sample. She loves to throw dinner parties and socialize, and also enjoys traveling, here and abroad, but finds coming home is always the best part of any trip.
Melanie delights in writing a good romance story with some bumps along the way, but is a true believer in happily ever after. When her head isn’t buried in a book, it is bent over a keyboard, furiously typing away as her characters dictate their creative story lines to her even more inspired tales, for all to enjoy.

Like Candy by Debra Doxer
Publication date: July 28th 2015
Genres: Mystery, Romance, Young Adult
Revenge is sweet, just like candy.
Candy Seaborne knows she’s badass. She takes after her father, an assassin and possibly a spy, although he won’t admit to either. She idolizes him. Her dream is to follow in his footsteps. But first, she has to finish high school.
Biding her time, waiting for real life to begin, Candy craves drama and isn’t above manufacturing some. If you’re a classmate who wronged her or a boyfriend who cheated, watch your back. She’s no pushover, and revenge may be her favorite pastime.
Jonah Bryson is the senior class heartthrob who breaks all the stereotypes. He’s a jock, but he isn’t the typical player. He’s moody and antisocial. No girl has gotten anywhere with him since his last girlfriend broke his heart.
Candy sees Jonah as a challenge and the perfect distraction. But she may be in over her head because unlike everyone else, Jonah isn’t buying her tough act. He sees the lost, lonely girl inside. He sees too much. When he looks at her that way, she wants to let her guard down and be vulnerable. But that’s the last thing she should do because her father’s world is spilling over into hers, and life is about to get real much sooner than Candy expected.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
The moment we meet Candace (Candy) Seaborne we immediately know she is not the one to mess with. You break her heart? She will ensure karma finds you. And fast. And she never feels sorry about it. Candy decides to leave her aunt’s home the moment she turns eighteen to live with her father that gave her up after the death of her mother. Candy knows about her dad. And who he is. And she wants to do what he does. But he won’t ever admit it. When Candy enrolls in school she recognizes her friends that had before she left go live with her aunt. But then there’s Jonah. He’s new. He’s a jock. The kind Candy should stay away from. But she’s drawn to him. She later learns that Jonah is not the typical football player. He doesn’t play by the rules nor does he really pay any attention to her. Until he can’t help him self. And then? That’s where things get interesting!
“We act strong, and usually we are strong, but sometimes we’re just pretending.”
Candy sees Jonah as a challenge. He wants nothing to do with the girls at school, but she can't help but figure out why. The closer she gets to him, she realizes that Jonah SEES her. For the person she is. To others she is conceited, fits in, yet appears unbothered with what others think of her. Jonah sees beyond the outer shell she portrays. Candy is broken and lost. She has been through a lot and is determined to show her father she is just like him. But, does she have what it takes? With her past she is not ready to fall for a boy. But Jonah is not just any boy. He makes falling worth it. Even if it means she may have to pick up the pieces of her heart in the end.
“Jonah Bryson might be a boy worth falling for.”
Like Candy is unlike anything I’ve ever read. While it is YA, the mystery and suspense puts it in a class of itself. The character development was refreshing. Candy is not your average heroine. Not only is she full of sass, but she tells it like it is. And she has no problem going after what she wants. No matter the collateral damage. She is fun, stands up for herself, and loves harder than she would ever care to admit. She is loyal to those she loves and has THE biggest heart. She is true. Genuine. The author took a chance on a character like Candy and I am so glad she did. Who wants to read about the cookie cutter heroine? I would much rather read about the unexpected. And Candy? You never know what you’re gonna get with her. But it's real. And you can't help but connect with her on some level. Jonah is not your average jock. While he exudes confidence on the outside, on the inside he seems to be plagued by a sadness that only Candy can understand. So he lets her in. Slowly. The invisible thread that pulls Candy and Jonah together is never talked about within the book. It’s felt. And I have a feeling that this book only scratched the surface of the intense feelings between them.
“I wish I was the first guy you fell for. Then maybe the shadows in your eyes wouldn't be there...”
Like Candy is a story that simply unravels. When you get to the ending you realize the small things that you easily missed. The author is clever and creative in her writing. Can we talk about the ending? It was fast paced, heart stopping and I couldn’t turn the page fast enough. While reading the story, you definitely feel something is coming, but you don’t quite yet know. The synopsis gives nothing away. The plot of the story is original in its execution. There was a great balance of mystery, suspense, and romance. I know I am vague on the plot, but there are reasons. The reader is to immerse themselves in the story with the characters. To give anything away would be a complete disservice. I enjoyed every moment. If you’re like me, you will be refreshing the author’s Facebook page waiting on a release date for the next book, Sweet Liar. Well done.
I’ve enjoyed one of Debra’s previous books so when I read the synopsis of Like Candy I was intrigued and eager to dive in.
Candy was not your usual protagonist and I think you will either get her or you won’t. For me, I liked Candy. I could relate to her behaviour and yes she changed depending on whom she was talking to but that’s what teenagers do. High school in a minefield and all anyone wants is to fit in. It was because of Jonah that I truly liked Candy. He brought out her true character and it was due to this I wanted to turn the pages.
Jonah was an intriguing character and his air of mystery had my suspicious mind whirling. Like Candy is a mystery and my theory changed from chapter to chapter. I liked that this book was different from my usual reads, if I could only change one thing it would be the pace of the story. I did enjoy the blossoming relationship between Jonah and Candy and I felt the character building was well done but I felt the suspense element wasn’t as strong and it did have me wishing more would have happened or we could have had the whole story in one book.
Overall, I enjoyed Like Candy. Although I wasn’t on the edge of my seat I enjoyed Debra’s writing and the characters she created and of course now I need to read the second book to find out what happens!

Title: Kick Push
Author: Jay McLean
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Category: Young Adult / New Adult
Release Date: 4th August 2015
There’s a single defining moment within every skater.
It lasts only a second. Two if you're good.
Three if you’re really good.
It’s the moment you’re in the air, your board somewhere beneath you, and nothing but wind surrounds you.
It’s the feeling of being airborne.
The sixteen-year-old version of me would’ve said it was the greatest feeling in the world.
Then at seventeen, I had my son.
And every single second became a defining moment. Even the ones that consisted of heartbreak when his mother left us.
Seventeen. Single. Dad.
That’s what my life became.
Yet, every day, I managed to find that feeling of being airborne.
Or at least I convinced myself I did.
But I lied—to myself and to everyone around me.
Until she showed up; Tanned skin, raven dark hair, and eyes the color of emeralds.
You know what sucks about being in the air?
Coming down from the high.
Sometimes you land on the board and nail the trick.
Then kick, push, and coast away.
Other times you fall.
You fall hard.
And those are the times when it’s not as easy to get back up, dust off your pads and try again.
Especially when the girl with the emerald eyes becomes your drug...
And you become her poison.
Kick Push by Jay McLean was one of those books that I started reading having preconceived ideas of how expecting the story to go. And the suddenly within the first few chapters I realise this is going to be different and much more that just your normal boy meets girl story. Single dad Joshua Warden’ story wow was emotional at times, and once I started, I couldn’t put it down.
“Sometimes the basic of moments become your most treasured memories”
I’m not going to go into the storyline as it one you need to read only knowing what Jay tell you in the synopsis. What I will tell you is that Kick Push is about second chances, family, sacrifices, friendship, falling in love, trust, and happiness.
“There’s a big difference between being happy and being selfish. Choose to be happy and Fire truck the rest”
It’s not just Josh that will have you reaching for the tissue as he tries to deal with all that come with being a single parent at such a young age. There is the girl with the emerald eyes who has stolen his heart she is an amazing character, and her story is heartbreaking. I love the connection and empathy between these two.
“His touch is safe”
“I’m addicted to her. To every single thing about her. And even though I know It’s bad, it feels so dam good”
The secondary characters added to the story and play an important part of it without taking the focus away from Josh and the girl with the emerald eyes. Okay, well maybe someone did, and that would be Tommy Josh’s son. He was just too cute. Loved Tommy’s relationship with his dad, and many of the other characters.
I loved Jay’s writing is beautiful, and you can feel the passion she has for these characters. If you love, emotional, heartwarming, heartbreaking reads, then this one is for you. Don’t get me wrong yes, it emotional but, Jay still in flicks her great sense of humour that made me smile and laugh to myself and I love that.
Push Kick is a must read that you won’t forget in a hurry, and I’m looking forward to seeing what happens next.
“I see you Josh”
She writes what she loves to read, which are books that can make her laugh, make her smile, make her hurt, and make her feel.
