I was still peering out of the stateroom window when Damian came in. He stopped in his tracks when he saw me. For one full, glorious second, he wasn’t in control. His gaze swept the length of my legs, over the hip-hugging shorts, and lingered on the swell of my breasts under the scandalous top. Ha! He wasn’t immune after all. He caught the smug look on my face before I could wipe it off, and his eyes narrowed.
I took one step back for each one he took forward, until I was jammed up between him and the wall.
God, he was intense. And deliberate. And he could say things with his eyes that made my knees tremble. One side of his face was bruised and distorted from where I’d hit him. He grasped both my wrists in one hand and pinned them above me. Every part of me felt flush with the heat emanating from his body, even though that was the only point of contact. He hooked a finger in the ‘V’ of my blouse, tracing the dangerously low cleavage. His touch was so soft, it was barely discernible.
“Skye?” He seemed hypnotized by the rapid rise and fall of my chest.
“Don’t play with scorpions unless you intend to get stung.” He yanked the neckline apart.
Round, glass buttons popped onto the floor and rolled around like eyeballs, astounded by the sight of my bare flesh.
“We’re harsh and predatory and full of venom.” He gnashed his teeth at me and ripped my blouse in two.
He tore off a strip and bound my wrists. Then he used the hanging trail like a leash and led me to bed.
“You’ve been trying to get a rise out of me for days. Now that you have my attention, what are you going to do?” He leaned forward, so close that I fell back onto the mattress, trying to get away from him. “Or is it that you want me to do all the work so your pampered pussy gets a taste of the other side, but you can tell yourself you didn’t have a choice?” He crawled up over me, slowly, until we were nose to nose.
I felt like hell was about to consume me. I could hear the men outside, gearing up to fill the tanks. Would they hear the sound of my screams?
“Would you like me to invite them in?” Damian secured my wrists to the bed post. “Do you really think you’d be safer with them instead of me?” He tore off another strip, giving me the chance to scream or yell or shout for help. When I didn’t, he tied it around my mouth.
He sank back on his heels, kneeling between my legs, and ran a finger from my neck to the front clasp of my bra. I stopped breathing. He moved on, trailing over my stomach, until he got to the band of my shorts. He toyed with the tab, enjoying the start-stop effect it had on my heart.
“Such a frightened little bird,” he said. Then he yanked my legs around his hips so I was flush with his rock hard arousal. “You should know better than to provoke me.”
I can count one hand how many m/m romance I have read (ok. maybe in a couple of fingers) and this one has been my all-time favorite. When I first started Try, I had no idea what to expect. But by the end I had fallen irrevocably in love with Logan, Tate, and Ella Frank's amazing writing. This time in Take I fell even more in love with Logan and Take, and I loved seeing how their relationship has evolved from Try.
Take begins right where Try left off. The guys are together, but they haven't really worked out what they are to each other, yet. It was obvious that their feeling for each other went further than the casual hookup, but it was great to see them admit to one another how much they were falling in love.
Things change for the better for these two in this book. I finally got to see them in their day-to-day lives and how they each integrated one another to their daily routines.
If you are familiar with this series, you know that Tate was married before and is going through a divorce. His family is not taking that too well, and now that they know about Logan, things between them go from bad to worse. I really loved that Logan got out of his comfort zone and was there for Tate when his family was being so horrible to him. I had always loved Logan, but in this book I loved him even more. We finally get his backstory and it, of course, was heartbreaking. And I also loved Tate. He really stepped out his comfort (like, way out) and showed the world that he is in love with Logan. It's really hard to say who I love more between these two amazing men (Logan? Tate? Gah!), so I loved them all differently but equally.
This book was almost perfect. The writing was once again amazing and the characters were like no one I have met before, but I did have one problem with it. After a while, I wanted less amazingly hot sec scenes (seriously. Those scenes were HOT!) and more story. I, for one, went into Take thinking that this one was going to be the last in the series, but no. I was surprised to find out that there is a third book coming out. At the end of Take we come face-to-face with Logan's past, so I'm having this situation doesn't wreck too much havoc in their lives even though I know they will come out on top at the end.
Overall, I really enjoyed this book. If this is the first m/m series you are considering trying, trust me, you won't be disappointed. I can't wait for book three and a little more Logan and Tate!
“Because around you, all I want to do is fall without thought.”

“You might have done the chasing in the beginning, but Logan..” “Yeah?” “I’ve never been happier than when you caught me.”
Oh how I love these boys I really do. It’s great to be back in Logan and Tate’s world and this time around we got a better look at it. At the end of Try I was left wanting more, I felt Tate’s feelings and new lifestyle wasn’t fully explored and to my delight we got all that and more in Take.
Logan was trying to convince himself what he shared with Tate was still a casual agreement but they both knew what they shared went far beyond that. And I loved reading about their life together and how they made adaptations to integrate the other into their routine.
“[Logan] felt like he was finally where he was supposed to be. The lock that had kept his heart firmly shut away had finally found its key.”
Of course it wasn’t all plain sailing and the biggest problem was Tate’s family. Their prejudices threatened to ruin what Tate and Logan shared and it was up to them both to decide if what they had was the real deal and worth fighting for.
“How he’d gotten so damn lucky, he had no idea, but if it took slicing open his wounds to keep Tate, then he was willing to rip them open and bleed all over himself.”
To my surprise I was #TeamLogan all the way in this book, I could understand Tate was in a horrible predicament but he hurt Logan and I felt all mama bear protective and wanted Tate to make it up to him, which he did, over and over again ;-)
Tate’s situation did force Logan to re-evaluate his life and confront a memory from his past in order to focus on his future and what Tate meant to him. My heart went out to Logan and I loved everything that came out of his dirty mouth!
“This thing between them was so much more than sex. He wanted this night, this moment where everyone knew Tate was with him, to be real –to be the way their life really was. He wasn’t quite sure how Tate would react, but when his lips were taken in a brutal kiss, that was good enough for him.”
“You and nuts,” he mused. “In your coffee, on your ice cream…” He leaned in and added, “In your mouth.”
Take was Tate’s turn to step up and out of Logan’s shadow, he may have been new to this scene and Logan was the only guy he’d ever been with and will ever be with but Tate was a follower no more and he showed Logan just exactly how commanding he could be. Yeah, it was hot.
“Logan reached out a hand, grabbing the curls falling down over Tate’s forehead, and demanded through a harsh breath. “What are you trying to do, kill me? “Tate shook his head. “No. I’m making you mine.” Logan released his hard-on and grabbed Tate’s ass, pulling him up so he could rub their cocks together. “Don’t you know? I’m already yours.”
As always, the sex is in abundance and it is off the charts hot. I love Ella Frank’s writing and I love the world she has created for these two men. We got a greater look into their lives, heads and hearts.
“This was no longer about sex. As Tate pressed his forehead against Logan’s, he likened it to a religious experience. Logan had fundamentally changed him, made him see the light –or the fucking stars –and there was no way he could ever be unchanged.”
Both men were taking a very big leap, hoping the other was strong enough to hold on. Logan’s family made an appearance and it made me really want to read the Exquisite series, as I want to learn all their stories too.
I felt Tate and Logan had reached a good place, all things weren’t perfect but that’s life and they came out the other end stronger as a couple. Even when a face from Logan’s past turned up I wasn’t in a panic as I knew these guys could handle it but I was surprised to find out their journey isn’t over. As I’ve mentioned I love reading about Tate and Logan, this is my favourite m/m series to date. I just worry that a third book may be a stretch. I’m hoping there will be more to the story than Logan’s surprise visit at the end to make me want to read on. I always believe we should be left wanting more and if Ella knocks book three out of the park, then I’ll happily eat my words :-)
If you liked Logan and Tate in Try then you will fall head over heels completely for them in Take. There are emotions, revelations, confessions and a whole lot of sex to be enjoyed.
“You make me crazy and furious and out of my mind with need, but in the end, you make me so fucking happy. I can’t ever remember feeling this way. And no one is going to tell me it’s wrong. No one.”
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Ella Frank is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors. Her writing captivates you. It draws you in. You don’t just read her stories. You live them.
“Everytime I’m near you, I feel alive.”
Take picks up where Try left off. At this time Logan and Tate still don’t have a title. One thing that is for sure is that they are falling. Hard. And no one is complaining. If you’ve read book one, you know that Tate is still going through his divorce. Logan and Tate face so many challenges this time around. Love? Love is the easy part. They fall irrevocably, effortlessly in love. Their love is challenged and questioned, yet Logan and Tate never sway from each other. In fact, their love becomes stronger. Obstacles get in their way. The past comes to haunt them. Their hearts are put on the line. These men are absolutely vulnerable now. Their souls are left to bare. But love is taking a risk. Logan and Tate learn this. Love is about taking chances. Falling because you know the other person will be there to catch you. Take goes so much deeper into their relationship. It allows the reader to truly understand how these men fell in love. That their love for each other runs deep. They simply love with their entire heart and soul.
“Don’t you know? I’m already yours.”
What I love so much about this book is that it is about LOVE. It is so much more than someone’s sexual preference. It is so much more than a man loving a man. Ella Frank flawlessly and effortlessly writes in a manner where Logan and Tate’s primal need and want for each other is FELT. It is strong, consuming and beautiful. Have you never read a M/M before? I DARE you to read this book and not feel absolutely in love with love and Logan and Tate. The author will easily push her way into your heart.
“Yes I love him. Recklessly and without caution.”
“Because with you, all I want to do is fall without thought.”
The love between Logan and Tate is raw, passionate, and never ending. Their love never fails. Logan and Tate will make you question everything you thought you knew about love. It will challenge your belief in the power of love. If you thought the scenes in Try were hot, get ready for Take. Their intimate moments happened to be some of my favorite parts as they were full exposed. Their love and commitment to each other show during these moments. I absolutely cannot wait until the third book. Logan and Tate are easily one of my favorite couples of all time!
I loved Tate from the very beginning of Try. Logan...not so much. But in Take, I did come around on the Logan front. I felt I was given more of an insight on what makes him tic and how his past affected the way he acts towards Tate. He's insecure about loving again. He's protecting himself, his first love, Chris, really screwed him up and over.
I liked seeing Tate and Logan get closer physically and emotionally. Of course each of them were still dealing with there own self-doubts which really made you feel for them. They also had to deal with the doubts they had about how each other and how exactly they would fit into each others life, if at all. I have to say though, I thought parts of this book to be a tad immature. Tate's guess my name game. The whole Logan being jealous and acting like a baby because Tate wasn't on his Pictionary team. They are grown men, I would have liked to see the jealousy issue shown to us in a different way. What I did love about this story is the passion and sexual chemistry they have together, even though I did tend to skim the sex scenes near the end because I just wanted to get to more of the actual story line.
When I did finally reach the end (keep in mind I didn't know a third book was coming) I might have actually UGH'd out loud. This isn't going to go down well. With this new issue coming out of the woodworks, and the drama with Tate's family, which really breaks my heart, Ella is going to make us go through the ringer, or rather poor Tate and Logan. I was hoping to see them get their HEA in Take, not that I don't mind reading about them some more, I just wasn't prepared for more turmoil in their relationship. But I do know, that when it is all said and done, it will be great, right? Of course! I think this series is really great and of course you should be reading it. Never thought I would be into M/M stories, but this is seriously HOT HOT stuff with a great story to support it! I can't wait for the third book!
When I first read TRY by Ella Frank I knew that I had found perfection. It was the first m/m that I have ever read. Well sorta… I had read scenes with m/m but not a full length novel. To say the least I was entranced and addicted from the very start. That book touched me in a way that no other book has. It wasn’t just the new erotica genre I was experiencing it was a whole new world of beautiful storytelling and intense emotion. I fell head over heels in love with Logan and Tate, and I could not wait for TAKE to come out.
At the end of TRY we are left with some unanswered questions, and some seriously heartbreaking stuff going on within Tate’s family, and the struggle that Logan and Tate now have to endure because of that. It’s so obvious that these two beautiful men need each other and care for each other deeply. That’s not the problem. It’s their mutual disdain for letting their walls down and accepting not only themselves, but each other. They have to deal with each other’s stubbornness and feistiness the whole way through. It’s equally heartbreaking as it is frustrating and HOT all wrapped into one big bubble of uncertainty.
Logan and Tate I BELIEVE have their intentions with each other under wraps the whole time. But the way I see it, it’s only within their own individual minds that they question the relationship. The lust is there, the need is there, the LOVE is there. THEY just need to get there. And they can’t get there until some outside forces are dealt with.
Logan was my guy from the very start of this series, and he still is. The passion and growth and vulnerability you see from him in this book is utterly captivating. He wants so badly to JUST BE with Tate. To have him in any way, shape or form. His character has taken a major turn in this book and I couldn’t be any more in love with him. He’s still the cocky arrogant beast that we love to hate, but he shows his full colors in this story. You simply cannot hate him. He’s this beautifully flawed man with a now open heart for one guy. THE GUY.
Tate… Oh sweet Tate. YUP, not so much ladies. Tate took a major turn as well. He’s no longer the shy demure guy getting seduced by the ever lustrous Logan. Tate has turned his hand in this one. He shows force and gumption towards his man, and he doesn’t back down. Tate was a force to be reckoned with and Logan loved every second of it.
These two go through some major obstacles throughout this story. Ex-boyfriends, ex-wives, stupid family members who SHOULD KNOW BETTER. To say the least I was slightly infuriated by the three above.
My heart broke for Logan at one point, and I just wanted to grab him out of my kindle and hold him close to my heart. There is a scene in this book that just made me cry my eyes out. My fearless Logan was broken, and it was felt deep.
The sex… Let’s talk about the sex. HOLY CRAP Ella Frank can write a great sex scene! Or two, or three! Buttttttttt. I hate saying this because Ella is TRULY, deeply, madly one of my favorite Authors. I felt like there might have been too much sex. Yup, I said it. You would never normally hear that from me, but Ella writes some quality stuff. Her voice has been heard and I love everything about her writing. I think with TAKE, I was just expecting a little more story and a little less sex. TRUST ME, Logan and Tate doing the dirty won’t ever get old for me. But I love them so much as characters that I just wanted more of THEM. The true them. They have such a deep connection, and I felt that the sex overrode the depth of their beautiful characters. They are both so full of emotion and raw strength that I think they, themselves don’t even realize the simple answer standing right before them.
That being said. Logan and Tate will always have a piece of my heart, and I hope that book three will bring me the peace I so desire. And I have no doubt that it will. I think when I fall in love with characters the way I have with these two it just makes me want more. And ultimately I will take them any way I can get them. Do I recommend this book? Of course I do. I’ve told so many people about this series that people probably think I’m crazy. And I most definitely am. READ THIS SERIES. It’s beautiful, sweet, sexy, HOT and oh so memorable.
Here is some of my favorite stuff J
