I’ve thought this series was brilliant, ever since I read the first book. The sci-fi setting, with the Japanese culture was something wholly unique. It helped that the heroine was someone I thought was really strong and admirable. Therefore, I was pretty nervous to see how things ended, as this is the last book in the series. Add to that the fact it’s been a while since I read the previous installment, and I was pretty unsure going into this novel.
Sanaa continued to be an amazing heroine. I felt so bad for her all throughout this book, because of all the horrible things she went through in the previous installments as well as this one. Still, she remained strong, and kept sacrificing things in her life in order to improve the world for everyone else. I was really hoping she’d get a happy ending.
The one to help with that happy ending would surely be Jiro. I have championed Jiro, and the romance between he and Sanaa, from the very beginning. I love how honorable he is, and how loyal Jiro is to Sanaa. He’s just so steady, and he’s always there for Sanaa. The two of them always talk things out, and they never have any misunderstandings to slow the story’s plot down. I just love the two of them together!
As I said in the beginning, I read the previous book in the series a while ago. Therefore, it took me a while to remember details, and become engaged in the plot. But once I did, I couldn’t stop reading. The story followed Sanaa as she worked to gain allies and tried to keep her family and friends together. All of this happened while Sanaa tried to have faith that things would work out for her. I loved seeing more of the new world they lived in. There was a bit of drama, action, romance, and even some grief.
Overall, I think this was a really good way to end the series. There are some details that were left open-ended, and I’m really hoping for a spinoff or something to show what happens next. Aside from that, though, I think things ended the best way they possibly could. I’m really going to miss this Japanese-flavored sci-fi world, as well as the romance between Sanaa and Jiro, though. I highly recommend this series if you’re at all interested in sci-fi. And if you don’t mind romance with your sci-fi, I’m convinced that you can’t go wrong with these books.

Duty knows no family. Love has no price. Secrets can cost you everything.
Twenty-year-old Sanaa Griffin, a sweet and smart half-Japanese girl, is about to get more than she bargained for when she wishes for love and excitement on New Year’s Eve 3103. Mark Sakai, who knows more about her than any stranger should, thinks Sanaa is the perfect person to spy on the heads of the three biggest Japanese clan leaders in Nishikyō. He wants her to gather enough evidence to keep them from going to war when they land on Earth’s colonization planet, Yūsei. Nishikyō, built by the Japanese 300 years ago to house the rest of mankind, is failing and everyone is preparing to leave.
Sakai has known Sanaa’s family all her life but she knows nothing of him! And despite all the time they spend together, he keeps his distance from her. Then one day, he brings her to Jiro, his nephew, to learn sword fighting, and it changes her life irrevocably. Between falling in love with Jiro and the information she is gathering on the clans, Sanaa realizes Sakai is holding back secrets about her family and her deceased parents, secrets as to why she was chosen for this job, and learning the truth puts her and all of Nishikyō in danger.

He inhales sharply. The look in his eyes says we’re crossing into the danger zone again. It’s the only place I want to be with him. Because when we’re there, nothing between us feels dangerous. Everything feels right.
“I turn eighteen in a few more weeks,” I say, like my birthday is an open invitation for us to slam back into each other.
He nods. “I know.”
A breeze blow by and rustles his hair. A lock falls out of place. Instinct takes over. I raise my hand to reach for his hair.
But he’s faster. He grasps my wrist, and the second he does, the moment expands. It stretches and unfolds into the thing I will replay tonight and tomorrow and the next day. I stare at his hand clasped around my wrist, flashing back to all the times he held my hand, touched my wrist, and ran his fingers along my arm. I shiver as the memories collide, the past slamming into the present.
I look up from our hands to his eyes. Blazing, full of heat. Full of all that restraint from him that I know so well.

I have only read one other Lauren Blakely book and have countless of others in my TBR. Unfortunately, I hadn't had the opportunity to read any of them until 21 Stolen Kisses came along. I mean if you know me you know that I absolutely LOVE forbidden romance stories and the synopsis of this promised just that. Of course, once I finished reading it, it was not exactly what I had in mind.
Kennedy and Noah are perfect for each other. They instantly connect over their shared love for Broadway (and off-Broadway) musicals, and they have found that they can let go and be themselves when they're with one another. So what's the problem? Noah happens to be a bit older than she is for one. How old? She is seventeen; just eight years younger than he is. But the biggest obstacle in the way of the the love between these two? The fact that Noah is not only Kennedy's mom's agent, but her mom also considers him one of her closest friends.
But this book is not just about the romance between these two. The romance aspect of it actually felt like a secondary storyline at times.
Kennedy has been weighed down by the lies of someone close to her for years. She figures that the to make right the wrongs that she feels she had a hand in is to write these love letters to those that have been hurt because of the lies.
K's character growth throughout the book and the way she dealt with what was thrown her way was why I fell in love with this book. Of course, the snippets of Kennedy's love letter to Noah thrown in between chapters was also one of my favorite things. The one thing that stopped me from giving this book five stars was the fact that I wanted to get to know Noah a bit more since the book did focus mainly on Kennedy and what she was dealing with. Also, even though I started reading this book because of the forbidden aspect, their relationship didn't really feel forbidden to me (maybe because they were so perfect for each other? Hmm Maybe?).
Overall, I really enjoyed reading this book. It had been a while since I started reading a book that I just could not put down til the wee hours of the morning. Lauren Blakely wrote one truly beautiful book and I cannot wait to read what she comes up with next!
*I received a copy in exchange for an honest review.*
“Maybe we wanted to be found out. I think I do. I do want to be found. Because I don’t want the way I feel for you to be a secret.”
I’m a huge fan of Lauren Blakely and if she writes it, I will read it. 21 Stolen Kisses may be teased as a forbidden romance but don’t be fooled, it is so much more.
Kennedy’s view of love has been warped by her parents’ marriage. Kennedy struggles with her mother’s actions and the impact it has had on her own life. So much so, the guilt is weighing her down. In the midst of it all, she meets Noah, someone who should be off limits but he becomes her talisman, someone she can rely on and put her trust in.
21 Stolen Kisses was all about Kennedy’s journey. As an emerging adult, Kennedy takes charge of her life and begins to make amends for the wrongdoing her mother did. It is only when Kennedy begins to absolve her sins does she discover the type of person she wants to be.
This is my favourite book by Lauren Blakely in terms of writing. It was romance at its best and Lauren’s words made me fall in love with love. I loved the flashback kisses and the way in which the classic love letters were weaved throughout the storyline. The romance, although it could have been frowned upon, was never sordid and I loved that it was actually Kennedy in charge of the relationship the whole time. Noah gave her the space she needed and Kennedy was the one to decide their fate.
My only wish was that I got to know Noah better. Understandably, Kennedy was the main focus and the beginning of their relationship was only touched upon but for me to fall completely head over heels for Noah, I wanted to get inside his head and discover why he fell for Kennedy knowing she was only seventeen when he was twenty-five. Their relationship blossomed from friendship and I understood the progression but ultimately I wanted to understand his actions to completely root for him.
21 Stolen Kisses is a new adult, coming of age romance, it is very different from Lauren’s erotic series, but it proves how effortlessly Lauren can switch between the two and write both styles flawlessly.
This is definitely worth a read.

Molly McAdams grew up in California but now lives in the oh-so-amazing state of Texas with her husband and furry daughter. Her hobbies include hiking, snowboarding, traveling and long walks on the beach, which roughly translates to being a homebody with her hubby and dishing out movie quotes. When she's not at work, she can be found hiding out in her bedroom surrounded by her laptop, cell, Kindle and fighting over the TV remote. She has a weakness for crude-humored movies, fried pickles and loves curling up in a fluffy comforter during a thunderstorm...or under one in a bathtub if there are tornados. That way she can pretend they aren't really happening.

First person in her family to go to college? CHECK.
Straight A’s? CHECK.
On track to graduate early? CHECK.
Social life? …..yeah, about that….
With just a few weeks until she graduates, Antonella DeLuca’s beginning to worry that maybe she hasn’t had the full college experience. (Okay... Scratch that. She knows she hasn't had the full college experience).
So Nell does what a smart, dedicated girl like herself does best. She makes a "to do" list of normal college activities.
Item #1? Hook up with a jock.
Rusk University wide receiver Mateo Torres practically wrote the playbook for normal college living. When he’s not on the field, he excels at partying, girls, and more partying. As long as he keeps things light and easy, it's impossible to get hurt... again. But something about the quiet, shy, sexy-as-hell Nell gets under his skin, and when he learns about her list, he makes it his mission to help her complete it.
Torres is the definition of confident (And sexy. And wild), and he opens up a side of Nell that she's never known. But as they begin to check off each crazy, exciting, normal item, Nell finds that her frivolous list leads to something more serious than she bargained for. And while Torres is used to taking risks on the field, he has to decide if he's willing to take the chance when it's more than just a game.
Together they will have to decide if what they have is just part of the experiment or a chance at something real.
Next thing I know, Dallas has sent the disk soaring over our heads, and when I look, Nell is standing alone, completely unguarded in the end zone.
She’s holding her hands out and staring at the disk like it’s a missile instead of a piece of plastic. I take off toward her in case she misses it. I want to grab the disk and get it back into play as soon as I can.
As I sprint, the disk slips right through her grasping fingers and nails her in the chest. She gasps; no doubt the air was knocked out of her. The disk ricochets, and if I dive I might can manage to catch it, but I can’t quite drag my eyes away from her chest. Her tits are practically spilling out of the top of the tiny tank she’s wearing. I’d had a front-row seat earlier with my arm around her. Now she’s clutching at herself in pain, but all I can see are her smooth, delicate arms pressed against the curve of her breasts, pushing them even higher.
I should look away before something very unfortunate occurs in my baggy gym shorts, but now I’m picturing that shy girl loosening up beneath me. It’s too easy to take those wide eyes she gave me when I draped my arm around her and imagine them in the low light of my room, her head on my pillow and her legs spread wide.
She makes a soft whimpering noise, and now the rest of my senses join the fantasy, and I think of how she would feel, taste, sound. I wonder just how low I could get her inhibitions. Enough to say my name? To scream it?
“Damn,” I groan, and try to clear my head. “You all right?”
She looks up at me, still clutching at her chest, and pink spreads over her cheeks. She doesn’t say anything.
“Okay,” I say. “There is honestly no way to ask this without sounding like a pig, so I’m not even gonna try. And really, in these situations, I find you might as well go balls to the wall and throw it all out there. So … at the risk of getting slapped, how are your tits?” I think about offering to check them out for her, but I figure that’s probably taking it a step too far.
Her mouth presses into a firm straight line. “It wasn’t my ...” She trails off.
“Tits,” I finish for her. “You have them. You can say the word.”
“It hit me in the collarbone, not the breasts.”
Breasts. I raise an eyebrow, and she rolls her eyes.
I take a step forward and say, “Let me see.”
I take another step, until my shadow falls over her, and take hold of one wrist. “As you pointed out, you weren’t hit in the breasts. Just let me have a look. With the right strength and good wind, a disk can go as fast as twenty miles per hour. I’ve seen them break fingers and noses.”
“Dude, Torres!” Silas shouts behind me. “What are you waiting for? Grab the disk and let’s go!”
Hesitating, I ask, “You wanna take a break? Catch your breath and let me see it?”
She shakes her head stubbornly. “I don’t want the game to stop because of me.”
I turn around and shout back to Silas, “Nell and I are taking a break. You guys keep playing with eight.”
Taking her elbow, I pull her off the field toward the picnic tables. She protests, but only mildly, and she still has one hand pressed just above her cleavage. And looking down at her, I can see moisture clinging to long lashes at the corner of her eye.
I sit her down so that her back is to the field, and go down on one knee in front of her. She’s so small that it puts us eye level, and I say softly, “Move your hand.”
“It’s fine,” she says. “Just give me a couple seconds, and I’ll be fine.”
You don’t grow up with five sisters without learning that sometimes with women, words are pointless. I reach out and move her hand myself, pulling it away from her chest. The skin just below her collarbone is an angry red, and the disk scraped through a couple layers of skin. Not enough to bleed, but I bet it hurts. “Tell me how it feels. Still a sharp pain? Or more of an ache?”
Her eyebrows slant over her pretty brown eyes. “The pain was sharp and steady for approximately thirty seconds, but now it kind of stings.”
“Like a slap,” I say.
She gives a short laugh, her shoulders bouncing once before she stills in what I’m guessing is pain. “I can’t say I know what that feels like. Though I’m not surprised it’s a sensation you’re familiar with.”
I shrug. “I don’t believe in censoring my thoughts. Some people just aren’t as fond of freedom of speech as I am.”
She shakes her head, and I think she’s trying not to smile.
I reach up my left hand and as lightly as possible run my thumb over the red mark. She sucks in a breath and I ask, “Hurts to the touch?”
“Um.” She swallows and blinks a few times.
“Does it hurt a lot?”
I brush my thumb over her skin again, even lighter this time, wondering if the Frisbee could have hit hard enough to crack something. There’s already a purpling around the center that tells me it’s going to bruise pretty good.
She swallows, and my eyes are drawn to the graceful slope of her neck, up to a small chin and full lips. And it hits me then … why this girl caught my eye from the moment she walked toward our group, why I can’t drag my eyes or my hand away from her now.
She reminds me of Lina.
And the memory of the only girl I’ve ever loved packs a punch so hard that it’s my turn to raise a hand to my chest to soothe an all-too-familiar ache.

Sibylla Matilde grew up in the mountain valleys of Southwest Montana exploring the dusty Old West gold country on the back of a horse. She attended a two-room schoolhouse beginning in 1st grade & had the same teacher until she changed schools after 7th. Beginning at about age 12, Sibylla discovered historical romance, feeding off of work of Jude Deveraux & Lisa Kleypas. She loves a book that can make the reader run the gamut of emotions, from the sweet glow of new love to gut-wrenching heartache. She is a true romantic & always has stories floating around in her head, living in a fantasyland until she writes them down to free them.
Music is her emotional trigger. Growing up with a Wagnarian-loving mother, Sibylla was raised to treasure music that digs deep into the psyche, drawing out elation, sorrow, grief, desire. The soundtrack to her life includes many genres spanning centuries. She looooooooves Thirty Seconds to Mars (rather obsessively, actually… but, really, how can you NOT be crazy about this guy!? Jared Leto. Shhh. ) & pimps them out to all her friends through Spotify. She also delights in Met Opera HD broadcasts at her local movie theater & hopes (listening Met?) to someday see Diana Damrau reprise her role as Mozart’s Queen of the Night in Die Zauberflöte. Sibylla lives with her husband and hero who saved her from her own calamitous, young-adult self. He makes her laugh daily, even when things are tough. He’s proved to her that love really can heal a shattered soul. In 18 years, they have never had a fight, although argue regularly with their two teenage kids who have, unfortunately, inherited their father’s quick wit (unfortunate as it is a quick wit that Sibylla, herself, definitely does not possess – there is a reason she is a writer & not a stand-up comedian). They live a quiet life with their two weird little rescued Chiweenies. Wait… teenagers & little yap-dogs? OK, maybe not so quiet.
Title: With Visions of Red
Series: Broken Bonds #1
Author: Trisha Wolfe
Release Date: May 7, 2015
Told from multiple points of view, this is a mature dark romance intended for adult readers.
Criminal profiler Sadie Bonds knows blood. Her affair with the gruesome, dark world of killers began long before she started applying her analytical skills to investigate gory crime scenes. She gets inside the killers’ heads, breaks them down, relates to them on an arcane level. She prefers it this way—because it’s safer to ally herself with the villain than the victim. At least, that’s how she’s coped ever since she was abducted and tortured as a teen.
She will never be a victim again.
Now, she’s honed her skills in order to bring justice to these ritualistic offenders. Working alongside her colleagues, armed with sharp wit and a SIG, Sadie always catches her sadist. Until one ruthless serial killer gets inside Sadie’s head, turning the tables. He knows her secrets. Her obsessions. The darkest, most deviant part of her soul.
When she meets Colton Reed, dangerous stakes are raised as he threatens to unravel her control and reveal her darkest fantasies. The sexy-as-sin bondage rigger at an exclusive BDSM club pushes her boundaries, forcing her to acknowledge that side of herself she fears. Plunged into a realm of torture and suffering, pain and pleasure, Sadie balances on the razor-sharp edge of two intersecting worlds threatening to swallow her.
Passion and lust ignite. Dark and light battle. This explosive first installment of the Broken Bonds series sets the exhilarating pace for a cat and mouse game where no one knows who’s really pulling the strings.
The cover of Visions of Red caught my attention and within reading the first line of the synopsis, I knew I had to read this book. Little fun fact about me; before contemporary romance took over my life, I was all about the crime novels. I couldn’t get enough of Karin Slaughter, Patricia Cornwell and James Patterson just to name a few. So when Trisha Wolfe combines my love for crime/mystery with sexy romance? I’m all in. All. In.
I loved this book, chapter one was great, it was intriguing right off the bat and I wanted to know more, by chapter two I was HOOKED. Colton is a confident, sexy, and mysterious guy and the writing was BAM! Yeah, I loved this book.
The prologue details Sadie’s past and we get a tiny glimpse of what she had to endure; now in the present day, Sadie is a behavioural analyst. She crawls into the mind of the bad guy and discovers why he does what he does. But Sadie has a extracurricular activity that she likes to keep secret and she has managed to do so for months but when her two worlds collide, Sadie knows this can only spell trouble.
Colton has been watching Sadie; he knows what she craves and he knows he is more than qualified to give it. But as the case unravels everyone is a suspect, Colton just has to hope he can keep Sadie on his side.
This is my first book by Trisha Wolfe (even though I own plenty) and I loved it. I thought the writing was of a really high standard and the terminology and descriptions were faultless, it felt no different to reading one of my favourite crime authors mentioned above. My mind was spinning with theories as I read and my suspect changed with each flip of the page; I really can’t wait to see how it all unravels.
As if the mystery of Sadie’s case wasn’t enough, we have Colton and the club Sadie likes to visit. This added an erotic element to the story and both themes were entwined perfectly. I loved Colton’s immediate devotion to Sadie and the things that man said, *le sigh*
“There’s nothing wrong with you, goddess. Just the absolute tragedy that I didn’t make you mine first.”
“It’s not loss; it’s a power exchange. And I’m not stripping you of yours, I’m empowering you with mine.”
I loved Visions of Red. #1Click it. Now.

Title: Two of Hearts
Author: Christina Lee
Genre: Adult Contemporary Romance
Release Date: May 5, 2015
A gripping standalone adult contemporary romance about finding yourself while taking a second chance at your first love...
Dakota Nakos was always the resilient, strong-willed achiever. But when her father dies and she's entrusted with the family's casino, she feels vulnerable, scared, and more than a little emotional --not exactly the best time to see an old lover she's never really gotten over.
Dakota once meant the world to Shane Garrity. Then suddenly he left town to train as a U.S. Marshal, and their love for each other crashed into a memory. Now he's come home for her father's funeral, and one look at the girl he left behind stirs up both memories and regrets, and reignites a fire he feared he'd lost forever.
Dakota may be the same driven girl she always was, but she's also changed in ways neither could have anticipated. She's not just a young woman searching for own identity in the Native American community in which she was raised, but one questioning her new life outside her father's shadow. Above all she wonders if Shane can push past her weakened defenses to rekindle what they once had, or whether the intense blaze between them will ultimately reduce her heart to ashes.
Because I couldn’t help myself, my fingers left her chair and glided up her arms to her neck. Her breaths released from her lips in short pants and I considered touching my mouth to hers.
Would she let me? Would she want me to?
“Yes,” she whispered, the heat of her breaths warming the tiny sliver of air still lingering between us. “But that’s in the past. We had our chance and I . . . I got over you. So let’s leave it there.”
My stomach completely flipped over. “You got over me?”
I studied her lips edge to edge, and they trembled in response. She was so not over me.
I didn’t know what the hell was driving me. I just knew I didn’t like hearing those words. Not one damn bit.
“You got over me?” I growled as my fingers gripped the nape of her neck.
My lips brushed the line of her jaw and she shivered.
“Shane, don’t. Please,” she mumbled, her hands at my chest. “You’ll just leave again and I can’t . . . I can’t . . .”
She sounded so helpless and sad. For the first time she was allowing me to see exactly what she might have been feeling, might’ve gone through five years ago. She sounded wrecked—as wrecked as I had been.
My lips trailed to her ear. “Angel.”

He evokes painful memories in Mac—but also feelings. As the spark between them grows, Mac must decide if she can let go of the past and believe in something as fragile as love…
A Shattered Moment is my favourite Tiffany King book to date. It has been a while since I’ve read a new adult college based romance and I have to say, I really enjoyed it.
Mac is only now coming to terms with a terrible event that caused the death of her friends. She cut herself off from the world and pushed her parents away. It’s only when she meets Bentley a cute college student –who also happens to be the EMT that saved her that fateful night –does she start living again.
Tiffany writes the story in such a way that you can feel Mac’s pain. As a reader, I could empathise with her situation and the way in which she chose to deal with it. I also liked the fact that we weren’t given all the details at once and there were a few surprises along the way.
Bentley was a good guy and it was nice to read about one of them for a change. He had family issues of his own but he was confident within himself and Mac needed that, she needed the reminder that she was still alive and had a life to live.
There were a few characters throughout the book that caught my attention and I’d like to see where this series goes. The epilogue was used as a link into the next book, and although I would have loved more Mac and Bentley time, I know without a doubt they will be popping up in the books to come.
This book took me back to my New Adult origins; it had an interesting storyline, great characters, and plenty of emotion. I suggest you check this one out today.
