*I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
I have read a few other Sawyer Bennett books and I can honestly say that this one is one of my favorite by her!
Zach has been living in the middle of nowhere, also known as the Amazon, since he was seven years old and lost his parents on a missionary trip. He survived thanks to an Amazon tribe that took him in and raised him as one of their own. Even though he speaks fluent English, the Amazon way of life is all he knows and all he wants to know. His godfather hires Moira, the anthropologist, to go down to the Amazon and get him back. Of course, Zach does not want to leave his home and the father that raised him, but after a few pushes, he caves.
I LOVED Zach!!!!!! He was sexy, funny, and had one heck of a dirty mouth. Like the title says, this man is uncivilized. So it is up to Moira to teach him how to be..well..civilized. But Zach wants none of that. All he wants to know is about sex. Anything and everything about sex. And if it is with Moira even better. I also loved Moira's character. She was attracted to Zach from the get-go, but she thought that acting on it would've been ethically wrong and she would lose the job of a lifetime. Moira and Zach's interactions cracked me up page after page. The more I read, the more I fell in love with these characters together and individually.
I love the journey these characters went through and how they change from the very beginning of the story until the very end. The only small problem I had with it was that the conflict was not as big as I though it was going to be.
Overall, I really enjoyed this book. Sawyer Bennett exceeded herself and it was a great read. I am looking forward to whatever she writes next!

First of all, I need to begin by saying this book is hot, H O T T, hot!! We all talk about cavemen Neanderthals, well Zach is quite literally that. After losing his parents when they were on a missionary expedition in the Amazon, Zach was brought up in that environment from seven years old. He’s now a twenty five year old man and after his Godfather tracked him down, Zach is being made to return to America, much to his dislike. Of course, the blow is softened when a sexy anthropologist called Moira is the one sent to bring him home and introduce him to the modern world.
Moira has just been given the career break of a lifetime. She has the job of acclimatising Zach into modern humanity and civilisation. Moira has visions of helping Zach with his social skills, mindset and basic needs. Never did she imagine Zach would have a keen interest in his sexual health, and boy did he have a healthy appetite! Moira knows she shouldn’t cross the line with Zach but when a caveman wants to push you to your knees and have his way with you, who can fault poor Moira for giving in!
“I may have a little work still to do where she’s concerned, but I’ll have her bowing down before me soon… and she’ll be begging me for it.”
I thought the plot line was original and it held my interest throughout the story, mainly because it was fast paced and there were plenty of sex scenes to spice things up. This is by far the hottest book I have read by Sawyer Bennett and after reading her previous series’ I felt her writing has elevated to a new level. I felt it read like a more mature piece of writing and it really worked.
“We all need that one person we can just vent to,” “And you’ll be that one person for me?” I ask in amusement. He eyes bore into me with utter seriousness and purpose. “I’ll be your everything if you want me to.”
“I made my feelings known, and now he holds my heart. It’s up to him to decide what to do with it.”
I did like the fact Moira was older than Zach, I think this added to the storyline, Moira being in a position of power and being Zach’s teacher so to speak. I also liked Zach’s journey throughout the story. He was adamant he would return to the Amazon and turn his back on the modern world but the more time he spent with Moira and the more ways he discovered his life was now richer by her being in it he opinion wavered, it was great to see his character evolve as his experience did.
“She doesn’t need to provide me food or shelter to her, not the way the Caraican women needed me. No, she needed me in a completely different way, and I find it completely humbling.”
“I never knew. Never knew it could be this way. Never knew that losing control could be so fucking satisfying.”
What I wasn’t expecting from this book was the humour element. I was expecting it to be erotic and angsty (perhaps more than it was) but I was caught off guard by how much I was chuckling as I read, this book was funny and it added another enjoyable element to the story. From the way in which Zach was discovering his new world: “I’m finding I like my new vocabulary. Cock, pussy, and fuck. My three new favourite English words. I want to shove my cock in her pussy and fuck her hard.” To Moira’s natural humour: “He’s been acclimating well, and I think he’s even found some small joys in his time here.” At least, I think he enjoyed his time with me… when he was fucking me so hard I had rug burns on my knees.” I enjoyed it all, it added a lighter feeling to the book.
As I mentioned before, I found Zach’s history and that part of the storyline interesting, now looking back, his transition and the ease of it could be questioned. He also understood a few things automatically yet struggled with others, but with that being said, I was able to suspend my disbelief and questioning of the facts as I was enjoying the characters and the story. So I consider that a job well done.
Uncivilized is my favourite book by Sawyer Bennett in terms of writing style and characters, it felt like a breath of fresh air from her and one that I really enjoyed. I felt the ending was slightly rushed and the conflict wasn’t significant enough for what I felt the story deserved. Perhaps if we had been given more of Zach’s time living with his tribe and their history, it would have added depth to the story but we did get a sexy, gruff and funny caveman so what else could we ask for.
“Don’t ever think I don’t want you, Moira. I’m just not sure I can have you and not lose myself along the way.”
If you are looking for an original erotic romance, you won’t be disappointed by 1-clicking Uncivilized today.
