Tegan and Asher's story was not was I was expecting. It had a storyline that I have not read before and one that pulled at my heartstrings. It's a raw and gritty account of addiction and its effect on a person and those closest to them.
“My family was almost perfect. The only flaw was me. I didn’t belong. They shouldn’t have to deal with me. They deserved better.”
I was completely sucked in from the first page. The story flips between the past and the present, and I thought it was such a great way to do it and gave the story such an impact. The past gave us a painful and realistic account of Tegan life spiraling out of control, her struggles, her demons, her fears, and the choice she makes to get her next fix. As I read each chapter of her past, my heart was sinking for Tegan.
“In the mirror, I made eye contact with the broken woman staring back. The little girl within me pleaded with her, but her pleads fell on deaf ears”
The present we get to see Tegan’s struggle and challenges during her time in rehab, and her relationship with the counselor Asher. Asher is the person she trusts; the person gives her hope and who believes in her, makes her see and feel new things. Asher has a dark past; he too is a recovering addict, as their friendship deepens, as does their addiction for each other. They are drawn to each other and their connection is palpable.
“For the first time in my life, someone is really seeing me. They say that the eyes are the windows to the soul”
“I’m the fire, he’s the spark”
Reprieve was a not an easy read part were heavy and depressing at times, but that was to be expected due to the subject matter. The issues are real and are the reality of what real people are sadly going through. There is a lot of understanding, and compassion in this book. Nothing was sugar coated, and as I read the book, I hoped that Tegan could start to heal, and overcome her demons and find her way again.
“You need to beat this addiction because you have so much to show the world…and me”
A.E Woodward takes you on an emotional roller coaster you can’t escape from the writing was flawless and once you pick this book up you won’t want to put down until you've finished. I liked the ending, but I can’t help wonder if there will be more. Is Tegan and Asher's story over Mmmm I guess only A.E Woodward knows the answer to that ;-)
A.E. lives in Vacationland with her husband and two children. Between her real job and writing she finds little time to enjoy life's finer things. However in the free time she does manage to steal, she enjoys spending time with friends and family, and reading. A.E. is the author of Kismet and A Series of Imperfections: Imperfectly Perfect, Imperfectly Real, and Imperfectly Bad. Working Girl is her fifth book.

Release Day Blast - Stealing Rose (The Fowler Sisters #2) by @MsMonicaMurphy ~ Ava and Kat's Double Review
*I received a copy in exchange for an honest review.*
Do you ever read a book just at the right time? For me, Stealing Rose was that book. I was after something light, sexy and hot. And Monica Murphy provided all three.
Rose is the youngest of the Fowler sisters and in need of a break from the family business. In Cannes, Rose decides to be reckless for once and that’s when she bumps into smooth talker Caden. Rose puts her moment of madness behind her and travels on to London to visit Violet, only to find it’s a small world after all and the mysterious Caden also happens to be there.
After a sexy bathroom meet, a clandestine, whirlwind romance ensues and I loved watching the two characters grow. Rose was the quiet girl, always going with the flow and never speaking out at the company. During her time with Caden, she slowly began to find her voice and realised it was time for her to do what she wanted to do.
"I sort of like how mysterious Caden is. I know nothing beyond his first name, the taste of his lips, and the wonderful things he can do to me with his fingers. And I'm thinking maybe that's plenty enough."
Caden was a bad boy. So much so, I really did wonder how Monica would swing it that I would fall for him and want him to be the guy for Rose. Of course, Monica nailed it. I loved Caden, his history wasn’t squeaky clean and if it was one of my girlfriends I’d be telling her to run a mile, but it’s fiction and for this story I went with it because I felt the connection between the characters and wanted them to experience happiness they both rightly deserved.
"He marked me. It felt so primitive and possessive, seeing those fingerprints on my skin. I've never been a man's profession before. But I feel like his. And he feels like mine."
I finished this book in a day, I really didn’t want to put it down and that was greatly due to the writing. I find Monica’s books always easy to read and I know I’m going to get a hot romance with a whole load of heart.
"You reached right into my chest and took my heart like it fully belonged to you. And I think it does."
If you loved Violet’s story, you will adore Rose’s and I for one can’t wait to see what’s in store for Lily, the wild child, in book three.
Sexy. Fun. 1Click it.
Rose, an heir to the Fowler Cosmetic empire, where expensive jewelry goes along with the high class parties. Caden, the mysterious new man on the scene, with eyes for all things expensive and shiney.
My first thought after finding out what Caden's profession was...how is this possibly going to work between them?! Are the people in Rose's life really going to be able to accept someone like him? Can he change? How exactly will he make that change? It seemed a little impossible to me. At first...
One of the things I loved most about this book, was the passion they had. It was vibrant. It was explosive. Every damn time these two touch each other it was like fireworks. Super damn hot stuff, the things these two brought to the table. Even with all of that, there's always the question, is that enough? Do they want more than the physical relationship they share? Things are about to get real complicated as they come to realize their feelings for each other. Therein lies the catch...
Caden knew he wasn't good enough. Rose knew he needed to change. You can't exactly take a guy like that home to daddy. Rose made him want to be a better man. An honest man worthy of what was needed to ensure her future was stable and that she wasn't ashamed of the things he had done. And again I asked, HOW IS THIS EVER GOING TO WORK?! So the man did what the man needed to do.
Now, even though Rose could have found him and told him what she should have, she didn't. It was by chance their paths crossed again to find each other. I wonder if that hadn't of happened, how long would she have waited to find him? I really hope in her heart she would have done it as soon as possible. But luckily, she had other people making it happen for her. And as soon as Caden heard the news, he went running. There was no way a man like that would wait another minute for the woman he loved.
I thought this was a great story. Again the passion is what held me in there. It was great to see as Rose come out of her shell and watch Caden become an honourable man. I'm looking forward to see what Monica has in store for us with Lily's story next!

I’m in trouble. Again. And instead of facing my problems head on, I’ve run away. Title: Virgin For The Night
Author: C.J. Fallowfield
Series: For The Night #2
Genre: Erotic Romance
Release Date: November 14, 2014
The steaming novella ‘Virgin for the Night’ is part of the ‘For the Night’ series of eight standalone short reads, which fall into Amazon’s new quick hot erotic reads category. The series contains adult themes~ Suitable only for the over 18’s.
My name is Logan Steele. I’m devilishly handsome, seriously ripped, well hung, charismatic and highly sexed. Women just can’t resist me. So when I lost my job in the construction industry and was struggling for cash, I decided to put my assets to good use.
By day I’m a private personal fitness trainer. By night I’m a high class gigolo.
Tell me your fantasy, I’ll fulfil it ~ So, who do you want me to be?”
Virgin for the Night
My next client is aspiring actress Summer Beresford, whose brief for the evening is that she wants to be treated as if she’s a virgin, to be seduced and wooed. I’d already felt conflicted when I’d received her booking form detailing her scenario, as a rule I didn’t do tender gentle love making, women booked me because of my reputation for fucking, hard. To compound my dilemma, I couldn’t stop looking at her damn photograph and had even used an image of her in my mind to get hard and come with another client. Not only was that highly unprofessional of me, it was potentially hazardous to my reputation in case I groaned the wrong woman’s name. I was already treading that very fine line between professional and personal. Before I’d even met the damn woman she had me breaking one of my cardinal rules, Never fall for one of your clients. The more I looked at her photo though, the more I wanted her.
Summer Beresford, I’m about to woo your arse off and have my own virginal experience, making love for the first time.
The novella’s are told in alternating points of view of Logan Steele, and his client, or clients. You can pick up any of them for a complete short burst of heat, however in order to fully enjoy Logan’s development they should be read in the sequence that they are released. Starting from October 2014, I will release one per month.
Let me say, first, that I love these covers. They're clean and simple, and the reflection of each different girl in his glasses is really fun! I could stare at this guy all day. OK, with that out of the way, I'll get on to my review!
I picked up Virgin for the Night immediately after finishing Strangers for the Night, as I couldn't wait to meet Summer and get started on this story! She's introduced to us in book one as Logan's next client. He's enamored by her photograph, and thoughts of her distract him constantly in the first book. I was excited to see how things played out between Summer and Logan, and especially to see how his character would continue to develop. I was hungry for much more insight into his life, his personality, and his history. And I'm happy to say we do find out a bit more about him! I had a few questions going in, about what his encounter with Summer would be like. For instance, would she be the one to break through and get him to show some emotion? I really hoped so. He mentioned in book one something about wanting to hear Summer call him by his real name. I wondered if that would be revealed as well.
His "assignment" with Summer is to pretend she's a virgin, and to seduce and make love to her accordingly. Gently. With tenderness. Something else I wondered before starting, was whether Summer actually was a virgin. We find out pretty quickly what her deal is. Summer is an up-and-coming actress, still living at home with her parents, who has just landed the role of a lifetime. She hears about Logan from her makeup artist, and uses a huge chunk of her signing bonus to splurge on one special night with him. This is clearly an uncharacteristically bold move for Summer, who is responsible, timid, and seems to be pretty thrifty. Logan can tell from the start that something was different about Summer. She immediately has him feeling unhinged. He's not supposed to have feelings for his clients, that's against his rules. This is all new and unnerving for him.
Seeing the care and preparation he takes in readying things for his clients shows how thorough he is. But he's just as nervous about this job as Summer, and that's very nice to see. She's the first woman in years that has caused this reaction in him. Summer, on the other hand, is nervous for different reasons. A past trauma has left her frightened of intimacy, and Logan is determined to help her put that fear behind her. And that's when the fun starts!
The night they share is so much more personal that that of Logan and Camilla in the first book of this series, and I loved every second of it. Logan's tender thoughts and actions in this book were authentic, despite the fact that he was paid to spend the evening with Summer, and I ate them up! He shows such an endearing vulnerability, that I fell for him completely. This was the Logan I was hoping for! As intrigued as he had me in book one, now I'm even more anxious to know more about him. He felt something special with Summer, and I'm both curious and nervous to see how things unfolded between the two of them as the series progresses. I'm fearful, though, that none of the other girls will measure up for me, as I really have come to like Summer, and I'm very much hoping that we will be seeing plenty of her in the future. The ending of Virgin for the Night didn't leave me too hopeful for this, but I will still keep my fingers crossed!
Virgin for the Night was the Logan I wanted to read about! From book one, I knew he had this sweet potential and he is beginning to tire of his profession, he is beginning to realise the emptiness of it and his next client Summer, just highlights it all the more.
Summer is inexperienced but she’s just been hired to play a sex siren on screen, hence the reason she has reserved a night with London’s finest gigolo. She wants Logan to teach her about pleasure, namely her own. From the moment Logan seen her picture, he knew he should have said no, she effects him like no other. But Logan plays with fire and agrees to Summer’s request: she wants to be treated like a virgin for the night.
I really enjoyed this instalment and that’s due to the fact I felt the chemistry between Logan and Summer. Logan was cocky and confident but he was endearing at the same time and treated Summer like a Queen. I liked Summer’s innocence, it felt genuine and she was in for a night she’d never forget.
“He just exuded confidence, masculinity and raw sex appeal, no wonder he came so highly recommended. When he smiled I almost felt as if I was going to faint and swayed on my feet. O shit Summer, he’s going to eat you alive.”
Of course, all nights must come to an end, and even though it pained them to do so, Summer and Logan had to part ways. Their final scene together was well written and I felt for them both, I was willing for one or the other to turn around and declare they wanted more.
“How the fuck was I going to watch her walk away from me, when something inside me was screaming at me to never let her go or I’d regret it forever?”
How the series plays out from here will be interesting. Logan is beginning to change, he is beginning to see things differently and I can tell this will not be the last we see of Summer.
Virgin for the Night was a hot, sexy novella. So far it is my favourite of the series and I am intrigued to see where Logan and Summer will go from here.
“I wanted to bite her neck and mark her, show everyone that she was taken. She was going to be my biggest challenge yet.”
“I didn’t want anyone else to touch her, she was mine. I wanted to not only be her first, but her last. Fuck, I knew she’d cause me trouble from the moment I opened her damn picture.”
“I kissed the top of her head over and over until her body and both of our breathings slowed down and she gradually fell asleep in my arms, leaving me feeling happier than I’d felt in years, possibly ever.”

Everyone has secrets. Today, you find out mine.
This is where the darkness begins.
Author: Courtney Cole
Series: The Nocte Trilogy #1
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Category: New Adult
Release Date: 3rd November 2014
Save me and I'll save you...
My name is Calla Price. I’m eighteen years old, and I’m one half of a whole.
My other half-- my twin brother, my Finn-- is crazy.
I love him. More than life, more than anything. And even though I’m terrified he’ll suck me down with him, no one can save him but me.
I’m doing all I can to stay afloat in a sea of insanity, but I’m drowning more and more each day. So I reach out for a lifeline.
He’s my savior and my anti-Christ. His arms are where I feel safe, where I’m afraid, where I belong, where I’m lost. He will heal me, break me, love me and hate me.
He has the power to destroy me.
Maybe that’s ok. Because I can’t seem to save Finn and love Dare without everyone getting hurt.
Why? Because of a secret.
A secret I’m so busy trying to figure out, that I never see it coming.
You won’t either
Wow!! This book had been surrounded by so much mystery that I knew very little about it when I started reading it. I didn’t even realize that the synopsis had been updated on Goodreads until after I had finished reading it.
Nocte is the first in The Nocte Trilogy by Courtney Cole, and I have to say it was a captivating read. This book is one where I can't tell you much about it, because it so hard to do, and not give out spoilers. Also, I won’t tell you much about it because it’s one that you need to experience knowing very little about it.
“Serva me, servabo te. Save me, and I will save you.
The story line was one that kept me guessing its told from Calla and Finn POV. There is romance, secrets, suspense, mystery, and it's a little twisted at times. From the very first page, I was intrigued, and once I started it, I just couldn’t put the book down. Courtney was right. I was so busy trying to figure out the secret that I didn’t see it coming until it literally slapped me in the face. It was a real OMG!! What just happened moment? I had many theories, and the more I read, the more they changed. Whenever I thought I knew what the secret was something would be said, or something would happen and I would change my mind. Now looking back thing now clicking into place. Some of my theories were right, but just not in the right aspect; I just didn’t connect all the dots. So I will say… well play Mrs. Cole!! Well play
“Secrets. Everybody's got 'em."
Calla & Finn Price and Dare DuBray are stunning characters, and as their story unfolds my heart broke for the at times. They all have their struggles, especially Calla. Calla and Finn’s relationship is a deep and beautiful; she has a strong sense that she needs to protect time due to his mental illness.
“She’ll be fine because she’s the sane. But what will happen to me”
When Calla meets Dare she feels instantly drawn to him. They have a connection and their chemistry palpable. Dare such an enigma you see all different sides to him. Hot, cold, kind, loving, unpredictable, and intense.
“He's got a million contradictions in his eyes...aloofness, warmth,
mystery, charm, and something else I can't define”
“When I’m upset, he calms me, when I’m breathless,
he gave me air. When I’m sad, he buoys me.”
Notcte is a beautifully written, cleverly crafted story, and emotional book that had me reaching for the tissues. There were lots of twist and turns that are intricately woven within the story. For me, it wasn’t as dark and twisted as I was expecting. But that didn’t matter as I was swiping the pages, trying to figure it all out, trying to get to the end, and yes trying to breath. My advice now that I have finished Notcte would be not even to try to figure it out. Just enjoy Calla & Finn and Dare journey, as the way Courtney delivers the story makes it feel unique and compelling.
Yes, there is a cliffhanger ending, but all I can say it one that won’t leave you heartbroken, but without doubt leaves you wanting more. I can’t wait to read Verum due out in February 2015 when Calla story continues.
"You have one question left Calla… Ask it”…..
”So with fear in my heart and Ice in my veins….I do”
I’m such a fan of Courtney Cole, and I loved her beautiful broken series. She didn’t disappoint me with Nocte, which I didn’t know how to pronounce when I first signed up to review it, and I still don’t think I say it right. LOL
I highly recommend that you one click this book today?
Courtney lives in quiet suburbia, close to Lake Michigan, with her real-life Prince Charming, her ornery kids (there is a small chance that they get their orneriness from their mother) and a small domestic zoo.

Title: ONE TO LOVE (One to Hold, #4)
Author: Tia Louise
Release Date: October 9, 2014
Tattoos, bad boys, love...
Boxing, fame, fortune…
It’s the one thing Kenny and Slayde have in common. Until the night Fate throws them together and everything changes.
Their chemistry is undeniable, their love blazing hot, but is history destined to repeat itself?
It’s a story about fighting. It’s about falling in love. It’s about losing everything only to find it again in the least likely place. And it's about the one hit you never see coming.
A STAND-ALONE, ONE TO HOLD NOVEL. New Adult Contemporary Romance: Due to strong language and sexual content, this book is not intended for readers under the age of 18.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Just when I thought Tia Louise couldn’t top the other books in the series, SHE DID! My heart was fully invested in this story from the very first word of the first page to the end. You are pulled in to the life of these characters. You want nothing more than to understand their past and see where their story leads them. One To Love added a lot of depth to the series. It is much more emotional, it goes deep. Putting this down was not an option.
“True love destroys fear. It covers sins. It’s stronger than any human emotion.”
Love. Love hurts. Love destroys. Love also heals. Kenny and Slayde have lived through this. Kendra (Kenny) Woods lost the only love of her life at such a young age. Life was not kind to her. Even with her son, she feels in a bit of a stand still. Her life is in a rut and she has no idea how to get out of it. Until Slayde Bennett. He becomes her light. Slayde, an ex-fighter has a dark past. He coasts through life as he truly doesn’t believe he is worth of anything good in life. Definitely not love. Until Kenny. While things between Slayde and Kenny begin to heat up, their relationship is rocked to the core as past and present collide. In a way no one ever thought possible.
“In a period of just a few weeks, she’d become the light in my otherwise bleak existence.”
Slayde and Kenny end up meeting through an unfortunate circumstance. But through that, they became forever connected just through that moment. One thing about life, you always end up where you belong. The chemistry between Slayde and Kenny is off the charts. Their build up of falling for each other was perfect. The emotions are raw. As mentioned before both have dark pasts. Pasts that dictate the individuals they are today. But this is no insta love story. Slayde and Kenny fall in love. Slowly. Deeply. Their love shatters anything you thought you knew about getting a second chance at love and life.
“You’re free from the pain you try to hold on to.”
One To Love is flawlessly written. The storyline is detailed and I could not put this one down! I was immediately drawn to Slayde Bennett. His real and genuine demeanor made me feel every emotion he was feeling. I felt his strong desire to love, but understood his guarded demeanor. His past was heartbreaking. And Kenny? She was such a fun character. Even with her past, you do not expect her to want to love again, but then you realize she loves harder than anyone else. Her love saves. It saves Slayde. Their love put their broken pieces back together.
“What she couldn’t know was the heart in her hand was mine. She’d hold it forever. I never wanted it back.”
Sometimes you find love when it’s least expected and in the darkest of places. Kenny and Slayde found that when their love was tested beyond what either would could have ever imagined. Their love didn’t know boundaries, it destroyed them. And even when it seemed impossible that their love could even surpass the huge blow to them, it did. The author is truly talented in allowing you to see the story through her character’s eyes. You simply do not read her stories, you crawl inside of them and live there. One To Love is no exception and I found it to be an amazing addition to this series.
My body swayed with the movement of his thumbs over my breasts. “I want you to kiss me.”
In one swift movement, his mouth covered mine. An ache of longing moaned from my throat into his lips, and he pulled my bottom lip between his teeth. Wrapped in his arms, tight against his firm chest, heat sizzled under my skin.
He whispered over my lashes as he pressed his lips to my forehead, the scruff of his beard roughing my skin. “I’ve dreamed of holding you this way since that first night. I hated myself for it because you’d been hurt—”
“You kept me from being hurt.” My voice was breathless with desire.
His lips moved back to my cheek, down to my jaw. “You’re so beautiful standing here in the moonlight.”
Dropping to his knees, cool air flooded where the warmth of his body had been. Strong hands moved to my waist, one holding my side, the other flat against my lower back as full lips kissed my stomach through the damp shirt. His mouth moved to my hip, and I felt my legs start to tremble.
“Slayde,” I whispered, barely staying on my feet. It had been so long since I’d been touched this way, I wasn’t sure how much I could bear.

Title: What If
Author: Rebecca Donovan
Release Date: September 16, 2014
A new novel by the USA Today and Wall Street Journal bestselling author of The Breathing Series . . .
What if you had a second chance to meet someone for the first time?
Cal Logan is shocked to see Nicole Bentley sitting across from him at a coffee shop thousands of miles from their hometown. After all, no one has seen or heard from her since they graduated over a year ago.
Except this girl isn't Nicole.
She looks exactly like Cal's shy childhood crush, but her name is Nyelle Preston and she has no idea who he is. This girl is impulsive and daring, her passion for life infectious. The complete opposite of Nicole. Cal finds himself utterly fascinated-and falling hard. But Nyelle is also extremely secretive. And the closer he comes to finding out what she's hiding, the less he wants to know.
When the secrets from the past and present collide, one thing becomes clear: Nothing is what it seems.
It’s been a while since I read my Last Rebecca Donovan book, and I was excited when her latest book 'What If' downloaded on my Kindle. I knew from the second I first read the synopsis of this book that I want to read it, and I glad that I did.
“There are so may times I think about a decision I’ve made and wonder, ‘What If I had done it differently? Who would I be? What would my life be like? What if…?”
I’m not going to say much about the storyline, as it’s one of those books where I recommend that like me, you go in blind, and knowing the synopsis so that all your emotions will be first hand, and you can really experience the story.
I will say that What If is an intriguing storyline about Friendship, second chances, love and most of all 'what ifs' While reading it over the last two days I couldn’t tell you how many times I have looked back at my life’s “what If’s.”
I loved the characters, especially Cal he was a sweetheart. It's told in the present and the past and from several POVs. I particularly liked the flashbacks to the past when Cal, Nicole, Richelle, and Rae were younger. I loved seeing how their friendships developed, how inseparable that all were during their childhood loved the bond, the connection that they share.
The storyline is not rushed, It’s a slow build, which may seem frustrating at first, but it allows you to see the different layers of the story, different pieces of the puzzle, and how it's all connected. And I must admit I didn’t want to read too fast as I didn’t want miss bits. I did have my theories; some were way off, but once figure it out, it didn’t take away my enjoyment of the story if anything it became much more emotional read.
Overall, I enjoyed this book. I’m such a big fan of second chance stories. What if was a touching and heart-warming read. I liked the concept of the story and the mystery aspect of it. Rebecca has a beautiful writing style, and she takes you on an emotional journey right until you swipe the last page.
From the moment I heard about What If, I just knew I needed to read it. The story seemed unique yet beautiful. Powerful and all consuming.. And it was.
“To watch you live is breathtaking. You live a life filled with possibilities. A life most people miss out on.”
Cal Logan cannot believe his eyes when he sees Nicole Bentley, his childhood crush, while he is away at college. She looks and sounds just like Nicole. But this girl, Nyelle Preston is not Nicole. She is the complete opposite. Even with this difference, Cal feels himself falling for Nyelle. He becomes enamored with her and the way she lives. Her mystery intrigues him. The more he is around Nyelle, the less he cares about wanting to know what happened to Nicole. Told in past and present. This brilliant story is not everything it seems. You think you know the story. You think you figured everything out. But when the past and present collide, lives are shattered. And every single character is affected by it.
So I know what you’re thinking three stars? Why three stars? First, this was a hard book for me to rate. The writing? Absolutely brilliant. Mesmerizing, consuming. Flawless. Rebecca Donovan? She’s a genius. The way this story is told is unlike anything I have ever read. She allows you to become immersed in the story and the lives of it’s characters. So again, why three stars? Because along the way, I felt disconnected to the characters. There is so much more to say about the plot, but that would be a disservice to the reader. You need to experience the writing. And this story.
I think this is a book everyone should read. To love reading is to appreciate this author’s style of writing. Her words are unlike anything you will ever read . They are powerful and breathtaking. Her words will challenge you as a reader. There are so many connections throughout this book. Everything happens for a reason. I am sure reading it again, knowing what I know, will change my entire experience of the book. And I love that about this story. There are secrets, lies, and nothing is what you think it is. While I did not connect to the characters, I believe this book is well worth the read if you are looking for a well written book that goes where other books are incapable of going.

It is recommended to read after Deliver, but it can be read as a stand-alone.
Her life is like a prison cell.
A self-made, to-hell-with-the-free-world existence that locks from the inside.
Stop judging. Her agoraphobia doesn’t define her. It simply keeps her safe.
He belongs in a prison cell.
The 6x8, make-me-your-bitch variety that locks from the outside.
But he’s free. To hunt. To take. To break.
And he just found a sexy new toy.
Capturing her is the easy part. Her fucked-up mind, however, makes him question everything he does next.
But he’s a determined bastard. If all goes his way, this will hurt like hell.
Vanquish is the second book in the Deliver series by Pam Godwin and like the first, it's still playing on my mind days later. I have been waiting to read Vanquish, as I so wanted to know more about the man who for the most part whilst reading Deliver I wanted to do more than just punch him for all the things he had done to Liv and others. I really didn’t like him, but I have to say by the end, although he was messed up there was something about him, my anger toward his had decreased, and I wanted to know more about him, and his story.
I must admit I didn’t reread the synopsis when I started this one, as I wanted to go into it blind. I trusted that Pam was going to captivate from the start with Van Quiso’ story and I have to say she really did I just love this one.
"You don't really know someone until you see them in the dark"
Van OMG!! What can I say about him, I was expecting him to be dark, crazy, dangerous, and a cold-hearted fuck, and for the most part he was he definitely has some issues. As his story unfolds and I learnt more about him, his childhood and his past, I did start to feel for him. He is broken and so messed up. At times, he came across heartless and cruel, but then he would surprise me, and do something that showed a gentle, funny and compassionate side. I didn’t want to like him, but I did.
‘He could whip her against a tree, fuck her beneath the moon, tie her down on the porch and mar her flesh with the cuts of his teeth. It didn’t matter, because wherever he took her, no matter how brutal or dark the destination, there would always be warmth. Because he would be with her.’
Amber Rosenfeld is just as broken and messed up as Van, but in a very different way. My heart went out to her as it was difficult and emotional to read at times how agoraphobia and other her issue are controlling her life making her a prisoner in her own home. She really tries hard not to let her circumstances define her, and she is doing everything in her power to adapt to it and survive it. I just loved her.
He was her mirror in a way. They both carried a million cracks beneath the skin. Even under the stark light of the fluorescents, it was hard to see which of them was more broken.”
I am not going to say much more as like me, I think you should go into more or less blind, and experience it for yourself. I will say that when Van meets Amber old habits die-hard, and when Amber meets Van all her boundaries are tested.
“He was a cold-hearted fuck with an appetite for blood, come, and tears. And he had the perfect girl to feed it”
“He was a kidnapper, a rapist, and she ached to be repulsed by him, just to prove she was sane, but she couldn’t. And she wasn't. His scarred beauty radiated seduction and danger, a deadly combination.
Van and Amber are two broken, damaged people, and their relationship is dark, and twisted, and emotional. There was also humor within it, and the sex was seriously hot at times. I loved watching Van and Amber's relationship develop, and I could understand what they were drawn to each other why their need for each other was so intense.
“Love hate are closely related expression of the same intensity both require passion, and neither follows logic”
“He wasn’t alone in these feelings. She needed him as much as he needed her, physically and as much as emotionally”
Overall, I loved Vanquish. The twist and turns had me eager to swipe the pages so that I could see how Van and Amber's story was going to unfold. I loved the epilogue it was a good way to end Van and Amber’s journey. I love Pam writing, she has a way of pulling you into the story. I felt it was well-written especially the parts when Pam is describing Amber fears about going outside I could just feel her pain and her panic.
I know it says it can be read as a standalone, but I really think that if you haven’t read Deliver then you should read it first not only because it's an amazing read, that is slightly darker and twisted, but to get the foundation of Van. If you like dark, gritty, and twisted romance stories, then Vanquish is just what you need. Go one click today. I’m looking for to seeing what Pam has for us next.
I'm going to start this review by pointing out that if you plan on reading book one in this series, Deliver, DO NOT and I repeat DO NOT read Vanquish or this review first! If you want to read Vanquish first, Deliver will be spoiled for you and it's best if you go in blind! You have been warned...
When I heard that one the least likable characters I have ever encountered was getting his own book you would think my reaction was one big 'hell to the no,' but I was intrigued. One word that came to mind when thinking about Van was crazy. So I kept thinking to myself, how is Pam going to make me fall for him? And believe it or not, I DID!
Van is one of those complex characters that you just love to hate and hate to love. And Van wouldn't be Van without being..well..Van. So when Van is introduced to us, he's doing something that had me just shaking my head. He's not only spying on Liv (Yes, we do cross paths with Liv once again. YAY!), but he's doing something...shall I say..out of the norm? From then on I just knew that Van was as crazy and appalling as seen in Deliver. I was wrong. There is a reason for his madness and when his past is completely revealed, I really felt (and fell!) for him.
Amber is a character like no other. She suffers from anxiety, OCD, agoraphobia, self-esteem issues, anorexia....you name it, she has it. From the very beginning of this book I just wanted to grab her and comfort her. Slowly, the reasons behind all these issues come to light and I just wanted to kick a person or two for her. This book having dual point of views, I got to feel the struggles that Amber faced daily. I loved that she felt so real and relatable. And what I loved the most about her was that as the story progressed, she got stronger and stronger. She fought to break through her anxiety, her agoraphobia, her OCD, etc. Not that these things just went away, of course, because that would just not be realistic at all.
The relationship between Amber and Van started by chance. I won't go into details about that, but know that I wanted to hate Van for his actions at first. But he really grew on me. He helps Amber with her problems, he doesn't go about it very well, but it's the thought that counts right? And at first he wants to use her for his own purpose, but he grows to feel things for her that he had never felt before. I loved seeing him grow and evolve throughout this book.
Overall, I really enjoyed reading this book. Van and Amber are characters like no others and they will definitely stay with me for a very long time.
With the next breath, he launched, hands on her jaw, fingers spread around the back of her head.
His elbows dropped, shoulders raised, and he yanked her to him, lifting her on tiptoes, guiding her mouth, taking it. His grip twisted through her hair as he drew in her upper lip and shoved her against the fridge, following her with the weight of his body.
The kiss went fucking wild, their lips mashing in a frantic battle. His tongue plunged her mouth, attacking, thrusting in and out, possessing her movements, owning her. Breath for breath, lick after lick, he ate at her mouth, tasting, devouring.
He dropped his hands to her breasts, squeezing ruthlessly as he rolled his cock against her cunt.
His tongue tingled, his skin burned, and his head swam. God, she was a drug, and he was so fucking high.
She gripped his biceps, bit at his lips, and threw her arms over his shoulders, her fingers scratching the fuck out his back. He shuddered, loving it, but he was in control.
Reaching back, he grabbed her wrists and slammed them above her head. Their bodies ground together, his forearms pressing hers to the fridge, their tongues dancing and clashing. Chest-to-chest, hips fused together, he flexed his ass, dry humping her like a horny teenager.
Jesus, fuck, he didn't care. He wanted her.
He leaned back to study her face and found strong smoldering eyes, sharp breaths, and swollen wet lips. Whatever she saw in his expression made her mouth chase his and her fingers curl around his hands. They kissed endlessly, fueling the fire and pushing his control long past the point of discomfort before pulling back and starting all over again.
When he broke the kiss with a hand on her jaw, they panted as one, mouths open and so close their bottom lips brushed. She peered at him through lowered lashes, and he stared back in awe. What trembled between them wasn't an if? Or even a how hard? Those were foregone. The question they shared was simple.

Launch Day Blitz: Lady Luck (Colorado Mountain #3) by Kristen Ashley. Kat and Av'a's Reviews, Giveaway & Excerpt.
Title: Lady Luck (Colorado Mountain #3)
Author: Kristen Ashley
Genre: Adult Contempory Romance
Paperback Release Date: July 29, 2014
Ty Walker was wrongly imprisoned and for the five years he was inside, he honed his plan so when he gets out, he has nothing but vengeance on his mind.
But then he walks straight to stylish, leggy, beautiful, goofy Lexie Berry and he suddenly has something else to think about. He knows within seconds he wants her and within days he can love her but with the filth that was flung at him clinging; he also knows he can’t have her.
Since birth, Lexie Berry has been Lady Luck’s favorite toy and because of that, Lexie is cautious. But within a day, she senses Ty is something special. With her luck, however, she can’t trust it. Then she finds out what was done to Ty and she’s willing to do anything to make it right.
Even what Ty will never forgive her for doing.
Ty clings to vengeance and Lexie goes all out to give him back the time he lost. But Ty is battling demons within and they’re up against dirty cops and criminals who will stop at nothing to sway Lady Luck against them. All Ty and Lexie have is hope Lady Luck will finally swing their way.
He didn’t speak but his eyes changed, one of those changes I didn’t know, didn’t yet understand but this one was meaningful. They all were but this one was more meaningful than the rest.
A lot more.
And I couldn’t stop myself, his eyes so close, that look in them, my arms moved from around his shoulders, my hands framed his face, I leaned up and whispered, “Thank you.”
Then I pressed my lips to his.
I meant to give him a soft kiss of gratitude. This was not to say I didn’t want to give him a long, hard, wet kiss of something else. And just what I wanted to give him and what that would lead to had also been filling my head space the last couple of days but that wasn’t where I intended to go just then. Not yet. Not with a house full of people downstairs waiting to eat fried chicken.
But when my mouth hit his, he didn’t give me the chance to give him a soft kiss of gratitude.
Instantly, his fingers slid up into my hair, cupping my head, and his mouth opened over mine making a demand.
Mine complied. His tongue spiked into my mouth and I liked the taste of it, I hadn’t had it in what seemed like a decade, I missed it and he tasted so fucking good my body pressed into his and not just because his arm around me grew super tight.
Then I was twisted, on my back in what was, I noted vaguely and was unbelievably happy for, a bed. His torso was on mine, his hips beside mine, his long, heavy leg moved to tangle with mine as his tongue moved in my mouth. I wrapped one arm around his back, one around his shoulders, my hand moving to cup the back of his head and hold him to me.
God, he couldn’t kiss. He could kiss.
Lexie and Tate met when she was tasked to pick him up from his 5 year stint in prison (don't worry, he really didn't do it), a favour she was doing for a man, Martinez, who held people of her past over her head. What she didn't know, is that she was going to become Ty's wife as part of the deal. Now, one would freak the F out over that, but really, this was her only way to escape Martinez. Plus she was to get a sizeable payday out of the deal, not to mention some seriously serious bling. I'd be all in too, if not just for that, but to be able to look at that gorgeous man every day.
Now, if you really know me, you would know I'm a total man-thigh loving girl, so as soon as I read the part about his "enormous thighs", I was hooked on Ty. From his initial cave-man communication skills, his tell-it-how-it-is straight up attitude and the whole alpha bad-boy without really being a bad-boy at all...how could one not fall for all that? The words that fall out of that man's mouth is both hilarious and hot. He's guaranteed to put a smile on your face and butterflies in your belly.
"Your nightmare, mama, was my dream."
"Doesn't take a lotta energy to eat you, though."
I think Lexie is pretty kick-ass and her pet names for Ty are too cute. "There's a bitch in this town who needs a lesson and I'm the teacher." I suppose growing up as she did, gave her that kick-ass attitude. which is perfectly matched for Ty. It didn't take them long to fall for each other, but it's like they fell in love without really falling in love. It just happened without having to be said, you know it from all the little things they did for each other. The way others saw them through their eyes. It's kind of the sneak-up-on-you kind of love. Just how one would expect it to be with a pair like Ty and Lexie.
Of course a whole lotta shit goes down with conspiracies, lies and deception in relation to both Ty and Lexie. And when Lexie goes missing, shit hits the fan and Ty goes into full-blown protective alpha hero mode. You think it's one thing, but really I had no clue who was doing what. Which is great because I'm forever trying to nail down the plot in my head before it happens. It's nice when you get it all wrong and are surprised about the series of events unfolding.
My favourite parts are always when the heroine gets saved. Then you really get to watch just how much love they have for each other. It's always after the one you love is gone or in danger to really realize what greatness you had together. Ty and Lexie are the perfect couple. Oh and the epilogues! Good lord I love seeing their love grow and grow.
I really don't know what else to say about this book, other than READ IT! I fell hard for this book and really cannot get enough of Kristen's stories.
I think I was waiting on that one book, that one book that would make me fall head over heels for Kristen Ashley. Little did I know it wasn’t a book but rather a book boyfriend and his name was Ty. Oh how I loved Ty from the very first page and I didn’t sleep a wink until the very last!
Ty and Lexie don’t have the most conventional of introductions. Lexie thinks she’s to pick a strange guy up and deliver him where he wants to go, little does she know Ty is buying Lexie’s time for the foreseeable future. Ty has just been released from prison for a crime he didn’t commit. He’s hell bent on seeking revenge and Lexie will be his live-in alibi to prove his innocence when needed. But neither of the two expected to fall in love along the way.
I loved Lexie and Ty’s story. I was engrossed in the storyline of Ty’s wrongful incarceration and the circumstances surrounding it. Slowly, over the length of the story, I got to see the real Ty and couldn’t help but fall for him. He was a good man through and through and of course, it helped that he was rockin’ the sexy Alpha traits completely. I wasn’t the only one falling for his charm. Ty may have been a stranger but ever so slowly, Lexie discovered he was a diamond in the rough and just perfect for her.
“You’re far and away the most beautiful man I’ve met and it isn’t just that you have the looks and the body but it’s a whole lot more Ty Walker.”
Lexie had me laughing many times; she is my favourite KA heroine to date as I loved her sass. She didn’t grow up in a land of fairy tales so Lexie was under no illusions, but that made her strong, passionate and willing to stand up for herself. She was someone I wouldn’t mess with.
“So something has to give because there’s a bitch in this town who needs a lesson and I’m the teacher.”
“Shit, darlin’, remind me not to get on your bad side.” To which I turned my head to him immediately and said, “Don’t fuck over my husband, you’ll be fine.”
It was the slow bubbling romance that held me to this book, I loved reading about Ty and Lexie’s relationship growing into something more. From their very first night, when Ty fixed her bouquet to adding little touches around their house, the romantic in me was beaming all over the place. I loved every moment Ty and Lexie were together and the love they shared.
“Love you, Ty.” “Down to my bones, mama, right back at you.”
I am loving the world Kristen Ashley has created. At first, I was aware of the length of each book, 500 pages being the average, but now I get why they are so long. Not only are we getting to know the characters but the entire community too. I love all the supporting characters and the support they provide each other and it just makes me want to read on until the series end.
I am becoming accustomed to KA’s writing, the men tend not to pose questions, rather statements and I found myself having to reread a few sentences. The story was told mainly from Lexie’s point of view in first person, which I love, but I was also desperate for Ty’s point of view in this book. We did get it but it was told in third person and that did throw me, I wanted into Ty’s head. Having had the opportunity to ask Kristen Ashley in person about the point of view change, her answer was understandable. She isn’t a dude so she won’t attempt to write like one. I say that’s fair enough and I’ll come to terms with it eventually ;-)
Lady Luck was filled with twists, turns, drama and emotion. Lexie and Ty are my favourite couple to date. I love the dynamic between them and Lexie’s fire made her a girl after my own heart. I know I am late to the Kristen Ashley party but if you are a late bloomer like me, I say rectify this immediately!

Release Blitz - Torrent (Condemned #1) by Gemma James @CJMicheals80~ Triple Review, Top Ten Facts and Giveaway
Author: Gemma James
Series: Condemned #1
Genre: Erotic Romance
Publication Date: July 22nd 2014
She sent an innocent man to prison. Now, eight years later, he's returning the favor...
I’ve been obsessed with Rafe Mason since I was thirteen. The twisted part of this story is that I still want him, even now.
Now that he's holding me captive on an island.
Rafe has his reasons for doing what he's doing, and if I'm honest, I can't blame him. I’m the girl who sent him to prison for a heinous crime he didn't commit.
But now he's free and the tables have turned...now he's the one driven by obsession.
TORRENT is a new adult dark romance with disturbing themes and explicit content, including sexual scenes and violence that may offend some. Intended for mature audiences. Part one of the CONDEMNED series. This is not a stand-alone read.
I am a huge fan of dark romance, so the synopsis for this book was what definitely pulled me in. I thought long and hard about what rating to give this book. For the first time, in probably ever, I finished a book feeling kind of dirty (lol!). When I turned that last page I had no idea what the hell did I just read and was I supposed to have liked it (all in a good way!!). Torrent is definitely twisted and dark, but most of all, completely messed up!
Teen Alex had a secret crush on her step-brother's best friend. Due to some crazy shit that went down, Alex points the finger at Rafe for a heinous crime he didn't commit. Fast forward eight years, Rafe is out for revenge. He has lost a big chunk of his life thanks to the lies Alex told. He wants her to pay and knows just how to do it.
Page after page, I kept telling myself how I shouldn't be liking where the story was heading. It felt wrong and every one of Rafe's actions left me with a bitter taste on my mouth (not literally, of course). This guy does the craziest things to Alex, all in the name of revenge. But in a weirdly, I-should-really-hate-you-but-I-don't kind of way I liked Rafe. I understood that his life was forever altered because of one girl's accusations.
Rafe doesn't know what Alex has been through and her motives for accusing him, so you can tell his hatred for her runs deep. I, of course, felt really bad for Alex because even though she did send him to prison eight years ago, the things she has been though because of someone she should trust are just awful! And on top of that having to deal with Rafe? Crazy! But I was also mad at her throughout the book. She could've put a stop to Rafe's plans of revenge if she would've just opened her mouth and told him why she did what she did.
Overall, I enjoyed this book. It was twisted, dark, and completely wrong. I applaud the author for invoking so many emotions from me while I read this book. I am definitely looking forward the next book and cannot wait to read it!!!
Well, she was right, it was good!! Really good, and like her I also felt that I shouldn’t have liked it as much as I did, and that due to the nature of the story it was wrong to like it as much as I did. I loved the storyline, it was, dark, twisted edgy, violent and raw, I loved the plot, character development, the hot sexy scenes!! I won’t say anything more about it as I don’t want to give anything away as I feel you really need to read it to understand.
Rafe Mason OMG!!!! What can I say about this sexy man? The more I read, the more I like him, I knew I should because of what he was doing to Alex, he was out for revenge, but I could help it, he has a way of getting under your skin. Oh! And once I discovered his UFC background, I was sold!!
I didn’t know how I felt about Alex. I felt sorry for her at times as one was to suffer like she did, and she has had a shitty life, but at the same time I was also angry at what she had done. However, by the end, I did feel for her. I love the relationship between Rafe and Alex, disturbing as it was, it was also hot sexy and emotional as their feeling for each other ran deep.
I really enjoyed this one; it just goes to show I have a thing for dark, twisted erotic romance. Once I started, I couldn’t stop reading because I had to know what was going to happen. After the cliffhanger ending, I was left with a wow!! And a emotional roller coaster of feelings. I can’t wait for the next one in the series Rampant!! I want that book NOW!!
This was the first book I had read by Gemma Jones, I felt that it was well written, and you feel the emotions, and the struggles of the characters. I will without doubt be reading more of her work, as she definitely knows how to dark romance with disturbing themes, that come with violent and explicit content, and hot sexual scenes. And if like me that is your thing, then I highly recommend that you one- click it today or at the very least add it to your TBR list. It’s a must read.
A question to Gemma… Will Jax be getting a story?? As I feel he seems slightly well more the slightly fucked- up and has one to tell.
I wanted a fight I wanted her fingernail digging into me. I wanted her kicking and screaming and begging for mercy. I wanted her tears and her fucking pain”
“Now I’m black on the inside. I just don’t give a fuck anymore”
“I could deny it all I wanted, but our chemistry didn’t lie. There was something irresistible about her”
“He might have love me if things had turned out differently. If I hadn’t wrecked him”
“Too much of me still hated her…but too much of me still wanted her. How more messes up could I get
“I hated and loved him all at once, and my body was on the same page”
“I’m going to make you beg for it, gonna make you cry until you can’s breath for wanting me”
“What we shared was pure obsession, nothing more and nothing less, and it was sweetest madness in hell"
After reading the synopsis, I had to read this book. The theme of revenge intrigued me and with it being on the shorter side, I had to dive in.
Alex has suffered at the hands of her stepbrother Zach, for most of her life. After being forced to testify against her teenage crush, Rafe, Alex has reason to be fearful of his revenge after he’s released from prison. Rafe is out for blood after losing eight years of his life because of Alex, his plan is to make her pay like he did, but once he has Alex secluded on his island, the lines definitely begin to blur.
Before I go on, I must say Torrent is crazy! My mind tells me that every page is wrong, I shouldn’t be liking these characters and I certainly shouldn’t be accepting the situation, yet I find myself making excuses for Rafe and Alex and of course, I’m always looking for the HEA route. I don’t know who is more messed up, this book or me?!
Rafe’s treatment of Alex is abhorrent, yes he is fueled by revenge, but she didn’t deserve to be degraded the way she was. Mentally, Alex is already screwed up after years under Zach’s control, so Rafe’s treatment seems like a walk in the park in comparison. One minute I would hate Rafe and then the next, I would be feeling sorry for him. This book spun my head and made me question my morals!
For lovers of dark romance, Torrent will be right up your alley, it’s sinfully good. For me, I was looking for a deeper connection to the writing. I felt avenues were explored but then just dropped. A few key points were highlighted and I felt they would have had a greater impact had they been explored fully.
This was a really quick read, it ends with a twist and it does leave me wanting to read the second book. I really have no idea what will happen but of course, I’m rooting for Rafe and Alex even though I know I shouldn’t and I feel dirty for doing so, but that’s what happens in the crazy world of Torrent. Regardless of writing or characters, I’m not going to forget this book in a hurry.
Top Ten Facts about Torrent. . .
2. I really have Skye Warren to thank for how Torrent turned out. Last year around Christmas time, she called for submissions for a short story anthology about criminals. Well, I had an idea…and that idea was too good to confine to a short story. I decided to combine my earlier efforts with the premise of a girl sending a man to prison for a crime he didn't commit, and him coming back for what he felt he deserved.
3. Once I had the island in mind (small, privately own, with a single cabin on it), I turned to Google to find out if I could find any real islands of a similar nature to use as a reference. There just happens to be one about three hours from where I live, situated on the Oregon side of the Columbia River. It even has a cabin on it. I've driven there twice and have seen it from the highway. I call it "my island." The setting in the novel, though based on real places, is purely fictional, with the exception of the Columbia River and Portland, Oregon.
4. I rewrote the beginning about three, maybe four times.
5. Zach and Alex were originally full-blooded siblings. I gave into censoring myself out of fear of being banned from retailers, even though I had no intention at first of writing sexual scenes between the two. Once I changed their relation to step-siblings, the brief taboo scene in the beginning formed, and in my opinion, strengthened the setup of the novel. It also opened wicked avenues for book two. ;-)
6. I didn't immediately know why Alex sent Rafe to prison. She was a stubborn character who kept me in the dark for a while!
7. Torrent is the first book in which I wrote from the hero's POV. It was interesting getting inside Rafe's head.
8. One of the twists about Rafe's past (something he learns after he's out of prison) basically wrote itself into the story part way through. Same with Jax, Rafe's buddy. These characters and subplots just popped in of their own accord!
9. If you're looking for an easy read with hearts, flowers, and mainstream topics—this isn't the book for you. This story will make you squirm, possibly make you sick at times, and push you into the darkest corners of your mind. But I'm a romantic at heart and believe in happy endings. Getting there is hell though.
10. I do not feel guilty about the cliffhanger ending. Have you watched any TV season finales lately? AHHHHHHHH! I understand the frustration, and I'm evil enough to rub my hands together in glee. Don't lynch me. I'm working on the second book. :D

I know he’s going to wreck me, know there won’t be anything left of me but lust and sensation by the time he’s done with me, but even though I can see the heartbreak coming towards me like a train, ready to crash into me, I can’t get out of the way. I want what he makes me feel. Want what he’s offering.
This may have started out as something to save my mother, but now…now it’s about what he makes me feel. I’m in danger of losing everything that’s important. Worse? Ian's whispered words and hot caresses are making me believe that's okay.
“I’m a big collector of things.” “Am I a thing?” “No you’re my heart.”
I always look forward to a new release from Jen Frederick; she is fast becoming one of my favourite authors. Losing Control sounded different from her previous work and the synopsis about Victoria ‘Tiny’ Corielli, a bike messenger in desperate need of money and Ian Kerr a successful businessman with an interesting proposition for Tiny was intriguing.
Losing Control was released chapter by chapter via newsletter for the past month, I had missed the first few instalments but I was lucky enough to receive an ARC in full, so I told myself I would start reading to catch up with the newsletter and then read it daily. However, once I picked up this book I didn’t do much else until I had read the very last page. I was so drawn into this story; it had mystery, romance, suspense and heartache. Everything I look for in a book to really connect with the characters and storyline.
Tiny accidently runs into Ian as she is delivering a parcel, as part of her job, the moment their eyes meet their connection is visceral. Usually this can sound really cliché but the way in which it was written had me thinking maybe you do feel it, the moment you set eyes on your soul mate. Tiny and Ian were shaken and they couldn’t erase each other even if they wanted to.
“I can’t escape him-and worse, I don’t even want to.”
Tiny needs money and she needs it fast, she turns to her less than honourable step-brother and agrees to take on some extra runs that isn’t exactly above board. It is during this time she meets Ian again, he is convinced she isn’t up to the unique task he needs her for but Tiny is adamant that she is more than capable. Ian needs some leverage on an old enemy but the moment Tiny is involved Ian realises his mistake, Tiny belongs to him and no one else.
“I want you, bunny, and I’ll have you. This will be the last night you cry alone.”
Tiny is thrust into an unknown world that includes a flash apartment, new clothes and a chauffeur. Seeing her mum so happy makes Tiny reluctant to call the deal off and she agrees to work for Ian but no sooner has she agreed when their relationship spills over from professional to personal.
“What about my doubts?” I ask, but inwardly I’m thrilled that he’s finally, finally ready.”…
His lips are wet from my saliva and his fingers are tight against me. “I’m going to fuck those doubts right out of you.”
Ian had it all going on, he was rich, successful and he oozed power. I may have swooned a time or two! I love a man who takes charge and the moment he set his eyes on Tiny, he went into full on protective mode. Pair that with a dirty mouth and a heart of gold and we have ourselves the perfect book boyfriend.
“I’m going to fuck you so hard tonight that you will be left with only one thought. One concept: You belong to me.”
“Collapsing against me, his chest heaving with his exertion, his next words echo in my heart. “I’ll never have enough of you.”
“I press my lips together because any minute now I’m going to start crying. A bit of wetness forms at the outsides of my eyes and Ian thumbs it away. “I can see my future in your eyes, Tiny.”
I really liked Tiny as a character; she was down to earth and very likeable. She went above and beyond for her mum, she proved that there was nothing she wouldn’t do to see that her mum got the best in life. I also liked the fact Tiny wasn’t your ‘perfect heroine’ she had some real life issues and I thought they were handled really well. It was refreshing to read for a change.
The storyline held my interest throughout the book, there were plenty of sensual yet erotic moments between Tiny and Ian but there was depth to the story with Tiny’s mum and the way in which Ian cared for them both. Ian’s nemesis made an appearance and things were left wide open at the end. I really can’t wait for the next book to discover how it will all unravel. I just know this couple has been through a lot and I can’t wait for them to bask in their HEA.
For fans of Jen Frederick you will love this book, her writing is excellent, the story in interesting and the sexy times are hot. Ian is probably one of my favourite male leads from Jen. And for new readers this is the perfect place to start to discover a great story and a great author today.
“No, I wouldn’t think you would,” I say faintly. No one has ever spoken to me in such a graphic and frank manner and I don’t know how to respond—at least not verbally. My body is reacting by getting hot and tight.
He nods then in confirmation that I’ve heard him. “I don’t dip my pen in the company ink. Nothing good comes of that. So let me ask you again. Are you certain you wouldn’t rather let me take you out to dinner and then home, where I would make you come so hard that you wouldn’t be able to remember your own name let alone that you have money troubles?”
I’m finding it difficult to breathe normally and it’s hard to remember exactly why I’m resisting him so hard. His hand has moved from my waist to my hip and his fingers are curling around my ass and pulling me close as possible despite the bike frame between us. I can even feel his erection against my hip. “The money troubles will still be there, regardless of my memory,” I manage to choke out.
His eyes narrow because he doesn’t like my rejections. “You should know that when small prey runs away, it only whets the appetite of a predator. Someday, Victoria Corielli, I’m going to get you to say yes.”
He pushes the bike frame upright and my body reluctantly follows.
“I’ll be in touch,” he says and then turns and walks away. I stare after him like a dumbass for at least five minutes.
