Title: Breathe (Colorado Mountain #4)
Author: Kristen Ashley
Genre: Adult Contempory Romance
Paperback Release Date: August 26, 2014
There's nothing like the first time . . .
In Carnal, Colorado, Faye Goodknight is the town's quiet, shy librarian. She may also be Carnal's last remaining virgin. For years, Faye has had a crush on Chace Keaton, but the gorgeous cop has always been unattainable. She's resigned to live contentedly with only her books for company—until Faye suddenly meets Chace alone in the woods...
Chace doesn't think he's the good guy everyone believes him to be. He's made a lot of choices he regrets, including denying his feelings for Faye. Through his choices, he's come to believe the pretty librarian is too good for him, but after their time in the woods, Chace realizes that she may be his last chance for redemption. Soon, their long simmering desires grow to a burning passion. Yet always casting a shadow over their happiness is Chace's dark past...
I continued my Kristen Ashley marathon by diving straight into Breathe. When I discovered at the end of Lady Luck, that it was in fact Chace’s turn to get a story, I’m not going to lie, I wasn’t sure if he was a good guy or not and I didn’t really want to read about him. Well out of curiosity, I read the sneak peek at the end of Ty’s story and I was hooked, I wanted to know more about the shy librarian, Faye, and how she captured Chace.
I immediately liked Faye’s character; I wondered how KA would portray a twenty nine year old virgin without being cliché. I thought this was done really well and it actually made me want her and Chace be together even more. Faye harboured a crush for the small town cop for over thirteen years and subconsciously or not, she was saving herself for him.
Chace had many demons to excise. The police department he dedicated his life to was full of crooked cops and Chase felt guilty about not taking action sooner, he also had the death of his ex-wife on his hands. There was no love lost between Misty and Chace but he made it his mission to track down her murderer to find peace for both himself and Misty’s memory.
I loved to witness the change in Faye as the story progressed. At the beginning, Faye was shy and insecure. She didn’t feel worthy of a guy like Chace but as their relationship blossomed, Chace proved to Faye that she was his equal and worthy of his love. It was a pleasure to see her confidence grow.
“I’d walk to the ends of the earth hand in hand with Chace Keaton and all he had to do to get me to do it was kiss me deep, smile at me, hold my hand and call me baby.”
“Everything about you is hot, honey. You got nothin’ to be embarrassed, ashamed or worried about because you’re the best I ever had. All of you. All we share. The best kiss. The best orgasm. The best lovemaking. And seriously the best fuck.”
“I didn’t look like the shy, virgin, town librarian anymore. I looked like the stylish town librarian who was regularly getting banged by the town’s hottest cop.”
My favourite part of the storyline was the young boy in need of help that frequently visited Faye’s library. Malachi brought out the caring side of both Faye and Chace but he also added mystery and intrigue to the story. My heart ached as the story was coming to a close and I felt so much for these characters, it really was bittersweet.
I’m beginning to notice the formula to this series, and although the books share many similarities, I recognise it as classic KA and I find myself searching out one of these books whenever I am in need of a traditional alpha.
I’m getting into the swing of Kristen’s writing and also the lack of a connective at the beginning of questions that have me rereading the sentences to understand the intent. However, those quirks are minor points and they don’t halt my enjoyment of the story and in actual fact I have found myself becoming quite the KA fan.
Unexpectedly, Breathe is my favourite of the series so far. I just felt for Faye and Chace from the beginning and felt they both deserved a break in life. Chace was this big tough cop, but underneath he didn’t feel worthy and I loved the way in which Faye showed him otherwise.
“He pulled her even closer knowing one more thing. He wasn’t falling anymore for Faye Goodknight. He wasn’t halfway there. He was gone.”
“Now, after six fuckin’ years of feelin’ buried under shit, I see it through your eyes and finally feel clean. For the first time in six years, I feel free.”
Breathe can be read as a standalone, although you will want to read about the other couples as soon as you meet them. This book pulled at my heartstrings, had me sobbing into my pillow but in the end it left me with a huge smile on my face. I recommend you read this one!
Chace is the town hero. A cop who helped cleaned up the corrupt Carnal Police Department. And even though had been through hell with the life he previously lead and death of his wife, he always had Faye in the back of his mind. For much longer than she had ever known. When he was finally free to have real love, he went and got his real love and loved her like no other.
Their attraction to one another is what brought them together, but the compassion they both had towards one special little boy is what bonded them together and fueled their relationship further. The determination they had in making his life better is what melted my heart as a reader. Of course there is the usual falling in love, misunderstandings, mending the parts of their hearts they thought were already healed. Of course might as well throw in a disappearance and the chase to the rescue before it ends in disaster...Breathe Faye. And I even got a little giddy when a character from Rock Chicks showed up in the story, so freaking good! I mean I kind of knew something was up with Faye's internet friends, or rather "band of misfits" as Chace calls them, but I wasn't expecting that.
Usually with a book I fall in love with one MC more than the other, but with these two I loved them just the same. How could you not, with two equally lovely and compassionate people? And even though they are not real, they made me want to be a better person and look out for those less fortunate and in harms way. Any thing, no matter how small, just to make someone else's life a little bit better. The whole story of Jeremiah (Miah, Malchi...yes he has a few names) touched my heart and made me sad and also hopeful that someone, somewhere out there also looks out for kids like him the same way Faye and Chace did for him. The way Miah looked up to them...so, so sweet and heart-warming. And his school speech...brought tears to my eyes, messy sad and happy tears mixed together!
"You go down on me, you get geek TV. I go down on you, you watch one of my programs."
"It's not classified information, Chace. You can read about it on Wookieepedia."
"Did they vow on Luke Skywalker's light saber that they'd stand down?"
"I held out for a hero and I don't give a frak if you don't think you're one. I know you are and even if you weren't one to the whole town, you're one to me and you can take that to the fraking bank."
Those are just a few of my favourite quotes, they made me laugh, love and cry. I thought this was such a great story and fabulous edition to the Colorado Mountain series!

Launch Day Blitz: Lady Luck (Colorado Mountain #3) by Kristen Ashley. Kat and Av'a's Reviews, Giveaway & Excerpt.
Title: Lady Luck (Colorado Mountain #3)
Author: Kristen Ashley
Genre: Adult Contempory Romance
Paperback Release Date: July 29, 2014
Ty Walker was wrongly imprisoned and for the five years he was inside, he honed his plan so when he gets out, he has nothing but vengeance on his mind.
But then he walks straight to stylish, leggy, beautiful, goofy Lexie Berry and he suddenly has something else to think about. He knows within seconds he wants her and within days he can love her but with the filth that was flung at him clinging; he also knows he can’t have her.
Since birth, Lexie Berry has been Lady Luck’s favorite toy and because of that, Lexie is cautious. But within a day, she senses Ty is something special. With her luck, however, she can’t trust it. Then she finds out what was done to Ty and she’s willing to do anything to make it right.
Even what Ty will never forgive her for doing.
Ty clings to vengeance and Lexie goes all out to give him back the time he lost. But Ty is battling demons within and they’re up against dirty cops and criminals who will stop at nothing to sway Lady Luck against them. All Ty and Lexie have is hope Lady Luck will finally swing their way.
He didn’t speak but his eyes changed, one of those changes I didn’t know, didn’t yet understand but this one was meaningful. They all were but this one was more meaningful than the rest.
A lot more.
And I couldn’t stop myself, his eyes so close, that look in them, my arms moved from around his shoulders, my hands framed his face, I leaned up and whispered, “Thank you.”
Then I pressed my lips to his.
I meant to give him a soft kiss of gratitude. This was not to say I didn’t want to give him a long, hard, wet kiss of something else. And just what I wanted to give him and what that would lead to had also been filling my head space the last couple of days but that wasn’t where I intended to go just then. Not yet. Not with a house full of people downstairs waiting to eat fried chicken.
But when my mouth hit his, he didn’t give me the chance to give him a soft kiss of gratitude.
Instantly, his fingers slid up into my hair, cupping my head, and his mouth opened over mine making a demand.
Mine complied. His tongue spiked into my mouth and I liked the taste of it, I hadn’t had it in what seemed like a decade, I missed it and he tasted so fucking good my body pressed into his and not just because his arm around me grew super tight.
Then I was twisted, on my back in what was, I noted vaguely and was unbelievably happy for, a bed. His torso was on mine, his hips beside mine, his long, heavy leg moved to tangle with mine as his tongue moved in my mouth. I wrapped one arm around his back, one around his shoulders, my hand moving to cup the back of his head and hold him to me.
God, he couldn’t kiss. He could kiss.
Lexie and Tate met when she was tasked to pick him up from his 5 year stint in prison (don't worry, he really didn't do it), a favour she was doing for a man, Martinez, who held people of her past over her head. What she didn't know, is that she was going to become Ty's wife as part of the deal. Now, one would freak the F out over that, but really, this was her only way to escape Martinez. Plus she was to get a sizeable payday out of the deal, not to mention some seriously serious bling. I'd be all in too, if not just for that, but to be able to look at that gorgeous man every day.
Now, if you really know me, you would know I'm a total man-thigh loving girl, so as soon as I read the part about his "enormous thighs", I was hooked on Ty. From his initial cave-man communication skills, his tell-it-how-it-is straight up attitude and the whole alpha bad-boy without really being a bad-boy at all...how could one not fall for all that? The words that fall out of that man's mouth is both hilarious and hot. He's guaranteed to put a smile on your face and butterflies in your belly.
"Your nightmare, mama, was my dream."
"Doesn't take a lotta energy to eat you, though."
I think Lexie is pretty kick-ass and her pet names for Ty are too cute. "There's a bitch in this town who needs a lesson and I'm the teacher." I suppose growing up as she did, gave her that kick-ass attitude. which is perfectly matched for Ty. It didn't take them long to fall for each other, but it's like they fell in love without really falling in love. It just happened without having to be said, you know it from all the little things they did for each other. The way others saw them through their eyes. It's kind of the sneak-up-on-you kind of love. Just how one would expect it to be with a pair like Ty and Lexie.
Of course a whole lotta shit goes down with conspiracies, lies and deception in relation to both Ty and Lexie. And when Lexie goes missing, shit hits the fan and Ty goes into full-blown protective alpha hero mode. You think it's one thing, but really I had no clue who was doing what. Which is great because I'm forever trying to nail down the plot in my head before it happens. It's nice when you get it all wrong and are surprised about the series of events unfolding.
My favourite parts are always when the heroine gets saved. Then you really get to watch just how much love they have for each other. It's always after the one you love is gone or in danger to really realize what greatness you had together. Ty and Lexie are the perfect couple. Oh and the epilogues! Good lord I love seeing their love grow and grow.
I really don't know what else to say about this book, other than READ IT! I fell hard for this book and really cannot get enough of Kristen's stories.
I think I was waiting on that one book, that one book that would make me fall head over heels for Kristen Ashley. Little did I know it wasn’t a book but rather a book boyfriend and his name was Ty. Oh how I loved Ty from the very first page and I didn’t sleep a wink until the very last!
Ty and Lexie don’t have the most conventional of introductions. Lexie thinks she’s to pick a strange guy up and deliver him where he wants to go, little does she know Ty is buying Lexie’s time for the foreseeable future. Ty has just been released from prison for a crime he didn’t commit. He’s hell bent on seeking revenge and Lexie will be his live-in alibi to prove his innocence when needed. But neither of the two expected to fall in love along the way.
I loved Lexie and Ty’s story. I was engrossed in the storyline of Ty’s wrongful incarceration and the circumstances surrounding it. Slowly, over the length of the story, I got to see the real Ty and couldn’t help but fall for him. He was a good man through and through and of course, it helped that he was rockin’ the sexy Alpha traits completely. I wasn’t the only one falling for his charm. Ty may have been a stranger but ever so slowly, Lexie discovered he was a diamond in the rough and just perfect for her.
“You’re far and away the most beautiful man I’ve met and it isn’t just that you have the looks and the body but it’s a whole lot more Ty Walker.”
Lexie had me laughing many times; she is my favourite KA heroine to date as I loved her sass. She didn’t grow up in a land of fairy tales so Lexie was under no illusions, but that made her strong, passionate and willing to stand up for herself. She was someone I wouldn’t mess with.
“So something has to give because there’s a bitch in this town who needs a lesson and I’m the teacher.”
“Shit, darlin’, remind me not to get on your bad side.” To which I turned my head to him immediately and said, “Don’t fuck over my husband, you’ll be fine.”
It was the slow bubbling romance that held me to this book, I loved reading about Ty and Lexie’s relationship growing into something more. From their very first night, when Ty fixed her bouquet to adding little touches around their house, the romantic in me was beaming all over the place. I loved every moment Ty and Lexie were together and the love they shared.
“Love you, Ty.” “Down to my bones, mama, right back at you.”
I am loving the world Kristen Ashley has created. At first, I was aware of the length of each book, 500 pages being the average, but now I get why they are so long. Not only are we getting to know the characters but the entire community too. I love all the supporting characters and the support they provide each other and it just makes me want to read on until the series end.
I am becoming accustomed to KA’s writing, the men tend not to pose questions, rather statements and I found myself having to reread a few sentences. The story was told mainly from Lexie’s point of view in first person, which I love, but I was also desperate for Ty’s point of view in this book. We did get it but it was told in third person and that did throw me, I wanted into Ty’s head. Having had the opportunity to ask Kristen Ashley in person about the point of view change, her answer was understandable. She isn’t a dude so she won’t attempt to write like one. I say that’s fair enough and I’ll come to terms with it eventually ;-)
Lady Luck was filled with twists, turns, drama and emotion. Lexie and Ty are my favourite couple to date. I love the dynamic between them and Lexie’s fire made her a girl after my own heart. I know I am late to the Kristen Ashley party but if you are a late bloomer like me, I say rectify this immediately!

Title: A Beautiful Thought
Author: Alicia Rae
Series: Beautiful #5
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Category: New Adult
Release Date: 14th July 2013
As a physical sports therapist, Gail Bennett is accustomed to working with gorgeous athletes every day, but after falling for a few of these attractive men, she has been left heartbroken one too many times. When Gail’s hours at work are unexpectedly cut, she must find a way to continue helping her parents pay for her sister’s education. Reluctantly following her best friend’s advice, Gail takes on a roommate—with the one man she has been avoiding since the first time she laid eyes on him.
Damon Johnson loves a challenge, and he is not the type of man to back down when he wants something. From the first moment he meets Gail for dinner, he feels an inexplicable pull between the two of them. In his determination to have her, he finds himself helping her in any way he can.
Can Damon break through all the barriers Gail has so carefully placed around her heart and prove that he’s different? Or will Gail’s reservations keep her from falling in love?
One thought could change everything.
A Beautiful Thought is the fifth book in the ‘Beautiful’ series by Alicia Rae and is Gail Bennett best friend of Kyle’s sister Abby and Damon Johnson, Lily’s cousin.
Gail has always put others first and before her own, she is kindhearted, is fiercely independent, and it’s that independent side, that means she never ask for help even when she needs it. A string of a bad relationship means that her walls are up; she is now guarded with her heart and finds it hard to trust men, and let them get too close for fear of more heartache. Therefore, it’s going to be one special man who is going to be the one who can break down her walls, to get her to open up and trust again.
New roommate Damon Johnson could be that man. Loss of hours at work means that Gail has reluctantly agreed to get a one as a way to help her financially, so that has could still help her parents pay for her sister education. Damon likes Gail, there is something about her, he wants her, but most of all he just wants to help in any way he can, and showed her that she doesn’t need to be afraid to accept help.
I enjoyed the storyline; told from Gail and Damon’s pov. It was a sweet sexy, steamy romantic read, about trust, hope, and taking a chance. I really like Gail, and I could connect, and so I understood some of her insecurities. Whist she has that tough exterior, there vulnerability about her that I could relate to. I loved Damon, and the way he was with Gail, and the little things he did to show her that she deserves, and worth more, and not all men are assholes.
Gail and Damon are a hot sexy couple with great chemistry and love how Alicia Rea steams up the pages in this one. I like that it's not insta love, but it was a case of when you know you know. There is definitely a mutual attraction, and emotional bond between Gail and Damon and I like the way things developed.
Overall, I really enjoyed A Beautiful Thought and as expected it was a well-written and well-paced story. A perfect easy read for a Sunday afternoon, and one that when left me with a smile on my face. Love how the previous main charters are woven into the story, always nice to know what is happening in their lives.
If you’ re looking for a romance series that is sexy, steamy, low on the drama and angst with likable characters, about family, friendship, and when the men are always sexy then I recommended that you add the Beautiful’ series to your TRB list as that is what Alicia Rea know how to write about, and always delivers. I'm looking forward the next book “A Beautiful Purpose” which I have a feeling is going to be Blake and Audrey story.
“My head might now want to let Damon in, but my heart already had. The two just need to find common ground”
“I don’t know how to handle the feeling you invoke within me. I’ve never felt this way about anyone before”
“You can’t hide the look in your eyes when you gaze into mine or the way I make you feel when we are standing close to each other”
“I don’t know what this is, but I want to find out”
“I never have that reaction to a woman before…. There was something about her, and I just couldn’t put my finger on what it was”
“Let me prove to you that I’m worth the chance”
“The way she looked at me at though she saw me, made me want to be a better man. It made me want to give her the world, to take care her, and see her smile every damn day”

Ex-Army Ranger, Brand Killien, has always been good.
A good friend, a good soldier, a good everything. .
The problem is, good hasn’t gotten him anything but a crushed heart.
So after licking his wounds, he decides to move on. And moving on doesn’t include being good anymore.
Bad sounds so much better.
Jaded and detached, Brand is determined to never open himself up to anyone again. It’s not worth the pain. Instead, he becomes closed, hardened, aloof.
But then he’s called back home for a family emergency… a family that he is estranged from. A family that he put out of his mind a long time ago for very good reasons…reasons that involve secrets and pain. Reasons he tried hard to forget.
But home is where the heart is, and it just might be where Brand finds his again.
Why? Because home is where Nora Greene is. A fiery, red-headed spitfire, Nora is a thing from his past. A beautiful, feisty thing. When Brand left, she was away at boarding school.
But she’s back now.
And she wants Brand, scars and all
“I didn’t say that,” I answer quietly, still not moving. Because right now, with her soft curves pressed into me, I do want her here.
And unfortunately, my dick chooses this moment to agree with me. It hardens against her and her eyes widen.
“I see,” she murmurs. I rotate away, straightening up and leaning on my crutches once again.
“Sorry about that,” I tell her. “I hope I didn’t crush you.”
With my hard-on.

Title: The Gamble
Series: The Colorado Mountain Series #1
Release: May 27, 2014 (Paperback)
Nina Sheridan desperately needs a timeout vacation. With a fiancé who can't even remember how she takes her coffee, Nina wants some distance to rethink her engagement. Flying halfway around the world from England to a mountain town in Colorado should do the trick. But when she finds a gorgeous man at her rental cabin, Nina's cold, lonely adventure suddenly heats up.
The owner of the house, Holden "Max" Maxwell is surprised by the beautiful woman who turns up at his door. But when Nina becomes ill, Max spends days nursing her back to health. A private man with a broken heart, Max finds himself drawn to the strong-willed woman. Soon it becomes impossible for Nina and Max to deny their growing attraction to one another. Yet even as these two wounded lovebirds think about taking a chance on a relationship, a dangerous secret from Max's past emerges-and threatens to end their love for good.
To continue my KA fix, I started The Gamble straight after reading Motorcycle Man, many friends recommended the Colorado Mountain series and I couldn’t wait to get stuck in.
The meeting of Max and Nina was quite funny, Nina had rented a house in a small town called Gnaw Bone, upon arriving at the house Nina assumed Max was the caretaker but much to her surprise he was actually the owner and there had been a double booking, Max would be staying at the house instead. Nina’s fiery personality was on fine form and she gave Max what for, she travelled all the way from England and encountered one disaster after another before she arrived, only to be told her two-week rental had been cancelled. Nina stormed out of Max’s house, only to be caught in the bad weather and it was up to Max to save the day.
Max was a silent, brooding character (just the way I like ‘em!) he was holding a lot back and it was clear he didn’t trust easy, he harboured a deep pain and wasn’t forthcoming to Nina about the cause. From their first encounter, he loved the fire within Nina and the fact that she could speak her own mind but Max was just as stubborn and when he decided how things were going to go, Nina learned the hard way that Max had the final say.
I found it quite difficult to get lost in the story. Because I had just finished Motorcycle Man less than twenty-four hours before, I found a lot of similarities to the characters and dialogue. Although the setting was different, I found The Gamble MCs shared many of the same characteristics as Tack and Tyra from MC Man. Nevertheless, I was enjoying the romance between Max and Nina and wanted to read on.
I’m beginning to notice things happen fast in Kristen Ashley books. Nina was only in Colorado for just under two weeks and in that time she shacked up with Max and managed to fall in love with him. Normally my insta-love radar would be going off but I managed to go with the flow and get on board with their relationship.
As always, it isn’t just the two main characters the story focuses on. The community of Gnaw Bone was included and there were some great secondary characters. Max’ ex-best friend and business partner created some waves for the couple even though he was no longer alive and Nina was caught in the crossfire. But thankfully she had a supreme Alpha like Max on hand to come to her rescue.
This book was over five hundred pages, going into it I felt a bit overwhelmed and there were times when I felt the book was really long but as I was nearing the end and the action kicked in, things picked up and I enjoyed it.
Although I didn’t enjoy The Gamble as much as my first KA book, it still was a good read and I think had I read them further apart it would have stood a better chance. What I will say is Kristen always treats us to a good epilogue and I love flashing into the future to discover what the couples have in store.
I’m still a newbie but for die hard Kristen Ashley fans, I have no doubt you will love The Gamble so you better check this one out.
“You stuck up for yourself and then you stuck up for the memory of your brother. You didn’t take any shit, not even a little of it.” His face dipped close and he whispered, “That’s not unattractive, baby. That’s beautiful.”
“After we get this done in town, we’re comin’ home and, swear to God, anyone gets close to this house, I’m fuckin’ shootin’ ‘em.”
“He was right there, as close as he could get and I wanted him there forever. I came down, holding him close, kissing him deep as he kept thrusting until he planted himself to the root, stayed there, and growled in my mouth. Yes, I wanted this forever.”
“We’re not really doing that.”
“Let’s move onto that phase of the evening,” I suggested.
His fingers curled around my shoulder and gave me a squeeze.
“Good idea,” he murmured.
“Do you want a beer?”
“I can make some hot chocolate,” I offered.
“Thanks, but no.”
“Do you want anything?”
My stomach dipped and my body grew tense.
“There’s somethin’ I been wantin’ awhile.”
“Take my mind off things.”
My head came up and I repeated, “Max.”
His fingers slid into my hair again and his eyes focused on my mouth. “Be a good way to celebrate breathin’, bein’ alive, and bein’ alone.”
“Kiss me, Duchess.”
My hand went to his chest as his hand pressed my face closer to his.
“You’re being domineering again,” I informed him. I felt his mouth grin under mine and watched his eyes do it.
“Yeah, baby, fair warnin’, when we’re naked, you better get used to that.”
I gasped at his words. Then he kissed me.
It could have been the snow falling softly all around the A‑frame, the fire burning in its grate, the soft lighting under the cupboards in the kitchen, and just the lamp by the couch being lit making the house more cozy and romantic than ever.
It could have been what happened that day to Mindy, Brody, Max, and me and relief that we were all here, still able to walk, talk, breathe, kiss.
It could have been Max’s long fingers in my hair, his hard, warm body so close to mine, his mouth tasting vaguely of coffee and cake and strongly of Max.
It could have been that this was Max, and today he proved he was more Wonder Max than ever.
Or it could have been he was just a very good kisser.
But I melted into him and his kiss, tipping my head to the side, lifting my hands to his neck and sliding my fingers into his thick hair, touching my tongue to his.
He growled in my mouth and at the feel of it, the sound of it, my body responded to just how much I liked that noise coming from Max and the fact that it was me who made him make it, and I pressed into him.
His hand went from my waist, up my shirt, and I felt the rough pads of his fingers against the skin of my back.
My body liked that too.
I pressed closer.
Max twisted his torso to me, pushing me back into the chair, his hand coming to my front, running over my ribs, my midriff, and up to cup my breast.
“Yes,” I whispered against his lips when his warm hand closed over my soft flesh.
Then I kissed him, our tongues tangling, his thumb stroking my nipple. One of my hands went from his hair to tug up his shirt and it slid in, gliding along his hot skin and solid muscle.
His finger found his thumb and together they squeezed and rolled.
I felt this dance through my body, most specifically straight between my legs, and it felt so good, I liked it so much, I lost it. I pushed him back and followed him, moving up over him to straddle his hips as my hands went to his shirt, lifting it up. Max helped, his hands going from me to the back of his neck, where he tugged the shirt over his head, down his arms and he tossed it away.
It was my time, my chance, his magnificent chest was right there in front of me and I wanted to explore.
So I bent, my lips going to his neck, my hands going to his body. Both explored. Fingers, lips, tongue, teeth. I slid down, bowed my back to get to him, taste his skin, drift the tips of my fingers across the ridges of his belly, run the edges of my teeth against his nipple, the sound of him sucking in breath forcing a surge of wetness to strike between my legs.
His fingers curled into my shirt and up it went, forcing my torso up, my arms. Then it, too, was tossed away and Max’s hands came to my back, pressing in, forcing me to arch forward, pushing me up, and his lips fastened on my nipple over my bra.
“Max,” I breathed as the sensation of his mouth closing on me rocked through my body, my hands sliding into his hair, and his tongue flicked out.
Even over my bra this felt better than his fingers, way better. He had a very strong tongue.
“More,” I demanded on a whisper, my hips instinctively rolling against his hard crotch. His mouth went away but his hand pulled my bra down, his fingers curling around my breast and there it was, Max’s mouth direct on me.
I tipped my head down to watch and there was something so amazing about Max’s dark head close to my skin. His tanned hand holding my breast to his talented mouth. I couldn’t hold it back and I heard my moan as it escaped my lips.
His head tilted back, his face more beautiful suffused with want, especially his want of me , and he muttered, “Jesus, honey.”
“More,” I whispered again, and suddenly we were up, Max’s hands at my bottom. My legs went around his hips, my arms went around his shoulders, and he was striding to the stairs.
I couldn’t stop, didn’t have near enough of him. Maybe I could never get enough. But I was going to try. I bent my head and put my mouth to his neck, tasting it with my tongue, tugging his earlobe with my teeth.
Before I knew it, we were by the bed, Max bent at the hips, and the light went on.
“Drop your legs, Duchess,” he ordered, and I did as I was told.
I no sooner got my feet on the floor than the drawstring was pulled on my pajama bottoms and they pooled at my ankles and then I was up again, only to be partially placed, partially tossed on the bed.
I watched Max follow me down but he didn’t land on top of me. His hands slid up my inner thighs, spreading my legs, and then his mouth was on me, over my panties.
I heard the low, rough noise escape my throat as his mouth moved on me. Then he muttered, “Fuckin’ soaked,” before his fingers shoved the material of my panties aside and his mouth
was on me.
I bucked against his mouth and moaned, “Max.”
It was debatable whether his finger or his tongue was more gifted until his finger slid inside and his mouth covered my sweet spot and sucked deep. My whole body jolted at the sheer beauty of it and I knew a combination of the two was the best.
“Oh my God,” I breathed, because it was coming and it was going to be beyond anything I’d ever experienced.
Then Max’s finger slid away and his mouth moved up an inch and he kissed me over my panties.
My head shot up and I cried in protest, “Max!”
His hands went to my armpits and he hauled me up and twisted me in the bed until my head hit the pillows and he came down on top of me.
“You stopped!” I accused.
“We’re comin’ together this time, baby,” he said against my mouth, and then kissed me, his tongue sliding inside. This time I tasted me on Max and it was so appealing, me mingled with Max, I forgot to be angry that he left me hanging and I kissed him back.
He rolled to my side, his finger hooking in my underwear, tugging it down, and I pedaled my feet to kick them off. They no sooner left my ankles than Max’s arms came around me and he rolled to his back, taking me with him and I pulled up, straddling him, and my hands instantly went to his jeans. His hand went to the nightstand. I unbuttoned. He pulled open the drawer.
I slid down his thighs and bent low, touching my lips to the flat, taut skin over the waistband at his fly as I kept unbuttoning. His hand came to my hair. I got the buttons undone and yanked the jeans partly down his hips and saw my first glimpse of the true meaning of Wonder Max.
He was beautiful all over.
My hand wrapped around him for half a happy second when I was pulled up, rolled over, and Max was on me.
“You keep stopping me in the middle of the good stuff,” I snapped, my hands sliding down his back, one going in his jeans and over his bottom and it was soft (his skin) and tight (his muscle) and I immediately decided I loved it.
Max ripped open a condom with his teeth before he grinned, his mouth came to mine, and he promised, “You’ll get the good stuff, Duchess.”
His hand was working between us but his mouth was now covering mine and he was kissing me again and then his hips were between my legs and, just as I was really getting into the kiss, I felt the muscles of his bottom bunch under my hand and he thrust into me.
The feel of him, so big, so glorious, surging into me, filling me, connecting me to him, made me break our kiss as my neck arched reflexively and I committed that moment to memory, burned it into my brain, knowing I’d never forget it as long as I lived.
My other hand went into his jeans, both my legs bent at the knees to give him deeper purchase, and I pressed them against his sides as Max pulled out and rammed back in.
“That’s beautiful,” I whispered the God’s honest truth.
“You’re absolutely fuckin’ right,” Max muttered his agreement, pulling out so I could only feel the tip and then slamming back in.
My fingers flexed, my legs squeezed, and my mouth begged, “More, darling.”
He gave me more. He gave me his mouth, his tongue, his right forearm in the bed beside me, his left hand fisted in my hair, and he thrust into me harder, faster.
It was back. It was coming. I was coming and he’d been right the day before—it was going to be so big, I was going to split straight out of my skin.
I panted, my hips rocking with his drives.
“I can feel it, Jesus, Nina, you’re ready,” Max groaned.
“Come for me, baby.”
“Okay,” I breathed, and did what I was told.
I closed my eyes and my head rolled back, my hips reared up, my hands went from his behind to become my arms wrapping him tight and I gasped as it tore through me, hard, long, and soul-destroyingly beautiful.
Max’s face was in my neck and I felt his growled release against my skin half a second after I felt him drive in deep and stay planted there.
After, neither of us moved for a while. Max stayed buried deep, his face in my neck and my arms stayed wrapped around him, my thighs pressed to his sides.
Finally, Max rolled to his back, his arms coming around me as he settled me, straddling him and still connected, on top.
“Yeah,” he murmured against my neck as his hand drifted along the skin of my back. “It’s fair to say we got chemistry.”
