I literally cried through the last 20% of Art & Soul. Not because of sadness. It’s not that kind of book. But I was SO overwhelmed with emotions. This book touched me on a level that I never anticipated. It did more than made me feel. It moved it’s way into my heart. It left me breathless.
“Was Levi Myers real? Did he really exist? Or did my sad, black heart create him because it longed for a little bit of color?”
Aria Watson is invisible to those around her. She simple coaxes through life unnoticed. Until a decision changes that. But even then, people don’t see her. But the new boy in town Levi Myers? He sees her. He sees through her. Ari isn’t used to this and pushes him away. Her world is black and white. She has no room for color. Until she finds that she does.
“You’re nothing but a dream. And I’m not the guy who gets to dream. I only get the nightmares.”
On the outside, Levi is put together. He smiles and girls want to be with him, while the guys want to be him. But on the inside, Levi is lost and broken. Life has thrown a lot his way and his spirit is shattered. He recognizes his broken self in Aria. He is drawn to her. You feel the moment his soul recognizes hers. And that maybe. Just maybe, her soul can heal his.
“You can be sad with me. You don’t have to hide it anymore.”
Art & Soul has so many layers. While I am being very vague in the plot, there is a reason. You must go into this story with an open heart as this book will fill your heart and spirit. The connection between Aria and Levi is undeniable. And you understand Levi’s need to get to know Aria. Despite her circumstances, she demonstrated such strength. He saw through the darkness. He sees HER. For everything she is. Through the brokenness. He sees HER.
“I see you, Levi Myers. And I’m lonely too.”
The friendship between Aria and Levi slowly develops into something more. You don’t watch these two fall in love. You FEEL them irrevocably fall for each other. Their love shattered every obstacle life put in their way. They both lived in brokenness, but their love made them whole. They loved through it all. Levi Myers? You have the most beautiful soul I’ve ever met in any male character ever. His soul is so pure. His heart? It’s so good. He will make you truly look into yourself as a person. He is compassionate and we need more people in this cruel world like him.
“But Aria? She made sense in a senseless world. She was the rainbow to my everlasting thunderstorms.”
Through the happy façade, Aria sees the real Levi. She also recognizes her own broken spirit within him. She sees him through his shattered heart. She wants nothing more than to slowly put him back together. But her life at the moment does not allow her to do so. For life isn’t fair. But even in an unfair life, love trumps all. We all make mistakes but we are worthy of love. We deserve to love and be loved. And Aria? She loves Levi deeply. Wholeheartedly. With her entire soul.
“But his heartbeats? I felt sure I would always feel those against my own.”
Let’s talk about the writing in Art & Soul. It’s mesmerizing, brilliant, and every single word was put in this story to give it depth and meaning. This story is deep. It will bring out emotions you never expected. The author breathes life into her characters. They are not one dimensional. Pardon my use of the word, but these characters have soul. Every character will touch you.
“But my heart...my heart believed in a quiet simple kind of love. A kind of love that was bigger than any limitations the word placed upon us. It was the type of love that had no age limits, no boundaries...”
Art & Soul truly gives a VOICE to every single person that ever thought they were insignificant. That they didn’t matter. It’s for any person that does not think their small existence makes a big difference. But it does. This story attests to that. Your existence matters. YOU matter. You are not alone in this big world. And this big world needs you.
“I love you so much. Let me be strong for us right now. Let me hold you while you fall apart.”
So it wouldn’t be right if I didn’t finish writing my review with tears in my eyes, just like I did finishing the book. Again, it’s not sadness. Not sure if it’s happiness either. But this book gave me LIFE. THIS BOOK. This is WHY I read. The human spirit is beautiful. So love hard. Love loudly.
“Love the struggles.”
“Love in the moment.”

“Because pretending to be happy is almost like being happy. Until you remember that you’re only pretending. Then you’re sad. Really sad. Because wearing a mask every day of your life is the hardest thing to do. And after a while, you get a little scared because the mask becomes you.”
I started Loving Mr. Daniels with certain expectations. I have read my share of student/teacher romances, so I had this idea in my head of how things would go down in this story. Well, I was 100% wrong and I absolutely love that I was. Loving Mr. Daniels is a beautifully written story not just about the fact that she's a student and he's her teacher, but it was so much more than that.
Ashlyn has suffered a great loss, the loss of her other half. This 19 year old now has to move with an estranged dad that has made a life with another family. Even with all the people surrounding her, she feels lost. She's drowning in her grief and doesn't know if she'll be able to heal, that is, until she meets Daniel.
Daniel. I loved Mr. Daniels. He has also suffered a great loss and is trying to move on, to also heal, but hasn't been able to. That is, until she meets Ashlyn. These two were fated to find each other, to heal each other. Their connection was one that as I was reading, I felt. It was passionate, beautiful, breathtaking.
“I don’t want to be your friend,” he said. We breathed in together and exhaled in harmony. “I want to be yours, I want you to be mine, and I hate that we can’t be us. Because I think we were meant to be us.”
I loved the side characters Ryan and Hailey. But what I absolutely adored was Ashlyn and Daniel's mutual love for Shakespeare and music, and some heartfelt letters that made me laugh and cry.
This is not just a story about forbidden love, but about love, heartbreak, loss, and hope. This is one of those stories that no review will do it justice and you have to experience it yourself. I highly recommend you read this book, it will touch your heart.

Brilliant. Breathtaking. Inspirational. I was completely consumed by this beautiful story called Loving Mr. Daniels. Not only is it beautifully written, but it is one of the most loving and romantic stories I've ever read. It is deep. Consuming. Absolutely heartfelt and will stay with me for a very long time. It's an unconventional love story that knows no bounds. It is golden.
"Doubt thou the stars are fire. Doubt that the sun doth move. Doubt truth to be liar. But never doubt I love."
19 year old Ashlyn Jennings knows heartache. As she deals with the death of her twin sister, Gabrielle, she is forced to move to Wisconsin to see live with her dad and his new family. Giving away the most intricate part of the plot would do the reader no justice. Therefore I will just say that her sister is with her. She is LIVING for her sister. For herself. For love. And when she meets Mr. Daniels? Her heart sang. I felt it. Their connection cannot be explained in words. You FEEL it The music, the letters, the poems. That explains their love. You don't read this story. You LIVE it.
"I wondered if he knew how he controlled my heartbeats.'
Two broken souls found their missing piece in each other. The moment they met? You felt their souls heal little by little. Ashlyn and Mr. Daniels are the epitome of destiny. Their powerful love story will leave you speechless, breathless at times. It is overwhelming. Powerful. Emotional. Mr. Daniels loved Ashlyn unconditionally. His soul felt hers the moment they laid eyes on each other and has not let go since. He loved her brokenness. Her darkness. Because in her, he saw light.
"You're doing it."
"Bringing me back to life."
"You didn't bring me the light, Ashlyn. You are the light."
Loving Mr. Daniels is the most flawlessly written book I have ever read. Every single word adds meaning to the story. The words are precise and beautiful. The author has a magical talent in story telling. This is not your typical student teacher romance. It is so much more than that. It is so much deeper. It goes where many love stories do not even attempt to go. A story of all consuming love, death, faith, family, sadness captivated me from beginning to end. Will there be tears? Tears flowed from me throughout the story. Over sadness, happiness, and most of all, love.
"Her love was breathing life into my entire being."
This beautiful thought provoking story will make you question everything you thought about love. The power love. What love can do, accomplish, overcome. This is the love story of all love stories. The emotions in this are raw and genuine. The story? Romantic, passionate, and ultimately, irrevocably, beautiful.
