*I received a copy in exchange for an honest review.*
Brighton Walsh captured my interest with Caged in Winter, I loved her writing and the characters she created. I had already fallen in love with Tessa and Hayley who were supporting characters and couldn’t wait for Tessa to find her own HEA.
Tessa is feeling the pressure of being a true single parent now that her brother has moved out to pursue his dreams. It’s only then Tessa realises how much she relied on Cade and his support. In his absence, his best friend Jason steps up to the plate and helps Tessa whenever he can but that doesn’t help his changing feelings for Tessa and Tessa is caught off guard with some new feelings of her own for Jason.
I really liked this story. It was a feel good romance and had the added sweetness of four-year-old Hayley. I must have read this book with a permanent grin on my face. I liked the change in both Tessa and Jason. Tessa doubted her ability as a parent but with Jason’s support, she finally got into a routine and gave her all to Hayley while carving out some time for herself too.
Jason was the playboy; he pandered to his parents’ will and followed their dreams instead of his own. It wasn’t until Tessa and Hayley meant more to him than his unloving parents did he realise what was in front of him all along.
“I want to give Tessa what no one’s given her before. I want to give her what I’ve never given anyone before. Connection without an expiration date.”
The same magic that I felt in book one was present in Tessa’s story. I felt for her and Haley and throughout the book, I was hoping Jason wouldn’t screw up (too much) and give the girls the life they deserved.
Tessa Ever After is a sweet, sexy new adult read and definitely one to check out.
