*I received a copy in exchange for an honest review.*
I’m still riding on a serialised novella high, I’ve struck it lucky and have been fortunate to read several great ones back to back. I’m glad The Seduction didn’t break the trend. This was quick, sexy and mysterious. I devoured it in just over an hour and now I (not so) patiently wait for the next instalment.
Vaughn is no hearts and flowers kinda guy, he’s the predator and philandering women are his prey. He’s hired to sleep with women, collect the evidence for the rich hubby waiting at home and Vaughn laughs all the way to the bank. But of course, there is always one, the one mark that never comes easy, pardon the pun ;) and Keely is that one for Vaughn. She’s his newest target, for reasons unbeknownst to him. But Keely saying no is like red to a bull and it becomes personal to Vaughn, he must have her, assignment or not.
There is no denying Vaughn is a dirty talker; he has the shock factor down pat. And try as she might, Keely did put up a good fight but resistance was futile and she gave in to his dirty, dirty mouth.
“Have dinner with me, tonight,” he says. “I promise, you’ll be too busy coming all over my tongue to care about losing the bet.”
“I’m going to gorge on you, sweetheart.” Vaughn leans in, his breath hot on my cheek, his eyes glittering, dark and full of wicked promise.”
Now erotic novellas have to have more that sexy times in abundance for me to love them and in this case, it was the mystery surrounding Keely that had me intrigued. I wanted to know why she was being set up, what did this random old client meant to her and above all, I needed to know how Vaughn became linked to it all.
The Seduction was a great quick read, it entertained me from start to finish and left me wanting more. The premise was different, a twist to the usual honey trap and Vaughn was well suited to the job. I really liked Keely as a character. She tried her best to stay away from Vaughn but when she let him in, the outcome was inevitable.
“As I shatter, ecstasy flooding every cell in my body and robbing me of all thought, all power, all words. I’m done. Broken. His.”
Roxy Sloane’s writing was easy to read, it was witty, sexy and intriguing. I can’t wait for the mystery to unravel in part two! You need to #1click this now!
