What would you do for love of country?
In a new America where almost no one can be trusted, Caroline Gerard lies unconscious in a government hospital as others decide her fate. She is a political dissident, wanted for questioning by a brutal regime that has come to power. As she recovers from her injuries, all she has are her memories of a rich and beautiful past.
What does it take to heal a broken heart?
As Caroline clings to life her thoughts drift to before the regime, when she was a rising star in the House of Representatives, widowed, and raising two precocious children. She remembers her unexpected attraction to fellow politician and playboy Jack McIntyre. Jack captures her attention with his rakish grin, disarming attitude, and dry wit, and soon their friendship blossoms into much more.
Who can you trust?
Will the doctors charged with her care be able to save Caroline before it's too late? Or will she fall into the hands of those who seek to destroy her?
Told mostly in flashback and set against a chilling fascist backdrop, Dissident is a rollercoaster ride of political intrigue, passionate contemporary romance, and undying love.
The Bellator Saga is a six part series. Each full length novel ends in a cliffhanger. For readers 18+. This saga contains adult situations, including non-gratuitous violence, explicit (consensual) sex, psychological and physical trauma, and an oftentimes dark plot.

I received a complimentary copy in exchange for an honest review.
Um. HELLO new favorite author of mine. What did I just read?! This spellbinding story took me somewhere that I have never been. To a world that I never thought was possible. And I cannot wait to go back.
Ok first, let’s chat about the prologue. THAT is how you start a book! We are immediately immersed into the story where Caroline and Jack must part ways. We don’t know how or why, but what we do know is that these two have so much love for each other. And the idea of them being apart hurts. I felt like I was there in that moment. Making the hardest decision in my life. That set the tone for me. I knew I needed to get deeper into this story.
We are introduced to politician Caroline Gerard, a widower with two small children. She has a blooming career in the House of Representatives. Enter John (Jack) McIntyre, a fellow politician whom Caroline said some not so nice things about. Through an apology and a drink these two start a friendship that becomes more over time. The attraction was always there. As Jack and Caroline spend more time together, these two easily become one of my favorite couples. Their love story is inspiring and beautiful.
This captivating and thrilling story will hold on to you. And not let go. This author is extremely talented. Brilliant. She is a master of words. The story is told in the present as well as a series as flashbacks. The author effortlessly transitions between the two. She is very strategic on how she places these time frame. You are so involved in the story that just when you think you’re getting somewhere, it transitions. Such a talent as I never fault lost or confused by the story. If anything, the transitions intrigued me more. Kept me wanting more.
As the prologue hints, everything in this political world is nothing as it seems. There is danger in this world. And lies. But where does it lurk? And with whom? When the story is told in the present, things start to slowly unfold. But how do Caroline and Jack eventually separate? How does she end up in that government hospital? And what do they want from her? So many questions. So much more to come. And I cannot wait!
I have to admit. I am a lover of romance. So when suspense is thrown in I am weary. Unsure. Do I take this leap? Suspense either works or it doesn’t. It either grabs you or it doesn’t. But this book? You don’t read it. You live the words. Experience the emotions. The suspense and romance has a PERFECT balance. The author puts you in the story. Places you within the hearts of her characters. She engrosses you into this couple and unique world of politics and mischief. And it’s addicting. Every page gets you deeper into the story and yet you still have no idea where it’s going. I was on edge. I clutched my e-reader. I have never experienced a story like this and probably never will.
Dissident was such an unexpected yet intriguing and magical read. I would also like to commend the author for writing such a strong and inspirational heroine. And Jack? My love for you is endless. That’s it. My goal in life is to find a Jack! The synopsis grazes the surface of the story. This is a chilling story of politics and love. And so much more. This author is in a class of her own. Her writing leaves you breathless as you are weaved through the pages of this book. I didn’t know I could love a story like this. Had no idea I needed to read something like this. If you are looking for a thought provoking, captivating read, then look no further. THIS book is it. Goodbye real life. I am about to go into hiding to devour book two.
Cecilia London is my pen name. I am a native Midwesterner who never thought I'd end up in Texas and yet here I am, determined to help Keep San Antonio Lame. I have been known to dabble in the practice of law. I can apply Simpsons quotes to everyday life, and I live for baseball season. I've been writing off and on since I was a kid, but never really thought I’d have any idea that could turn into a single novel, let alone a series. There aren't many books about how dystopias/totalitarian political regimes come into existence, and I wanted to touch upon that topic while still maintaining a primary focus on the epic romance. The Bellator Saga is my first published work.

Only You is a STANDALONE novel in the Second Chances Series.
I spent my life searching for love, but Evan was right there all along. As gorgeous on the inside as he was on the outside, I never had to wonder if he loved me. He showed me with every glance, every sweet touch, every scorching kiss.
I wanted nothing more than to give him my forever—until I found out I may not have one.
Paige was the girl of my dreams. So beautiful in every way; no one would ever compare. I feared she would never be mine, and then she became my everything. I wanted to be with her for the rest of my life.
I wanted her to be my forever. But love may not be enough.
Why do I have to say good-bye to the love of my life? How can I let you go—when it’s always been only you?
PLEASE NOTE: Only You is a Contemporary Romance with intense language and sexual situations meant for readers 18 and up.
Paige has never had much luck with men in her life. She seems to always choose the wrong ones. Until Evan Jacobs. Evan is an old family friend and best friend to her cousin, Jack. He’s back in town to help Jack with his flooring business. Evan has always wanted Paige, but the timing was always off. Until now. As Paige and Evan reignite their friendship, other feelings come to the surface. Sometimes the love you have been searching for has been there all along.
“You’re all mine. I waited long enough for you.”
The love between Paige and Evan blossomed into something beautiful. They have loved before. But never like this. Never this deeply. Someone has never meant this much. You watch two souls awaken over time. Then tragedy strikes and rocks them to their core. Can their relationship survive this? But despite that they both love relentlessly. Wholeheartedly. And even when a truth comes to light, their love is determined to endure and win until Paige makes a decision.
“I don’t remember when she went from the girl of my dreams to the love of my life, but now she was as essential as the air in my lungs and the blood in my veins.”
Evan Jacobs. Every man should strive to be like him. His heart and soul is so pure, so good. He loves through the unthinkable. Through the inevitable. As Paige pushes him away, he loves harder. He pushes harder, for his love knows no boundaries. There is no obstacle his love cannot overcome.
“Does your heartbeat still say Daisy?”
“It’ll say ‘Daisy’ until it stops beating.”
This story also resonated on a deeply personal level for me. The author masterfully crafted her story in a way to allow the reader to feel every single emotion. To experience the struggles that Evan and Paige faced as individuals as well as a couple. To understand their issues, concerns, and the pain these two go through. How choices and decisions, no matter the consequences, are made in the best interest of those we love the most. I loved how real this story felt. The emotions jumped off of the pages. The author truly poured her heart into this and it was felt by every single word of the story. Her poise. Her voice. This story was simply stunning as it was beautiful.
“You’re my heartbeat, my lifeline, my Daisy. You’re all the beauty in my life.”
Only You is an poignant and emotional story about what happens when love is threatened. What happens when you are faced with news that changes everything? You fight for your love. You love harder. As Evan and Paige did. Their story is inspiring. It gives hope. Their love never wavered. Never gave up. What a privilege to read a love story like theirs. I am so excited for what’s to come from this author.

As though my intense and swirling thoughts had pulled Zeb into the vortex of self-pity I was struggling in, my phone vibrated in my hand with a message from him as I wandered aimlessly through the empty rooms.
I shivered at the sight of his name and then silently scolded myself for having such a powerful reaction to only his name on the screen. His message was simple but for some reason it felt full of more meaning and emotion than the three words staring up at me indicated.
Can you talk?
I bit my lip and decided how to answer. I didn’t talk to my clients after office hours were done for the day and I was already having a really hard time keeping the professional and personal lines clear where he and this case were concerned. I sighed and tapped out:
I can. Do you want me to call you?
I had started this process as his friend first and it wasn’t fair to him that my heart was pulling itself apart because of his situation. He was probably nervous and scared about what was coming next week, and I was the only one who could put some of that at ease.
There wasn’t a response for a long couple of minutes and I hated that all I could do was stare at my phone and pace back and forth while I waited to see what he was going to say. I was acting like a teenager and it was ridiculous. I snorted at myself and was headed into the kitchen to pour myself a glass of wine when the phone rang and made me jump. I wasn’t prepared for him to call me right that moment and had a bout of anxiety about answering the call before I told myself to man up and swiped my finger across the screen.
“Hey. Everything all right?” I heard a car honk its horn wherever he was calling from, and he mumbled something that wasn’t directed at me before answering.
Zeb is funny and sexy, not overly alpha, but just right! Given his past stint in prison you'd think women would be a little hesitant to get involved with him. But then again, he made his way there out of protection for his sister. Don't mess with his loved ones!
Sayer has a cold and ridged exterior. But as you read, you'll see all the warmth and adventure she has inside. An inside that Zeb is desperately tying to bring out. Perhaps she's a little scared of the real her. Her life has been so structured at the hands of her father demanding perfection. As time progresses and Zeb's alpha ways start to penetrate her (in more ways than one, teehee), she begins to see the real her and learns to embrace the newfound feelings in her life.
I did think the story was a little wordy and I was hoping for more dialogue between Zeb and Sayer. I also guiltily found myself passing over some of the sexy times, not because they were bad (because they so were not), but because I wanted to see how the story line of Zeb's transition into his new life progressed. Call me impatient, but I really needed to know!
Overall I thought it was a good storyline, not one I was expecting at all from the blurb. But I was pleasantly surprised (by the situation) and felt it gave the characters more heart than just a story of bad pasts coming together and overcoming adversity, which they did of course.
A little lesson can be learnt from this book...Stop trying to be who you think you've always been just to please others and just BE who you are. You'll be happier in the end. It sure worked out well for Sayer. And now Zeb gets to reap the benefits.

“I didn’t do that so I could get something in exchange. You don’t owe me anything. That’s not how this works.”
“How what works?” I asked in a small voice.
I felt shy and unsure and completely exposed. More than even when he was between my thighs, kissing me to oblivion and back again.
"So this is us?" I asked.
“Yeah,” Evan said, cupping my jaw. He swallowed hard. “This is us.”
I felt something break open in me. I wanted to cry. I laughed instead, and threw my arms around his neck, driving us both under the surface. I kissed him and tasted myself on his lips, and his own sweetness before the chlorine water washed it away.
We came up laughing and sputtering, my hair in my eyes. Evan raised both hands and brushed the long, dark locks from my face…and from my scar. I held still, letting him do this, letting him see me, and he smiled.
“You’re so beautiful,” he whispered, and kissed me long and hard, and I sighed into that kiss, into his body, into him. I wasn’t beautiful, not anymore, but it was still nice to hear.
“I know you don’t believe me,” Evan said, his words echoing my thoughts with uncanny precision. “But it’s true.”
I felt myself turn rigid, ready to pull away, but Evan wouldn’t let me. His arms slipped under mine and around my back, drawing me toward him. He raised one hand to my scar, his fingers soft and gentle, and warm over the lightning crack that marred my cheek.
“The Grand Canyon was carved by a river. It sliced through the rock, revealing layer upon layer of beauty, and a depth that couldn’t be seen until it was cut open. One little sliver of water…”
“One little sliver.” He traced the ragged seam down to my chin. “The majesty of the Canyon is that depth; layer upon layer of beauty, buried for years, until the river cut it open, revealing everything.”
I felt tears sting my eyes and pressed my cheek into his hand. “Don’t,” I whispered. “I can’t take it.”
"It's okay, Jo." Evan smiled gently and pulled me to him. “It's okay.”
No, it wasn't okay, but he didn’t fight me or try to force it on me. Years of feeling ugly couldn’t be erased with a few poetic similes. But he was here in my arms and I was in his, and the way he looked at me…I could almost believe what he was saying was true, and that was good enough for me.

ENTER to WIN a KINDLE FIRE!
My story isn’t a love story … not the typical kind anyway.
As a lawyer, I’m used to discovery, but I never saw this one coming.
Every day, River gives me ten reasons to stay away, and then eleven reasons why I can't. Our relationship was to remain strictly business, or at least I tried.
Four years of marriage, and everything with Cole has changed. I never knew two people who lived together could be so distant. But I’m not ready to give up on him.
One man wants to break me.
The other is just trying to get even.
Both are lying to me.
***This is a standalone contemporary romance (though a little unconventional and twisted!)
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
That synopsis. The moment I read it, I knew I needed this book. But. It doesn’t even come close to describing just how much this story etches its way deep within your heart.
“I’d climb until my fingers bled if it meant I’d still have him.”
Marley and Cole Mason, husband and wife attorneys have their own law firm. They have it all. The money, the house, nice cars. But Marley craves so much more from her husband. Time, love, and affection. Her love tank is on empty and while she repeatedly tries to tell this to Cole, he always comes up with excuses. When Cole has to go out of town, he leaves a client in the hands of Marley to deal with. River Holtz. The fire to uproot her life that she never saw coming.
“I don’t see them, Marley.”
I have to be vague in the plot as I refuse to ruin anything for the reader experience. You must throw yourself in this one. Remember that you have not read this story before, and nothing is as it seems. There are twists and turns you never see coming. Your heart goes out to these characters as every emotion in this story feels real. You understand Marley, and what she craves. Her situation is not for the faint at heart. We are thrusted so far deep into her story. The reader is in the middle of her despair, the moment she falls for River, and the obliteration of her heart in the process.
“I hate him. I want him. I loathe him. I need him.”
This story is simply MAGIC. It’s addicting. It’s like the author secretly sprinkled fairy dust on her words to keep the reader wanting more. The writing pulls you in. The author places you within the heart of Marley. You FEEL her love and yearning for her husband, Cole. You know that her heart always belonged to him. That just somehow they lost their way. And River? You FEEL the moment he ignites a spark that died in her heart so long ago. But this is not a typical cheating or love triangle story. I can’t even compare it to anything I’ve read as this book definitely deserves a class of its own.
“To open your heart is to open yourself to heartbreak.”
There are people that may have issues with this story because of certain factors. But despite any reservation you have about this book, READ IT. Books are supposed to push boundaries, make us feel, and remind us just how much love cannot be defined and placed in a box. Love is selfish. It’s also selfless. It’s intoxicating, overwhelming. Love shatters. I love that the author held nothing back. This story is raw and gritty. It’s the truth about love. Love is not hearts and flowers. Love hurts. But love also fulfills.
“He’s a magnet. I’m nickel. He wants me. I need to feel wanted. Days of loneliness, and he’s filled each one.”
Break Even is a powerful story about a woman that aches for the love and adoration of her husband. Marley is strong and self-sufficient. She is not a weak woman who simply falls for another. This is her story and it is so much deeper than that. So who does she finally surrender to? Her husband, Cole, whom her heart never left? Or River, the man that reminded her what it feels to be strongly desired and coveted by a man? You MUST read to find out.
My eyes never leave my guest who’s dressed in a crisp navy blue suit, white shirt with the top two buttons undone, and expensive brown leather belt and shoes—the kind Cole works so hard for. River carries the look with ease.
“I hope I didn’t interrupt,” he says, sauntering toward one of my guest chairs.
He shrugs, relaxing into his seat. “I was bored, and I’ve noticed you like your coffee, so I thought I could buy you a cup. It’s the least I can do since you’re going to have to put up with me all day.”
“Who said you could barge into my office?”
He smirks. Stupid dimple. “Your secretary was missing so I helped myself.” His eyes stare into mine—too long and far too intense. “I didn’t mean to interrupt your phone call with Mr. Mason, by the way.”
“Something tells me you’re not feeling all that guilty.”
“You’re right, but I did learn something about you.” His elbow rests on the arm of the chair, index finger brushing his chiseled jaw.
“What’s that?” I ask, unable to look away.
“You profess love with indifference.”
My mouth falls open before I realize it. I quickly recover, searching for my voice. “What do you know about love?”
“Enough,” he says simply.
In this modern-retelling of "Beauty and the Beast," Savannah Carmichael, betrayed by an unreliable source, returns to her hometown of Danvers, Virginia with her once-promising journalism career in ruins. Given the opportunity to get back in the game by writing a patriotic human interest piece, Savannah turns her attention to the town hermit, Asher Lee, a wounded veteran who returned to Danvers eight years ago, and hasn’t been seen since.
After an IED explosion in Afghanistan took Asher’s hand and disfigured half of his face, he's lived a quiet life on the outskirts of Danvers where the locals respect his privacy…that is, until Savannah Carmichael comes calling in a borrowed sundress with a plate of homemade brownies. When Asher agrees to be interviewed by Savannah, he starts feeling things for the beautiful reporter that he hasn’t felt in years.
Misfits in small-town Danvers, Savannah and Asher create a bond right away, touching each other’s hearts in ways neither thought possible. When a terrible mistake threatens to drive them apart, they’ll have to decide if the love they found in one another’s arms is strong enough to fight for their hard-won happily ever after.
Can I even put into words how beautiful this story was? How it moved me and made me understand love on a level I never knew even existed? I am going to try.
“But his life wasn’t living, and she was a person of the world. She lived in the sunshine, not shrouded in shadows.”
I LOVE Beauty and the Beast modern stories. So I was immediately intrigued when I read the synopsis. But that doesn’t even describe a fraction of this deeply moving story. Savannah Carmichael returns home in the South from NYC to lick her wounds. She has lost her prestigious job as a journalist and is trying to get back on her feet. A chance of a lifetime comes up and she is assigned to write a column for a Lifestyles section of a newspaper. She comes up with the idea to interview the town recluse, Asher Lee.He is a veteran and has also returned home after his injuries in Afghanistan. He lives in solitude, except for his family friend, Miss Potts. He never ventures out, but Savannah believes in his story to be told.
“You terrify me.”
Asher agrees on the interview with certain terms. Once Savannah comes in direct contact with Asher, she gasps. Half of his face is disfigured, and he is missing an arm, due to an IED explosion he encountered in Afghanistan. I love that the author doesn’t make it seem like this is some slight disfigurement. The realness factor of this story is what drew me in. As Savannah gets over the initial shock of seeing him, she realizes that despite everything, he's still all man. His body, his stature, he is still handsome. But broken. Emotionally and physically.
“The problem with hope was that you were required to acknowledge the possibility of not getting what you desperately hoped for.”
The first meeting the walls are up. For the both of them. Asher doesn’t know how to let the walls down, and let others in, while Savannah knows she just has a job to do. But as time goes on, they connect. They both have so much more in common than they ever realized. They fall. Slowly. Irrevocably. In love. When I say this is the most beautiful love story I have ever read, I mean it. It was emotional and passionate. And I cannot wait to read every single thing that this author has written.
“I’ve never felt like this about anyone. Not in my whole life.”
I fell so deeply in love with this story. I can barely put it into words. There are times where I laughed out loud. As their relationship is witty, funny, and their chemistry off the charts. Other times, I could barely make out the words on my kindle as my eyes swam in tears. I was so overwhelmed of the deep-seated and infinite love story.
“I love you. Don’t you know I’d do anything for you?”
Savannah’s heart. Just wow. Her love knows no barriers. Her love overcomes them. Asher is a shattered man. On the inside and the outside. But her love for Asher? It heals. It gives him hope he never knew that could exist for a beautiful soul like him. She never forgets that he doesn’t look like everyone else on the outside, but what difference does that make when he has the most inspiring and captivating heart and soul? That she loves so deeply without regard.
“So deeply bound to my heart, so fiercely bound to my soul, I realized that me without you is impossible.”
Asher Lee loves with a love so deep. He loves Savannah fiercely. Tenderly. Loudly. He protects his love for her. He becomes HER protector. Is there a man who has ever loved as intensely as him? His love for her is eminent. Never ending. He desires and covets Savannah more than any man I have ever read about. I am so privileged to have experienced reading a love like his.
“You’re my miracle, Savannah, and I will always belong to you.”
The Vixen And The Vet reassures the profoundness in love and all it encompasses. All that love can endure. Overcome. It attests to the truth in love that it doesn’t see. It simply feels. As much as their love is beautiful, it is not easy. They face adversity. In their love and their life. Circumstances challenge them. But their love always remains.

Then again, perhaps just like messages existed, fate existed, too. And no matter what life path we choose, fate always has the final say. I didn’t listen but it doesn’t mean I didn’t live. I just lived a different tale than the one I’d envisioned. Away from my home. Away from my family. Away from everything comfortable and familiar. But I wasn’t alone… I was with him. And he became my entire universe.

In this heart-wrenching tale of love and loss, a young Marine and his best friend’s sister plunge into a forbidden love affair while he’s home on leave.
When a Marine Chaplain knocks on her door, Jessa’s heart breaks—someone she loves is dead. Killed in action, but is it Riley or Kit? Her brother or her boyfriend…
Three months earlier, Marine Kit Ryan finds himself back home on leave and dangerously drawn to his best friend Riley’s sister, Jessa—the one girl he can’t have. Exhausted from fighting his feelings, Kit finally gives in, and Jessa isn’t strong enough to resist diving headfirst into a passionate relationship.
But what was just supposed to be a summer romance develops into something far greater than either of them expected. Jessa’s finally found the man of her dreams and Kit’s finally discovered there’s someone he’d sacrifice everything for.
When it’s time for Kit to redeploy, neither one is ready to say goodbye. Jessa vows to wait for him and Kit promises to come home to her. No matter what.
But as Jessa stands waiting for the Marine Chaplain to break her heart, she can’t help but feel that Kit has broken his promise…
Riley or Kit? Kit or Riley? Her brother or her boyfriend? Who’s coming home to her?
I glance over my shoulder automatically, half expecting to see my dad taking aim from the back porch. ‘You know if he finds you out here he’s going to kill you.’
‘I'll take the chance,’ Kit says, shifting ever so slightly and drawing me closer so only a sliver of space remains between us. I barely come up to his chin so I’m having to tilt my head all the way back. This close I can smell his scent – laundry powder and something else, something citrus, aftershave maybe.
‘I just had to see you again,’ he murmurs, his voice as soft as a caress.
I pull back an inch, my heart galloping. I’m scared. Not of Kit, but of what’s about to happen between us. It feels like I’m about to take a step off a cliff and into a void and I have no idea whether I’ll land safely or end up smashed to pieces on some jagged rocks I can’t yet see. This could be reckless, stupid, dangerous. Or it could be the best thing I ever do. ‘I'm serious,' I mumble. 'If my dad finds you out here, he'll go ballistic.'
Kit smiles. He lifts his hand and strokes a strand of hair back behind my ear. ‘It would be worth it,’ he says, his hand lingering, moving to rest against my cheek.
‘What would?’ I ask, my senses obliterated, all my focus on his hand and on his lips, so close to mine.
‘This,’ he says, and he kisses me.
