This novella was released after Beautiful Stranger to be read in that order due to a potential BS spoiler so I had in my mind that we would have new Bennett and Chloe plot as it followed on from BS. The book may have been released after BS but the period of time in the story covered events in between Beautiful Bastard and Beautiful Stranger (are you still with me?) So it was a visit of the in between that we didn’t get to see.
So Bennett and Chloe have settled into their relationship but with that comes work commitments and business meetings. In turn it doesn’t make for a lot of sexy time. So Bennett takes matters into his own hands and decides he and Chloe need to escape for some quality time on their own. Even trying to arrange a getaway proves too much for the couple as Chloe’s travel plans keep her from Bennett but not for long as the couple are reunited at last in beautiful France.
This was a short and sweet novella that captured the special event we didn’t get to witness in Beautiful Stranger. I loved seeing Bennett and Chloe recapture the chemistry that made us crazy about them in book one. Even though there were a few dramas here and there, this short story was pretty much angst free and I can live with that.
So the same magic was present as always, Christina and Lauren can write great characters and I was reminded on each and every page why I fell in love with Bennett and Chloe in the first place. Yes they seemed less wild and perhaps a bit more sensible than when we first met them in Beautiful Bastard, but maybe that’s the calm before the storm, we do have some bachelor and bachelorette parties coming up
It is a worthy addition to the series, anything that contains more Bennett always is. So if you are a fan of this series or have been undecided I think you should definitely give it a try!
