Torn between two men; one was what I needed, the other was what I wanted.
One man was safe and the other was dangerous.
But both men would lay down their lives to save me.
ATF agent Sam Cortez is fighting to bring down the Estrada family empire, which was built on murder and corruption.
Alex Estrada did what was needed to keep me safe…and paid with his life.
Starting over as I try to rebuild my life, it’s clear that the past is never what it seems.
What no one knew was that we were all bound by lies.
I received a complimentary copy in exchange for an honest review.
“Everything about her is beautiful. Even when she’s sad and broken and defeated, her natural beauty is all I can see.”
Bound By Lies picks up right where book one left off. Emilia is left alone to fight for herself. While Sam is there for solace, he is not Alex. I found Emilia to be much stronger in book two. When we met her in the first book, she was lost and broken. Now with everything that has gone down, she finds the strength within herself to no longer be that girl. She has more of a fighting spirit about her and becomes more resilient.
“I want to take away all of her pain if she’ll let me.”
The title of this second book couldn’t be more perfect. Every character in this story is certainly bound by lies. Nothing is as it seems. Nothing. Like the first book, it contains suspense with twists and turns you never see coming. This time around the author kicks that up a notch as all the lies unravel one after the other. This part of the story kept me entertained as it flowed and never had any lull or boring moments. The plot was well thought out.
“Love doesn’t let go...”
“Love hangs on even when there’s nothing left to hang on to.”
Overall, I thought that this was an okay read. Nothing mind blowing occurs, but I suggest it if you’re into the romantic suspense genre. The twists in the story will have you flipping the pages for more. I personally would’ve liked to see more romance, but I get that the story needed to be more plot driven. There was so much about Alex and Emilia’s past that book one didn’t scratch the surface of. If you enjoyed book one as I did, I think reading book two will answer all the questions and more. It will address some of the holes in book one and leave you satisfied at the end.
