*I received a copy in exchange for an honest review.*
I must admit I was hesitant about reading Blurred; it’s safe to say Ben was the bad guy in my mind and I wasn’t all too sure I wanted to hear his side of the story. So imagine my surprise by the end of this novella, I not only kinda liked Ben but also I was left wanting more from him and Bell. Therefore, credit where credit is due and I say that’s a job well done from Ms. Karr.
Blurred bridges the gap between Torn and Ben’s full novel Frayed, Ben has returned from his self-imposed exile and he soon finds out it’s not so easy just to pick up the pieces of his life. He also struggles with knowing Dahlia is no longer his and she is stronger and thriving in her relationship with River. I believe this is the point my heart began to soften a little towards Ben, I finally got inside his head and relived the moment his life fell apart. This unfortunately meant I could no longer paint him as the villain but I’ve since learned I don’t mind this as much.
Bell made an appearance and it was glaringly obvious their chemistry from long ago was not a one-night thing. They both knew there was something between them still, and as Ben slowly gets his life back on track he knows now is the time to explore what still remains between him and Bell.
I felt Blurred could been seen as a filler novella. Although I did get a lot from Ben’s past I did wonder if the same could not have been placed at the beginning of his full story. With that being said, I enjoyed reading about Ben, seeing him come to terms with is actions and trying to rebuild his life.
As with the previous books, Kim Karr’s writing is so easy to follow. I enjoy the world in which she has built and I love getting to know each character better. Not only has my opinion of Ben changed but also now, I’m desperate to read more about him and Bell.
For fans of the series, Blurred is a great taster to tide you over until Frayed is released.
