Release Day Launch - Misunderstandings (Woodfalls Girls #2) by Tiffany King ~ Ava's Review and Giveaway
*I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.*
I absolutely adored book one in the Woodfalls Girls series; No Attachments and I couldn't wait for the series to continue. It was now Brittni's turn to tell her story. The layout of the book was different and we meet Brittni in the present day when she bumps into the guy that broke her heart, through a series of flashbacks we are then told the story of Brittni and Justin and what happened between them.
When Brittni and Justin are forced together by meddling friends, things are hostile to say the least, we are then transported to two years earlier to a happier time. One of my own personal reading quirks is the first meeting between two characters, I like to witness and feel all the crazy, butterfly, off the wall emotions. If I get that the first time round, I am sold on the couple for life. Although we did get to witness Brittni and Justin's first meeting, I felt I didn't get to live in full Technicolor, it was like a brief overview of events to keep with the pace of the story. Due to that I didn't get Justin and Brittni, I liked them as characters just fine but I didn't feel their spark and it stopped me from really connecting with them. Again, this is a personal reading preference of mine. If you love second chance romances then I have no doubt you will love Brittni and Justin.
The storyline itself was fitting for a New Adult romance, the angst was there as Brittni hinted to the past and what had happened. I had guessed the events that led to their demise, this didn't dampen my enjoyment of the story I just felt sad that both characters had let so much time pass on a 'Misunderstanding' and they were both hurting separately.
Misunderstandings can be read as a standalone. Ashton and Nathan from book one are briefly mentioned but Brittni's friendship is more to do with their friend in common, Tressa. Again, I would’ve perhaps have liked the other characters more integrated as it would have been good to catch up with them.
Tiffany King's writing flows well and is always easy to read. Although I didn't fall head over heels for the characters, I still felt their emotions and shed a tear or two as they suffered through their ordeal.
Misunderstandings is a good New Adult contemporary romance, and one worth buying today.
