"I lost any sense of anxiety over the night and knew we would forever be the fevered combination of Bennett and Chloe. Mr. Ryan and Miss Mills. Mr. Mills and Mrs. Ryan. Husband and wife. Bastard and bitch."
The day had finally arrived when Bennett and Chloe made their union official. And how I loved being back in their world. One of the reasons I love this series is because I find it genuinely funny. I laugh aloud at the capers and banter between Chloe, Bennett, and the rest of the gang.
Chloe and Bennett were at their best, even though they were taking a serious step in their relationship, their stubborn personalities didn't waver and I loved the insults they threw at each other with hilarious results.
"Damn that man and his goddamn sexy wink. My anger dissipated somewhat and in its place came a flare of desire. He was ignoring me, being a patronizing ass. I was being a bitch. It was the perfect setup for me to have many, many orgasms."
“I suppose until my fiancée stops being a teasing bitch or my dick learns to suck itself, I may as well have a bite to eat.”
“We’re here. And there isn’t a chance in hell I’d miss seeing you walk down that aisle. I’ve fought way too fucking hard for you.” “Knock it off, Bennett. You’re a lot easier to deal with when you’re being a dick.” “And I put up with way too much of your shit,”
In the lead up to the wedding, Bennett has the great idea to become celibate, thinking he and Chloe will appreciate it more when they have their wedding night. Oh poor Bennett, he was punishing himself the most. Chloe wasn't making it easy for him and even Max was giving him hell for his harebrained idea.
“I threw down this gauntlet, I have to follow through. This is Chloe we are talking about. She already has her fist curled tightly around one of my testicles, at least let me keep the other one! If I fuck her before Saturday night she’s going to think she owns both balls and can wear them as fucking charms on a bracelet."
Of course, hilarity ensues and any drama that can go wrong before a wedding does. Just picture Bennett chasing a wedding dress down a highway! It was a great fun ending to the series. I loved reading about Max and Sara and of course Will and Hanna were there and their own storyline was sweet. We have many open plot lines with them and I do wonder if we will ever find out the fate of the couples. I sure hope so!
I have a favourite line from Beautiful Bastard (probably of the full series) and I absolutely loved the symbolism of their relationship coming full circle. Where Bennett planned their wedding night was just perfect. *sigh*
“We never did lose what we found in this room,” he said, bending now and kissing my shoulder. “In fact, we turned it into the happiest hate-love of all time.”
My favourite thing about this book was the connection between Chloe and Bennett, I was reminded of the attributes that made me love them in book one. Kudos to the authors for keeping that essence all the way to the end. This is a great set of books and certainly one to go in my favourites collection.
I say it with every Christina Lauren review, but I really do love their writing. They are one of my favourite authors and I can't wait for whatever comes next. We got a sneak peek of Sweet Filthy Boy at the end of Beautiful Beginning and I just can't wait!
I can't recommend this series enough, if you love great writing, lots of laughs and hot sex then you need to buy all 6 today!
"I was getting married tomorrow. To Bennett Ryan. To the man who’d anger-fucked me into loving him."
“Tonight,” he growled, returning to my neck. “Tonight I’m going to consummate this marriage so fucking hard you’re going to walk with a limp on that beach in Fiji.”
"I’d been my best and worst self with this man, and he only loved me more the more real I was with him. No place was safer for me than with Bennett."
“If you put your tongue in my mouth again, I’m leaving this fucking wedding and taking you to bed, Mrs. Ryan.” “Well, I’ll then keep it chaste, Mr. Mills. Because I want cake.”
