*Thanks to Karina Halle for providing me with an ARC of Love, in Spanish!
After reading Love, in English I was left with the need of reading Mateo's point of view. Love, in English was definitely one of the best books I have read this year, but I NEEDED to get inside Mateo's head! I may have done a happy dance when my dear Karina Halle announce that she was writing a second book and it was going to be all in Mateo's point of view.
Love, in Spanish is NOT a retelling of the first book. Yes, we do get a sense of what Mateo was thinking in key scenes from the first book, but it is done in a way where it did not drag and it felt like fresh information. This book was a whole new story with the characters we grew to love in the beginning of this year. **IF YOU HAVE NOT READ LOVE, IN ENGLISH, DO SO BEFORE READING THIS REVIEW (AND BECAUSE IT IS FANTABULOUS!!!)
Mateo and Vera got their happily after and are now living in a small apartment in Spain, but not everything is as perfect as we all hoped it would be at this point. New obstacles in the form of the Vera's job, paparazzi, and Mateo's ex get in the way disturbing the peace that they had worked so hard for. But no worries! Their love is stronger than all of that combined and they will fight to stay together despite all the things that get in their way.
I fell in LOVE with Mateo even more in this book. Having a first-hand view of what he is thinking at all times was the blueberry (I hate cherries) of an already delicious ice cream sundae. His love and passion for Vera is physically felt page after emotional page. Seeing him through Vera's eyes was one thing, but actually feeling every happy, sad, and sexy thought, was indescribable.
Overall, I really enjoyed Love, in Spanish. It was full of the raw emotion Karina always gives us and incredibly relatable characters. I cannot wait to read what she has releasing next!!!!
