I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Two broken people. Megan and Mack. With commitment issues. If you’ve read the other books in the Love Square series, you’ll remember meeting them. If not, no worries as the author does a wonderful job at setting up the story that this can be read as a standalone. Bound In Blue basically hooks you within the first word of the first page to the very last word of the last page. And that epilogue? I might (I DID!) have read it several times. Her words hook you. Her storyline places you under her spell. You will not be able to put this book down. Real life? Forget about it. Life is completely on hold as you are fully immersed in the world of Megan and Mack.
The connection between Megan and Mack is instant. You FEEL it. It's something about them. The sexual tension is off the charts between these two. And in the bedroom. It’s absolutely magic. But Mack doesn’t allow anyone to penetrate into his heart. His heart remains in pieces as it was shattered years ago. Is Megan strong enough to put those shattered pieces back together into a whole? Or will her broken soul not allow her to do so? This is no ordinary love story. Bound In Blue is full of suspense, angst and a deep consuming love that easily surpasses any erotic romance that I’ve read.
This emotional story will challenge your thoughts on second chance romance. Why? Because this story isn’t an easy one. Their past has shaped them into the individuals they are today. Megan and Mack are the epitome of broken. While their past was not kind to either of them, eventually they found the will to live. Just not the strength to love. To live and love. That can be done simultaneously, right? Wrong. Not for these two. Typically, erotic romance focus on the sexual desires of the characters. Bound In Blue goes deeper. Their sexual connection just does not compare. The emotions elicited in this story are raw. This is so much more than your average broken souls find love story. This author takes that to a whole other level and adds her own special twist to it.
Jessica Ingro continues to be one of my favorite authors as she perfectly balances romance, plot, and sexy time. Her stories tend to have such a deeper meaning and you easily develop an emotional connection with her characters. They are genuine. And real. Bound In Blue is no exception. The writing style is flawless as you truly feel you are experiencing the story, rather than reading it. So much happens on Mack and Megan’s journey to love, life, and happiness and I loved every minute of it. If you want a hot, sexy, well-written, emotional, beautiful story, look no further than Bound In Blue. If you have never read Jessica Ingro’s books before, I guarantee that you will now.
Standing at the bar, I flagged down the bartender and ordered two beers. Waiting for my change, I jumped when warm breath danced against the skin of my neck. “Tell your friend you’re leaving. I want you naked and lying on your bed in exactly thirty minutes.” The word friend was said like it tasted bad.
“And if I say no?” The words came out breathlessly as my body tingled with anticipation.
“Punishment.” A full body shiver worked through me. One word, highly effective.
“I can’t waste my beer,” I argued.
Mack positioned his hands on either side of my body and leaned into my back, getting as close as he could to me. My belly pressed into the bar, and I thought he might kiss me, but after several seconds he plucked a bottle from in front of me. “Now you have no excuse.” I jumped when he landed a smack on my butt, and then I was watching his back saunter away with my beer.
Still reeling from what just happened, I shook my head and followed him to the backroom. The whole way I argued with myself over whether or not I was going to do as he said. On the one hand, I really wanted my fix of him. It was one of the reasons I had come out tonight. Okay, it was actually the reason. On the other hand, I hadn’t seen John in a really long time, and I didn’t like the idea of Mack making me leave when he wanted me to. And the threat of punishment wasn’t so much of a deterrent, but rather compelled me to want to disobey him.
Mack was lowering himself in a seat next to Kara when I hit the room. My heart skipped a beat at how good he looked. His tight white t-shirt stretched across his chest, and his long legs were clad with worn blue jeans. He leaned back in the chair and stretched his leg out in front of him, crossing them at the ankle. He looked casual and laidback, but his eyes were avidly watching me with an attentiveness that until that point I’d only seen him use in the bedroom. It was enough to convince me to leave.
“Didn’t you get yourself one?” John asked when I handed him his beer.
“Nah. Got called into work. I’m off on Sunday if you want to come over for dinner. I’ll make sauce.”
His grin was infectious and I found myself smiling even though my insides were knotted after my conversation with Mack. “I could never pass up your sauce. I’ll bring a bottle of wine.” John leaned in and kissed my cheek. “I’m glad I ran into you. I was afraid after all this time away you just didn’t want to see me anymore.” Even though his tone was joking, I knew he meant the words. After our history, I couldn’t blame him for being concerned.
“Never,” I said with conviction. “I really have to go. I’ll see you Sunday.”
I turned on my heel and pushed through the crowd towards the exit. Looking over my shoulder, my eyes met Mack’s and I swear I felt his gaze straight down to my toes.
