“Because pretending to be happy is almost like being happy. Until you remember that you’re only pretending. Then you’re sad. Really sad. Because wearing a mask every day of your life is the hardest thing to do. And after a while, you get a little scared because the mask becomes you.”
I started Loving Mr. Daniels with certain expectations. I have read my share of student/teacher romances, so I had this idea in my head of how things would go down in this story. Well, I was 100% wrong and I absolutely love that I was. Loving Mr. Daniels is a beautifully written story not just about the fact that she's a student and he's her teacher, but it was so much more than that.
Ashlyn has suffered a great loss, the loss of her other half. This 19 year old now has to move with an estranged dad that has made a life with another family. Even with all the people surrounding her, she feels lost. She's drowning in her grief and doesn't know if she'll be able to heal, that is, until she meets Daniel.
Daniel. I loved Mr. Daniels. He has also suffered a great loss and is trying to move on, to also heal, but hasn't been able to. That is, until she meets Ashlyn. These two were fated to find each other, to heal each other. Their connection was one that as I was reading, I felt. It was passionate, beautiful, breathtaking.
“I don’t want to be your friend,” he said. We breathed in together and exhaled in harmony. “I want to be yours, I want you to be mine, and I hate that we can’t be us. Because I think we were meant to be us.”
I loved the side characters Ryan and Hailey. But what I absolutely adored was Ashlyn and Daniel's mutual love for Shakespeare and music, and some heartfelt letters that made me laugh and cry.
This is not just a story about forbidden love, but about love, heartbreak, loss, and hope. This is one of those stories that no review will do it justice and you have to experience it yourself. I highly recommend you read this book, it will touch your heart.

Brilliant. Breathtaking. Inspirational. I was completely consumed by this beautiful story called Loving Mr. Daniels. Not only is it beautifully written, but it is one of the most loving and romantic stories I've ever read. It is deep. Consuming. Absolutely heartfelt and will stay with me for a very long time. It's an unconventional love story that knows no bounds. It is golden.
"Doubt thou the stars are fire. Doubt that the sun doth move. Doubt truth to be liar. But never doubt I love."
19 year old Ashlyn Jennings knows heartache. As she deals with the death of her twin sister, Gabrielle, she is forced to move to Wisconsin to see live with her dad and his new family. Giving away the most intricate part of the plot would do the reader no justice. Therefore I will just say that her sister is with her. She is LIVING for her sister. For herself. For love. And when she meets Mr. Daniels? Her heart sang. I felt it. Their connection cannot be explained in words. You FEEL it The music, the letters, the poems. That explains their love. You don't read this story. You LIVE it.
"I wondered if he knew how he controlled my heartbeats.'
Two broken souls found their missing piece in each other. The moment they met? You felt their souls heal little by little. Ashlyn and Mr. Daniels are the epitome of destiny. Their powerful love story will leave you speechless, breathless at times. It is overwhelming. Powerful. Emotional. Mr. Daniels loved Ashlyn unconditionally. His soul felt hers the moment they laid eyes on each other and has not let go since. He loved her brokenness. Her darkness. Because in her, he saw light.
"You're doing it."
"Bringing me back to life."
"You didn't bring me the light, Ashlyn. You are the light."
Loving Mr. Daniels is the most flawlessly written book I have ever read. Every single word adds meaning to the story. The words are precise and beautiful. The author has a magical talent in story telling. This is not your typical student teacher romance. It is so much more than that. It is so much deeper. It goes where many love stories do not even attempt to go. A story of all consuming love, death, faith, family, sadness captivated me from beginning to end. Will there be tears? Tears flowed from me throughout the story. Over sadness, happiness, and most of all, love.
"Her love was breathing life into my entire being."
This beautiful thought provoking story will make you question everything you thought about love. The power love. What love can do, accomplish, overcome. This is the love story of all love stories. The emotions in this are raw and genuine. The story? Romantic, passionate, and ultimately, irrevocably, beautiful.
