My heart is still singing over this! Perfectly Broken is a flawless and heartfelt story about two broken individuals that find love and healing through each other. The story immediately grabs you from the beginning.
"I didn't know one woman could make me feel the way you do."
Peyton, an owner of a local pie store, has endured an unthinkable tragedy. Even years after therapy, she believes she is truly broken. She hides her beautiful frame behind baggy clothes. She has no desire to date anyone, until she meets a certain architect named Reed Langston. He is a bad boy, player. He doesn't do relationships. Yet, he finds himself wanting more with Peyton. She continues to hide herself, until she gives into his charm. Eventually she breaks down and shares her past, but Reed doesn't share his. When everything comes to light, things are never the same. Two broken people are forced to trust each other as they fall irrevocably in love.
"You are not broken...and I'll spend the rest of my life kissing every inch of you until you believe me"
Perfectly Broken is completely heartfelt. You are not told Peyton's past in the beginning, but you are no less sympathetic towards her. You feel her pain, her anguish, her want to live life. But you also understand why she is so hesitant. Even when she meets Reed. She takes a while to even warm up to the idea of getting to know him. Their chemistry is obvious the moment they meet. The jolt they both feel when they touch is apparent. You feel it. But their love story is not easy. It is not the usual. It's slow building. Completely beautiful, raw, genuine and passionate. Reed is not used to going slow with women. But, he finds that he is completely content with getting to know Peyton slowly. He pursues her relentlessly and they slowly fall for each other. And it's wonderful, magical. Watching them fall in love is what made my heart sing.
"You can't fix me."
"I'm still going to try. And if I can't, I'll share your scar with you."
This story is flawlessly and effortlessly written. You will immediately connect with all aspects of this story and every single character. We get both POVs of Reed and Peyton. I really enjoyed the writing style as I felt that I was able to understand the characters on a deeper level. Their are risks to falling in love. And with Peyton and Reed , the risks are much higher. There are reasons that they stay away from love, feelings, and relationships. Yet, with each other everything makes sense. Their lives are never the same. Their scars remain, but heal a little bit more everyday.
"I know we're worth saving. We're not broken. We're perfect together."
The author not only sheds light on a heavy subject matter, but it is also executed in a way that adds depth to the story. You are completely immersed in Peyton's pain and understand why she has been hiding for so many years. Her story is beautiful. Her journey is inspirational and thought provoking. And Reed? He is by no means perfect, but he is perfect for Peyton. He loved her beyond her scars and her pain. Even with his past, and learning about Peyton's he just loved her harder. He loved with conviction. And even will his flaws, Peyton loves him with such a force. Their love knows no boundaries. This contemporary romance is full of love and hope. It reminds you that in all things, choose love. Love heals. Always.
