I read book one a while ago and I liked it so I gave book two a chance even though it is a different couple from the first. Characters that, to tell you the truth, I could not for the life of me remember them in book one, but nonetheless I liked it.
Jessica Sweet tells her parents that she will be doing some mission work during which is why she won't be able to go home. The reality is that she doesn't want to go home and go back to hiding who she is to please her parents. She has to stay with Riley for little while until she can go to the room she is renting for the summer. Jessica and Riley are not friends to begin with; they pretty much dislike each other.
I enjoyed the banter between the two of them and at times I found myself chuckling. Jessica is trying to be herself and be free from her parents expectations, but this is all behind their backs. She's afraid that if she stands up to them, they will cut her off and she has no way to pay for school without their help. Riley was who stood out to me in the whole story. At first I thought he was going to be the typical bad boys with tattoos, but I was completely wrong. He's fighting to have custody of his little brother and family comes first to him.
It did feel like the story was rushed at times and the end could have been a little longer. I did like how the characters, especially Jessica, grew throughout the book. Both Riley and Jessica pissed me off more than once, but I was glad that they found a way to work things out.
Overall, I like this book. It had some humor at times and I really enjoyed the banter. Book three sounds interesting so I will definitely give it a shot.
