Release Blitz - Put Up Your Duke (Dukes Behaving Badly #2) by Megan Frampton ~ Includes Brianna's Review!
*I received an ARC from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.*
I love a good marriage of convenience story. Something about a couple marrying, and THEN falling in love is just very appealing to me. Therefore, when I saw that in this book, the hero inherits not only a title but a bride, I was definitely sold on reading it. Luckily for me, I was not disappointed.
The two main characters, Nicholas and Isabella, were very likable. Nicholas started out as a typical rake, but what was interesting was that he was pretty bored of his life. All he did was box and seek out ladies. Still, there was more to him than that. He turned out to be quite kind and thoughtful, and I just loved watching him pursue Isabella.
Usually in England-set historical romance, the heroine is a spinster, a bookish girl who just wants love, or a plain woman with ambitious and intelligent aspirations. Therefore, it was pretty refreshing to read about someone who was trained to be the perfect duchess. She knew how to throw parties and balls, and she was very beautiful. However, the thing that made Isabella different was the fact that she was so “perfect”, that she didn’t know herself. She had no true opinions, and showed no emotions except for when she was around her sister Margaret. So, I felt very sorry for Isabella, but I also liked watching her come into her own person. Nicholas was very good for her, as he made Isabella say what she wanted and did not want. I just had so much fun watching him woo her, and her grow into her own person.
The side characters weren’t very numerous. Margaret, Isabella’s previously mentioned sister, was a funny, outgoing, and witty girl whom I immediately liked. Their parents treated Margaret horribly, just because she wasn’t beautiful like Isabella. That, and their treating Isabella like a thing rather than a person, caused me to hate them. They were some extremely horrible people, and I just wish we saw them get what they deserve. Then, there was Nicholas’s brother Griff. I liked Griff because he was intelligent and close to his brother, but I do think his character could have been developed a bit more. Finally, there was the former Duke of Gage, whom Nicholas replaced. He was a pretty flat villain, and didn’t add too much to the story, but I disliked him well enough.
Once I picked up this book, I never wanted to put it down. The story followed Nicholas as he inherited the title of Duke of Gage, when the former was found to not be a legitimate heir to the dukedom. As previously mentioned, Isabella was inherited right along with that title, as she had been betrothed to the former Duke of Gage. At first thinking they could both get out of it, they were proven wrong when Isabella’s parents threatened to ruin Nicholas and his family should he refuse Isabella. therefore, the two were married, and thus followed Nicholas’s discovery of just how constrained Isabella had been by her parents’ expectations of her. It was just so nice to see a man pursue his heroine with sensitivity, and companionship. I hated the villains, but I really liked the relationship between the two leads. Which just means that this novel did a lot right.
With all that said, of course I’m recommending you read this book. If you like historical romance and marriage of convenience stories, there should be no reason why you won’t enjoy it. The two main leads are likable, and watching the two of them fall in love was a good time. The writing was smooth, and I found myself immediately interested in the story. The book was a great way to continue my current love of all things historical romance, and hopefully it’ll do the same for you, or get you started reading it if you never have before.
Megan Frampton's love affair with books began when her parents moved her to a remote town in New Hampshire where there was only one television station. And then the TV broke. She devoured every book of fiction in her well-read parents' library, finding special joy in Georgette Heyer and the fairy tales collected and translated by Andrew Lang. Megan majored in English literature at Barnard College and worked in teh music industry for fifteen years. She lives in Brooklyn, New York, with her husband (her former intern) and her son.

Release Day Blitz - Hard to Let Go (Hard Ink #4) by Laura Kaye ~ Excerpt, Ava's Review and Giveaway!
Taking a deep breath, Beckett knocked on the door.
He turned the knob, and the door opened.
“Go away,” came a strained voice.
Beckett poked his head through the opening. Kat sat in a ball in the corner, her legs pulled up to her chest, her arms hugging herself tight.
“Aw, Jesus, Beckett. Really?” Her face was splotchy and her eyes watery, though he didn’t see any tears.
Ten-to-one she was going through some adrenaline letdown right now, too. Which no doubt made it all worse. That shit could fuck you up even when you were used to how it left you feeling drained and shaky, by how all the stress you’d suppressed during the height of the crisis boomeranged twice over after the fact.
He came into the room, closed the door, and turned the lock for good measure. And then he crossed to Kat, scooped his arms under her knees and behind her back and lifted her up against him.
She smacked his chest. “Put me down.”
“No.” He moved to the edge of the bed.
“I don’t need this right now, Beckett. Put me down.”
“Yes, you do,” he said, sitting on the edge of the mattress. He pulled her face in against his throat and smoothed her hair back from her cheek. She trembled against him, just the littlest bit, her skin hot to the touch. He pressed a kiss to her forehead and hugged her tighter. “You did good, kid.”
Every one of her muscles went tight. Her hand fisted in his shirt. And her breath caught as she buried her face against his neck and shoulder.
Then Kat burst out crying.
And it was like being torn apart and put back together, all at once. He hated her pain, but he adored that she wasn’t hiding herself from him, and that she was letting him be there for her.
He didn’t shush her, or try to talk her down, or encourage her to dry her eyes. To be sure, her tears were like daggers in his heart—they hurt like fucking hell. But the only way she was going to feel better was to let this shit out. Ironic realization for him—he did actually see that. But just because you could see what was good for others didn’t mean you had the first goddamned idea how to apply those principles in your own life. And that was a problem for another time anyway.
What mattered right now was Kat. What mattered … was Kat.

It was finally time for the last instalment of the Hard Ink series. It was time for the fallen soldiers to get the justice they deserved and it was also Beckett Murda’s time to get the girl.
If you have been following the men of Hard Ink like I have, you will not be disappointed with Hard To Let Go. It is a fitting end to the series with its perfect blend of suspense, romance and surprises.
I still can’t believe the books span over a time frame of 3-4 weeks, so much happens but at the same time it’s like no time has passed at all. I think the author did a great job with every technical aspect of the story.
Kat and Beckett’s relationship was hot right from the start, their love/hate chemistry was believable and they both brought out the best and worst in each other. My favourite element of Kaye’s characters is their vulnerability, in particular the big, stoic army men. Each had a sensitive side, they had their own demons to fight with but when that part was exposed and explored, that’s when I fell for them completely.
“Beckett realized that as satisfied as his body was in this moment, it was his soul that was all lit up inside. Because even though it wouldn’t last, for right now he was wanted and he was good. And he so rarely experienced either that it was one of the most special moments of his life.”
“When he didn’t say anything right away, she stroked her fingers down his cheek. “What?” she whispered.
He sorted through the whirl in his mind. “What I’m asking is...for you not to give up on me.” Beckett shook his head. “I’ll get my shit together. I promise.”
Hard To Let Go was an enjoyable read for me. Kat was probably my favourite female character of the series; I loved her feistiness and her drive to help not only her brothers but their team as well. There was plenty of suspense building up into a great crescendo and the series ended on a high. I’m a huge fan of Laura Kaye’s writing and although I’m sad to see the end of the Hard Ink crew, I look forward to the next series and can’t wait to fall in love with a whole new set of characters.
If you are a fan of romantic suspense then this series is not to be missed.

I was so excited and a little nervous when I realized that When You’re Back was going to my next read. You see I was excited to get more of the sexy Southern cowboy Mase Colt Manning as I fell in love with him after reading When You’re Gone. He became my second favorite Abbi man after Woods. (I love Woods) but I was nervous about what was in store for both him and Recess.
“I found her. I’d found the one. The one who would change my world”
“I was his. Everything about me belonged to Mase Colt Manning”
I have to say the drama and angst that was there, and there was some wasn't too bad. Yes, they did have a bit of a bumpy road as a couple of other characters were playing manipulative little games. And when trust, honesty, jealousy and insecurity issues come into play, it makes Mase and Reese doubt their relationship and what they really meant to each other. So it’s safe to say I was a little frustrated with them both at times.
“I love you so much I can’t breathe. You are my heart, Reese. My life”
“The man I trusted. The man I knew would never hurt me”
However, with what was going on you couldn’t deny how much Mase loved his girl and how much Reese loved her cowboy. In true Abbi style, the lust, passion, attraction, and the chemistry between Mase and Reese was undeniable these two had so much love for each other. And I love that! Loved watching Mase and Reese grow as a couple as they faced this bumpy road together.
“Loving her is worth…it’s worth it all. Living in fear of love isn’t living.”
When You’re Back was a heartwarming story about true love, trust, and growth, honesty, with a little drama and angst thrown in. There was a continuity error, but that didn’t take away my enjoyment of the book. I loved the little twist that Abbi threw in and, as a result, I went from having a mild dislike for a character to seeing them in a whole new light. Well-played Abbi!!
Overall, I enjoyed this one. There is something familiar about an Abbi book. I love her ability to draw me in every time, and I love the feeling I get when reading one of her books, and that I read most it with a grin on my face. I’m looking forward to reading the next book in the Rosemary Beach Series The Best Goodbye, which will be Blaire’s brother Captain’s story.
One last thing! I did spend a lot of time talking to one of my Co-blogger while reading this one about who was the man that was going to tame Nan. As I knew, Abbi had said the clues would be there, and I have to say that after playing the detective and finishing the book I pretty sure I know who it will be! I can’t wait to see if I’m right!!

There are many rules a priest can't break.
A priest cannot marry. A priest cannot abandon his flock. A priest cannot forsake his God.
I've always been good at following rules.
Until she came.
My name is Tyler Anselm Bell. I'm twenty-nine years old. Six months ago, I broke my vow of celibacy on the altar of my own church, and God help me, I would do it again.
I am a priest and this is my confession.
***Priest is a standalone, full-length novel with an HEA. For mature audiences only.***
I received an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.
I'm not going to lie, I love taboo stories. Because of that, as soon as I read the synopsis of Priest I knew I had to read it. Not long ago I fell for a priest. Not in real life of course, but a priest from a book. So to say that my expectations were high when I began reading it, would be an understatement.
This book is told from Father Tyler Anselm Bell's point of view, which I absolutely loved and thought was the best choice considering the story. I quickly became emotionally invested in his story right from the prologue. Right from the beginning, Tyler is enthralled by the stranger with the sexy voice just on the other side of the thin screen separating the two while he listen to her confession. And that is where the story begins and Tyler's struggles commence.
From then on, there's a war in Tyler. What is right and wrong? The appearance of the new town resident in his church, tilts his entire world off of its axis. By her next confession, he starts becoming closer to her, to Poppy. The quickly form a friendship, but underneath it all there's a palpable attraction between the two that cannot be denied. But their friendship starts transforming into something more forbidden until the inevitable happens.
Page after page, you feel the struggle in Tyler. He starts questioning himself and his purpose in the church. On one hand he has this woman that he has begun to have feelings for, but on the other he has his duty to the church to think about. This internal conflict progresses throughout the story to the point where you don't know if he should choose the woman or the church because he can never choose both.
Even though I did enjoy the emotional aspect of the story, and of course those sinfully sexy scenes (seriously, I will never look at a church's altar the same way again!)., I had a problem with the story. I did enjoy Tyler's struggle, but at the same time I thought that he succumbed to his attraction for Poppy a bit to quick for my liking. The church was obviously a HUGE part of his life and one that he had planned to never leave behind, but he kind of threw his beliefs out the window too quick for my liking. Also, at times I had to remind myself that he was a priest because the way he expressed himself (mostly in his thoughts) did not seem very priestly.
Overall, I enjoyed the story. It was HOT and definitely grabbed my attention. There are many references to the church and its teachings (it IS about a priest after all), so if you think you cannot tolerate that, don't waste your time. Otherwise, definitely give this book a chance. It had great writing, suspenseful and thought-provoking moments, as well as SEXY scenes!

Well, let me tell you now if you loved Ky the first Crawford Brother then you are going to LOVE his little brother Josh that man is just so lush!! I like Ky but Josh I loved him. Be My Temptation by Rachel Brookes is the second in The Crawford Brothers series and is Josh and Ashlyn story. Two people shared a night one that five years later they have never forgotten; especially Josh Ashlyn was that one Temptation, who he just couldn’t forget.
“After all, no one knew it, Ashlyn didn’t even know it, but Ashlyn Hart was and would always be my forever girl”
From very early on I soon realised that there is more to Josh than meets the eye. He may have seemed like a ladies man, but he was selfless, had a big heart, and sexy alpha with all the right words. Ashlyn Hart was strong, sassy, funny, and independent, but an ex-boyfriend had broken her heart, and that make her cautious with her feelings. I like her, but once or twice I did want to give her a little shake and say just listen to what your heart is telling you.
“There was something different about Josh Crawford's attention. It made me feel like the world was spinning out of control around us but all he focused on was me”
I loved Josh and Ashlyn together and individually. The connection was high between them as was sexual tension. Their friendship/relationship was fun, flirty, sexy, cute, passionate and intense. They had to not let fear and the past stand in their way of what they want, especially Ashlyn as Josh deep down always knew what he wanted.
“Be mine today, tomorrow and forever, because we both know that we are the only ones for each other”
With Be, My Temptation Rachel has written a story about soul mates, true love, second chances, friendships and taking chances. And what you will do for that person who you know took your heart from the very first time you saw them. The one person who no matter what happens you will always want, them be your forever person. I adored this one, which wasn’t a surprise and loved being on Josh and Ashlyn journey.
“A risk is worth taking if it leads to a happily ever after”
Loved the way Rachel writes with such passion, she is such a talented writer. I just can’t help but love her characters and have great empathy for them. She never fails to pull on all my emotions I swooned, laugh, cried, got anxious, and wanted to punch someone while reading this one and those sexy scenes were hot!! Love the epilogue it left me with a grin on my face. It was the perfect ending for Josh and Ashlyn.
"You hold my heart in those pretty little hands of yours Ashy, I can’t survive without you.
It was good to see that all was well in the world of Ky & Eden, love that Rachel give us a different side of Eden. Rachel also introduces two hot sexy characters that will be getting books in the future Ashlyn’s brother Austin and his friend Ben Hunt. Let me just take a moment to talk about Ben Hunt from the snippet that we get of him, it was just enough to leave a lasting impression. I know that I’m going to love him and has alpha ways. I can’t wait for his book.
Fans of Rachel’s will love this one, and I suggest you one click today and meet the gorgeous Josh Crawford. I would also suggest that if you haven’t read Be My December then you should one click and read that one first. If you have not read one of Rachel’s books before, then I suggest you start today, and one click the Breathe series as you won’t be disappointed.

Read the first book in the series Be My December
I knew the exact moment I’d become a ‘yes’ girl.
December 16th, a cold winter’s night, four years ago.
The night my innocence was stolen, the night I made the mistake of saying no—a mistake I’d never make again.
The dream of a ‘happily ever after' was now a locked away myth. I promised myself that I’d never return to the place of my worst nightmare, that I’d never let anyone get close, but then again, I never thought I’d meet someone like him.
The intense, confident and beautiful Ky Crawford.
I had no plans to become someone’s Prince Charming.
I couldn’t be. I refused to be. My plan was simple—do whatever it takes to correct my biggest mistake, my one regret that now controlled my life.
I was on track. I had plans, but then everything changed when I saw her—the girl in the red jacket, the girl who I was told couldn’t say no.
The reserved yet stunning Eden Rivers.
A girl who can’t say no.
A guy who craves redemption.
A chance encounter?
It all comes down to this.
Be My December?

I’ve never been so hopeful as when I board the pristine glass elevator at the M4 corporate building. A handful of employees ride along with me, murmuring perfunctory greetings to each other and to me. I think my mouth must be on vacation because I can’t seem to force it to speak. But I smile in reply—my smile nervous, nervous but hopeful, definitely hopeful. My riding companions step out on their floors one by one until I’m alone, riding up to the executive floor on my own.
Toward the man I love.
My body is raging. My blood is pumping—my blood is storming—my thighs are shaking. My stomach feels filled with little earthquakes that just won’t quit, then they turn into a full-fledged roil when I hear the elevator ting at his floor.
Stepping out, I’m in corporate nirvana, surrounded by sleek chrome and pristine glass, marble and limestone floors. But I hardly have eyes for anything except the tall and imposing frosted glass doors at the far end of the room.
Framing those doors to each side is a pair of sleek designer desks, for a total of four.
Behind these desks are four women in identical black-and-white suits, sitting behind their gleaming dark-oak desks, working quietly behind their flat-screen computers.
One of them, the forty-year-old Catherine H. Ulysses—right hand of the man who owns every inch of this building—stops what she’s doing when she sees me. She arches her brow, then seems both tense and relieved as she lifts the receiver on her desk and murmurs my name into it.
I. Am. Not. Breathing.
But Catherine doesn’t miss a beat as she motions me toward the huge frosted doors—those intimidating doors—that lead into the lair of the most powerful man in Chicago.
The human being with the most powerful effect on me.
This is what I’ve been waiting for, for four weeks. This is what I wanted when I left a thousand messages on his phones and what I wanted when I wrote a thousand others that I left unsent. To see him.
For him to want to see me.
But as I force myself to step forward, I don’t even know if I’ll have the strength to stand before him and look him in the eye after what I did.
I’m wracked so hard with nervousness and anticipation and hope—yes hope, small but bright, even as I shake like a leaf.
Catherine holds the door open, and I struggle to hold my head high and walk into his office.
Two steps inside I hear the swoosh of the glass door shutting behind me and my systems halt at the familiar sight of the most beautiful office I’ve ever been in.
His office is all vast marble and chrome, twelve-foot ceilings, and endless floor-to-ceiling windows.
And there he is. The center of its axis. The center of my world.
He’s pacing by the window, speaking into a headset in a low, low voice—the kind he uses when he’s pissed. All I can make out are the words have to be dead to let her fall into his clutches …
He hangs up, and as if he feels me in the room, he turns his head. His eyes flare when he sees me. His green eyes.
His achingly familiar, beautiful green eyes.
He inhales, very slowly, his chest expanding, his hands curling a little at his sides as he looks at me.
I look back at him.
Malcolm Kyle Preston Logan Saint.
I just walked into the eye of the most powerful storm of my life. No. Not a storm. A hurricane.
Four weeks, I haven’t seen him. And he still looks exactly as I remember. Larger than life, and more irresistible than ever.
His striking face is perfectly shaven today, and his sensual lips look so achingly full I can almost feel them against mine. Six-feet-plus of perfectly controlled male power stand before me, in a perfect black suit and a killer tie. He’s the very devil in Armani; strong-boned, square-jawed, gleaming dark hair and those penetrating eyes.
He’s got the best eyes.
They twinkle mercilessly when he teases me, and when he doesn’t tease me, they’re mysterious and unreadable, assessing and intelligent, keeping me guessing about his thoughts.
But I had forgotten how cold those eyes used to be. Green arctic ice looks back at me now. Every fleck of ice in those eyes gleaming like diamond shards.
He clenches his jaw and tosses the headset aside.
He looks as approachable as a wall, his shoulders stretching his white shirt, which clings to his skin like a groupie. But I know he’s not a wall; I’ve never wanted to throw myself at a wall like this.
He’s walking towards me. Every step he takes makes my heart pound as he moves with that quiet and confident own-the-world stride of his.
He stops a few feet away and shoves his hands into his pants pockets; and he seems so big all of a sudden, and he smells so utterly good. I drop my eyes to his tie as the little candle of hope I walked in with starts to flicker with doubt.

I’m the selfish one. I suppose that’s the nicest thing people say about me. I’ve heard the other things, too. “Paige Owens is a pretty girl with nothing else to offer. She’s just a good time at a party. She’s stupid, heartless, cold and useless. All she cares about is getting a guy to look at her. Why would anyone want to be her friend?”
Some of those things are true. Others were true. They’re all hurtful.
None of it matters.
I’m ready to make the hard choices. I’m ready to face the consequences. I’m ready to be the girl I was before, and I’m done being the one who lost her way.
I’m ready to become the girl Houston Orr sees when he looks at me.
Houston isn’t a star athlete. He doesn’t play in a band. He’s never going to be president, and his life is so far away from simple and easy it isn’t even funny. He wasn’t part of my plan. But I’m starting to think plans are overrated, and maybe our stories are what we make them. And mine depends entirely on me, and the choices I make…starting now.
Houston is my fairytale. He’s perfectly imperfect. He’s poetry and life. He’s truth and heartbreak, all rolled up in a tall body with dark hair, broad shoulders and green eyes that lull me into submission. He’s nothing I ever thought I wanted, but the very thing I need. He’s the only guy I’ve ever really loved, and he thinks I’m a princess. I fell into him, and now I’m holding on.
But sometimes life takes away our ability to choose. Sometimes…things aren’t in your control. Sometimes, it hurts to be selfless. My only hope is that when it comes time to choose, I get it right.
Welcome to my once upon a time and wish for happily ever after.
I like you. I don’t wanna like you. But I do.
I have been repeating her words in my own head since I heard them. I’ve been saying them like a mantra because of that part of me that doesn’t want her to like me either. Because if she likes me, then maybe how I feel is okay too, and maybe acting on it is okay, and then shit gets real. What does that even mean? Shit gets real? Shit gets hard—that’s what it means. Real hard. I have to make time for someone else; I have to take a leap of faith and risk that my world will fall apart again. That’s what that means.
“I like you too, Paige,” I whisper. “And fuck if I don’t want to. But I do.”
I take a few seconds to jog in place, stretching my neck from side to side like I’m about to step into a fight. Maybe I am. But fuck it, shit got real a long time ago. What do I have to lose now?
“I’m not looking, I swear,” I say, keeping my eyes at the floor as I barge into the bathroom. I cannot believe I’m doing this.
“Out!” she yells from behind the shower curtain. “Not even funny. Not even clever. Out, you fuck stick, out!”
Her anger makes me laugh, and fuck stick? Really?
“I have to brush my teeth. We’re pushing it close on time. I’ll be fast, and I’ll keep my face forward. I swear,” I say.
I’ve already brushed my teeth, but she doesn’t know that. I turn on the water and load up my brush. I hear the curtain slide behind me, and I know she’s looking at me. I don’t have to turn around or look into the reflection to know what her face looks like—her brow is furrowed and her lips are tight, and she’s making sure I’m keeping my promise. Don’t worry Paige; I won’t look. But I know you want me to.
I’m spitting into the sink and reaching for the towel by feeling, careful not to glance up, when I hear the water switch off and the curtain slide open. There’s no towel near her or the tub; I know it because I see them hanging on the rack several steps away. She’s cheating.
I notice her shape move into my periphery to my right, and I glance briefly to catch her hand reach for the towel. When I see her back is to me, I go ahead and look long enough to take a mental picture. Her hair is soaking wet and dripping a line down her perfectly sun-kissed skin, a trail of water I let my eyes follow down her shoulder blades, to the small of her back, to an ass that is so perfect I wish I were the kind of asshole who would reach out and smack it at a time like this. I just hold my breath and memorize it instead. I turn back to the sink, lay my towel down, and move to leave.
“You looked,” she says, and I pause with my hand on the doorknob, the curves of her body now ingrained in my memory. I smile.
“Yeah, I did,” I say, before stepping into the hallway and shutting the door behind me.
