#VERUM, the second book in Courtney Cole's twisted, psychologically
mindbending #NOCTE Trilogy, is here.
Wow!! Is all I can say. Verum is the second in The Nocte Trilogy by Courtney Cole, and like the first Nocte it was a captivating read. I can’t say much about the storyline, as I would know how to describe it without giving spoilers. It’s one that you need to read knowing very little about it so that you can come to your own theories, lets just say there is a lot more to it that meets the eye.
“Secrets are the same as lies, and I must uncover his truth.
Calla is now in England with Dare at his home Whitley Hall. She wants to find out answers wants to learn the truth, find out what secrets Dare is hiding. But it’s not as easy as she hopes, and she is met with more question than answers. Callie doesn’t know who to trust and what to believe, and as it starts to get too much she starts to question herself.
“I love Dare, more than anything, but I can't trust him”
“My thoughts are my enemy because they think about things I don’t want to know”
Like Nocte the storyline, it’s full of secrets, suspense, mystery, and twist and turns. I have to admit at times just didn’t know what was happening. Like Calla, any answers I thought I had were met with questions, and it’s safe to say I was confused, frustrated and intrigued. At times even needed to go back and read parts just to make sure I hadn’t missed something.
"People like you, your mind is closed. You don’t see things for what they are, you see things for what you think they should be"
Once I started this book, I couldn’t put it down, as I needed to know what was going to happen. I loved the build up towards the ending; I could feel it happening, and I started to get anxious. When it came I was left me open- mouthed and I threw my Kindle down thinking WTF!!! And all because Mrs. Cole! Again threw me a curve ball with a cliffhanger that has left me wanting more.
“Things aren’t what they seem here, Calla. Don’t forget that and you’ll be fine”
Verum is an attention-grabbing, well-written, skillfully crafted story with new characters that add to the dynamic elements of the story, and I’m still thinking about it 24hrs later. I can’t wait to read Lux the final book in the series so see what a mind fuck Mrs Cole has in store for us, and to get the answers to the many questions that I have.
“She hands me a cup of tea. Because in England tea fixes everything.” ~ Yes it does!

Courtney Cole is a novelist who would eat mythology for breakfast if she could. She has a degree in Business, but has since discovered that corporate America is not nearly as fun to live in as fictional worlds. She loves chocolate and roller coasters and hates waiting and rude people.
Courtney lives in quiet suburbia, close to Lake Michigan, with her real-life Prince Charming, her ornery kids (there is a small chance that they get their orneriness from their mother) and a small domestic zoo.
