I loved book one, Crave so I was eager for the next instalment of this series and couldn’t wait to get up close and personal with Gage. Gage seen the way his best friend Archer went all goo goo over Gage’s sister Ivy and he was determined that would not be him, Gage would be an eternal bachelor but little did he know Marina Knight would have him questioning his own beliefs.
Marina had Gage’s cards marked from day one, she knew who he was and he had his sights set on buying up every last bit of property Marina’s family was struggling to hold on to. To say Marina and Gage got off on the wrong foot is an understatement, the sparks flew between them with both Gage and Marina fighting to keep the upper hand. I think the banter between Gage and Marina was to create undeniable sexual tension between the two, this fell a little short for me, I didn’t always get the vibe that they wanted each other, many times when they argued I just got the feeling of plain dislike.
With that being said, Gage was a smooth talker, yes his feelings changed for Marina very quickly and with this being a shorter book, their relationship did move at such a fast pace. Marina was a strong girl with a good business head on her. The story focused on her family bakery and Gage’s takeover plans. I don’t know if it was because the story didn’t have the background of Crave and the alluring club that Archer had, or perhaps because Gage wasn’t as smooth as Archer, I’m not sure I just know know it lacked that fun, sexy appeal that I loved in book one.
I did love Archer and Ivy’s presence and the fact we got to see their story progress too. I really can’t wait to read Matt’s book next!
As always I love Monica Murphy and her books, Torn was different than what I had expected but there were still plenty of sexy times, a little drama and a sweet ending. I would recommend you check this one out today!
