*I received an ARC from Avon Publishing via Edelweiss in exchange for an honest review.*
Now it is no secret that I love Monica Murphy, so when I heard of the Billionaire series I only had one thought: “gimme” Yes I wanted my grubby paws on Archer but then doesn’t every woman?
Crave is a sexy little book weighing in around 250 pages but what you get is one hot Alpha, one feisty Vixen and an electrifying connection.
To quote my lovely friend Emma at Book Angel Booktopia “It’s like a steamy fairytale” and she is exactly right. Crave had glamour and decadence in the story as Archer and his friends came from wealthy backgrounds but Archer wasn’t the spoiled rich kid, no he turned a dilapidated old ruin into a prestigious resort and proved everyone-specifically his father-wrong. But Archer had the playboy Lothario title down to a T. He didn’t do relationships, and love was definitely out of the question. No woman held Archer’s interest long enough, well no woman he could have that is. His best friend’s little sister, Ivy, was definitely off limits. Archer’s head knew that now if only his heart would get the message too.
I loved Ivy immediately. Ivy was a strong independent chick, who was tired of always having to settle for safe. After being let down by yet another cheating douche, Ivy just wanted to let her hair down and do something crazy like make out with a stranger at the dull wedding she was forced to attend. Ivy got her wish although to her surprise her brother’s best friend couldn’t exactly be classed as a stranger, not that Ivy was complaining. As hot and steamy as their tryst was it left both Archer and Ivy questioning what it meant and what would happen next.
Archer was determined that it wasn’t going to be a drunken fumble. Now that he had Ivy in his arms he wanted to see if they could explore their connection. But the road wouldn’t be smooth and they had Ivy’s brother Gage to consider and their mixed feelings of friendship to lovers also complicated matters.
I loved the story, I liked that Archer was the one pursuing Ivy and he was willing to risk his friendship with Gage to date his little sister. We didn’t really get to see Archer’s playboy side as he admitted he was pretty smitten with Ivy from the start and I loved that he had cared for her since they were in their teens therefore their relationship already had a history.
What Archer wants Archer gets and to spend more time with Ivy he hired her to work on his newest venture. The two weeks Archer and Ivy spent together was probably my favourite part of the story, they were so sweet together and it was then I knew they were both in it for the long haul, even if neither was ready to admit it yet. There was enough drama and angst to keep my on my toes and I think I got annoyed at both Ivy and Archer at one point as they each came close to ruining my HEA (yes it was mine, I’m a needy reader ;))
Now I can’t review a Monica Murphy book without mentioning the smexy times! Oh I do love that woman’s writing. I was so enraptured with Ivy and Archer I felt their connection and sizzling chemistry. I was definitely rooting for them!
Crave is different from The Drew and Fable series in the sense that I found One Week Girlfriend more ‘gritty’ but with Crave you get drama and angst wrapped up in the sweetest of stories. I melted at Archer’s background and the need he felt to prove himself to others and I virtually high fived Ivy when she stood up to Archer and made it clear she wouldn’t settle for less than she deserved. Those are the kind of characters I fall hard for.
The ending left me all gooey with the warm and fuzzies and I really can’t wait for the rest of this series.
Monica Murphy rocks. That. Is. All.
“God, he smells amazing. Why have I never noticed this before? Not that we’re ever standing this close together, but I’m tempted to rub against him like a cat.”
“I wanted to tell her how much I wanted to do it again. Clutch her close and cuddle for Christ’s sake. I don’t fucking cuddle.”
“This is … bad. If I can barely handle her touching me on the leg for a brief second, then I need to get her out of my life pronto. Or pull her so deeply into my life there’s no way she’d ever want to leave my side again.”
“He seems almost… nervous, and I’ve never seen Archer nervous. Of Course, I’d never seen Archer naked either, but I sure remedied that last night now, didn’t I?”
“As I watch the car speed away, I feel like I’m watching my heart leave with it, forever in Ivy’s possession. Fucking crazy, but true.”
