I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Why have I never read anything from this author before?! Where has she been hiding? It is because of author's like her why I enjoy reading and reviewing. I had THE best time reading this story. Theirs to Play is sexy, exciting and addicting! I enjoyed this entire book from beginning to end. I only put it down once to sleep and then I picked it back up again when I woke up the next morning. I just had to find out what happens next. So ummm Kenya I am pretty much adding you to the 'buy any romance she writes shelf'.
European brothers, Frederick (Freddy) and Max are rich beyond reason. Their rich lifestyle is attributed to their billionaire father. So they spend their money, a lot of it. What else comes with money? Women. To keep them occupied they play these games with women. They compete for a woman's affection with use of seduction. They allow these women to fall in love with them and then they break their hearts. Once she sleeps with one of them, that brother wins. One day in Miami they meet first year law school student Dawn. They quickly learn that Dawn is a few steps ahead in their game. As they fall for her, they realize they're the ones that may get played.
Max and Freddy typically do not get their feelings inlvoved when their head is in the game. However, as they "date" Dawn, their true selves come out. All their ugly, conniving, self-righteous behavior comes to light and for the first time this actually bothers them. Max and Freddy become vulnerable and their feelings are exposed. I loved these brothers! Not only are they hot and sexy, but they are so much more than what's at the surface. Dawn is an amazing heroine and she doesn't take crap from anyone, not even Max and Freddy who believe they can buy their way through anything.
I was absolutely captivated but Theirs to Play. There is so much more to this story and I do not want to give it away. It is so beyond the usual billionaire tries to get girl story. SO much more! There is humor, romance, and holy hotness! Max and Freddy are so good at being seductive. Although brothers they have totally different styles and I loved getting to know them. One of my favorite things about this book was the three point of views. Yes THREE! This authors style of writing and flowed nicely. I was able to truly connect to each character as we were given an inside into their minds. Oh and I am definitely #teamFreddy! Sigh.
Overall I found this to be such a refreshing read. It is so different than what is out there in that there in that the characters seem so genuine and authentic. As I said before the writing takes a hold of you and does not let you go. Yes, there's a bit of a cliffhanger, but it is SO worth it! So glad I know about this author and I am looking forward to more of her work.
She rubbed her hands together. “So I’m your game for tonight?”
“No, Dawn.” Hunger laced my brother's Freddy’s voice. It was the subtle change in his tone that happened right before he decided to take a woman to his bed. “You’re the game for this summer.”
Her expression didn’t break, never faltered or changed. She leaned in closer to him and licked her lips. I could’ve sworn I heard Freddy growl or maybe I’d done it myself. Her confidence did something to me, it lassoed my senses in, made me want to touch my dick and do nasty things.
“If you think you can last the whole summer with me involved in your little game, then you’re not as smart as I thought. Are you Freddy?” She moved in closer. Her breast hovered beautifully over the table. Her face was half a foot from his.
Freddy gripped the table so hard; I could see the whites forming around his fingertips. “You like saying my nickname don’t you?”
“Get used to it, you’ll be moaning it soon.”
“Hmm. You’ll have to earn a moan from me, sweet Freddy. You’re not the first rich guy I’ve met and you won’t be the last.” She sat back in her seat.
Kenya Wright always knew she would be famous since the ripe old age of six when she sang the Michael Jackson thriller song in her bathroom mirror. She has tried her hand at many things from enlisting in the Navy for six years as a Persian-Farsi linguist to being a nude model at an art university.
However, writing has been the only constant love in her life. Will she succeed? Of course.
For she has been coined The Urban Fantasy Queen, the Super Iconic Writer of this Age, The Lyrical Genius of Our Generation. Granted, these are all terms coined by her, within the private walls of her bathroom as she still sings the Michael Jackson thriller song.
Kenya Wright currently resides in Miami with her three amazing, overactive children, a supportive, gorgeous husband, and three cool black cats that refuse to stop sleeping on Kenya’s head at night.
