“I have fought my life to control my mood swings. I have fought for my health, for the hell of it, and to vent…I have fought to prove myself to my parents when they didn’t care. I have fought to prove to myself I’m strong. But now I fight to prove myself to her. And I’m taking this one home.”

Finally the time has arrived for us to get inside Remy’s head. Remy has been a man of few words up until this point, his actions did the talking for him but I was desperate to see the world through his eyes, the black and the blue. All of Remy.
Remy starts off in the present day so there are spoilers and Real and Mine need to be read in order. It then flips to the past and we witness the first time Remy laid eyes on Brooke and from that moment on, his world was never the same again. I was pleased as I began to read that it didn’t feel like a repetition of Mine and Real, some of the scenes I had forgotten or they just looked fresh coming from Remy’s perspective. My favourite being when he was holding off from taking Brooke, from her POV she felt frustrated and as if Remy was teasing her but I loved reading Remy’s inner thoughts. He was terrified of letting Brooke in. He really believed as soon as she knew the ‘real’ him that she would leave. My heart melted for him at this point. “What will it be like if I make her mine? I don’t delude myself into thinking that she will accept me, but what if she does? What if she can understand me? The way I am? The two parts of me? No. Not two parts. Every. Single. Fucking. Part. Of me.”
Through Remy’s eyes we were able to see just how much he felt for Brooke, he loved her almost immediately and said it often in his thoughts but he was too guarded and used his music to convey those words until they were both brave enough to say them. Towards the end of the book I did start to feel like it was a retelling of what we already knew and I wasn’t gaining much from Remy’s POV. However, it was great to see the desperate need and want wasn’t only on Brooke’s side. Remy was crazy over this woman and every thought was consumed by her.
Overall Remy was a good recap of Real and Mine. 75% of the book covered Real with the last quarter covering Mine. We got to see just how obsessed with Brooke Remy was. He was a primate, Brooke was his woman and he proved time and time again that he would go to any length to protect her. Now Remy is a sex God there is no denying that and boy did he think about it 24/7. But he’s male so we can’t really blame him but at this part in the story when we were just stuck on thinking about Brooke and all the ways Remy could have her, I really wanted to get deeper into his psyche. I wish we gleaned some new information. This was Remy’s time to take us into his head, I would have loved to have known more about his condition, the way he seen it and what it was like for him growing up, these things were mentioned but not in any great depth. I actually wish we got some more of the events that happened in Mine. I really wanted to see Remy’s ‘big episode’ through his eyes. He had a huge decision to make in terms of his treatment and his future and we missed out on that completely, I”m sure that particular scene in his POV would have floored me.
The writing, as ever, was great, it is so easy to fall back into this world and spend time with the characters we know and love. There were tiny slices of the present day sandwiched in between the flashbacks but I was greedy for more present Remy and the new role he had taken on. I wanted a great big epilogue with a look into the future but the series isn’t over so I’m hoping we still have more to come from this couple.
My favourite part of the story was to witness Remy finding happiness and some sort of peace. He still found it hard to believe a guy like him could achieve so much. After three books I have a lot of love for this man and I’m so glad to see him in a happy place. “I love her so much. She’s given me love in ways no one in my life ever has. I had never known someone could love me until she loved me.”
If you love the Real series then you will fall in love with Remy all over again after experiencing this intense primal love story through his eyes.
“There are things you’re certain about. That you’d bet your life on. Things that you just know. You know the heat of a fire will burn you. Water will quench your thirst. She is one of those things; the most unerring certainty of my life.”
“When I take you, baby, I’m taking it all. I’m taking every fucking breath, every inch of your skin. Every. Beat. Of your heart.”
“I’m so fucking in love with her I don’t think anybody could ever hurt me like this girl could.”
“Mine. If I’d even known she existed before, I would have hunted her. I would have caught and conquered her.”
“My lungs empty in a whoosh. Fuck me, look at her. Only Brooke does this to me. The noise inside me stills and I feel whole and content, at peace, the instant my eyes lock on hers.”
