Birthday Girl by Penelope Douglas is live! #5StarReview #ReleaseBlitz #Giveaway #NewRelease @PenDouglas
He took me in when I had nowhere else to go.
He doesn’t use me, hurt me, or forget about me. He doesn’t treat me like I’m nothing, take me for granted, or make me feel unsafe.
He remembers me, laughs with me, and looks at me. He listens to me, protects me, and sees me. I can feel his eyes on me over the breakfast table, and my heart pumps so hard when I hear him pull in the driveway after work.
I have to stop this. It can’t happen.
My sister once told me there are no good men, and if you find one, he’s probably unavailable.
Only Pike Lawson isn’t the unavailable one.
I took her in, because I thought I was helping.
She’d cook a few meals and clean up a little. It was an easy arrangement.
As the days go by, though, it’s becoming anything but easy. I have to stop my mind from drifting to her and stop holding my breath every time I bump into her in the house. I can’t touch her, and I shouldn’t want to.
The more I find my path crossing hers, though, the more she’s becoming a part of me.
But we’re not free to give into this. She’s nineteen, and I’m thirty-eight.
And her boyfriend’s father.
Unfortunately, they both just moved into my house.

Birthday Girl is an utterly addicting, super-mega page turner, with the sweet agony of a slow burn. It was completely intoxicating and unputdownable! To say I had several heart-pounding moments would be an understatement. And the tears, OH the tears were real and streaming. This is seriously one of the best forbidden romances I’ve read, and not only was it sexy, it was also sweet and so substantial to this genre. I was hooked from page one!
Jordan is the girlfriend of Cole, and Cole is Pike’s son so you can imagine the problem this presents when Jordan and Cole decide to stay at Pike’s house while they save money.
I LOVE the way Jordan and Pike meet. Jordan is strong and independent at the age of nineteen. And Pike is the older man who catches her attention while doing something she loves, something for herself. I love that they formed their own connection this way because it didn’t feel fake or contrived. It is definitely forbidden, and oh my god was it hot!
The chemistry was off the charts as expected, but it was the intense slow burn and personalities of the characters that shined through for me, I just fell in love with their little idiosyncrasies and attachments to certain memorabilia and inside jokes. There are other factors in the story which lead to it’s intensity, but I won’t share those because, spoilers. What I can say is that I love Pike and Jordan SO MUCH, their characters were perfect in my opinion.
I really didn’t want this book to end, it was THAT GOOD. I read a lot of good books, but this is one of the GREAT books that I will always remember. Any book that can keep my attention and have me ignoring my responsibilities goes strait to my favorites list, this is a MUST READ.
