When Journalist Skylar Shaw meets Luca Rossi all, she looking for is more information on a recent plane crash except the mysterious Italian wants remain anonymous and, therefore, is giving very little away. Luca is hiding a secret, and being a Journalist Skylar doesn’t give up easily. Soon there is a lot more between then just the research for a story about a plane crash.
“Luca… Well, he was gorgeous and spellbinding. And probably only on the Island for a while which made him instantly dangerous”
Skylar was sassy and not afraid to say what she was thinking and as for Luca, well it was hard not to like him, as I love men with accents. Luca and Skylar are both likeable characters the chemistry between them is passionate and intense, and I totally understood the hesitancy that they both felt at times due to both their past.
“Skylar Shaw was the most intriguing and sexy woman he’d met in years, only at precisely the wrong time”
I liked the suspense element of the story, and there were some twists that kept the story interesting like a crazy ex-girlfriend. I was worried that as I came to the last 20% of the story that there was going to be a cliffhanger or the ending was going to be rushed but it wasn’t. I will say although the ending it was different from what I was expecting I like it, and it all played out well. And Tamara gives you a sweet epilogue that finished the book off nicely.
"This is everything I thought I didn’t want. Or didn’t need. But I’m here now and it’s everything I need and the only thing I want."
Overall Hot Shade is Tamara Lush’s debut novel, and I felt it's written well, romantic suspense story that was also sexy and enjoyable. The dialogue between the different characters, which was told in the third person, was good, and I look forward to seeing what Tamara has next in store for us.

Blog Tour ~ Heart- Shaped Hack by @Tgarvisgraves Includes Derna' Review, Excerpt, The first five Chapters and a Giveaway
*** I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review ***
I was so excited when the Arc of Heart-Shaped Hack by Tracey Garvis-Graves appeared on my Kindle. I’m such a fan of this author, and as most of my book friends know On The Island is one of my favorite books. So with my Kindle in one hand and a cup of green tea on the go I got comfy on my sofa and dived right in. And that is where I stay for the rest of the afternoon, as I couldn’t put it down. The more I read, the more intrigued I became and the more I wanted to find out what was going to happen. So it’s safe to say I loved it from start to finish Kate, and Ian’s story was a brilliant read.
“Always choose love. Always choose the adventure. You’ll never regret it”
Kate was strong, kind, and selfless. She was more understanding than I would have been when Ian gave her very little information about himself. But that was one of the reasons why I like her she gave Ian a chance and she didn’t let her head rule her heart. Sometimes you have to go with that gut feeling and hope it doesn’t steer you wrong.
“She wanted to do more than kiss him. Lots more. All of this with a man she knew very little about”
Ian was an enigma to me at first, and it wasn’t that I didn’t like him because I did. He was a little cocky, but I could tell his heart was in the right place. I was just cautious, as his behaviour at first glance seemed a little unethical to say the least. But I have to say like Kate it didn’t take long for Ian to win me over there was just something about him. There was so much more to this Robin Hood, who was charming, and confident than meets the eye.
“Come on over to the dark side Kate. I’ll save you a seat next to me”
I loved Kate and Ian together such sincere characters. I adore watching their relationship developed. It’s romantic, sexy, funny (basketball game) understanding, tender, and heartwarming. They made me laugh many times with the banter that they shared together. These two were perfect for each other.
“You made it so damn easy for me to love you and just as easy to like you.”
”I fell in love with him so hard, and never saw it coming”
I like the storyline it was such an interesting concept, I loved the premise of the story and it showed that Tracey did her research. It was certainly interesting learning about hackers who knew there were “black hat” hackers “gray hat” hackers and “white hat” hackers well not me but I do now. Oh, and so do two boys aged 13 & 16 who asked what book my review was about, and it was great as it not only were they surprised but it prompted an interesting conversation about hackers. I have to say I’m grateful for “white hat hackers” .
Overall, Heart-Shaped Hack was it was and sweet, funny, romantic, smart, emotional and an enlightening read. After reading it, my advice would be to don’t try to work out what is going to happen just go with it. Tracey knows what she is doing, and she likes to throw in a few twists to keep you on your toes to stop the story becoming boring. Don’t get me start on what Tracey did to my feelings at about 70% talk about emotional, but as Tracey knows I love her, so all is forgiven.
Tracey with her faultless and captivating writing pulled me in from the start and didn’t let me go. So much so that in between finishing this book and writing up my review I have gone on to read two more of her book Covet and Cherish as expected I just loved them.
I highly recommend that you one- click Heart-Shaped Hack today.
Kate was taking a break and having coffee and a muffin at Wilde Roast Café when Ian slid into the booth and sat across from her. He was wearing a lightweight cream-colored sweater with a tan-and-green-patterned shirt underneath, and he smelled good.
Confused, Kate looked around. “Where did you come from?”
“I walked in the door like everyone else.”
“Do you live nearby?” Kate lived in the St. Anthony Main neighborhood of Northeast Minneapolis. The food pantry was conveniently located on SE Main Street, which was a short three-block walk from her apartment. The quiet brick-paved street was lined with restaurants, shops, and a movie theater and included a stunning view of the Mississippi River and St. Anthony Falls. There were also bars that featured live music and plenty of green space in nearby parks.
He shook his head. “Not really.”
“Then why are you here?”
“I felt like talking to you again. You’re seated, so you probably won’t try to strangle me this time.”
“How did you know where to find me?” She was tucked away in a back booth instead of one of the tables near the windows that looked out over SE Main, so it wasn’t like he’d walked by and spotted her.
He held a steaming cup of coffee and blew on it to cool it. “I tracked your credit card activity. According to Capital One, you bought a cup of coffee and a muffin here twelve minutes ago.”
“You tracked my credit card?” Her voice sounded rather loud and shrieky.
He held a finger in front of his mouth. “Shh, Katie Long Legs. That information is for your ears only. How’s your coffee? Would you like a refill?”
Kate did not appreciate being shushed, but she lowered her voice. “Are you some kind of cyberthief?” she whispered. And since when were criminals so well-dressed and impeccably groomed?
“I did not steal your credit card number. I simply accessed your account to see where and when you’d used it last. Then I came here.”
“If you wanted to talk to me again, why didn’t you just go to the food pantry?”
He looked at her like it was obvious. “Because you’re not there. You’re here at this café.”
“If you’re not a cyberthief, then what are you?”
“I’m a hacker.”
“Is there a difference?”
“When you said you steal from the rich to give to the poor, I thought you were kidding. Is that how you get the money?”
“I don’t steal it. I appropriate it from people who shouldn’t have it in the first place. Then I give it to those who are more deserving.”
Kate twisted her napkin. “I can’t keep the money. I’ve already spent the first two donations, but if you come back to the food pantry with me, I can return the most recent one. It’s still locked in the safe because I wasn’t planning on going shopping until tomorrow.”
“No, Katie. I don’t want it back. It’s for you. It’s for the babies.”
“It’s wrong,” she said quietly.
“It’s against the law.”
“Trust me when I say the people I took it from don’t want the law involved any more than I do.”
“What are you saying? That you’re a thief who steals from other thieves?”
He wrinkled his nose, and it was adorable.
“It sounds so distasteful when you say it like that. I prefer master appropriator of ill-gotten funds. You can call me master for short.”
“I have lots of things I’d like to call you. Master is not one of them.”

Author: Marina Anderson
Genre: Erotica Romance
Release Date: 18th June, 2015

As they explore the delights on offer, Grace realises this is a test: if she fails, she will lose David to his next passing fancy. If she succeeds, she will secure his love for ever, and he will finally invite her into his world . . .
Take some time away and allow yourself to be seduced by The Hotel of Seduction.
Grace and David were and an interesting couple and while I like Grace I couldn’t warm to David. I felt he was cold, and I found it hard to connect with his character, and for the life of me I couldn’t see Grace’s attraction to him. I did wonder if it would have been better if I have read The Dining Club series first as this was where they met. I think would have given me more background knowledge on Grace and David, and maybe I would have understood their attraction and connection better. I was disappointed that there wasn't more passion, sexiness and tender moments between just Grace and David as I think that was needed.
There were a few twists and secondary characters that made me want to keep reading as I was intrigued how it would all play out. Obviously there are a lot of sex scenes in this book, as it is an erotic book, and while I was curious to see the difference fantasies being act out these scenes weren’t as hot as expected. I also felt that the romance side was missing.
I did like the way it ended for Grace and David, and although I’m still not a fan of I did see a few redeeming qualities about him. Yes he does love Grace in his own unique way. There is no cliffhanger as such, but I will say the epilogue had a little interesting snippet that set the scene up for the next book if there is one.
Overall, while I liked it The Hotel of seduction I just didn’t love it as sadly some parts fell a little flat for me.
Blog Tour – ‘The Happy Ever Afterlife of Rosie Potter (RIP)’ by Kate Winter @KatiCut @littlebookcafe
Title: The Happy Ever Afterlife of Rosie Potter (RIP)
Author: Kate Winter
Genre: Chic Lit / Romance/ Paranormal
Release Date: 21st May, 2015
Falling in love is never simple. Especially when you're dead.
When Rosie Potter wakes up one morning with what she assumes is the world's worst hangover, the last thing she expects is to discover that she's actually dead. With a frustrating case of amnesia, suspicious circumstances surrounding her untimely demise, and stuck wearing her ugliest flannel PJs, Rosie must figure out not only what happened last night, but why on earth she's still here.
Slowly the mystery unravels, but there are many other secrets buried in the quiet Irish village of Ballycarragh, and nobody is as innocent as they first appear. Aided by the unlikeliest of allies in her investigation, Rosie discovers that life after death isn't all it's cracked up to be, particularly when you might just be falling in love . . .
In this hilarious, life-affirming and romantic journey through Rosie Potter's afterlife, she shares the ghostly tale of how she lived, she died, and she loved (in that order).
The story is told from Rosie's POV, and I won't say much about it as I don't want to give away spoilers. I will say don't let the title put you off as despite the subject matter that yes Rosie Potter is dead. It's not as dark as you may expect; it is a lighthearted & entertaining. Just look at the colourful cover, it's not one that screams Doom and gloom. Now is it?
I loved Rosie’s wit, sense of humor, vibrant personality and her determination. There were some touching moments between her and other characters as they come to turns with the realization her life is now sadly over.
Rosie was an entertaining character, and I have to say so were many of the secondary characters that live in the quiet Irish Village of Ballycarragh. Loved the banter between these characters they made me laugh many times. Apart from the odd one or two who I wanted to slap! I liked them all, especially Charles I won't say much about him, but he was a sweetheart, and I did have a soft spot for him.
Overall this was a heartwarming, humorous and touching read with a paranormal element. I did like the twist at the end and was certainly unexpected. I have to say thought I knew who killed Rosie’s, but I was wrong. It did make me think of the film Ghost as the premise was similar, but as this is one of my favourite films (I love Patrick Swayze) I didn’t care.
The Happy Ever Afterlife of Rosie Potter (RIP) was Kate Winter’s debut novel I was truly impressed, and I liked her writing style it was witty and engaging from the start. Kate has written a story that yes, did make me think that life can be short, and maybe we shouldn't take everything for granted, as we don't know what's around the corner. But that being said it wasn’t in depressing way and after reading the lovely epilogue I was left with a smile on my face. I enjoyed being on Rosie’s life-affirming and romantic journey.
I’m looking forward to reading Kate’s next book.
Oh, and would I like to see what people think about me after I have gone? Mmmm I’m not too sure.

Title: Three Brothers
Author: Nicole Williams
Genre: New Adult/Adult Romance
Release Date: 20th January, 2015
Cover designed: The Cover Lure
I grew up with three brothers. They weren’t tied to me by blood, but our connection went beyond genetics or bearing the same last name. Our connection was forged the summer I turned thirteen, the summer my mom ended her life and left me in the custody of John Armstrong, a man I’d never met. Packing all I owned in a couple of boxes, I left the familiarity of the big city and headed west to Red Mountain Ranch, set in a lonely valley outside of Jackson Hole.
Nothing was as it seemed at Red Mountain—it didn’t take long for me to figure that out. John was kind to me but distant, as if he was afraid to let anyone get too close. His three teenage sons had their own devices for keeping love as far away as they could. The eldest distracted himself with cheap relationships that had a shelf-life of one night. The middle son threw himself into the rigor of running a ranch, and the third wielded cruelty and mind-games in his quest to keep people from getting close.
Time has gone by, and I’ve spent those years trying to forget the brother I’d fallen for—the biggest mistake of my life.
Finally, I’ve moved on. Finally, I’m back. But what I didn’t realize was that running away from the wrong brother meant I’d also run away from the right one. The one who’d been there for me all along, waiting in his brother’s shadow for the day I either would or could move on.
But a decade is a long time to wait. Has the brother I should have chosen all of those years ago moved on too? Am I about to discover that my biggest mistake wasn’t falling in love with the wrong brother, but failing to return the love of the right one sooner?
Does unrequited love have an expiration date?
I’m about to find out.
Author’s Note: This book is a "sweet" romance that isn't overly sexy. Fans of LOST & FOUND will be interested in THREE BROTHERS.
“If I’d known then what I knew now, I wouldn’t have fallen in love with him”
When she returns, she finds that some things have changed; She soon discovers that the running from the brother that hurt her meant leaving who would do anything for her, and each Armstrong man is suffering in different ways.
“I felt like all the men I cared about were being torn apart, brick by brick, and there was nothing I could do to stop it”
The story was an emotional read about coming home, love, loss, friendship, forgiveness, sacrifice, hope, acceptance and moving forward. Scout was a strong character and love the way she wanted to help others. It was interesting to watch her relationship with each of the men play out, as she tries to mend the past, move on from the hurt, as secrets are revealed, as love starts to develop.
“I’ve got you now. That’s all that matters. Right now, right here, you’re mine.”
The Armstrong men were a mixed bunch, and I had mixed feelings about them. They were suffering in different ways for very different reasons, and my heart went out to them, they had me reaching for the tissues and swooning at the same time.
“There is no one better for me than you. There never has been, and there never will be.”
Overall, I enjoyed Nicole Williams lasted novel, it was different from what I was expecting, and in a good way, not your typical NA romance. Three Brothers was a well-written heartwarming story. It may have not been as she says overly sexy, but that didn’t matter, as it wasn’t needed, I loved being on this journey with the characters.
“Would you let yourself love someone if you were convinced it would be your love that would kill them?”
The twist towards the end did take me by surprise; it made for an interesting turn of events that left me a little anxious while reading. If I were to say anything, it would be that I would have loved more about Scout’s past as I felt that was lacking but that being said, it didn’t take away my enjoyment of this book that I read in one sitting.
Fans of Nicole’s will love this one, and I highly recommend that you add Three Brothers to your TBR list.

Are you ready for Mariana’s story in this heart-wrenching NEW series!?
Author: Lili St. Germain
Series: Cartel #1
Genre: Biker Erotica
Release Date: 27th January 2015
The first full length Gypsy Brothers novel from the smash hit author Lili St. Germain.
How much is a life worth?
I grew up in Colombia, the daughter of a wealthy drug lord. I lived a life of extravagance, until one day a drug run went horribly wrong and everything came crashing down around us.
I was given away. A payment for a debt. The Gypsy Brothers Motorcycle Club became my new owners, and I did everything I could to survive.
But falling in love with the man who owned me wasn't part of the plan...
“Of All the things in life, love is the most confusing. The most all-consuming. The reason we breathe, the light in our darkness”
I’m not going to go into the story, but I will say it’s intense, raw, gritty, and violent with a dark and suspense aspect. It’s about loss, love, heartache, revenge, fear, hope, secrets and survival, and with the drugs and sex trafficking all thrown in for good measure. So its safe to say was an intensely captivating read.
“They say every girl want to marry her father, but I wanted mind to vanish”
I love Mariana, and my heart went out to her, her story was filled with sadness, she tries to be strong, she is feisty at times, says what she thinks, regardless of the consequences but underneath there is such as vulnerability about her. I could feel her desperation as she attempts to come to terms with the reality of her devastating the situation. I think knowing what I know, and about how it all ultimately for her made it more heartbreaking.
“I had never felt so alone in my life, and shit was going to get a whole lot worse before it got any better”
When it came to the crazy sick psychopath monster sorry, I mean Dornan. I liked that his point of view was in third person, as I so didn’t want to be inside his head. Lili doesn't take us for fools she knows we won't fall in love with him, after all that we now know about him, so she hasn't even tried to make us.
“He was a bad motherfucker, as bad as they come, he was merciless…. There was something about Dornan, something different I was afraid if him but not in the same way”
What she does do is makes us see a different side to him; make us understand where he came from. Learn about his life, with the Gypsy Brother, the Cartel, his relationship with his psychopath father and also John (Jules dad). There were times that I felt sorry for him, and I did get to see that softer side of him, so although I’m never going to like or love Dornan I may understand a little more.
“The darkness that flowed through his veins disgusted him, but trying to resist it had only ever made things worse. When tried to control the darkness inside him it didn’t abate, but stored up in increments, until it inevitably bubbled up like poison rendering his violence uncontrollable”
However, when I think about what he did in the end what he did to Jules, the words “Fuck You Dornan! Always came to mind.
Mariana and Dornan's relationship was an interesting and intense one, which left me with mixed feelings as it was developing. I kept thinking this is not right, but yet I could understand Mariana's feelings and Dornan also in someways. It was one of necessity, love, hate, pain and passion.
“Something burned between us, something powerful. Something that frighten me, because I liked it I liked him. And I didn’t want to”
“It was a dangerous proposition, to be falling in love with a woman who is owned by the Cartel”
For anyone who doesn't want to read it because of a hate for Dornan, I would say fine, don't read it for him read it for Mariana. As it’s her story, and that is what without a doubt is what pull me from the start. I was doubtful as to if I would like Cartel, and I can honestly say I did. Lili St. Germain has hooked me again with her amazing storytelling and writing. I loved intensely, and the emotions I felt while reading this one, and that shows in the many quotes highlights. As the story is far from over, I’m sure there is a lot more to come, plenty of twists and turn, and so much more to learn. Therefore it’s safe to say I can’t wait to read the next book in the series Kingpin.
She paused with the bread in her hand, looking around the room in mock surprise. ‘You mean, we’re not Beauty and the fucking Beast?’
‘Well, you’re certainly beautiful,’ he said.
‘And you’re definitely a beast,’ she countered, pushing her empty bowl away and resting back on the bed.
‘But there’s no happy ever after for you,’ Dornan added, his eyes trailing over the chains to reach the cuffs that were now permanent bracelets on her wrists.
‘No,’ she said evenly, matching his intense gaze. ‘Not for any of us. Not in this world.’

Blog Tour - Saving Poughkeepsie (The Poughkeepsie Brotherhood #3) by Debra Anastasia ~ Ava's Review and Double Giveaway!
Title: Saving Poughkeepsie
Author: Debra Anastasia
Series: The Poughkeepsie Brotherhood #3
Genre: Romantic Suspense
Release Date: November 22, 2014
Beckett Taylor’s quest to be a better man has brought Eve Hartt back into his life, but sometimes it feels like they’re bound together with barbed wire. Though he longs to love her without causing pain, the wreckage of their past continues to crash down around them.
Yet with the help of this brothers—and for his brothers—Beckett won’t stop trying. He’s determined to make them all a family, to make a life they want to live, and to make Poughkeepsie a place that’s safe to live it.
He can feel their futures balanced precariously on his shoulders: Blake and Livia and their children, Cole and Kyle and the new baby they’ve just brought home, and Eve…always Eve. He wants their dreams to be real. But murderers don’t just get Happily Ever After handed to them. They have to wrench it away from Satan himself.
Good thing Beckett is prepared to do just that. After all, saving Poughkeepsie is the only way his story ends.
Prepare your heart and your head for a wild ride in this final installment of the Poughkeepsie Brotherhood series. Debra Anastasia does not disappoint as she weaves the last chapter of a story that blends true love, turbulent emotions, and life’s harsh realities into an uplifting tale that calls to the good in each of us.
I fell in love with the Poughkeepise series over 2 years ago. I picked up my first book by Debra Anastasia by chance, and I’m so thankful I did. I feel like I’ve experienced it all with these characters, and because of that I feel protective of them. So much so, I was a bag of nerves for the ENTIRE book.
Beckett is a fixer and he cares deeply for his patchwork family. But what Beckett lacks is faith in himself as a person. He knew his decisions impacted on his brothers and now, he wanted to change his ways. He wanted to be someone they could be proud of.
“I’m tired of the way things were –the way they are. I’ve got too many people who deserve to sleep at night, not to be punished because they know me.”
I loved Beckett’s plans and I thought it fit with his character. I loved how everything came together and more importantly I’m glad the brothers were always there for each other. Their bond was unbreakable.
Eve went through some really tough times in this book. Of course, she processed them in her own unique way. I’m not one for meddlesome characters and Eve invited temptation into her life. I knew there was no need to worry. Eve was fully committed to Beckett but even so, I was biting my nails frequently just wanting this annoying little gnat to go away. But that element was necessary as it did force Beckett to stop and really learn what Eve needed. It made them all the stronger for it.
As the main storyline was starting to take shape, I must admit it creeped me out at first. But then we aren’t talking about normal people here. As soon as I reached the 70% mark, I couldn’t put the book down. My heart was in my mouth the whole time and I had to know how it would all turn out. It was well worth staying up to nearly 2am to finish it.
Beckett has been a character I loved from the beginning. When I first met him, he was a huge power Lord who lived on the other side of the law. But from the get go I knew he had a big heart and he would do anything for his brothers. What I loved most about this story was Debra Anastasia managed to steer Beckett in another direction without changing his character and who he was. She did a great job with this.
I love Debra’s writing, love and emotion is perfectly weaved through the prose and I believe it’s why I feel connected to the characters. There was beautiful phrasing throughout the book and I thought it couldn’t have been said any better.
“Beckett had a lot of layers. She used to hate herself for falling in love with him, but now she felt like she might be the only one qualified to do so.”
I didn’t mind that the story was told in third person narrative, it’s something I am getting into more and because of this, I really got three stories for the price of one. I loved seeing Cole and Kyle and Blake and Livia’s lives progress as well.
The end of this book and series was bittersweet for me. I was happy with the way things ended and I loved the whole “Saving of Poughkeepsie” but I felt sad, to no longer be a part of this world. As I closed my kindle, I thought of Beckett, Cole and Blake from the beginning and how far they had come. Especially Blake. Even thinking of him now brings tears to my eyes. My favourite quote from the book is: “Life was good: no one shot at him, Cole didn’t look like he’d been praying for Beckett’s soul all night, and Blake was standing in the fucking sunshine.” The last part kills me every time.
I was still feeling emotional after finishing the book, so much so I couldn’t write this review, I wanted to keep these characters for a little longer. But then I discovered we are getting a prequel? I don’t need to say goodbye just yet? My day was made!
Saving Poughkeepsie was a fitting end to a fabulous series. I would have never predicted it would go down this way but I wouldn’t have changed a thing. If you haven’t read these books, I suggest you rectify that now!

Her writing started a decent handful of years ago when--along with the animals and humans in her house--the voices of characters started whispering stories in Debra's ear. Insomnia was the gateway to plots that wouldn't give up, wouldn't let go. Now they stalk her everywhere. Halfway through making lunches, a twist takes hold and--fingers full of peanut butter--she finds somewhere, anywhere to write it down.
She's eternally grateful to Omnific Publishing, which has now published four of her books: two in the Seraphim Series and two in the Poughkeepsie Brotherhood Series, as well as her novella, Late Night with Andres. That one is special because 100% of the proceeds go to breast cancer research. (So go get it right now, please!) Life As I Know It:
Such was my life in fabulous Las Vegas. But what do you expect when you’re the daughter of a prostitute. This is not the life I want for myself, and I have a plan.
Life As I Want It:
Go to college.
Get my degree.
Get as far from Vegas as possible.
But life has other plans. Plans that include him. Life isn’t always sunshine and roses and even the best laid plans change.
This is my story. The story of a girl who thought she had it all figured out until life threw her a curve ball. My name is Presley and I refuse to be just another Working Girl.
“Life is meant to be scary…But you’ve gotta take the chance every now and then”
Presley Adams hasn't had an easy life her mother was a prostitute. She hates the life she has been dealt, but she deals with it. She is doing all she can try and live a normal life, and not follow in her mother's footsteps. She's a fighter; she’s independent, but at the same time there is still a vulnerability about her. She has dreams, but also her demons that lead to self-doubt and insecurities. Presley is scared of love, and what it may bring! Her walls are up, and she is afraid of letting someone get close.
“I’m just a girl. A girl with hopes and dreams. Just craving to be loved”
Until she meets Emerson Williams the guy with the cute smile, and those dimples. He’s smart, confident; he intrigues her, something about him is familiar, but at the same time mysterious. He slowly gets under her skin; he makes her nervous, but most of all hopeful, and something that she thought she would never be. Emerson sees something in her, something that makes him want her, a deep feeling that they could be good together.
“There’s got to be a reason Emerson is pursuing me. After all, there is nothing special about me”
“I don’t know what your story is, but I want you to know that I’m not going anywhere. You are worth fighting for”
Presley and Emerson are two different people from different worlds/ life. They both have baggage, but they share a common ground. From the moment they first meet they both feel a connection, and somehow the balance each other out. He’s honest with her makes feel safe, slowly breaks down her walls. And she makes him feel nervous, but alive.
"Make no mistake….Emerson has become my Kryptonite”
“I know you because you’re the missing piece. You’re everything I’m not, and when you’re not around I choke. I've been choking Presley”
Told from both POV. A.E. Woodward does a wonderful job of pulling into Presley and Emerson’s story. A.E has created such incredible heartfelt characters I was captivated from the very beginning. Their journey is emotional, raw, painful, and not easy to read at times, but also heartwarming, funny and moving.
“I don’t give a shit about your baggage. I’m strong enough to carry yours …..and mine”
Presley best friend Chrissy is her rock!! And I just loved their relationship, and all that she does for Presley, so supported, and protective of her. She’s the best friend that every girl needs.
“Let him in. Cut the shit, and let life happen. It’s time”
Overall, I loved this book the storyline was about hope, love, friendship, taking a chance and learning to live. Loved the poems, the characters, the emotions, twists that kept me on the edge of my seat, and one left me shouting no way!!! I’m a fan of A.E I like her writing style it never fails to pull me in from the very first chapter. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend that you add this book or any of her others to your TBR list.
She laughs and lies down next to me. “Stop thinking, Pres. Live. Let him in. You deserve to have someone else on the inside. You have way too much beauty locked up in there to not share it. Whether or not you want to believe this, you have so much to offer someone if you would just take the chance and let someone else in. Trust me, I know what is behind those carefully constructed walls, and it’s amazing.”
If it were possible to look more like a goldfish I’d be stunned. Living this life has made Chrissy hard-faced, and although she is forever telling me she loves me, and that I’m worth more than I believed, I’ve never heard her speak with such conviction before. The problem with keeping yourself locked up tight and spending most of your time alone is that the thoughts and opinions you have about yourself fester. They fester and grow and seep into every aspect of your being, until one day, you wonder how it is that you even managed to get one true friend. Even then, I managed to convince myself that had we not been born into the same life, that there’s no way Chrissy would have wasted her time on me. She thinks so, but up until now I haven’t been so sure. We’re just so different. She exudes confidence, whereas I shy away from life. She walks into a room and commands attention; I am more than happy to sneak in via the fire exit, just to make sure no eyes are on me.
Chrissy’s eyes shimmer with tears and I know that she not only means what she is saying, but that it means something to her that I believe her. This beautiful broken soul has believed in me for so long that I owe it to her, and to myself, to allow her words to take hold of me. I reach for her hand, unable to form words eloquent enough to tell her how much she has done for me, how much she has given me. I look into her eyes and I try, with everything I am, to convey what I feel burning in my chest. I am enough.
A moment passes between us; a moment too special to mar with anything but silence. When Chrissy sniffs and shifts in her seat, I know she’s ready to move on. And I know just how.
“He’s asked me out for coffee tomorrow,” I say quietly. “What should I do?”
“Meet him. Meet him tomorrow, and every day after that.”
“But . . .” I start to argue. Getting involved with Emerson is dangerous for both of us. Someone is bound to get hurt.
Chrissy reaches out and softly places her hand over my mouth preventing me from talking anymore. With her free hand she snakes underneath my pillow and grabs my cell phone before handing it over to me. “Stop thinking, and just say yes.”

Title: Beneath It All
Author: Tori Madison
Genre: Women's Fiction/Contemporary Romance
Release Date: September 24th. 2014
I wasn't prepared to hear those words. Neither was my loving husband, family or friends. And none of us
were prepared for what life had in store after they were spoken.
I should have seen the signs all around me. I should have paid attention to the people who supposedly
loved me, the people who I'd always trusted. But I was blind to what was going on. The effects on my
flourishing career, passionate marriage and carefree lifestyle would be insurmountable.
It was time to take control of my life and the overwhelming chaos. Time to make the choices that were
right for me. Right for my future. The future I hadn't planned on.
My life didn't stop when I heard those four little words . . . it was only just beginning
Victoria Madison is living the life with her own personal design company and her sexy lawyer husband Noah when she gets the worst news of her life. She has breast cancer.
When Victoria first hears this she is obviously shocked and scared and confused. What she didn’t expect was the outpouring of support from everyone around her. Sure, she was aware that she had an amazing husband and a wonderful group of girlfriends (which I loved by the way) but she really was able to see their true colors when it got to be too rough on her, which it did.
I honestly loved all of the detail and dialogue that was put in this book. I’m not a person who has any knowledge about cancer or chemotherapy or any of the tribulations involving cancer at all, and I found myself completely fascinated by everything I read. I knew cancer treatment was tough I just never lived it through the eyes of a storyteller before. I lived through Victoria’s eyes and it was heartbreaking and scary and beautiful all at once. I was honestly mesmerized by the journey alone. Not the battle, the journey. (You’ll see)
So as Victoria embarks on this journey you get to meet so many cool people along that way. You have her Doctors who are all amazing, specifically a HOT Dr. Forrester! Kidding, they are all awesome! You have her best Friends who are saints! You will fall in love with Bobbi Jo and Jen, in fact I want my own! They are truly her backbone through this whole thing, and Noah too. They all go out of their way to make Victoria comfortable the best they can.
What you don’t see coming is something I can’t reveal do to spoiler issues but I can say this. I wasn’t happy I was livid. I just went through this whole story crying and living through the pages and then, whaaaatttttt?!?!? Oh I was so mad! So so so MAD! And then I cried again, and then laughed again. I know I sound like a basket case, but this book definitely has some twists that you won’t see coming.
By the end I was still pissed off, but better! Ha! This book was honestly something so different and beautiful and I’m not gonna lie, a little sad and aggravating at times. But it was all necessary I believe. I really REALLY enjoyed reading Victoria’s story, it’s a little different pace than you might expect but it is truly a gem. I couldn’t be happier with it, and I can’t wait for book 2!
I mulled over what just happened in my head. It started out flirty and passionate and then quickly morphed into hot and frantic. It was quite possibly one of the most intense moments we had ever shared together in bed.
I was pleased with myself and replayed everything in my head again. It was then that I realized Noah didn’t touch my left breast once. Not once. I didn’t know what to think of it and suddenly my high came crashing down. Did it affect him the way it did me? Could he feel the burn that I felt constantly in my breast when he touched it? Did he look at me as damaged already?
Noah turned me toward him and smiled. Apparently he wasn’t feeling the same emotions I was, and he looked . . . well . . . for lack of a better term . . . well fucked!
“Jesus, Victoria, what did you do to me? I don’t think I’ve ever fucked you that hard. Are you okay?”
I promptly tucked my questioning thoughts away and smiled back at him. “I’m great—that was amazing and exactly what I needed.”
In all honesty, it was what I needed, but I wasn’t prepared for the feelings I had afterward. Noah popped up out of bed and pulled on his boxers. “Why don’t you stay here and I’ll go heat up our dinner and we’ll eat it naked in bed?”
“Sure, that would be great.” I smiled as I sat up and watched him walk out of our bedroom.
I sat naked in our bed with my thoughts waging a war inside my head. Would this be the last time we had sex while I had breasts? Would he look at me like this again or be totally disgusted when my body was disfigured? Would he find me attractive anymore? Would he want me when I was damaged?
Hot tears started to stream down my checks as a soft sob left my lips. What the hell? This wasn’t me. I was strong. I didn’t cry. I wasn’t going to let this take over my life, and I couldn’t let Noah see how scared I was. Jumping off of the bed, I ran into the bathroom, quickly washed my face and tried my best to cover up the puffy and glassy-eyed look that now was present on my face. I grabbed my face lotion and cover-up and tried to hide the evidence of my mini-meltdown before Noah got back.

Title: Once Upon A dream (Summerhill, #5)
Author: Kate Perry
Publisher: Phoenix Rising Enterprises, Inc.
Release: 15th, September 2014
Age Group/Genre: Adult Contemporary Romance
Summer Welles wants the fairy tale.
The illegitimate daughter of Reginald Summerhill, the Earl of Amberlin, she listened to her mother’s stories about the Summerhill girls all her life. In her mind, Summer was part of the stories too—living in the castle, wearing fancy dresses, and falling in love with Prince Charming.
Her wish came true. Mostly. She lives in the Summerhill mansion. She has stepsisters—nice ones who don’t make her clean the chimney. She even has a magical wedding dress waiting for her special day. The only thing missing is the perfect man.
She knows exactly who he is, and she’s going to confront him at the annual MidnightMasquerade Ball. What Summer didn’t count on was mistaking a masked frog for her prince.
Once she kisses the mysterious man, he won’t go away. And he’s not sweet or charming or princely. He seems more interested in ravishing her rather than riding off into the sunset with her, and—worse—she’s tempted to let him.
Her fairy tale at stake, Summer’s faced with her own quest that neither frog nor prince can rescue her from: sacrifice her Happily Ever After, or turn her back on the one man who makes her feel alive?
*Can be read as a stand-alone novel.
Once Upon a Dream is the fifth book in the Summerhill series by the lovely Kate Perry, and as always I love spending an afternoon with the Summerhill clan.
Summer Welles The illegitimate daughter of Reginald Summerhill. She is a smart, strong, independent, and beautiful lawyer, a little prim and proper maybe, likes to wear black most of the time, but she a true a romantic at heart. Her mother had always told her that she would find her prince charming. Summer believes she has found her Prince Charming, the man who she was going to marry! Her happily ever after! But is he really her prince charming or maybe some else is!! Some who to her is more like a frog.
Once Upon a Dream was about taking chances, acceptance, second chances, trust, and discovering who you are. Summer was a great character I felt a connection to her. I loved being on her journey as discovers that her road to her happy ever after, may be a little different than she imagines. Love the interactions with her sexy alpha frog!! He was great, and I loved how he showed her what falling in love feels like.
I loved that we got more Jacqueline during this story I wasn’t expecting her story so it was a nice surprise. She's been estranged from her daughters for many years, but It was lovely to see their relationship changing and seeing how close they were becoming. She has a second chance at love, and one, which she deserves. I was certainly thinking at one-point woohoo!! You go Jacqueline!
I loved how the other Summerhill sisters were woven into the story; you can see how close that have all become. Loved the witty banter they share. I'm looking forward to reading Viola’s story next as I’m intrigued to see who her leading man will be. I know the man who I would like it to be, but I’m not sure if it will be him.
Overall Once Upon a Dream had everything I expect in a well-written romance story, wonderful characters, and romantic tension. it's an entertaining, lighthearted steamy, romantic read that can be read as a standalone. But as always I recommend that you read the rest of the series first to encounter and get the background knowledge of the rest of the Summerhill family. Kate Perry is such a great storyteller, love her books, and this one was a great addition to the series.
One last note, I must say well-done to Kate, as I'm always grateful when a US author takes the time to research words that the English (that would be me) use. Seeing words like Shag, Wanker, Fancy and Bugger used in the correct context made me smile.
“Each time his lip touch her he had an uncontrollable urge to rip her clothes off and lose himself in her”
“Maybe it's time to stop thinking and to just to with what you feel”
Maybe she should kiss him again and see if he turned into a prince…..Truthfully, she just wanted to kiss him again
Summer blinked. Had Chloe ever talked to her before? “Run to where?”
“Good point.” The teenager sighed. “They’ll just find you and bring you back.”
“You know why?” Viola asked, looping her arms around her daughter’s neck.
“Because we love you,” Vi said, looking at Summer. “You’re ours.”
Kate's the bestselling author of the Laurel Heights Novels, as well as the Pillow Talk and Guardians of Destiny series. She's been translated into several languages and is quite proud to say she's big in Slovenia. All her books are about strong, independent women who just want love.
Most days, you can find Kate in her favorite café, working on her latest novel. Sometimes she's wearing a tutu. She may or may not have a jeweled dagger strapped to her thigh...
