*I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.*
Blaire Hayes and Jason Bryant were two high school friends who had feelings for each other but never acted on them. When they meet up again a few years later at a party, they are still attracted to each other, and they take the chance to act on these feelings.
Break You was a sweet, funny, romantic story that had some drama, was emotional at times, and had a prologue that left me wanting to read more.
I liked both Blaire and Jason, I think Jason more than Blaire because that girl could be stubborn. Jason was a sweetheart, and I loved that he didn’t give up when it came to Blaire. They both had some issues, and they were frustrating at times as there was a few misunderstandings that left me rolling my eyes and shouting, “just talk to each other!”.
I did like that, because this wasn’t a long book, it meant that the author didn’t drag the misunderstandings out for lots chapters. I had guessed where the story was heading, but I was somewhat surprised by the twist it took, I didn’t see that coming, and my heart when out to both Blaire and Jason it also meant the story seemed a lot more realistic, and I liked that.
"I kissed him and practically mauled him to death with my vagina”
“You can’t live in the past, you have to continue forward because you never know when everything might end.”
There were lots of great secondary characters that added to the story, and I have to say I felt that if the author is planning to add more books to this series then Blair’s flat mate Paige, and friend Lauren both could all have their own stories, especially Paige.
I was surprised at the ending as the way things were going, and what with the time left on my Kindle I was sure it was going to end on a cliffhanger, but it didn’t which was good. However I did think it ended too soon as I don’t think their journey was over yet. So I’m hoping that maybe we will hear more about Blare and Jason in future books.
Overal, apart from how I felt about the ending I did enjoy Break You. It was a quick read, which I happily read in an evening. It was the first book I have read from Jennifer Synder, I would definitely read more from her as I liked the characters she created, her writing style is engaging from the start. Break You is another book that I would recommend that you add to your TBR list.
