To Samantha Christensen, Lucas Hunter was always the guy—the sexy, smart and unattainable man she pined for throughout college. To Lucas, she was a treasured friend, a younger sister he felt the need to protect. She had a choice—to wait and hope, or to settle.
When they meet again years later, Lucas looks at Samantha and sees a woman he wants—even though she’s not free to take. As they renew their friendship he finds he’s falling hard, and can’t accept any less than all of her.
Samantha realizes there’s hope with Lucas. Will she finally have a chance to be happy with the man she’s always loved, or will obligations and insecurities stand in their way?
Can Samantha and Lucas convince each other that they belong together? That it was Always You?
Always You is the first novel in the Second Chances series. Each novel will be an interconnected standalone about second chances at love. Due to sexual situations, its recommended for readers 18 and up.
This book. Let me count the ways how I loved it. My heart is so FULL after reading this story. The writing was engaging and I was instantly connected to the story the moment I started. I have definitely found a new favorite author.
“I remember a lot. Lucas Hunter’s notice Samantha O’Rourke’s, but sometimes they mess up and let them go.”
Lucas Hunter. He has always seemed unattainable to Samantha Christensen. He’s intelligent, a great person, and devastatingly handsome. And he can never belong to Sam. She’s forever stuck in the friend zone. Her attraction to him goes unnoticed, so she always tends to fade into the background and remains his friend. When Lucas gets an opportunity to leave the state for his career, he takes it. Leaving Sam to always wonder what if.
“I belong to you, I always have.”
Years later, Sam and Lucas reconnect. The moment they lay their eyes on each other its as if they are the only ones in the room. But Sam has moved on. She has a family. But her loveless relationship has her heart wanting more. They begin spending time with each other like old times. Rekindling their friendship. As time goes on, they both realize that there’s something there. But Sam does not belong to Lucas.
“Thank you for making me feel alive, and happier than I have ever been in my entire life.”
For those who are scared of cheating, this is not exactly that kind of book. Sam realizes that that part of her life died a long time ago. And that she’s never felt anything in years, until Lucas came around. He ignited her soul. He consumes her. He makes her heart beat. Lucas loves her fiercely. His love is unyielding. Never ending. He loves Sam beyond reason. It was always her. He just could never admit it to himself. He never understood love until he realized the depth of his love for Sam. He loves her beyond her circumstances. And Sam? She never truly gave her heart away because it belonged to Lucas. Always.
“I thought about having to live without you and I didn’t know how to breathe.”
I love the realism of this story. The author brilliantly executed a story on the truth about second chance romances. She sheds light on not only the good, but also the not so good parts. Insecurities. Love and all it encompasses and all that it is capable of. How people grow in love. That sometimes love can be messy, but the louder you love, like Sam and Lucas, love prevails. There are some unexpected twists and turns as with life, but these obstacles don’t take away from the story. It adds to them. The author truly allows the reader to become embedded within the pages of the story.
“Sam owned me. Body and soul.”
Always You is such a beautiful and heart felt read. The romance in this story was everything my heart desired. These two were so passionate about their love and feelings for each other. This story reminds you that love not only overcomes all things, but love saves.
Stephanie is the author of the Second Chances series, stories based in New York City about second chances at love. She lives in the Bronx, New York with her superhero-obsessed husband and son.
Her day job is marketing, but she always has a story in her head. This lifelong New Yorker lives for Starbucks, book boyfriends, and 80s rock. Her voice often gets mistaken for a mob wives trailer.
After spending most of her youth watching soaps, Stephanie has an obsession with angsty drama and steamy romance.
She's excited to finally bring the characters she's been dreaming about to life!
