I was craving a good billionaire story and I have never read Jessica Lemmon before so I took the plunge. This wasn't exactly the story I was looking for...
I felt like Reece and Merina lacked chemistry or rather, an emotional build-up to make their chemistry believable. Sure they were likeable, but I just didn't believe in anything they had together. And it seemed like once they got married they lost themselves and got even more boring.
I really am quite pissed the author used an ex-girlfriend in the end of this story the way she did given the things she did to Reece and how much he apparently hated her. Complete BS! There was no punch in the breakup drama. It just seemed to flatline, just like the epilogue.
This book certainly didn't satisfy my billionaire book boyfriend itch. I really wished I had liked it more. I'm tempted to give the next book in the series a shot, the writing was good and I'd like to give her another chance. I guess I'll see where my mind set is when it comes out.

He picks up where he left off as drag queen extraordinaire Frieda Love in a West Village bar in New York City. Why mess around with a guy who is clearly giving him mixed signals?
Sebastian Clark is on a mission the first night he shows up at Ruby Redd’s. He doesn’t anticipate his plan being flipped on its head by the charismatic drag queen and even more so by the mesmerizing man beneath the makeup. But the more he learns about the vibrant and brash Tate Sullivan the more intrigued he becomes. So he pushes aside his guilt about why he sought out the bar in the first place in order to get to know the guy behind the stilettos.
They’re opposites on many levels, but as Tate spends time volunteering with Sebastian at the shelter, he begins to feel good about himself in ways he hadn’t before. For Sebastian, Tate represents a sense of fun and freedom that is completely fresh and invigorating. "I would love you forever, if I only had the chance..."
Kacey Dawson has always lived life on the edge--impulsively, sometimes recklessly. And now, as lead guitarist for a hot up-and-coming band, she is poised at the brink of fame and fortune. But she is torn between wanting to be a serious musician, and the demons that lure her down the glittering, but alcohol-soaked path of rock stardom. A wrecked concert in Las Vegas threatens to ruin her career entirely. She wakes up with the hangover from hell and no memory of the night before, or how she ended up on her limo driver’s couch...
Jonah Fletcher is running out of time. He knows his situation is hopeless, and he's vowed to make the most of the handful of months he has left to him. His plans include seeing the opening of his glass installation at a prestigious art gallery…they do not include falling in love with a wild, tempestuous rock musician who wound up passed out on his couch.
Jonah sees that Kacey is on a path to self-destruction. He lets her crash with him for a few days to dry out and get her head on straight. But neither of them expected the deep connection they felt, or how that connection could grow so fast from friendship into something more. Something deep and pure and life-changing…something as fragile as glass, that they both know will shatter in the end no matter how hard they try to hold on to it.
Full Tilt is a story about what it means to love with your whole heart, to sacrifice, to experience terrible grief and soaring joy. To live life with all its beauty, and all its pain, and in the end to be able to smile through tears and know you wouldn’t have changed a thing.

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
As I sit here writing this review, I am completely overwhelmed with emotions because of this book. To the author… you will never know just how special this story was to me. So meaningful, so touching. Definitely a top read for me this year.
“Lovers don’t finally meet somewhere. They are in each other all along.”
Kacey Dawson is a lead guitarist in an up and coming band that is on their way to stardom. However, this fame is not enough. Or perhaps its just too much. Kacey is slowly on the road to self-destruction. She lives life where she is constantly trying to escape with alcohol, sex, and partying. One fateful night she lands in the arms of Jonah Fletcher. Two unlikely people collide in a way that neither one saw coming. But there’s a problem. Jonah is on borrowed time. He has goals. And none of these goals include falling in love.
“You felt it too, right?”
Jonah and Kacey agree upon a friendship because that is all either can offer right now. As much as Kacey feels a connection to Jonah, she is willing to take something rather than nothing. She is drawn to him in a way she can’t explain. But Jonah doesn’t have the heart to give a piece of himself that could disappear at any time. Their friendship builds over time. The connection becomes harder and harder to ignore. But what happens when everything comes to the surface? What happens when you just let go? You love. Deeply. Without regret.
“She was so much. I could spend a thousand full lifetimes and never reach the end of her. She is a universe.”
Jonah and Kacey’s love is earth shattering. Consuming. Unwavering. It was an absolute privilege to have watched two beautiful souls fall in love. They loved fiercely. Recklessly. Selfishly. Without abandon. Despite their circumstances, their love never wavered. Never faltered. You have not read a love like theirs, and in all honesty, you probably never will. These two will captivate you with not only their actions, but with the way they speak of love. Their declarations of love. But how they love? It’s overwhelming. Endearing. Inspiring. They love through darkness. Through the impossible. They love even when the world is telling them not to. Their love is timeless.
“I felt him in every pore, every breath and beat of our hearts. I’d never experienced anything like this in my life. He was a universe. My love for him was just as boundless.”
The writing? It absolutely MOVED me. Emma Scott. You have such a GIFT for words. Meaningful words. Your words touch me. Enlighten me. Challenge me. They remind me to love hard. Deeply. And freely. The words are poetry that echo the lyrics of the most beautiful love song you will ever hear. The pacing of this story is seamless as the author weaves you through Jonah and Kacey’s story. As Jonah fights against time to leave his legacy, he finds that perhaps love is the greatest thing you can ever leave behind.
“Being loved by you, Jonah…it’s the greatest honor of my life.”
This book. It invaded my mind. The words of this book are forever imprinted within in the depths of my heart. And most importantly my soul. Full Tilt is LIFE CHANGING. Your heart will ache. But it will also love. Love deeper than you ever thought possible. This story is a testament to truly cherishing the moments we have. Words fail me as I try to truly describe just how much this story resonated with me. It’s on a level that I don’t ever think any book will ever come close to. As if I couldn’t love this author any more. And she gifts us with this. THIS. BOOK. Her words. Words that I will never forget. A love that I will never forget.
“I kept waiting to find the end of your love and beauty, the end of your generous heart. I never did. I never will. I don’t know how or why you chose me to love, and you did choose.”
Full Tilt is a poignant and beautiful story about sacrifice and love. To accept and give love no matter the circumstance or consequence. Despite the pain and uncertainty. Jonah’s love? To love Kacey? Love is worth that risk. Because love changes. Love saves. Love remains. In all things, choose love. Always. The message behind this story is a deep one. Cherish every moment for all of your life. I am forever changed because of this beautiful book.

Dirty Sexy Cuffed by Carly Phillips and Erika Wilde
Date of Publication: June 21, 2016
As a cop, Levi Kincaid is all about discipline and control . . .in the bedroom, and out of it, and he's always been very careful about choosing women who abide by his rules. Hot sex and intense pleasure? No problem. Emotional commitment and forever promises? No way. But he never anticipates falling for a blue eyed angel who makes him want to cuff her to his bed and do dirty, sexy things to her. And that control of his? It doesn't stand a chance against Sarah Robins, the one woman he can't resist . . .
I like to think of this series as an easy read. The books are not too long, they are super hot and even funny at times. Dirty Sexy Cuffed is loaded with great lines from Super Sexy Levi. Sweet Sarah is loveable and vulnerable without being suffocating. Which is great because let's face it, it gets rather annoying. MOVE ON ALREADY!
Sometimes I'm very impatient with stories and I just want to get to all the good stuff. This book will give you that WITHOUT missing any of the details that makes the story real. The characters are written in such a great way that it's easy to get to know who they are in a chapter rather than five down the line. I really appreciate a story like that sometimes. No fuss, no muss.
Levi and Sarah both had less than ideal childhoods. These events gave them a sort of bond to grow off of. They were both pretty open with each other and didn't draw out any unnecessary drama with all their issues. THANK YOU! She is the life jacket and he is the raft. I know that's so corny but it's seriously true. In my mind anyways.
I like this series A LOT. Dirty Sexy Saint (book 1) is still my favourite but Levi is a very close second! It's uncomplicated reading that will give you an afternoon of fun sexy reading. And that epilogue...O. M. F. G. I CANNOT wait for the next book!

The long-awaited prequel to a love story for the ages.
She was the only woman he wanted…but the only one he couldn’t have
Ian Gregson had been born into wealth and power – one of the privileged heirs of the top luxury hotel chain in the world. To the outside world, he was seemingly the man who had everything – money, prestige, good looks, charisma – a man who could have any woman he desired. But the only woman he’d ever truly coveted was forbidden to him for far too many reasons to count – her youth, her employment within his company, and especially her commitment to another man.
Tessa Lockwood’s young life has been one of deprivation, misfortune, and heartbreaking loss. Working for the Gregson Hotel Group offers up a glimpse into a world she had never before imagined – one of affluence, sophistication, and splendor. And meeting the suave, elegant Ian Gregson for the very first time awakens feelings in her that she struggles to repress, never imagining that a man like him could find a nobody like her attractive.
Ian and Tessa fight their feelings for the other, knowing that a relationship between them can never exist. But when matters of the heart are involved, things are never quite that simple. How long will both of them be able to hold on before betraying their forbidden attraction to each other? Or will they be destined to remain forever apart?

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
If I was forced to read one author over and over, it would be this one. No one writes romance like her. She writes on a level that many can’t even begin to compare. She makes me feels things that only her writing can. I wasn’t sure why she was writing Covet. But now? I can’t imagine her not writing this book!
Whether you’ve read and loved Splendor, or this is your first time meeting Ian and Tessa you are in for a real treat. This is more of a prequel as this story is multilayered. We meet Tessa as a teen. She has endured such unfortunate circumstances. The worst imaginable. Never really had someone to love her or show her love. Until she met Peter. He was her savior. He showed compassion when the world continued to shut their doors in her face. This relationship developed into more. Marriage. But it never quite satisfied Tessa. But she was relentless in her devotion to him. As he saved her life. But Peter was broken. He could never give her the type of love she so very much deserved.
Years later, endurance, hard work, courage, and perseverance pays off. Peter and Tessa finally have place of their own. Tessa has recently secured a well paid part time position with the hope that it will be a full time job at the Gregson group, a hotel chain. Tessa is excited for this opportunity. While work is going well, her home life could be better. Peter withdraws from her more than usual. They’ve never had the normal marriage, but it was theirs. Built on friendship and devotion. They understood each other’s broken pieces like no one else could. As devoted as she was, Tessa craved more. But no. This is not what you think. There is no cheating. This story is in a realm of its own. As a woman, she’s never felt the desire of a man. Not until she runs into Ian Gregson. The head of the company she works for.
Ian Gregson is a sight to behold. He exudes control, power, and he finds his weakness in the eyes of Tessa Lockwood. He is attracted to her physically, but he also sees something deep within her. He’s drawn to the goodness of her heart. Her loyalty. Her ability to be kind to every single person, despite how they treat her. But he has a strict no dating staff policy. So he covets her from afar.
“Let me take care of you now, cherish you the way a woman like you should always be adored.”
Adore. That is what Ian does for Tessa. How can one man fall so deeply? His heartbeat is in tuned with hers. He wants to love and cherish her. But is she truly his to have? Does her heart belong to another? A love like theirs is classic and timeless. It can wait. Ian is the most romantic man I’ve ever read. He’s overwhelming, yet gentle. Patient, but passionate. His love forbidden, but powerful.
The author’s writing leaves me speechless. Breathless. Every. Single. Time. Her unparalleled talent blows me away with her innate ability to craft a well written and moving storyline with unforgettable characters. The pacing of the story is genius as the author allows you to truly get deep within the story. I look forward for what’s to come with the remainder of this trilogy.

Title: Breaking Skin
Author: Debra Doxer
Genre: Standalone Contemporary Romance
Release Date: June 20, 2016
“Deep down, we all want a no-matter-what kind of love.”
Dancing is like magic. It makes me disappear. When I dance I’m not a sister or a daughter, not a lover or a friend. I exist in the moment, onstage, where I turn pain into art and pretend the illusion is real. My past is an abomination and my future is unwritten, but my present is pure, fluid, and focused. I’m content, or at least I think I am, until the night I meet a man who makes me want more.
He’s broken, just like me, but in different ways. He’s older and nothing like the men I’m used to. Compared to him, they’re all boys, immature and insipid, while he’s a force of nature, confident and virile. Virile is a word I’ve never used before, and I only use it now because he embodies it so completely.
At first, he fights the attraction between us almost as hard as I do. But when words like destiny and soulmate whisper through my thoughts, how can I ignore them? He can have any girl he wants, but he looks at me as if I’m the girl he’s waited for his whole life. How can I tell him I’m not that girl?
I wish I were enough for him, wish I were whole. But beneath my facade, I’ve been falling to pieces for a long time, and I don’t know if I’m strong enough to resist the downward momentum.
"I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This author never fails to amaze me. With her stories. Her characters. With her words. Breaking Skin is a profound love story.
“There are certain events in your life that leave an indelible mark. They change you because they write themselves on your soul.”
It takes one moment for someone to imprint themselves on your heart. And that’s what happened to Cole and Nikki. They were both out one night, trying to forget the downward spiral their lives were currently going through. They spotted each other across the room. And sparked a conversation. But something else was sparked that night. That passionate night was something neither one would ever forget. And two years later, they find themselves facing each other again. But circumstances are different. Life is hard. Things are complicated. The one thing that still remains is that the connection felt two years ago? It’s still there. Stronger than ever.
“How is it that you can make me feel so good when everything is such a mess?”
Cole and Nikki are two broken people. Although broken in different ways, they find solace in each other. Cole sees Nikki as the beautiful ballerina who steals his heart on and off the dance floor. He is drawn to her selflessness. In his world, everyone looks out for themselves. In her world, she looks after everyone else. Her passion for life and love for others is that allows him to fall for her. And Cole? He is strength. He’s a testament to love and its power to save. Nikki doesn’t feel so helpless with him around. He sees the beautiful and strong person she tries to hide.
“Because we make each other stronger. The two of us together could slay dragons if we had to."
The emotions in this book are palpable. Deeply moving. Powerful. The author is phenomenal at allowing the readers to understand the deep pain Nikki feels. She is lighter when she dances. Her heart isn’t as heavy. She can put all her feelings of turmoil and anger into her dance. It makes her feel alive. Cole embodies love and everything love can get through. Their love is tested and challenged. But what’s destined to be never falters. It endures.
“With every step, you held my heart in the palm of your hand. When you stopped dancing, it still belonged to you. It does belong to you.”
The writing style is what lured me in as a reader. I read it in one sitting. I was unable to stop reading, as the author masterfully crafted a compelling and heartfelt story. I love that this author always puts her own spin on her contemporary romance stories. Nothing is ever the same. The characters are genuine, relatable. The storyline is a little mysterious to keep your attention, but addicting all the same. Breaking Skin was heartbreakingly beautiful. A definite must read for every fan of contemporary romance.
“I enjoyed watching you dance. You move like poetry.”
“What can I do to help?” he asks.
“You can kiss me.”
Cole goes still.
Wide-eyed, I gaze up at him. I can’t believe I just said that. God knows I want to kiss him.
“It doesn’t have to be anything more,” I say when he doesn’t move. “Just a simple kiss to relieve the tension, because we want to, because it will feel good. It doesn’t have to be a complication.”
Surprise flickers in his eyes as they search mine. He licks his lips but still he hesitates, and I want to scream in frustration. Where’s the Cole I met two years ago, the one who homed in on me like a laser at Blackburn’s? The one who in his own quiet way made it impossible to refuse him.
Before I can think better of it, I push up onto my toes and wrap my arms around Cole’s neck, pushing my body flush against his.
“Please,” I whisper, ashamed that I have to beg but willing to do it anyway.
His jaw flexes and thoughts war behind his eyes, but finally his arms come around me as his lips slant over mine. He pulls me closer, and when his hand fists in my hair and gently tugs my head back to deepen the kiss, I’m lost to him.
Cole takes control and there’s no slow buildup, no gradual descent. Passion consumes us, and it wouldn’t matter if a tornado came tearing through the yard. I wouldn’t notice. But somehow Cole keeps his wits about him. He drags his mouth from mine.
“Langley,” he says, his gaze focused above my head toward the slider into the kitchen. Thinking quickly, he moves us to the side, out of view.
“Did she see?” My heartbeat is frantic, my body strung tight.
“I don’t think so.”
We stand there and catch our breaths together. He rests his chin on my head because neither of us have relaxed our arms. We still have them wrapped around each other.
“A kiss between us is complicated, Nikki. Let’s not fool ourselves.”
Slowly, I unwind my arms from his neck. “Why? Because of Renee?”
He leans back to look at me. “Because of us. Because of how this feels.”
This feels incredible, but I can already sense him pulling away. He’s shutting down again, and my racing heart beats even faster because I’m going to ask the question that hangs between us. The one reason I’m most afraid is the source of his hesitation.

The new series is set in Vermont. True North is populated by the tough, outdoorsy mountain men that populate the Green Mountain State. They raise cows and they grow apples. They chop a lot of wood, especially when they need to blow off steam. (Beards are optional but encouraged.)
If you can’t stand the heat, get out of the orchard.
The last person Griffin Shipley expects to find stuck in a ditch on his Vermont country road is his ex-hookup. Five years ago they’d shared a couple of steamy nights together. But that was a lifetime ago.
At twenty-seven, Griff is now the accidental patriarch of his family farm. Even his enormous shoulders feel the strain of supporting his mother, three siblings and a dotty grandfather. He doesn’t have time for the sorority girl who’s shown up expecting to buy his harvest at half price.
Vermont was never in Audrey Kidder’s travel plans. Neither was Griff Shipley. But she needs a second chance with the restaurant conglomerate employing her. Okay—a fifth chance. And no self-righteous lumbersexual farmer will stand in her way.
They’re adversaries. They want entirely different things from life. Too bad their sexual chemistry is as hot as Audrey’s top secret enchilada sauce, and then some.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
“Tell me how to make you happy and I’ll do it.”
Twenty- seven year old Griffin Shipley is now left to take care of his family and their farm after the death of his father. He is no stranger to hard work or providing for his family, therefore he’s never questioned anything. He does what he can to ensure his family and the farm stays afloat. Circumstances bring him face to face with his past. Audrey Kidder. A woman he never believed he would ever see again. A woman he's wanted, but she could never belong to him. Her job has tasked her with buying from his farm. But Griff is not having it with the low prices she insists on getting. There is this push and pull between them. This ends up igniting something that soon neither one can ignore. Despite them trying not to need each other. They are confronted with the fact that neither one wants to live a life without the other one in it.
“Where else do you need me?”
Griffin and Audrey have this undeniable chemistry. A flame burns whenever they are around each other. And as a reader you feel it grow hotter and deeper as the story develops. Griff is more than your typical grumpy alpha. He has such heart. As much as he tries to hide it, its Audrey that brings out the best of him. While he is strong, his heart is gentle. His persona overwhelming, but his beauty is intoxicating. Audrey is funny, witty, and everything Griff needs to put him in his place. Audrey doesn’t believe in love, but Griff makes her want to. He makes the idea seem possible. Tangible. A possibility. Their sweet and sexy story will have you turning the pages as fast as you can as you get lost within the words.
“Whats the beautiful part?”
“I’m holding it right here.”
Bittersweet was such an amazing read. The characters had so much heart. The storyline was gripping and the writing was flawless. In true, Sarina Bowen fashion, she crafts a story that any reader will have a hard time putting down. I was so easily invested in this story. I love that it never followed the normal romance recipe. The synopsis just grazes the surface of just how special this one is. You will laugh, but most of all, you will love. The story was low on angst, high on steam, and perfect on the romance. If you love Sarina, or perhaps maybe you have never read her, THIS book is the one to read!
This was my first Sarina Bowen book and I'm officially hooked! I've never read a book set in Vermont and I've also never read a book about farmers for that matter! Especially a hot farmer with a specialty in making alcoholic cider. Bittersweet is funny, sexy and extremely heartwarming and I just couldn't get enough.
August Griffin Shipley the third is the the grumpy, handsome farmer and Audrey Kidder is the hot little minx of a chef who has Griff all tied up in knots and completely frustrated. From the moment Audrey drove her car into the ditch on Griff's farm the chemistry was like BAM! Or maybe I should say the tension was that way, because this wasn't the first time these two have locked eyes. They hooked up in college a few times, but a misunderstanding about a phone call led them to never speak again, until now.
Audrey is working for a restaurant company that needs to purchase products from local farmers in order to make their menus more enticing and rare, and Griff's farm--Shipley Farms is first on her list. I seriously think I have a thing for farms now! Everything about farm life from the pigs to the apple trees to the crazy farm hands and family members had me feeling all warm inside, I absolutely loved the feeling I got while reading this book. The author made slaughtering a pig sexy and romantic! How is that even possible? I have no clue but it was, and it was also strangely hot because of what it turned into, and maybe I need to get my head checked because I loved it!
There were so many cool little details in this story, I cried over an easy-bake oven and was grinning ear to ear with all of the Star Wars references I was pretty much in my happy place the whole time. I was left very hungry and thirsty though, like literally. With all the wonderful food being cooked and ciders being tasted you might want to have some snacks nearby because the author knows how to write about food and drink!
There's something about all of the camaraderie on the farm that really stuck with me, their sense of values and work ethic makes you fall in love with that type of lifestyle, and I just wanted to transplant myself into the beautiful landscape that the author created for the reader, because it felt very personal and I love when a book does that. I really loved each and every character and I kind of want to kidnap Griff's mom for myself. Book #2 is Jude's book, he's one of the farmhands and he's had a troubled past so I'm super excited to see what his book is all about, and hopefully I'll get a reunion with all of my beloved characters! I am definitely a new Sarina Bowen fan.

“It’s like you’re full of secrets that you can’t speak, but you wear them on your face anyway.”
This is not your usual read. It is not the normal sad girl meets boy and he changes things. No. It’s more than that. Deeper. It’s a slow burn. It’s something that you can’t quite put your finger on, but its there. You feel it. And when things come to the surface? You’re just never the same.
“But in that moment, my indefinites transformed into something solid, real. Something I shouldn’t want, shouldn’t need. And yet…I did.”
Trista has lived in a world of sorrow. As the synopsis states, she tragically loses her best friend. And with that she loses a big part of herself. Unsure if she can ever overcome this, years later she moves to Colorado to be with her boyfriend, Colin. They have always lived a part, but with no reason to stay where she currently lives, she decides to move and be with him. She soon realizes that her heart is just not in it. Not with him. But Colin wants her to try. For them to be happy like before. But was Trista ever happy? When Trista meets his roommate, Jude something shifts in her. A light inside flickers deep inside of her. After a while that light that Jude found never wants to be turned off.
“You needed someone to see you were practically throbbing, with your aching, and- for some reason- I saw it. Saw you.”
Jude. There’s more to him than meets the eye. He is mysterious, yet gentle. He’s patient. He listens. He observes. His soul is pure. His words are meaningful and deep. He has secrets. You don’t know them. But you feel that he has them deep inside. His tattoos give a story. It’s his way of telling a story rather than allowing his scars to speak for themselves. It’s beautiful. Moving. And he will absolutely blow you away. Falling in love with Jude was easy for Trista. There was no trying. It just happened.
“Tell me what you’re feeling, Trista.”
“I’m not supposed to love you.”
The connection between Jude and Trista is unreal. He is so sensitive to her heart. To her thoughts. Her feelings. Her sorrow becomes his. He understands her sorrow. Probably more than she realizes. Their time together slowly brings Trista out of her shell. She begins to question her relationship with Colin, or the lack there of. I would not consider this a love triangle. Not even close. This story is multi layered. It’s deep. And to describe it be a love triangle would not do it justice. Instead, I will say that this story will push and challenge you. You will question love. And what does love look like? Feel like? Can you be in love with someone else when you barely know yourself? Love yourself?
“But Jude has snuck in, under the collapse of my life, burrowing into the cracks of what was left behind.”
The words in this book? Magical. Poetic. Astounding. Moving. I was mesmerized by the way the author crafted her story. Every word gave this story life. Every word was an intricate part of this story. I was overcome with emotion just by the very words in this book. Her words are powerful. Spellbinding. Addicting. The story pulls you in more and more as it develops and unfolds. You have no idea what’s to come. But you feel that there’s something underlying. Something waiting to be revealed. But when things come to the surface. Everything shatters. But not the love that Trista and Jude share. Their former shattered pieces are still whole and it is their love that keeps them together. But its their lives that will never be the same. And Jude? He promised he would wait. Wait until Trista is ready. Ready for what? That is for you to read.
“I think… that I could very easily drown in the feelings I have…for you.”
Into The Tomorrows is not a book that you read. It’s one that you get lost in. While I did have issues with the slow beginning, it later hit me that the author has her method for this. How can we truly understand the anguish, the pain, and the beauty of her words, the characters, and the story without being immersed in that world? This is a book that you savor. You absorb. You live. It is brave, thought provoking, and will leave you breathless. I have always been in awe of this author’s writing, but this book solidified it for me.
I like nachos and champagne and clean sheets. I spend far too much time at Starbucks. I wrote a couple books:
He Found Me ~ Ten Below Zero ~ He Saved Me
Seven is about Embyr Quinn and her journey for vengeance. She was a victim of a horrible bet turned blackmail by a group of popular guys in high school known as the PITCREW, each letter representing the first names of her tormenters. Skip to ten years later and she’s changed her name, her appearance and has done thorough research in order to exact her revenge on each and every one of them. The only problem is that she can’t resist the pull she has towards Casen Parker—The C in Pitcrew.
The first half of the book was somewhat slow for me, but I kept going because the story was intriguing enough that I needed to find out what this bet entailed and who was responsible for what action. I understood Embyr’s need to get these guys back for what they’ve done to her, but some of her actions had me shaking my head. She methodically moves from guy to guy with different acts that will inevitably ruin their lives, and in consequence she ruins the lives of several other innocent people who are connected to them. Yes, she felt guilt and she even tried rationalizing her retaliation with some sort of weird reverse logic that I just couldn’t get on board with. This woman was out for blood and didn’t care who she trampled in her path, it was so selfish to me, but I get it. A woman scorned and all.
The book picked up for me in the second half because I was very intrigued by Casen, Reece & Ian and what their connection was in all of this. I also found it hard to believe that you wouldn't recognize a girl you were very well aware of in high school after only ten years, even with changes to your appearance etc… eventually you'd notice, especially after becoming intimate. And NOT ONE of the guys noticed until her true identity was revealed.
Ultimately the book was pretty enjoyable for me and I appreciated how Embyr finally felt remorse for her actions and how capable she was of forgiveness. I really liked Casen, and even Reece grew on me towards the end, because I did not like him in the beginning. There IS a cliffhanger and it was a very abrupt one, so I’m definitely looking forward to reading Casen’s POV in the next book titled CASEN, which comes out in the fall of 2016.
“Am I going to get your name tonight, beautiful?”
“Not interested,” I state, trying not to let the seduction in his voice fool me.
“Not interested? I’ve never heard anyone with that name,” he tries to joke, but I don’t laugh.
This is the kind of shit he uses to pick up women?
“What can I getcha?” Damien asks.
I point at my glass, requesting another drink, and motion towards Casen, “On his tab.”
“Budweiser for me.” Casen tells him before returning his full attention back to me. “If I’m going to buy you a drink, then it’s only fair you tell me your name.” His leg brushes against mine, lifting my skirt and exposing more of my thigh. Goosebumps spread across my skin like wild fire and I will them down.
Stay focused, Em.
My fingers come up to play with my necklace, and I relent, “Embyr.” I pick my gaze up and stare directly into his eyes. I drag them down his body, noticing the long-sleeved, black Henley he’s wearing and faded jeans. His shoes are black, as well, and they look like they hold massive feet. I peek at his hands, seeing exactly what Trinity meant. They are huge.
A moment passes before he says, “Don’t you want to know my name?”
I already know your name. Casen Parker. Fire fighter. Lived with your friends, my other high school bullies, Ian and Reece, up until two months ago, when you all ventured off and got your own places. Homecoming King in high school and graduated with honors in fire science.
But, I don’t say all that.
“Okay, then.” I roll my eyes as if the idea is beneath me. “So, what’s your name?”
He stares for a moment before widening his smile. “Casen.”
His cockiness pulls me in and I can’t bring myself to turn away. His heated tone breaks through my barrier and a flood of emotions take over. Even though it’s been ten years, he still looks the same and I feel a spark of not only hatred but attraction. I didn’t expect that and it makes all of the high school memories come screaming back at me. They consume me. My chest tightens while I feel my face burning. I can’t control the tremble of my hands as I pick up my glass trying to keep this panic attack under control.
I haven’t had one of these since high school.
I take deep breaths, gasping for air, hoping I don’t pass out. It’s not working. The memories continue to suffocate me. I feel constricted.
I can’t fucking breathe.
A gentle touch glides over my back and I jump at the contact. “You okay?” Casen asks concern evident in his voice.
Deep breath in. Deep breath out.
I’m finally able to lift my head and slide off of the stool, grasping my purse to my chest. “Yes. I just…” I stumble. “I need a moment.”
I race to the bathroom, knowing full well I am fucking this up. I’ve managed to screw Patrick and Thad over no problem. So what is so different that, just speaking to Casen twice in the past week, has me turned inside out? The bathroom door slams against the tiled wall when I barge in and lock myself inside. My forehead meets the cold metal of the door as I chastise myself.
Get your shit together, Embyr.
You hate him.
He didn’t stop them.
He repulses you.
I repeat this over and over until I believe what I’m saying. It takes a few minutes, but I gather myself and hold my head up high as I stride back to the bar, shoulders straight, like I didn’t just fall apart in front of my prey. When I turn the corner, I see Casen looking down at his phone typing furiously, and I pray I didn’t lose him. I’ll be pissed if I screwed it all up by letting his good looks and charm suck me in at a vulnerable moment.
