He found me in blood and tears.
I stayed with him through darkness and fire.
We loved each other in the moment between innocence and bitter truth.
We were the kids easily ignored, who grew into adults we hardly knew.
We weren’t meant to last forever. And we didn’t.
He ran away.
I tried to move on.
Yet I never stopped thinking about the boy who had fought to keep me alive in a world that would have swallowed me whole. He was the past that I buried, but never forgot.
Until the day I found him again, years after believing I had lost him forever.
And in cold, resentful eyes, I saw the heart of the man who had been everything when I had nothing at all. So I vowed to hold onto the second chance that was stolen from the children we had been.
Sometimes fate is ugly. Life can be twisted.
And who we are can be ruined by who we once were.
For two people who had survived so much, we would have to learn how to hold on before we were forced to let go.

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I literally just finished this book. My heart is racing. Pounding. I don’t think I’ve ever been so overwhelmed with emotion before. At least not by any book. The synopsis drew me in. I needed this story. But you have NO idea of the depth of this book. None. Not until you read it from beginning to end. This story will stay in my heart for a long time to come.
“He found me when the sky was bleeding.”
Yossarian Frazier (Yoss) meets Imogen Connor (Imi) in a dark place. He saves her one day, not realizing that it is she that ultimately saves him where they forced to survive. Not surviving isn't an option if they want to live. They develop a friendship, but over time it becomes more. But love. How can you give it if you’ve never received it? Never felt it. Somehow love found it’s way in their hearts. And it wanted to stay. Devastating circumstances pull them apart. The darkness overwhelms them and they become lost.
“My Yoss...he had become my happy life. Even when things were ugly. Later he became my broken heart.”
Fifteen years later circumstances bring Yoss and Imi back together. Fate allows them to cross paths again. But so much has changed. The darkness that consumed their loves still hover over them, but in such different ways. The moment Imi recognizes Yoss, time just stops. You are in that moment with her. You feel her heart racing. Her love for this man coming to the surface. For her love for him was always there. It never left. Always a part of her. The moment Yoss sets his eyes on Imi, you feel his pain. Guilt, despair. Shame. But in his eyes, Imi only saw the only person that she has loved most of her life.
“He loved openly. He despaired loudly. He raged forcefully.”
How do I even put into words what this book meant to me? If there is any book that will challenge you on love and all that it endures, it is this book! It moved me. I’ve never felt broken and so loved at the same time. This book grabs you and never lets you go. It embeds itself within your heart because that is where the author leaves her characters. I am vague on the plot as you do not want anything spoiling this for you. This book? It’s DEEP. It goes where love wasn’t meant to go. These two broken and flawed individuals face such adversity and tragedy that no one should have to endure. But their love? Their love prevails. It triumphs. Their love challenges. It’s beautiful. Pure. And in even in their dark and tragic world, their love remained.
“It feels like I’m falling, Imi.”
“I’ll catch you.”
Yoss. Despite his circumstances, he is all the beauty in this world. My heart BROKE for him. I fell in love with him the moment he saved Imi. I cried for him. My heart was drawn to him. To know him is to love him. And that his how Imi fell so unequivocally in love with his heart. His soul. Regardless of the darkness that raged inside of him, he loved fiercely. He loved loudly. He loved through his silence with Imi. He loved through his guilt. Through his pain. His love for Imi awe inspiring. For someone like him to love as deeply as he did truly attests to all that love can endure.
“Ive never been kissed before. Not like that.”
“What do you mean?”
“Like I don’t ever want to stop.”
The writing is flawless as the author transitions between past and present. The author allows the reader to truly understand the depth of the relationship between Yoss and Imi. Their story is never told, it unravels for the reader as you comprehend just how much they meant to each other. How much their love endured, conquered, saved. I don’t think I have ever been this emotional over a book in a long time. Talk about ANGST. And FEELS. This book was never lacking in those departments. I was emotionally overwhelmed in the best way ever. The author masterfully allows the reader to live inside of the book with her characters. You live each moment through them. You love with them, you cry with them, and you feel their pain.
“Like heartbeats and sunsets.
Happy endings and old movies.
This is what Yoss and I were made of.”
One Day Soon is a beautiful, heartbreaking, emotional story. It’s dark, gritty, and it’s so HONEST. I think that’s what hurts the most. The author never holds anything back. She shows us the ugliness in the darkness, but she also shows the beauty in light. This book was gripping and left me breathless. This riveting and compelling story is life changing. LIFE CHANGING. This book will push you. You will question love and all it encompasses. Can love even overcome this? Can Yoss and Imi get their one day soon? This is a love story like no other. Powerful and raw, this story about sacrifice, love, and darkness will stay with me forever.
“You feel that?”
“I think that’s me getting unstuck.”
Three book besties who love to read and discuss books. We are addicted to all kinds of romance with Alpha Hero's, Kick-ass Heroine's and plenty of angst.
