The idea of soulmates intrigued me when I read the synopsis for this book. I had no idea what to expect and I loved that.
We know from the beginning that Ethan and Olivia are soulmates. Olivia is not who she used to be thanks to her ex that left her with scars deeper than her physical ones. She's afraid of letting anyone in her heart again and doesn't think she's worthy of loving or being loved by someone. When she meets Ethan, she's a little apprehensive of the gorgeous Irish man. Which I completely understood; he's a little arrogant and has a huge temper. She's been burned once, she's not letting it happen again.
I liked the chemistry between these two from the get-go and not even they could not deny the connection. Olivia tries to put barriers between them and her from the start but my dear Ethan is willing to fight as hard as he can to bring those barriers down. Ethan is super protective (and did I mention swoony?) of Olivia, which at times I found a little overbearing. Olivia infuriated me at times with the way she kept pushing away Ethan more than once but I really liked her feistiness and the fact that she was very much an independent woman with no need for a man in her life.
I liked that the whole soulmate plot was not as overpowering as I thought it was going to be. It was mentioned a few times and we even get flashbacks of Ethan and Olivia in the 1900s, which I really enjoyed. I liked the secondary characters and would love to see more of them in the next book of this series.
Overall, I really enjoyed this book. It was a little slow at first, but then it picked up the pace and I couldn't put it down. I can't wait to see what happens next with Ethan and Olivia, and hope that they get their happy ending.
Tricia Daniels lives in a small town in Southern Ontario, Canada, where she raised three kids as a single parent. Creativity and imagination is something there is never a short supply of in her home. Between her quick wit and wicked sense of humor she found that she has a passion for writing steamy romance novels. Her goal is simple, tell her story, warm a few hearts, shed a few tears, share a silent chuckle, and occasionally, make people blush.
Well that's the official version. The truth is... I'm just a normal woman, struggling to pay the bills and trying to raise my kids in a home where they feel empowered, supported and loved. This story would have never been shared with anyone if it wasn't for very good friends, who continue to try and convince me that I have a gift. Who knew? Definitely not me.
