Blog Tour - Forgiving Lies (Forgiving Lies #1) by Molly McAdams ~ Excerpt, Derna's Review and Giveaway
*I received an ARC from Edelweiss in exchange for honest review*
Logan “Kash” Ryan is an undercover cop who has a case to solve. He’s protective, strong, funny, caring, hot and swoon worthy. Everything you would look for in a book boyfriend. Kash finds it hard to stay focused on the job ahead after he meets his new neighbor Rachel Masters. Rachel is smart, feisty, independent and sweet. Her history has made her guarded, hard trust people, and she is more than happy being single.
“The only girl I’ve wanted for years now, and I can’t get her out of my head, no matter what I do she repeatedly blows me off like I’m nothing”
“It didn’t matter if my heart had skipped a few beats, and butterflies had taken up residence in my stomach when I first saw him…….A bad boy was definitely not in my future. Guys in general were not in my future.”
With both having secrets, it means they try to keep the friendship they have formed as just friends, but as it deepens the chemistry, the attraction and the sparks that fly between them means this is easier said than done.
“While I knew we needed to remain friends, it was a near-constant struggle to get my body and heart to understand that too.”
“I’d known that first day that she was a game changer, and I wasn’t sure I could live without her"
Forgiving Lies was a little different from Molly’s previous books, maybe not as heartbreaking. There was plenty of hot sexy romance, drama, angst, suspense, humor and a few twists along the way. Loved the connection Kash and Rachel, they were good together, and had great banter.
I liked how things between them developed slowly as they got to know each other and as their walls being to crack, especially for Rachel.
“I’d let my guard slip and somewhere along the way I’d let Kash in. It terrified and thrilled me, but I couldn’t keep pretending”
I really liked the ending it was action packed, and intense. I was in a happy place as there was that all-important epilogue that I love, and them boom!!! Molly sucker punched me with a twist in the epilogue, which meant the book ended on a cliffhanger, and I was left slightly frustrated, and wanting more.
Overall, I really liked this book; it was an entertaining read that I happily read in one sitting. Forgiving Lies has everything (except for the cliffhanger ending) that I love about Molly, and love about her writing style. It flowed well and was told in dual POV with likeable secondary characters such as Mason and Candice.
I can’t wait to read the next book in the series, Deceiving Lies to discover what is going to happen next for Kash and Rachel. If you love Molly then you will love Forgiving Lies and if you don’t love cliffhangers and are happy to wait then, I would recommend you wait until March 4th, when Deceiving Lies is released and you can read both books back to back.
Book Two Coming March 4, 2014 . . .
