New Release - Reasonable Doubt: Volume 3 (Reasonable Doubt #3) by Whitney G. ~ Adriana and Ava's Reviews
*I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Reasonable Doubt has been one of my favorite serials so far. It was great from beginning to end. Lots of sexiness, sweetness, sadness and happiness. Just thinking about this series is making want to pick up the first installment and read it all over again!
In this volume we get a lot more emotion from Andrew. His vulnerable side comes out and the events from his past will leave you brokenhearted for him. No worries, his dirty mouth is as dirty as ever!! I loved Aubrey in this one. She was finally strong enough to say enough is enough. She went to pursue what she loved even if that meant with or without Andrew. And after what Andrew did to her in volume two, I was happy to see she didn't give in that easily. She made him for it. The banter between these two will have you cracking up.
I will miss looking forward to the next installment of Aubrey and Andrew's story. I'm hoping Whitney releases a bonus scene or something because I miss these two already!
Overall, I LOVED this series. If you are looking for a funny and sexy read that includes a main character with a dirty mouth, do not hesitate and buy this serial asap!
*I received a copy in exchange for an honest review.*
After waiting for what felt like forever, it was finally time for the last instalment of sexy Andrew Hamilton. I’m so sad this serial has come to an end but it just means I get to reread it to death and I will!
At the end of the last episode, Aubrey was asking Andrew too many questions about his past, getting too close for comfort and causing Andrew to abruptly end their ‘quasi-relationship’. Aubrey decided enough was enough and she took things one-step further by removing herself from Andrew’s life and the same state by travelling to New York to focus on her ballet.
At first Andrew was being stubborn (nothing new there) and he was determined to prove he didn’t need or miss Aubrey but as she cut all contact including emails and phone calls Andrew cracked and admitted to himself that she had in fact got under his skin.
The best part of this series has been the banter between Andrew and Aubrey, I loved their back and forth conversations, whether it was foreplay or verbal attacks it always had me laughing.
“Having a subpar dick isn’t the end of the world. – Alyssa
You are quite correct in your closing statement though: Having a subpar dick really isn’t the end of the world. Having an un-fucked pussy is. –Thoreau”
I liked Aubrey’s character in this instalment, even though she loved Andrew she had to put herself first and he had made it clear he didn’t want anything permanent. So after standing up to her parents, she quit law school and auditioned for the New York City Ballet Company. The growth in her character was great to see. She didn’t lose who she really was and it made the ending all the sweeter.
Just when I thought I couldn’t love Andrew any more, he then shows his vulnerable side and I was a goner. I couldn’t handle Andrew lost, hurting and remorseful. The entire truth about his past was revealed and my heart ached for him. His ex-wife was a Grade A bitch and she well and truly screwed Andrew over. His Achilles heel was Emma and when he would recall his time with her, the tears were streaming down my face. I already loved this man and his sexy mouth, but upon discovering a chink in his armour, it sent me gaga over him.
It was great to see a change in Andrew and he was the one doing the chasing this time. His efforts to win back Aubrey were downright romantic and sweet but at the same time, Whitney stayed true to his character, he didn’t suddenly turn into a gooey Casanova. He was sincere in his own unique Andrew way.
“Stop talking, Aubrey.” He rolled me on top of him. “Go to sleep.”
“I was just saying thank you. I can’t say thank you?”
“No.” He pressed his lips against mine and kissed me until I couldn’t breathe, saying, “Don’t make me fuck you to sleep.”
I am so glad I discovered Whitney G; this is my favourite serial to date. Her writing pulls you in and I couldn’t put the book down until I finished. In this final instalment, there were several time jumps and a lot of time apart and this did slow down the pace of the story for me but with that being said, I loved the writing and Andrew and Aubrey got the ending they deserved.
Speaking of endings, I can’t help but want more of an epilogue, what we got was great, but I’m an Andrew junkie and kinda don’t want to let him go, so I can’t help but be greedy and want more. Perhaps his life for the next thirty years? I’m sure Andrew would make one sexy silver fox! ;-)
Reasonable Doubt is fun, sexy and entertaining. If you haven’t met Andrew Hamilton then you are doing yourself a disservice!
Series Reading Order . . .
My cock has an appetite.
A huge and very particular appetite: Blonde, curvy, and preferably not a fucking liar... (Although, that's a story for another day.)
As a high profile lawyer, I don't have time to waste on relationships, so I fulfill my needs by anonymously chatting and sleeping with women I meet online.
My rules are simple: One dinner. One night. No repeats.
This is only casual sex. Nothing more. Nothing less.
At least it was , until "Alyssa"...
She was supposed to be a 27 year old lawyer, a book hoarder, and completely unattractive. She was supposed to be someone I shared law advice with late at night, someone I could trust with details of my weekly escapades.
But then she came into my firm for an interview—a college-intern interview, and everything fucking changed...

She lied to me...
She betrayed the one rule that I'm most adamant about: Honesty.
Complete and utter fucking honesty.
I really wish she was someone else—someone who didn't have the ability to make me feel, someone I could easily discard like the hundreds of women before her.
I'm drawn to her like I've never been drawn to a woman before--
completely captivated by the very sight of her. But unfortunately, with my past slowly re-surfacing for all of the world to see, I'll have to find a way to let her go.
She can never be mine.

Author: Pam Godwin
Genre: Dark Erotic Romance
Release Date: 25th August, 2014
Warning: Graphic sex and violence. Age 18+ only
It is recommended to read after Deliver, but it can be read as a stand-alone.
Her life is like a prison cell.
A self-made, to-hell-with-the-free-world existence that locks from the inside.
Stop judging. Her agoraphobia doesn’t define her. It simply keeps her safe.
He belongs in a prison cell.
The 6x8, make-me-your-bitch variety that locks from the outside.
But he’s free. To hunt. To take. To break.
And he just found a sexy new toy.
Capturing her is the easy part. Her fucked-up mind, however, makes him question everything he does next.
But he’s a determined bastard. If all goes his way, this will hurt like hell.
Vanquish is the second book in the Deliver series by Pam Godwin and like the first, it's still playing on my mind days later. I have been waiting to read Vanquish, as I so wanted to know more about the man who for the most part whilst reading Deliver I wanted to do more than just punch him for all the things he had done to Liv and others. I really didn’t like him, but I have to say by the end, although he was messed up there was something about him, my anger toward his had decreased, and I wanted to know more about him, and his story.
I must admit I didn’t reread the synopsis when I started this one, as I wanted to go into it blind. I trusted that Pam was going to captivate from the start with Van Quiso’ story and I have to say she really did I just love this one.
"You don't really know someone until you see them in the dark"
Van OMG!! What can I say about him, I was expecting him to be dark, crazy, dangerous, and a cold-hearted fuck, and for the most part he was he definitely has some issues. As his story unfolds and I learnt more about him, his childhood and his past, I did start to feel for him. He is broken and so messed up. At times, he came across heartless and cruel, but then he would surprise me, and do something that showed a gentle, funny and compassionate side. I didn’t want to like him, but I did.
‘He could whip her against a tree, fuck her beneath the moon, tie her down on the porch and mar her flesh with the cuts of his teeth. It didn’t matter, because wherever he took her, no matter how brutal or dark the destination, there would always be warmth. Because he would be with her.’
Amber Rosenfeld is just as broken and messed up as Van, but in a very different way. My heart went out to her as it was difficult and emotional to read at times how agoraphobia and other her issue are controlling her life making her a prisoner in her own home. She really tries hard not to let her circumstances define her, and she is doing everything in her power to adapt to it and survive it. I just loved her.
He was her mirror in a way. They both carried a million cracks beneath the skin. Even under the stark light of the fluorescents, it was hard to see which of them was more broken.”
I am not going to say much more as like me, I think you should go into more or less blind, and experience it for yourself. I will say that when Van meets Amber old habits die-hard, and when Amber meets Van all her boundaries are tested.
“He was a cold-hearted fuck with an appetite for blood, come, and tears. And he had the perfect girl to feed it”
“He was a kidnapper, a rapist, and she ached to be repulsed by him, just to prove she was sane, but she couldn’t. And she wasn't. His scarred beauty radiated seduction and danger, a deadly combination.
Van and Amber are two broken, damaged people, and their relationship is dark, and twisted, and emotional. There was also humor within it, and the sex was seriously hot at times. I loved watching Van and Amber's relationship develop, and I could understand what they were drawn to each other why their need for each other was so intense.
“Love hate are closely related expression of the same intensity both require passion, and neither follows logic”
“He wasn’t alone in these feelings. She needed him as much as he needed her, physically and as much as emotionally”
Overall, I loved Vanquish. The twist and turns had me eager to swipe the pages so that I could see how Van and Amber's story was going to unfold. I loved the epilogue it was a good way to end Van and Amber’s journey. I love Pam writing, she has a way of pulling you into the story. I felt it was well-written especially the parts when Pam is describing Amber fears about going outside I could just feel her pain and her panic.
I know it says it can be read as a standalone, but I really think that if you haven’t read Deliver then you should read it first not only because it's an amazing read, that is slightly darker and twisted, but to get the foundation of Van. If you like dark, gritty, and twisted romance stories, then Vanquish is just what you need. Go one click today. I’m looking for to seeing what Pam has for us next.
I'm going to start this review by pointing out that if you plan on reading book one in this series, Deliver, DO NOT and I repeat DO NOT read Vanquish or this review first! If you want to read Vanquish first, Deliver will be spoiled for you and it's best if you go in blind! You have been warned...
When I heard that one the least likable characters I have ever encountered was getting his own book you would think my reaction was one big 'hell to the no,' but I was intrigued. One word that came to mind when thinking about Van was crazy. So I kept thinking to myself, how is Pam going to make me fall for him? And believe it or not, I DID!
Van is one of those complex characters that you just love to hate and hate to love. And Van wouldn't be Van without being..well..Van. So when Van is introduced to us, he's doing something that had me just shaking my head. He's not only spying on Liv (Yes, we do cross paths with Liv once again. YAY!), but he's doing something...shall I say..out of the norm? From then on I just knew that Van was as crazy and appalling as seen in Deliver. I was wrong. There is a reason for his madness and when his past is completely revealed, I really felt (and fell!) for him.
Amber is a character like no other. She suffers from anxiety, OCD, agoraphobia, self-esteem issues, anorexia....you name it, she has it. From the very beginning of this book I just wanted to grab her and comfort her. Slowly, the reasons behind all these issues come to light and I just wanted to kick a person or two for her. This book having dual point of views, I got to feel the struggles that Amber faced daily. I loved that she felt so real and relatable. And what I loved the most about her was that as the story progressed, she got stronger and stronger. She fought to break through her anxiety, her agoraphobia, her OCD, etc. Not that these things just went away, of course, because that would just not be realistic at all.
The relationship between Amber and Van started by chance. I won't go into details about that, but know that I wanted to hate Van for his actions at first. But he really grew on me. He helps Amber with her problems, he doesn't go about it very well, but it's the thought that counts right? And at first he wants to use her for his own purpose, but he grows to feel things for her that he had never felt before. I loved seeing him grow and evolve throughout this book.
Overall, I really enjoyed reading this book. Van and Amber are characters like no others and they will definitely stay with me for a very long time.
With the next breath, he launched, hands on her jaw, fingers spread around the back of her head.
His elbows dropped, shoulders raised, and he yanked her to him, lifting her on tiptoes, guiding her mouth, taking it. His grip twisted through her hair as he drew in her upper lip and shoved her against the fridge, following her with the weight of his body.
The kiss went fucking wild, their lips mashing in a frantic battle. His tongue plunged her mouth, attacking, thrusting in and out, possessing her movements, owning her. Breath for breath, lick after lick, he ate at her mouth, tasting, devouring.
He dropped his hands to her breasts, squeezing ruthlessly as he rolled his cock against her cunt.
His tongue tingled, his skin burned, and his head swam. God, she was a drug, and he was so fucking high.
She gripped his biceps, bit at his lips, and threw her arms over his shoulders, her fingers scratching the fuck out his back. He shuddered, loving it, but he was in control.
Reaching back, he grabbed her wrists and slammed them above her head. Their bodies ground together, his forearms pressing hers to the fridge, their tongues dancing and clashing. Chest-to-chest, hips fused together, he flexed his ass, dry humping her like a horny teenager.
Jesus, fuck, he didn't care. He wanted her.
He leaned back to study her face and found strong smoldering eyes, sharp breaths, and swollen wet lips. Whatever she saw in his expression made her mouth chase his and her fingers curl around his hands. They kissed endlessly, fueling the fire and pushing his control long past the point of discomfort before pulling back and starting all over again.
When he broke the kiss with a hand on her jaw, they panted as one, mouths open and so close their bottom lips brushed. She peered at him through lowered lashes, and he stared back in awe. What trembled between them wasn't an if? Or even a how hard? Those were foregone. The question they shared was simple.

Title: Be My December
Author: Rachel Brookes
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release Date: August 28th 2014
I knew the exact moment I’d become a ‘yes’ girl.
December 16th, a cold winter’s night, four years ago.
The night my innocence was stolen, the night I made the mistake of saying no—a mistake I’d never make again.
The dream of a ‘happily ever after' was now a locked away myth. I promised myself that I’d never return to the place of my worst nightmare, that I’d never let anyone get close, but then again, I never thought I’d meet someone like him.
The intense, confident and beautiful Ky Crawford.
I had no plans to become someone’s Prince Charming.
I couldn’t be. I refused to be. My plan was simple—do whatever it takes to correct my biggest mistake, my one regret that now controlled my life.
I was on track. I had plans, but then everything changed when I saw her—the girl in the red jacket, the girl who I was told couldn’t say no.
The reserved yet stunning Eden Rivers.
A girl who can’t say no.
A guy who craves redemption.
A chance encounter?
It all comes down to this.
Be My December?
After reading the prologue, (Rachel Brookes has a habit of writing prologues that make you want to reach for the tissues.) I just knew it was going to be an emotional ride. My heart went out to Eden after learning what she went through that night.
December 16th was the night that changed Eden Rivers, he night she became a yes girl. The night that her walls came up, the night that she lock her true self and her dreams away. The night she vows never to let anyone get close to her again until she meets Ky Crawford, intense, confident and beautiful.
Ky is struggling with a secret and demons from his past. A regret that he wants to make right as it is controlling his life. He too has never really let anyone get too close until he meets a girl who can’t say no. Eden River reserved, independent and stunning.
I really enjoyed the storyline; you get the perfect blend of angst, drama, humor, suspense, romance, and sexiness. Told from Eden and Ky’s POV, meant that I got to know exactly what they were thinking, Rachel has done a brilliant, and effective job of describing Eden and Ky’s personalities and emotional feelings. It was heartbreaking, and heartwarming to read, I became invested in their story, and their emotions were my emotions at times.
The whole time I was reading I was trying to connect the dots try to work out what was ky’s secret, why was he so protective of Eden, and was Eden going to have to face demons from her past. Rachel kept me on the edge of my seat until till the end, and I loved that.
Ky is just so yummy, so sweet and so protective of those close to him. Eden she really was a special lady, I love her strength, her fighting spirit and courage. Eden and Ky are great together the friendship that they formed it was sweet and touching both not expecting the intense pull/ need that they get from each other.
There were some great secondary characters such Eden best friend Tori, who has been her rock at times. Ky’s brother Josh and best friend Ashlyn, who want the best for him. I’m looking forward to their stories as the series continues. There were a few that I didn’t like, and one that will forever be known as fuck face
Overall. I just loved this book. It does have a sensitive subject matter so it was heartbreaking, and heartwarming to read to read at times, but it’s well-written by Rachel. There is a lovely epilogue, and one that means we may see Eden and Ky and in future books. I loved how the story is connected to the Breathe series, and that some of the of the characters from that Series are in this one.
Having suffered from the Tate Connor effect, I was #TeamTate all the way, but now after meeting Ky, don’t get me wrong, he and Tate have a lot of similar qualities alpha being one of them, but I think I have to say I’m now #TeamKy.
If you loved Rachel’s Breathe series, then, you wouldn't be disappointed with this one, and I recommend that you one- click today. Be My December was an emotional, heartfelt story, with suspense, and revenge that captivated me from start to finish.
“Eden Rivers was the most tightly shut book I had ever encountered. I wanted to rip open the cover, disband the spine and tear the pages of her story into a million pieces. More than anything I wanted to help her write new words, on perfectly crisp untouched paper and to come up with the perfect title, for the perfect story”
“You grabbed my attention the very first time I saw you, and it hasn’t been lost since”
“Ky was simply the guy who I spent my nights with, the guy who would kiss me until I couldn’t breathe, who would touch me until I trembled, the guy who pushed his way into the darkness of my heart”
“The first time I saw you all I wanted was to know you. It wasn’t about being physical with you when it started. I just wanted you. My urge to protect you and keep you safe could be considered as insane.”
"I am going to kiss you until I take your breath, until you can feel your heart thundering so hard in your chest that you fear it will stop beating. So, can I kiss you?”
“If it wasn’t for their cock I’d become a lesbian.” ….“You clearly haven’t got the right type of vibrator.”
“Obviously Australians have a different understanding of what consideration means. Fucking kangaroo lovers”

Title: Ten Below Zero
Author: Whitney Barbetti
Release Date: August 28, 2014
Genre: New Adult Romance
“In here,” he said, pushing on the skin above my heart, “you're ten below zero. And you’re closer to death than I am.”
My name is Parker. My body is marked with scars from an attack I don’t remember. I don’t want to remember. I choose to live my life by observation, not through experience. While people are laughing and kissing and connecting, I’m in the corner. Watching them live. I’m indifferent to everything, everyone. The only emotion I feel with any kind of depth is annoyance, and I feel it often.
A text message sent to the wrong number proves to be my undoing.
His name is Everett, but I call him rude. He’s pushy, he’s arrogant, he crowds my personal space, and worst of all: he makes me feel.
He chooses to wear all black, all the time, as if he’s waiting to attend a funeral. Probably because he is.
Everett is dying. And he’s spending his final days living, truly living. In doing so, he’s forcing me to feel, to heal. To come face to face with the demons I suppressed in my memory.
He hurts me, he fulfills me, he completes me. And still, he's dying.
“You would know,” I said, snatching a bra from his hands.
Everett shrugged. “It’s underwear. More specifically, it’s your underwear. I’m intrigued.”
“Yeah, well don’t get any ideas.”
Everett leaned back into the pillows, resting his hands behind his head again. “Oh, but I have a lot of ideas.” He winked at me.
I stalked away towards my dresser and began pulling things from drawers. When I turned back around, Everett was holding another bra.
“You don’t wear padding,” he commented, his fingers feeling along the lined cup.
“I like that.”
My hands stilled. And then I moved them again. “Why?” I didn’t care. Really, I didn’t.
I turned around. “Lies?”
“I like the truth. In every way.” He seemed lost in thought so I turned back around and packed my things.
“Am I really doing this?” I asked myself.
“Yes, you are.”
I turned around again. “Why?”
It wasn’t a question he should know the answer to. But he did. “Because you hate and you love the way I make you feel.”
I was naked under his gaze. Skin was just that: skin. But to see your soul stripped, laid bare for the eyes of someone you barely knew – that was terrifying. I’d walk down the street naked a hundred times before I would let someone see what lay underneath.
I’d spent my life alone. Bounced from foster home to foster home. When my tastes outgrew my age as a teenager, I traded boys for men and found myself still alone. I reveled in the loneliness. No one could hurt me but me, and did I really care if I hurt me? Did I care? If I found pleasure in anything, it was my lack of feeling.
And that’s how I knew, when Everett told me not to fall in love with him, that I wouldn’t. I didn’t love myself. And wasn’t loving someone also loving yourself, the parts that saw the beauty in other people? I didn’t have that part. And I didn’t want it.
“I don’t love anything,” I said.
“I know.” His eyes were unsmiling.
I am the author of new adult romance novels. He Found Me (May 2014) is the first in a two-part series. Ten Below Zero (August 2014) is a standalone.
I am married with two boys. When I’m not changing diapers or cutting food into tiny bites, I escape to Starbucks for hours. I could drink my weight in their black iced tea.
I love music and have a playlist for everything.
I have about 20 bacon things in my fridge.

Title: You'll Think Of Me
Author: Lucia Franco
Release Date: August 26, 2014
With his thick southern drawl and seductive charm, Luke is the country boy everyone adores. He has his future mapped out, but his plans with Olivia are suddenly derailed when she makes a decision that blindsides him, changing the path they both envisioned.
As Luke struggles to keep everything in check during a difficult time in his life, he must put his trust in the one person who broke it to begin with. The last time they saw each other, Olivia busted his heart wide open, turning him into the man he is today.
When Olivia returns to her roots, just like Luke said she would, he is shocked for more reasons than one. Nine years have passed since they've seen each other, and when their roads collide unexpectedly, Luke can only push his worry and misgivings away for so long.
Things are different now—they are strangers—and the rope that once bound Olivia's heart to South Fork, Georgia is pulling her back in, forcing her to remember how it used to be all those years ago.
“How about you let me decide that,” he said in all seriousness.
“No. We can’t. As much as I enjoyed myself tonight, this is it. No more. Don’t you see the lines we’re crossing?”
Olivia’s forehead wrinkled with concern. How was it that he didn’t have a drop of worry? Was he only thinking about himself?
“I do see that,” he said moving in closely, “but I don’t give a fuck about any imaginary lines, Olivia. I want you, and I’m pretty sure you want me too. So what’s the problem here? And don’t give me that patient/doctor shit. I told you I would switch doctors. What’s your problem? You can’t deny the chemistry between us. It’s there. It’s pulling at us both and you know it. I can read your eyes and see it. It’s been there since the day we met. Don’t deny it.”
Olivia glanced around the parking lot. Deep down she wasn’t sure if she was ready to put herself on the line again, but by the deep undertone he used, she knew Nate was fuming.
“I don’t have a problem with us. What I do have a problem with is you finding a new doctor. Dr. Thatcher is the best.”
“I understand,” he answered staring down at her, “but you diagnosed my problem and it seems like an easy one to fix at that. So I could switch doctors with no issue. Nate-3-, Livy, still 0. Go ahead. Give me another reason, Liv, and that will put me at 4 points and you 0, because you know I’ll win that one too.” He formed his fingers into a ‘0’ as he said it with a know-it-all-defensive-fucking-try-me attitude.
Shit. She was all out of reasons, not that she had many to begin with. She was holding back. Her one gripe was the fact that she was his doctor and he just blew that argument out of the water.
Olivia didn’t want to get hurt and feared she would. It was a gut feeling she didn’t want to ignore. She was afraid to be around Nate. He managed to knock down some of her walls, expose her layers so early on and she wasn’t used to it. No one other than Luke had done that to her. She knew she’d fall hard for him, but not until she was ready to on her terms. When the time came she would let go and love again.
“Stop,” he ordered.
“Stop thinking so hard,” he demanded with a drawl. “I can see it spinning in your pretty brown eyes.” He was just an inch away from her now and breathing down on her.
“I see what you’re doing, finding ways to say no,” he whispered. “You’re so easy to read, Liv. I know you already in this little amount of time. I paid attention to you, your body. Your incredibly sexy body that I want so, so fucking bad…” Nate trailed off, growling under his breath as he slid an arm around her lower back and pulled her up against him.
“Stop looking for an out,” Nate insisted.
“Nathaniel,” she whispered. “I can’t.”
“Says who? You? You’re the one fighting me on it right now, Liv. Don’t tell me you don’t feel it between us. Just let go and give us a damn try.”

She's resigned to live contentedly with only her books for company—until Faye suddenly meets Chace alone in the woods...
Chace doesn't think he's the good guy everyone believes him to be. He's made a lot of choices he regrets, including denying his feelings for Faye. Through his choices, he's come to believe the pretty librarian is too good for him, but after their time in the woods, Chace realizes that she may be his last chance for redemption. Soon, their long simmering desires grow to a burning passion. Yet always casting a shadow over their happiness is Chace's dark past...
I continued my Kristen Ashley marathon by diving straight into Breathe. When I discovered at the end of Lady Luck, that it was in fact Chace’s turn to get a story, I’m not going to lie, I wasn’t sure if he was a good guy or not and I didn’t really want to read about him. Well out of curiosity, I read the sneak peek at the end of Ty’s story and I was hooked, I wanted to know more about the shy librarian, Faye, and how she captured Chace.
I immediately liked Faye’s character; I wondered how KA would portray a twenty nine year old virgin without being cliché. I thought this was done really well and it actually made me want her and Chace be together even more. Faye harboured a crush for the small town cop for over thirteen years and subconsciously or not, she was saving herself for him.
Chace had many demons to excise. The police department he dedicated his life to was full of crooked cops and Chase felt guilty about not taking action sooner, he also had the death of his ex-wife on his hands. There was no love lost between Misty and Chace but he made it his mission to track down her murderer to find peace for both himself and Misty’s memory.
I loved to witness the change in Faye as the story progressed. At the beginning, Faye was shy and insecure. She didn’t feel worthy of a guy like Chace but as their relationship blossomed, Chace proved to Faye that she was his equal and worthy of his love. It was a pleasure to see her confidence grow.
“I’d walk to the ends of the earth hand in hand with Chace Keaton and all he had to do to get me to do it was kiss me deep, smile at me, hold my hand and call me baby.”
“Everything about you is hot, honey. You got nothin’ to be embarrassed, ashamed or worried about because you’re the best I ever had. All of you. All we share. The best kiss. The best orgasm. The best lovemaking. And seriously the best fuck.”
“I didn’t look like the shy, virgin, town librarian anymore. I looked like the stylish town librarian who was regularly getting banged by the town’s hottest cop.”
My favourite part of the storyline was the young boy in need of help that frequently visited Faye’s library. Malachi brought out the caring side of both Faye and Chace but he also added mystery and intrigue to the story. My heart ached as the story was coming to a close and I felt so much for these characters, it really was bittersweet.
I’m beginning to notice the formula to this series, and although the books share many similarities, I recognise it as classic KA and I find myself searching out one of these books whenever I am in need of a traditional alpha.
I’m getting into the swing of Kristen’s writing and also the lack of a connective at the beginning of questions that have me rereading the sentences to understand the intent. However, those quirks are minor points and they don’t halt my enjoyment of the story and in actual fact I have found myself becoming quite the KA fan.
Unexpectedly, Breathe is my favourite of the series so far. I just felt for Faye and Chace from the beginning and felt they both deserved a break in life. Chace was this big tough cop, but underneath he didn’t feel worthy and I loved the way in which Faye showed him otherwise.
“He pulled her even closer knowing one more thing. He wasn’t falling anymore for Faye Goodknight. He wasn’t halfway there. He was gone.”
“Now, after six fuckin’ years of feelin’ buried under shit, I see it through your eyes and finally feel clean. For the first time in six years, I feel free.”
Breathe can be read as a standalone, although you will want to read about the other couples as soon as you meet them. This book pulled at my heartstrings, had me sobbing into my pillow but in the end it left me with a huge smile on my face. I recommend you read this one!
Chace is the town hero. A cop who helped cleaned up the corrupt Carnal Police Department. And even though had been through hell with the life he previously lead and death of his wife, he always had Faye in the back of his mind. For much longer than she had ever known. When he was finally free to have real love, he went and got his real love and loved her like no other.
Their attraction to one another is what brought them together, but the compassion they both had towards one special little boy is what bonded them together and fueled their relationship further. The determination they had in making his life better is what melted my heart as a reader. Of course there is the usual falling in love, misunderstandings, mending the parts of their hearts they thought were already healed. Of course might as well throw in a disappearance and the chase to the rescue before it ends in disaster...Breathe Faye. And I even got a little giddy when a character from Rock Chicks showed up in the story, so freaking good! I mean I kind of knew something was up with Faye's internet friends, or rather "band of misfits" as Chace calls them, but I wasn't expecting that.
Usually with a book I fall in love with one MC more than the other, but with these two I loved them just the same. How could you not, with two equally lovely and compassionate people? And even though they are not real, they made me want to be a better person and look out for those less fortunate and in harms way. Any thing, no matter how small, just to make someone else's life a little bit better. The whole story of Jeremiah (Miah, Malchi...yes he has a few names) touched my heart and made me sad and also hopeful that someone, somewhere out there also looks out for kids like him the same way Faye and Chace did for him. The way Miah looked up to them...so, so sweet and heart-warming. And his school speech...brought tears to my eyes, messy sad and happy tears mixed together!
"You go down on me, you get geek TV. I go down on you, you watch one of my programs."
"It's not classified information, Chace. You can read about it on Wookieepedia."
"Did they vow on Luke Skywalker's light saber that they'd stand down?"
"I held out for a hero and I don't give a frak if you don't think you're one. I know you are and even if you weren't one to the whole town, you're one to me and you can take that to the fraking bank."
Those are just a few of my favourite quotes, they made me laugh, love and cry. I thought this was such a great story and fabulous edition to the Colorado Mountain series!

Ellie Watt is used to starting over. The daughter of a grifting team, Ellie spent her childhood being used as a pawn in her parents' latest scam. Now she’s much older, wiser and ready to give her con artist life a rest. But returning to the dry desert town of Palm Valley, California means one more temptation than she bargained for – Camden McQueen. Once known as the high school weirdo, Camden is bigger and badder than the boy he used to be and a talented tattoo artist with his own thriving business. Ellie’s counting on Camden still being in love with her but what she’s not counting on is how easily unrequited love can turn into obsession over time. When Camden discovers Ellie’s plan to con him, he makes her a deal she doesn’t dare refuse, but her freedom comes with a price and it’s one that takes both Ellie and Camden down a dangerous road.
Though he’d always be Camden to me.
“Come sit with me,” he said. He had gotten the fire going and was sitting cross-legged on a Mexican blanket in front of it. The very same place we’d shared some wine and, uh, certain parts of each other. It felt like ages ago. It was amazing how fast everything had changed, even our names.
I hesitated. He was drunk, which was fine. I mean, I’d seen him drunk before. But things were so different and so unpredictable, I wasn’t sure who I was going to get. Camden? Connor? Caithness? Today had been the first time we’d been together in a few days, and while things were going smoothly at the moment, I didn’t want to push my luck.
“Please,” he said, patting the ground beside him.
Feeling he probably wouldn’t ask nicely next time, I got up and sat down beside him. The fire wasn’t too hot since it was a Duraflame log, but it was pleasantly warm and toasty. I brought my knees up to my chest and watched the flames dance.
“So when do I start becoming Connor Malloy?” he asked in a dull voice.
I turned my head to look at him. The flames reflected in his glasses, making it hard for me to see his eyes.
“When we run,” I said.
“Do you ever get tired of running?”
I managed a weak smile. “Why do you think I came here?”
“I thought you came here to screw me over,” he said. It was so emotionless and he watched the fire as if hypnotized.
“I didn’t come here to screw you over, Camden.”
“Please, call me Connor.”
“Seriously, Camden, listen to me. I know you don’t believe me or trust me but…you have to know, you weren’t why I came here.”
“No? Then I’m a bit disappointed,” he said sadly.
“I didn’t think I’d know anyone here. That’s why I came back. I figured everyone was either too old to remember me or had moved on. No one stays in the town they were raised in unless they have a reason. I thought I could just start over. I thought my uncle could help me. Or at least try. But he didn’t want me.”
“You could have gotten a job like everyone else. A real job.”
“You didn’t try.” His eyes snapped to mine, taking me by surprise. “You wanted the easy way out. Don’t you know by now that there is no easy way out?”
His tone put me on edge. I tried to placate him with kind eyes. “I’m getting out now,
aren’t I? We both are.”
A savage smile slowly spread across his lips. “But you think this is easy. Don’t you? You’re relieved that all you have to do is help me with something you’re good at. Somehow, in the end, you’ll walk away. Maybe not any richer, but you’ll walk away. And you’ll feel great about how much you helped Camden McQueen or Connor Malloy or whatever my name will be. You’ll walk away feeling like a winner. That’s not fair, Ellie. You don’t deserve to feel that way.”
I couldn’t figure out what to say because what he was saying was the truth. He removed his glasses and put them on the ground beside him. His eyes, heavy lidded with drink, drifted to my mouth. I gulped nervously, not liking the tension that was jagging between us.
“How do you think I should feel?” I asked thickly. My nerves were on fire. Everything was on fire.
“Like this,” he said. Slowly, he leaned over and kissed me. His lips were soft and tasted like bourbon. I couldn’t kiss him back if I wanted to; I couldn’t do anything but freeze. He pulled back a little, his eyes inches away. I could see my frightened reflection in the black hole of his pupil. “See? You’re afraid.”
“You want to scare me?” I whispered.
He kept his lips an inch from mine. His fingers smoothed the hair off my face, tucking it behind my ear.
“Yes,” he murmured. His lips brushed mine as he spoke. My breath hitched as his other hand slid the strap of my tank top and bra off my shoulder. I shivered from his touch, from his eyes, from whatever was buried in his heart and eating him alive.
“Camden,” I warned, my voice shaking.
He placed his lips on my shoulder and started kissing down my arm. He was right. I was scared. I was so, so afraid. Yet a terrible part of me wanted him to continue. I was turned on and frightened, ready to run, ready to fight, ready to grab him and kiss him, devour every part of him. I didn’t know what was going on, but I was stuck in a cage with something that might or might not harm me, that might give me everything and leave me with nothing.
His lips came back up my arm and across my collarbone. Slowly. Very slowly. The slowest, softest kisses I’d ever felt. Then his mouth edged down my chest. I was sure he could feel my heart underneath, pounding wildly. With his hand, he pulled down my top and bra and exposed my right breast. My nipple was already hard and now puckered in anticipation. His lips circled it, then his warm tongue lashed it gently, teasing, tempting. He let out a small sigh then tugged at my nipple ring with his teeth. The pleasure traveled along my nerves like lightning strikes.
I couldn’t swallow. I felt like I was drowning under his touch. “Camden, please…”
Please stop, I was thinking. This isn’t right. It feels right and it feels wrong but it isn’t right. There’s a
motive and it isn’t lust. It isn’t lust. It’s revenge.
Revenge never felt so good.
He nipped at me, and my back arched. A low moan escaped my lips. I wanted him. I wanted the person that didn’t exist. I wanted the wrong thing.

Twenty-two-year-old historical romance writer Nicole Blake, or N.S. Blake to her readers, hasn't taken an official poll, mind you, but she is convinced she may be the only romance author on the planet who is still a card-carrying member of the virgin club.
Not that she hasn't tried to end her membership. Life just keeps finding pesky ways to interfere. With no prospects on the horizon, Nicole begins to feel like the closest she will ever get to experiencing a man is within her own stories.
Opportunity presents itself in the form of hot-as-sin-on-a-lollipop-stick bartender/premed student Alec Petropoulos, who agrees to be the cover model for her upcoming book. Sparks fly instantly between them, and Nicole begins to entertain the possibility that she's finally found the right guy to hand over her tattered V-card. Alec has all the makings for a perfect one-night-stand candidate except, much to Nicole's surprise, he seems to be the only man in existence not interested in bagging a virgin.
Stuck between a rock and a stubborn male, what's a virgin to do? Seduce him, of course. How hard could it be? If it works for the characters in her stories, why wouldn't it work for her?
After all, what happens under the cover…stays under the cover.
