Three of Hearts was a sweet adult contemporary romance. Mae has just moved to Hamden, looking for a fresh start. She lands on her feet when she finds a beautiful apartment to rent; it shares ground with Seth Finn’s house he shares with his three children. Mae plans to start her new job and keep her head down, that’s if she can resist her handsome new neighbour/landlord.
Seth is too busy for love. He’s been closed off and has spent the last few years making his kids his number one priority. After his sister finagles Mae’s occupancy of the apartment, Seth soon decides it may be about time he starts to experience life and love again.
Things happened really fast and with Mae living in the apartment attached to the house, it was inevitable for their relationship to progress quickly. Their romance was sweet and it was great to see Mae being accepted by Seth’s kids and for Seth to slowly open his heart to the possibility of love.
This was my first book by W. Ferraro, it was written in third person narrative and although it isn’t my favourite, I was able to enjoy the story. There were plenty of romantic passages and swoony dialogue.
“The man I saw with you earlier, was a man with a very large heart to give. You’d be a fool to think there was nothing before you. But you’d be a bigger fool , if you gave up what could be in front of you.”
“You are not a replacement in any way; you are your own person and what I feel for you, is yours and wholly yours.”
I did guess early on, what the climax was going to involve and to me it wasn’t really a big issue, I had been expecting more. With that being said, it did add to the close-knit family feel to the book.
Three of Hearts is a good debut novel from W. Ferraro. It wasn’t an edgy, keep you guessing read but it was a sweet love story about moving on and second chances. Seth also made a great Alpha male so you should check this one out for yourself.
I live in New England with my young family. I’m a stay at home mom to two very active children. For all of you who are familiar with the stress of this job, I decided to complete an item on my bucket list and write a book. When I’m not writing, you will find me cooking, reading, shopping or being silly with the kids. In my opinion, one of life’s greatest pleasure is being able to get lost in a book.
I wish you all happy reading and hope you fall in love with the men of Hamden.
