*I received an ARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.*
Rachel leaves Buffalo, NY to escape from her past and she ends up in a diner one night in Wyoming where she meets Clint. There is an instant attraction between the two, and after a brief conversation and noticing a bruise on her face, Clint has this overwhelming feeling to protect Rachel, and so he offers her a job on his ranch. Not really knowing where she is going or what her next plans are Rachel decides to stay, and the next day goes to the ranch and takes Clint up on his job offer.
Clint is a hardworking, sexy cowboy and an alpha male. One who looks good in a pair of wranglers. I’m not going to lie, I was a fan. He is a little guarded with his feelings due to getting hurt in a past relationship.
Rachel and Clint were not looking for a relationship, but chemistry the between the two is intense and undeniable. Both are feeling things that they have never felt before and it’s not long until they give in to their attraction. Life is good until Rachel’s past catches up with her and threatens her future.
I loved the storyline told from both Rachel and Clint’s POV. It’s fast paced, funny, touching, has a little drama, suspense and oh wow! And in true Scarlett Metal style plenty of hot sexy steamy scenes that didn’t disappoint. I loved Rachel and Clint together, all he wants to do is protect Rachel from what and whom she is running from.
The secondary characters such as Clint’s family were lovely. I loved the way his mum and his sister Eliza welcomed Rachel into the family. Then there is Clint’s brother Wyatt who is hard to forget. He’s a player, loves the ladies but doesn’t do relationships. After reading his POV at the end of the book, I can’t wait to read his story.
Overall I really enjoyed this book, being a fan of Scarlett I had a feeling I would have. It has a slightly different feel to her other books that I have read, and I liked that. I loved the sexiness of this book, her writing style, her characters are well developed, and the way she pulls me in. I mean hey! I’m a city girl, but I could have happily moved to Hidden Lane Ranch. I so want to live there!
If you love your cowboys, and are looking for a sexy romance with some suspense thrown in then Goodbye Girl is the book for you.
“Whenever I got near him, the sexual tension between us was so thick you could almost cut it with a Knife”
“I felt like a teenage boy again, seeing the girl I had a crush on. It was a long time since a girl affected me like this, not since Hope. But even her I don’t think I ever had such intense feelings so soon.”
“There was no mistaking by the look on his face, he wanted me as much as I wanted him”
“I was going to let my guard down completely, and I hoped she was going to do the same for me”
“My mind was a jumbled mess and my body trembling from Clint’s touch. Never had a man affected me like this”
“Rachel, there’s no turning back once I open that door. If we go in there, you’re all mine tonight. I’m going to take off your clothes and do things to you that will make you blush when you think about it tomorrow. I plan to please you until you beg me to stop but you know what? I’m not going to. I’m going to keep going until I make you pass out with pleasure”
"There was something about the beauty of it all that just drew me in. I felt like I'd come home.” ~ Rachel
