I received a copy of this book from Netgalley in exchange for honest review*
Foolish Games by Tracy Solheim, is the second in the Out of Bounds Series, and I have to confess I didn’t read the first. Not because I didn’t want to, simply I didn’t check first. So overlooking my ODC habit of never reading books out of order even if they can read as a standalone, I pull up my big girl panties, and started to read.
I have to say that I thought the book was good. I’m not going to go into the storyline as the synopsis gives you all you need to know. For the most part, I like William and Julianne. I don’t really I agree with Julianne's choice to keep the pregnancy from Will, but at the time she had her reason, and did what she thought was right for her.
I love that William wanted to do right by his son, didn’t want him to have the same stigma that he had as a child. William and Julianne relationship is not great at first, there was not much trust between them, but they both had to suck it up and to do what’s best for Owen. I enjoyed watching their relationship develop as couldn’t deny the attraction that they still feel for each other, which lead to some steamy scenes together.
“One the one had he wanted to hate her for attempting to shut him out of Owen’s life, but whatever attraction that hummed between still pulled at him every time he laid eyes on her”
I like the secondary characters, like the side story about Will’s mum. Shane and Carly were in it, and as I have not read their story I was worried about spoilers. But there was any really, and what I did learn about them pique my curiosity, and so I go and read their story.
Overall, I like this book, it was an easy, and enjoyable read. I had a feeling that I knew what was going to happen, and for the most part I did, but it didn’t take away my enjoyment of the book. As there were a few twists thrown it, which was good. Loved the epilogue, let me with a smile on my face.
Foolish Games was the first book I have read by Tracy Solheim, and it won’t be my last. I liked the writing and the pace of the story. I have to say after reading the prologue and the first chapter of the next book series. I have a feeling that I will be reading Risky Game sometime soon. If you loved sport sexy romance stories, then I would add this series to your TBR list.
Tracy's creative writing career started in the fourth grade when she published her first book. It was a bestseller–mainly because her dad bought all ten copies. From there, she moved on to work for NBC Sports and then to writing reports and testimony for Congress.
Today, Tracy is the author of best selling contemporary romance novels featuring hot football players and the women who love them.
She lives in Georgia, with her husband, two nearly adult children, and a horse named after her first novel: Game On.
